Jorja Smith Shares Her 2025 Tour Dates With Two New Singles, ‘Loving You’ And ‘Don’t Let Me Go’

After her appearance on Childish Gambino’s Bando Stone And The New World soundtrack cut “In The Night,” Jorja Smith makes her return with new two singles, “Loving You” and “Don’t Let Me Go.” She also revealed her tour dates for 2025 supporting her album Falling Or Flying, which will include stops in Austin, Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York throughout February and March — with new dates sure to come.

According to the new songs’ press release, “Loving You” is ten years old and was “rediscovered and revived” in a recent session. The sparse track pairs Jorja’s honeyed vocals with a warm piano track and a full-bodied gospel choir. Fellow Brit Maverick Sabre provides a counterpoint to Smith’s yearning verse, and as the song builds to a crescendo, the three vocal tracks blend into an uplifting, harmonious union. You can listen to “Loving You” above.

“Don’t Let Me Go,” on the other hand, utilizes fuller instrumentation, with a gentle acoustic guitar loop buttressing Jorja’s pining message for a former lover. You can check it out below.

Jorja Smith’s “High” Sees Her Embark On A Self-Care Journey

There is no questioning the lyrical and vocal prowess of the one and only, Jorja Smith. The Walsall, West Midlands, England artist is also one of the most consistent when it comes to delivering standout performances. So, it is no surprise to us that Jorja Smith shines once again on “High”, her newest single. In terms of brand-new music, this is her first since her 2023 album, falling or flying. However, it technically follows up the 27-year-old’s Dirty Danger remix of “Backwards” back in May. Additionally, it supersedes a tremendous feature she laid down for Childish Gambino’s last LP under that moniker on “In The Night”. The track is becoming a standout on Bando Stone and The New World, as it now has over eight million streams.

For now, Jorja Smith’s “High” seems to just be a loosie. Obviously, though, we hope for bigger things down the line for this record. On it, the “Be Honest” vocal acrobat details her current mental state which is one of self-healing. In a statement, Jorja explains it “is a song I wrote about finding a friend within myself. Even through the lows, you have to find the highs”. The way she goes about telling this journey of self-love is through rekindling with a friend she has not talked to in some time. However, it is not necessarily the friend’s fault because she knows she needs to put the pieces back together on her own. Thankfully, Jorja sees that she can do this and she knows that she’s got a good circle around her if she needs any help in the future. It really is a beautiful and uplifting cut that is a great pick-me-up whenever you’re feeling down and out.

Childish Gambino Links Up With Jorja Smith And Amaarae On ‘In The Night,’ A New ‘Bando Stone’ Soundtrack Cut

On July 6, Childish Gambino (AKA Donald Glover) put on a show at New York’s The Amph At Little Island. Per setlist.fm, Gambino’s set featured a bunch of unreleased songs, presumably from the upcoming Bando Stone And The New World soundtrack. One of them was a tune called “In The Night,” and now Gambino has shared the studio version of the song.

The track runs for about four minutes and features Jorja Smith and Amaarae. The tune gradually builds on itself, starting with a backing vocal melody and simple percussion as Gambino sings over it. Some synths and additional percussion work their way into the mix as the song continues to evolve into euphoria.

Smith and Amaarae presumably won’t be the only collaborators on the album, as Steve Lacy and Fousheé joined Gambino at the aforementioned concert.

Back in April, Glover revealed his upcoming plans. One of them is a soundtrack album for the Bando Stone movie, which he called the “final” Childish Gambino album. At the time, he also announced Atavista, an album that ended up getting released in May and is a reworked version of his 2020 album 3.15.20.

Bando Stone And The New World is out 7/19 via RCA Records. Find more information here.

Childish Gambino, Jorja Smith And Amaarae Make Magic “In The Night”

Childish Gambino has the ambition turned up all the way on his new album. His previous releases honed in on specific styles of his music, but Bando Stone and the New World is a different beast. It’s being sold as a sequel of sorts to Gambino’s equally ambitions and eclectic Because the Internet. The first single off the album, “Lithuania,” suggested that no genre was off the table. The latest Bando Stone single, “In the Night,” confirmed it.

“Lithuania” dabbled in punk and rock sounds. “In the Night,” on the other hand, is a glitchy dance track with elements of dancehall. Childish Gambino starts off subtle, with a smooth cadence and a hypnotic drum pattern. As the song progresses, though, more sonic colors arise. Jorja Smith’s vocals are filtered to suggest an echoed, etherial quality, and it works wonders. She sounds great during the middle portion of the song. Amaarae has the most eccentric delivery of all three artists, especially given the Autotone she applies to her voice. The instrumental undergoes so many changes, though, that by the time it loops back around to Childish Gambino’s heartfelt vocals, you’ll be completely enthralled. “In the Night” is an excellent follow-up, and proof that Gambino is really aiming for something unique.

Jorja Smith Revamps Select Tracks From “Falling Or Flying” On Reimagined Version

The always stunning Jorja Smith was in incredible form for her sophomore record falling or flying last year. Following her 2018 debut Lost & Found, the British R&B/soul singer put forth a versatile set of 16 songs that spanned just under 44 minutes long. Tracks like “Little Things,” “GO GO GO,” and “Greatest Gift,” were among its standouts and all of them now have new versions. Jorja Smith has just come through with a falling or flying (Reimagined) project that sees her remake some stark changes to eight songs in total.

Jorja went for a more stripped-back approach, bringing a more somber tone for this version of her critically-acclaimed LP. Perhaps the most glaring deviation is on “GO GO GO.” If you remember, the original had a faster paced pop rock instrumental with an IDGAF attitude from Jorja. On the (Reimagined) rendition, the guitar is more in the background, with beautifully tragic piano keys taking centerstage.

This project was initially teased back in late April, when Smith released the updated “Greatest Gift.” Another thing worth noting is that all of the features, like Lila Ike for example, are non-existent here. According to Clash, all of these toned-down records were made with Jorja’s long-time band in London. Be sure to support this equally captivating listen of falling or flying with the links above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album falling or flying (Reimagined) by Jorja Smith? Do you think she made the right changes for each track, why or why not? Jorja Smith, Lucky Daye & RealestK Fill Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

Another week, another R&B Season playlist update to round up the best of what the genre and its adjacent sounds had to offer this week as far as new releases. While we don’t have too much to talk about this time around, we wanted to focus on three cuts that really stood out among the rest of the pack. Moreover, the first of these is Jorja Smith’s reimagined version of her falling or flying cut, “Greatest Gift.” This time around, the percussion takes a bit of a softer approach, and it definitely feels a little more acoustic as far as the mix goes. In any case, it’s a curious comparison and one that doesn’t take away anything from the original while making this reimagining its own highlight with a killer piano solo.

Next up on our R&B Season playlist update is the latest single from Lucky Daye, “HERicane.” In contrast to the last track we talked about, this is a much funkier, more colorful, more vocally dynamic, and more summery offering that previews hotter months quite well. It’s got that disco charm despite a pretty stylistically different approach to the drums in particular, but it’s able to evoke an old-school sound without sounding too campy or dated. Overall, it just sounds really crisp and rich thanks to a lot of great interplay between its many instrumental and vocal elements.

HNHH R&B Season Playlist: Stream

Finally, we wanted to shout out the new single from RealestK, “Let Me Go.” What starts off as a sultry piano ballad eventually introduces those slow, minimal, and woozy rap-inspired percussion that sets the mood effortlessly. Vocally, this song is incredibly hazy, which can sometimes work to its detriment when the falsettos start to hit, but there’s also plenty of added atmosphere through background singing that makes up for it a bit. For those of you that want your contemporary R&B to stick to the most current traditions, this one’s probably for you.

Meanwhile, we wanted to ask what your favorite release of these was, as well as what else we missed this week that’s worth some praise. Let us know your thoughts and recommendations down in the comments section below. Also, if you haven’t heard any of these songs or our R&B Season playlist before, make sure to check it out above.
