Juelz Santana is gearing up to drop his highly-anticipated Gangsta Grillz mixtape, We In Motion, sometime later this year.
In order to promote the project, the Harlem native took to his Instagram account on Thursday (January 5) to hype it up. Playing a snippet of what’s assumedly the beat for a collaborative track with Joyner Lucas, he doesn’t hold back in sharing his excitement.
“Santana and Joyner Lucas. I’m not even gon’ say no other names. O.M.G. We In Motion on the f*cking way,” he exclaims as the drill beat plays in the background. Considering he’s not mentioning the names of any other artists, it will certainly be interesting to see who else will be featuring on the tape.
The Dipset rapper announced the new mixtape in an Instagram post on Christmas Day. It’s set to serve as his first full-length offering following his release from prison in August of 2020. The Harlem native was behind bars for a year and a half on gun charges.
It’s been nearly three years since we last got a full-length project from the 40-year-old. 2020’s #FREESANTANA boasts features from the likes of 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, Jim Jones and more. It dropped while he was still serving his time in prison.
Are you hyped for We In Motion to drop? Comment your thoughts on Juelz Santana seemingly getting ready to rap over a drill beat. Finally, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest music updates and releases.
Joyner Lucas and UFC bantamweight champion Alijamain Sterling have announced a special chance for independent musicians to have Sterling walk out to their song for his upcoming title fight against T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 280 on October 22 at Etihad Arena.
When Joyner noticed Sterling walking out to his song “I Love” at UFC 273 during his match versus Petr Yan, they became friends earlier this year in April. The two then developed the idea of giving up-and-coming musicians a global stage to promote their music, grow their fan base, and gain recognition at a prestigious sporting event.
Artists must register for Joyner’s startup platform Tully, upload the song they want Sterling to consider, and complete their profile before they can submit a song for consideration for Sterling’s battle. Sterling will then contact all winners directly to discuss the following stages. Prospective participants can go here to learn more.
Tully was founded in 2015 by Joyner and Dhruv Joshi to stream the creative music process with the aid of technology. The two collaborated to create tools that directly contributed to Joyner’s success as an independent musician. They are now disseminating these tools to more musicians so they can maintain complete control over their musical careers. Tully offers a 360-degree array of tools for artists to manage and advance their careers, including guided workflows, structured asset management, templated industry contracts, and publishing and licensing support.
Tully offers more than just music distribution; it also has administrative tools for saving contracts and split sheets and songwriting programs for musicians to play, compose, and record music. Joyner, a self-employed artist, uses a smartphone app that has access to all of these capabilities. Independent musicians can obtain royalty-free beats through Tully, own digital copyrights to their works, and more. They will also be able to get 100% of their royalties.
Sony Music Entertainment announced a significant investment into Tully in April 2020, at the height of the pandemic, and reported an increase in features for the end of that year.
On Funkmaster Flex’s famed show, Joyner Lucas performed a backwards freestyle over the beat from “Nas Is Like” and the instrumental from “Realest N****s.”
After Flex challenged Joyner to perform the extraordinary feat, the idea for the one-of-a-kind freestyle delivery emerged. In an earlier “Backwords” video from 2015, Joyner rapped the song’s lyrics both forward and backwards while shooting hoops in the park. But now, rather than singing the rhymes, Joyner delivered them in a freestyle on Flex’s well-known stage.
Flex has issued numerous challenges to a variety of hip-hop artists, including Fabolous, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Swizz Beatz, Benny The Butcher, and Juelz Santana. The most recent is the reverse freestyle. Flex even broke his bracelet during the clip because he was so impressed with Joyner’s lyrical skill.
Joyner’s freestyle also takes place in conjunction with his upcoming “ADHD Tour,” a cross-country, 18-stop tour that begins on September 16 and concludes on October 12 in Phoenix. It also includes a performance at Rolling Loud New York. He just revealed a novel possibility to give an up-and-coming performer from each leg of his tour the chance to open for him. Artists must join Joyner’s startup platform Tully to reserve a spot, upload the song they want to perform on the “ADHD Tour” if chosen, and complete their Tully profiles so Joyner can get in touch with all winners individually to arrange the following steps.
Joyner Lucas has revealed a ground-breaking opportunity that will allow an up-and-coming performer from each leg of his upcoming “ADHD Tour” to take the stage with him.
To seize the opportunity, artists will need to signup for Joyner’s startup platform Tully, upload the song they want to perform, and create their profile so Joyner can contact the winners. Prospective participants can go to https://www.tullyconnect.com/adhd-tour-opportunity to learn more.
On September 16 in Minneapolis, the New England native will begin his cross-country, 18-stop tour with West Coast rapper Symba. The tour will end on October 12 in Phoenix. Joyner will choose a winner from each city in the coming weeks and offer a chance to perform on stage alongside him to a total of 18 different performers.
The objective of Joyner is to give up-and-coming musicians a national stage on which to display their talent, increase the number of their fans, and gain exposure in front of representatives from the music business, marketers, and other professionals.
Just last month, Bobby Shmurda hit The Party Starters Podcast and had high praise for Joyner Lucas, dubbing him the “Master P of Our Generation.”
Bobby contextualizes the remark during the conversation by shedding background on Joyner’s career as an independent musician and estimating that Joyner makes about $250,000 per month in revenue by owning all of his music.
Bobby wonders why Joyner, who has recorded platinum and gold-certified hits including “ISIS,” “I’m Not Racist,” “Stranger Things,” “ADHD,” and “Your Heart,” among others, doesn’t get more attention. According to Bobby, if the industry celebrated his accomplishment, record companies would lose all of their negotiating power.
“I’m going to talk about that nigga in every interview,” Shmurda said. “He’s like a Master P in our generation. He’s up off only giving up 20% of his music off distribution. They don’t want to talk about Joyner Lucas becuase they don’t want a bunch of Joyner Lucas.”
Bobby and Joyner collaborated on the “Shmoney Challenge” earlier this summer, offering $25,000 to an independent artist who joined Joyner’s Tully platform, downloaded the Shmoney track, and uploaded the harshest rhyme over the instrumental.

In the midst of his anti-Pete Davidson campaign last month, Kanye West took great pains to bat back criticisms that minimized his issues to him being “crazy.” In fact, he’s taken issue with that particular label ever since revealing his bipolar disorder in 2018. Now, he’s got a new defender in the form of Joyner Lucas. Hate him or love him, Lucas goes out of his way to try to find creative angles for many of his releases, from the “both sides” argument of “I’m Not Racist” to the chameleon-like special effects on “Will.”
Joyner keeps that tradition going with his new single, “Ye’s Not Crazy,” which he shared with a video in which he again takes on the likeness of one of his heroes to reproduce some of Kanye’s more iconic moments of the past couple of years, including his Donda listening events. A Kanye lookalike — insomuch as you can look like someone who’s been wearing masks for the past year and a half — dances in the background as Joyner compares himself to Kanye and explains his interpretation of Kanye’s outspoken philosophy.
Of course, Joyner’s been known to leap to the defense of some pretty terrible people in the past, and defending Kanye only excuses his offputting and childish behavior, so the song itself has received a mixed reception. At least it gets folks’ minds off of Joyner’s own recent meltdown, during which he berated Lollapalooza Festival for booking the objectively more popular Machine Gun Kelly as a headliner, and which he later blamed on Russian hackers.
