Joe Budden Questions City Girls’ Low Sales: “Somebody Was Trying To Hurt Them”

City Girls’ new album RAW just came out recently, and a big point of contention for the community is how low the album’s sales were. Moreover, the project was projected to debut with around 6K album-equivalent unit sales, which is disappointing when compared to similar mainstream acts (they actually debuted with 10K, which isn’t much better). While many clowned the Miami duo for their failure to perform, others believe that there’s something fishy going on here. On The Joe Budden Podcast, the MC and his co-hosts called these sales numbers into question, stating that the system isn’t reflecting their streaming success. Even if they won’t bring RAW up to staggering numbers, this metric is still not fully reflective of the audience they reached according to these commentators.

“I don’t know of an artist that signed with a major that did 6,000,” Ice expressed on the show. He suggested that this projected metric was actually for the pure album sales and not for streaming sales, and that someone leaked these low-skewed numbers to embarrass the City Girls. “I need to have that number confirmed,” Joe Budden added. “It still sounds unbelievable to me. I’m with you as far as how they counted that. Maybe it’s the pure album sales. Somebody was trying to hurt them during their release.”

City Girls’ Low Album Sales Fall Under The Joe Budden Podcast‘s Scrutiny: Watch

In addition, the cohort also addressed the idea that the City Girls might be no more soon. Given the timing of when this speculation fired up, the media personalities interpreted it as a way to garner more attention for RAW. “I just look at the timing,” Ice expressed. “We ain’t heard nothing about them breaking up like this, we haven’t seen text messages and all this stuff, until after the album dropped. Why?”

Meanwhile, the raunchy rap femcee duo addressed these low sales on various occasions, whether in interviews or by themselves. They took some accountability and responsibility for it, sharing what they think they could do a better job of in the future. Still, JT and Yung Miami also suggested that there’s something working against, so maybe there’s more to uncover about this 6K sales number. Young Thug’s Comments On Lil Wayne Tour Bus Shooting Admissible In YSL RICO Trial

Back in 2015, Young Thug was taken into custody in Georgia. He spoke to police about Lil Wayne’s tour bus shooting, despite him being in jail on a separate charge. A majority of his conversation with police surrounded the shooting, and it went on for quite some time. While he was never charged in relation to the shooting, authorities thought he could have been involved, and chatted with him for roughly two hours about it.

Young Thug has pushed for the conversation to be suppressed, claiming that since he had no attorney present, it shouldn’t be used in his YSL RICO case. Unfortunately for him, however, Judge Ural Glanville ruled recently that since he chose to waive his right to have a lawyer present and was never charged, the conversation is admissible in court.

Young Thug Takes A Loss Ahead Of RICO Trial

“[Young Thug] o##### waived his Miranda rights before speaking with Detective Raissi and Agent Cunningham. [Young Thug’s]’ statements to them were voluntary and thus admissible. The evidence presented showed that [Young Thug] voluntarily waived his Miranda rights o#####, despite his refusal to sign the Miranda waiver form, after [Young Thug] was read his rights. An oral waiver of Miranda is a proper waiver of such rights,” Judge Glanville said.

As previously reported, his YSL RICO trial continues to see delays due to a jury selection process that’s taking longer than expected. It even broke a Georgia record earlier this week, becoming the longest jury selection process in the state’s history. Young Thug wants to call various major names to the witness stand to speak on his behalf once it begins. Reportedly, these people include T.I., Killer Mike, Lyor Cohen, and Trae Tha Truth. What do you think of Young Thug’s conversation with police about Lil Wayne’s tour bus shooting being admissible in court? Chris Brown Faces U.K. Police Questioning Over Alleged Glass Bottle Assault At Nightclub

U.K. police will reportedly question Chris Brown over an alleged assault he committed against a man in a nightclub. Moreover, the accuser claimed that he was hit over the head with a glass bottle in a brawl. According to The Sun, the man in question went to a hospital following the fight at Tape nightclub in Hanover Square. While they were non-life-threatening injuries, it’s yet another instance of controversial actions from Brown this week after he reportedly mocked disabled people.

“A row broke out with a guy and Brown’s crowd and the man was hit over the head with a bottle,” a witness said of the incident. “He tried to get up off the ground to escape but he was surrounded and then punched and kicked before security broke it up.” Furthermore, local police authorities reviewed CCTV footage and seek a conversation with the R&B star when he returns to England for performances at The O2. Also, the artist recently tossed a fan’s phone at a show recently, adding damning context to these allegations.

In addition, the 33-year-old recently spoke on an altercation he faced at a club. Furthermore, a video surfaced online of Brown getting testy with a stranger in a club. Then, he took to social media to say he was ready to take things further. “You know you tucked your tail,” he wrote, “you was scared to come outside. You would’ve been doing TIK TOKs from a hospital bed. Weird a** n***a.” Of course, these revelations came after Brown’s intense social media rants about people trying to call out his wrongful behavior.

Meanwhile, the singer’s latest collab with Chlöe drew ire on social media due to said history of violence against women. However, the Bailey sister responded to these pushbacks on Creed III‘s red carpet. “I just want the music and art to speak for itself,” she expressed. “I’m excited for In Pieces, dropping March 31, and I have very exciting news dropping tomorrow. So, I can’t wait to let my fans know.” Regardless of your take on that, stick around on HNHH for the latest on Chris Brown.
