Joe Budden Confirms He Was Punched, but Not Jumped During Night Out

Joe Budden Reacts to Logic’s “It Was a Good Day” Cover

Joe Budden has nothing for the belief he was jumped over the weekend. Rumors swirled online that Budden was jumped at a New York Strip club. This follows a separate alleged attack connected to his commentary on the real estate controversy of DJ Envy and Cesar Pina.

On Saturday’s edition of The Joe Budden Podcast, Budden revealed that he was approached by a man at a lounge with bear spray. Budden was out with a friend and stated he was warned by the bartender about the behavior of men in the building. Footage surfaced online of the event. Budden states the man behind the camera was Pina’s brother.

After what is believed to be another night out, the rumors of Budden being jumped swirled. Budden’s friend, Tony “The Closer” Robinson, tweeted to shut down the rumors.

“I just heard from Joe Budden he good y’all be hype as shit to say he got jumped,” Robinson wrote. “Like what world we celebrate n***as jumping n***as. He ain’t have a scratch on his face don’t know who he got into it with but he definitely didn’t look like he got jumped.”

Tony shared that this event had nothing to do with Envy and Pina’s case.

Joe would also speak on the issue on Instagram Live with QueenzFlip. “Nigga socked back and popped me one good time but that was it,” Budden said. “I told y’all I eat a punch well, but now we gotta go.”

Cesar Pina “Almost Got Himself” In A Lot Of Trouble, Joe Budden Explains Scuffle

Joe Budden recently faced some smoke in real life when Cesar Pina’s brother pulled up on him. For those unaware, Pina is DJ Envy’s business associate, and they both faced a lot of accusations of fraud and shady business deals recently. In fact, it even resulted in The Breakfast Club host’s former (but allegedly current) partner getting arrested. Of course, the Slaughterhouse MC commented on this situation and wasn’t too forgiving to either man. Regardless, he kept his composure when Pina’s brother confronted him, and on his podcast, he went into more detail about what happened. “Wednesday, this n***a rolled over in the spot [a bar],” the rapper began. “Totally empty, completely empty. Tuesday and Wednesday be slow. So it was completely empty in there, me and Big Mo, shout out to Mo. Me and Big Mo roll up in there and sit at the bar.

“Actually, the bar’s crowded,” Joe Budden continued. “So now I sit all the way by the bathroom. For the viewing audience at home, that’s the corner, that’s the cut away from things. You can’t be seen and all of this, yada yada yada. So me and Mo sit there, we chillin’. [I get a drink from someone unknown], the waitress says, ‘Flipping New Jersey.’ Now, I say, I only know one Flipping New Jersey. ‘Oh, s**t, maybe Cease is up in here.’ So I get up, I go outside to this little smoke section, where I could see a little.I don’t see nobody, right? So then she gives a description. ‘Nah, it’s n***a with a skully and glasses. He’s not white, but he’s not black, he’s something.’

Joe Budden Explains Confrontation With Cesar Pina’s Brother: Watch

“It’s not Cesar ‘Flipping New Jersey,’” Joe Budden continued. “So to me now, this is just a weirdo fan being funny, cool. Or maybe somebody who really likes Mo. [Cesar’s brother] sent me the drink, and he keeps getting up and going over, and he’s got some people with him. ‘Just be careful.‘ And I said, ‘Thank you, man. I appreciate that.’ Then his friend gets up, he’s walking, he positions himself at the corner of the bar. What I’m telling you is it was a lot of wocky, goofy s**t going on in there. But now the Lakers were getting smacked, I’m glued to this s**t. As soon as they go into overtime, motherf***ers in the spot hit all the lights, click-click, cut the TVs off, bong! ‘Everybody out!’ You motherf***er, you gotta be kidding me. But that’s cool. Everybody out, it ain’t but five people in there.

“See, that’s the other thing; these clips say somebody pulled up on me,” he concluded. “No, these goofy n***as was just in there. Ain’t nobody pulled up, they was there. All the news is ‘Yo, man, you smoking.’ And ‘Who’s that girl?’ F**k my safety. But anyway, I light the cig, these n***as come out and they just standing there looking like they’re waiting for the Uber. Non-threatening-looking n***as. I still don’t know who this dude is. He pulls his phone out, and that’s what you hear. ‘Budden! Budden!’ I’m like, ‘Please don’t tape me.’ I walk inside, when I walk out, and I have a few words with him. He almost got himself in a real pickle.” For more news and the latest updates on Joe Budden, stay logged into HNHH.

Joe Budden Questions City Girls’ Low Sales: “Somebody Was Trying To Hurt Them”

City Girls’ new album RAW just came out recently, and a big point of contention for the community is how low the album’s sales were. Moreover, the project was projected to debut with around 6K album-equivalent unit sales, which is disappointing when compared to similar mainstream acts (they actually debuted with 10K, which isn’t much better). While many clowned the Miami duo for their failure to perform, others believe that there’s something fishy going on here. On The Joe Budden Podcast, the MC and his co-hosts called these sales numbers into question, stating that the system isn’t reflecting their streaming success. Even if they won’t bring RAW up to staggering numbers, this metric is still not fully reflective of the audience they reached according to these commentators.

“I don’t know of an artist that signed with a major that did 6,000,” Ice expressed on the show. He suggested that this projected metric was actually for the pure album sales and not for streaming sales, and that someone leaked these low-skewed numbers to embarrass the City Girls. “I need to have that number confirmed,” Joe Budden added. “It still sounds unbelievable to me. I’m with you as far as how they counted that. Maybe it’s the pure album sales. Somebody was trying to hurt them during their release.”

City Girls’ Low Album Sales Fall Under The Joe Budden Podcast‘s Scrutiny: Watch

In addition, the cohort also addressed the idea that the City Girls might be no more soon. Given the timing of when this speculation fired up, the media personalities interpreted it as a way to garner more attention for RAW. “I just look at the timing,” Ice expressed. “We ain’t heard nothing about them breaking up like this, we haven’t seen text messages and all this stuff, until after the album dropped. Why?”

Meanwhile, the raunchy rap femcee duo addressed these low sales on various occasions, whether in interviews or by themselves. They took some accountability and responsibility for it, sharing what they think they could do a better job of in the future. Still, JT and Yung Miami also suggested that there’s something working against, so maybe there’s more to uncover about this 6K sales number. Joe Budden Continues To Roast DJ Envy Amid Scam Allegations

Joe Budden is someone who never shies away from speaking on massive topics. Overall, he has been very vocal about what is happening with DJ Envy. Envy is being accused of taking part in a real estate scam with his business partner, Cesar Pina. Pina has been arrested already, although he is currently out of jail on bond. However, Envy continues to be investigated, and many are curious as to what is going to end up coming of this.

On Joe’s podcast, he jokingly gave props to Envy for continuing with his job over at Power 105. “I got to give it to Envy,” Budden began. “He’s still at work talking about ‘Morning!’ We as the audience like, ‘N***a, you can shut up with that. It’s over for all that. Today is the day of reckoning. It’s over for all of that. The Feds is pulling up n***a.” Eventually, Budden got serious and spoke about just how serious all of this is right now.

Joe Budden Has A Laugh

“I think this is very very severe,” Budden said. “I’m not certain I’m not certain how big this is but I think it’s going to be way bigger than this. I’ve been telling you and you that for months,” Budden added, pointing at two of his co-hosts. “I think this is barely scratching the f*cking surface and I’m giving grace by just reporting on this.” Overall, Budden is very curious as to how it will play out. As for his co-hosts, they understand full well that this is not good, in the slightest.

Gucci Mane Responds To Joe Budden’s Critiques Of His Label Signings

Like many prominent and influential rappers, Gucci Mane has his own label implant. In his case that’s 1017 a platform he’s used to sign a number of unconventional rap figures. That hasn’t exactly gone well for Gucci as his artists have repeatedly ended up in trouble for one reason or another. Whether that’s being dropped by the label entirely, ending up behind bars, or in one case even being murdered, it’s been a bit of a rough ride for 1017. That was what Joe Budden focused on when he criticized the label earlier this year. He took issue with the methodology they used to sign new artists.

Now, Gucci Mane himself is responding to that criticism. He was asked about it during an interview with The Morning Hustle where he dismissed the critiques. “I think that’s unfair, y’know what I’m saying, for him to say that, but I guess he’s entitled to his opinion. But to me, who else gon’ give them a chance, y’know what I’m saying? Like, I’m not tryin’ to sign the guys who don’t need no help; I’m signing the guys who don’t nobody wanna sign. Who saying like, ‘Ooh, you got a criminal record, we gon’ stay away from you’ — them the guys I’m giving a chance,” Gucci explained. Check out his entire response to the question below.

Gucci Mane Explains His Label Tactics

Gucci Mane is fresh off the release of his new album Breath Of Fresh Air last week. The double album is a massive 24-track experience that features a number of high-profile contributors. Lil Baby, J. Cole, DaBaby, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, and many more make appearances on the project.

The city of Atlanta also joined in on the celebration of Gucci’s new album. Last week the day the project was released, October 17, was also made a city-wide holiday. The state officially declared it Gucci Mane Day, which was unsurprisingly met with plenty of jokes by fans. What do you think of Gucci Mane’s response to Joe Budden’s critiques of his label work? Let us know in the comment section below.

DJ Envy Once Revealed How Joe Budden Told Him His Real Estate Endeavors Would Land Him In Jail

If you’ve been paying attention to the news, you may have seen that DJ Envy has gotten himself into some real estate trouble. It all started when people began accusing his business partner, Cesar Pina, of taking their money and not making good on investments. Essentially, clients say Pina stole their money. Envy was not accused of stealing money, however, he was accused of bringing clients to Pina. Moreover, the two held seminars on investing in real estate, which led to more clients willing to invest.

Yesterday, it was reported that Pina was arrested on wire fraud charges. Furthermore, he was eventually released on $1 million bond. It was also said that computers and electronics were removed from the iHeartRadio offices as part of an investigation into DJ Envy. This has led to fans digging up old footage of the radio personality. In one video, seen below, Envy can be seen and heard speaking about how many refused to invest in their real estate endeavors. As it turns out, one man was actually pretty prophetic.

DJ Envy In Newly-Surfaced Clip

The man in question is none other than Joe Budden. As Envy revealed, he called Joe to tell him about investing in real estate. Budden subsequently told him no. The reason? Well, Joe thought that the whole thing was just some sort of Ponzi scheme. Moreover, he told DJ Envy that he was probably going to prison. Of course, in retrospect, those comments seem like a genuine prediction rather than a joke. However, it is important to remember that nothing has happened to Envy just yet. There is still a large part of the legal process left to be played out.

This entire story continues to develop, so be sure to stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest news and updates from around the music world. Joe Budden’s “Halfway House” Turns 15

This month marks the 15th anniversary of Joe Budden’s third studio album, Halfway House. It was released on October 28, 2008, via Amalgam Digital. The album was the first installment of a trilogy consisting of Padded Room and Escape Route, Budden’s fourth and fifth albums, respectively. Halfway House was the music industry’s first digital-only hip hop release. At the time, it was a groundbreaking tactic as entirely digital albums have become an industry standard.

Halfway House was also Budden’s first album to enter the Billboard 200 chart in five years since his Def Jam debut. It was his first independent release to do so. An independent project with a unique release strategy and a career-altering posse cut, the rapper-turned-podcaster’s third album solidified his lane. Today, we revisit Joe Budden’s Halfway House for its 15th anniversary.

Joe Budden’s Independent Grind

Following his departure from Def Jam in 2007 and his classic Mood Muzik mixtape series, Joe Budden signed with the Boston-based independent record label Amalgam Digital. His first offering for the label was a 2008 re-release of Mood Muzik 3: For Better or For Worse. The reissue, Mood Muzik 3: The Album, became his second official full-length album. It culminated Budden’s prolific mixtape run that deviated from the radio-friendly sounds of his major label debut. The Mood Muzik series introduced fans to the darker, rugged, and more vulnerable side that built him a devout fanbase.

That same year, Joe Budden released Halfway House, an album that consisted of bar-heavy lyricism like his acclaimed mixtape series. He also found his groove as an independent artist. Songs like “On My Grind” and “Go To Hell” displayed the Budden’s charismatic hunger. Halfway House notably marked a shift in Joe Budden’s career as he set out to conquer the independent space within hip hop’s blog era.

The Birth Of Slaughterhouse

The most significant moment of Halfway House is the song “Slaughterhouse.” The 7-minute posse cut saw Joe Budden team up with Royce Da 5’9”, KXNG Crooked, and Joell Ortiz for the very first time. Also featured on the song was Brooklyn rapper Nino Bless. With the exception of Bless, “Slaughterhouse” gave birth to the supergroup of the same name. A major moment for the culture, the four respected lyricists with their own cult followings joined forces to become a hip hop powerhouse. Following their union on Halfway House, the group released their debut album the following year. They eventually signed with Shady Records and released 2012’s Welcome to: Our House

While the group ultimately dissolved over time after various label struggles and Joe Budden’s retirement from rap, Slaughterhouse is still remembered by hardcore hip hop heads as a special collaboration. The birth of Slaughterhouse on Halfway House altered the trajectory of each member’s career. They became a force to be reckoned with the help of Eminem, signifying the Shady 2.0 era. Looking back, Halfway House was a significant moment for Joe Budden’s career as an independent artist, as well as the formation of Slaughterhouse. It set the tone for the next phases of both his solo and collaborative journeys.

Joe Budden Responds To JR Writer Wanting To Battle Him

As if Joe Budden hasn’t been in enough rap beef as of late, it looks like he sparked a new one. Moreover, during a recent episode of his podcast, he blasted an old verse from rapper and freestyle veteran JR Writer on his 2018 song “Presidential.” JR responded to this attack by challenging the podcaster and fellow rapper to a battle, sharing an embarrassing clip of Budden free styling and getting boos from the crowd. “Now JR… You don’t even believe what you’re typing to me lol,” the Slaughterhouse MC responded to Writer’s attacks. Furthermore, these were a series of tweets and Instagram Story posts in which the Harlem lyricist continued to go at the media personality for his comments.

“‘And y’all booing the hard s**t’ [laughing emoji],” JR Writer quoted Joe Budden while sharing the clip of him getting booed at a freestyle, which was the one Joe responded to. “Since you keep speaking on me, let’s jump in the ring so I can smoke the s**t out you bozo @JoeBudden. If not shut ya hating a** up! Lol.”

Drake Reposts Tweet That Calls Out People Who Have Been Critiquing His Music

Lately, it seems as though everyone has something to say when it comes to Drake’s newest project For All The Dogs. Few artists command the spotlight quite like Drake. And the album has been a hot topic of discussion since it dropped last week. From the circulating back and forth surrounding the conversation Joe Budden had on his podcast, to various social media critics expressing their own opinions, reactions to this latest album have been mixed. It seems as though Drake has taken notice, and has been responding to some of the hate. Drake has certainly been in tune with the buzz surrounding his album. However, he hasn’t shied away from addressing some of the negative feedback. This all started when Joe Budden, on his podcast, offered a critical analysis of the album.

Moreover, audiences should recall that last week, Budden elicited a lengthy response from Drake who called him the poster child of failure. This came in response after Joe Budden critiqued the album and called Drake out for messing with 25 year olds. However, in a post that surfaced social media platform X today, one person took Drake’s side and said, “Y’all should stop tryna hide behind music critique and just go ahead and tell the personal stories of what bruh did to y’all lmao. Cuz this s**t is insane at this point.” Drake took notice of this and agreed. He reposted this stance on his story, and social media quickly caught wind of it.

Are People Overdoing It With The Album Hate?

This is all a testament to the direct interaction between artists and their audiences in the age of social media. Drake’s willingness to engage with comments, both positive and negative, highlights the power that online platforms have in shaping modern music culture. As the debate continues to unfold, one thing remains certain: the ever-present influence of social media in shaping the narrative around musical releases and the artist’s role in navigating this digital landscape.

“Na cus its a trend to ride the wave of hate nowadays. nobody was DR this much a few yrs ago,” one person commented. “I mean the album is good, very good at best. Not a great album but people acting like it’s horrible are just trolling or have an agenda,” another said. In other news, the numbers don’t lie. The first week projections For All The Dogs have been revealed, and the project had the seventh largest opening day in Spotify history. It has been reported that Drake sold 411K album-units in the first week. This is his biggest debut since 2021’s Certified Lover Boy. What’d you think of the project?

Joe Budden Fires Back At Critics Saying He’s Unqualified Amid Drake Feud

Joe Budden went after his haters during the latest episode of his podcast, this week, explaining why he’s qualified to speak on hip-hop music. The comments come amid his ongoing feud with Drake over his negative response to For All The Dogs.

“This certainty that I speak with, it’s not internet bravado,” Budden began. “It’s not like competence from what’s commented. It’s not fragile. I speak this way because I did it. I lived it, and I’m still here to talk about it… There will never be a space on this earth where there’s a music conversation happening and I’m not qualified to have it. I have done this at every fucking level and am only still here because of my fortitude and my ability to innovate and be at the precipice when counted out at all times. I beg of you, if I’m not qualified to talk music, if I’m not qualified to discuss rap as it drops at a time when nobody is discussing rap as it drops, then who the fuck is?”

As for his feud with Drake, things popped off when Budden argued that For All The Dogs is rap for “children.” “[Drake is] rapping for the children,” he said. “I had to look up how old this n***a was when I finished listening to the album … You gonna be 37 years old. Get the fuck away from some of these younger n****s, and stop fucking these 25-year-olds … Why are you still fucking the 25-year-olds? You’re a 37-year-old billionaire.”
