Earlier this month, both Jhené Aiko and Big Sean celebrated their birthdays. Both recording artists turned 35 this year. While they’ve been surely showered with blessings, they’ve also had their share of struggles to deal with too. Most recently, the R&B songstress witnessed her 2020 Range Rover’s theft while dining with her family at Tasty Noodle House in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, the mother of two left her luxury vehicle with the restaurant’s valet around 8:30 PM last Saturday night. At the time, Aiko handed her keys over to the employee before heading inside to grab a delicious meal with her loved ones. Just 30 minutes later, however, she happened to spot someone driving away in her Range Rover. Though it was unexpected, the California native assumed a staff member was simply relocating her SUV.
Jhené Aiko’s Post-Birthday Blues
Unfortunately for her and Sean Don, the whip was never returned to Tasty Noodle House. It remains unclear who the thief was at the time, but it’s worth noting that the establishment’s valet drivers are all in the clear. Authorities investigating the case have said there was an extra key kept inside Aiko’s Range Rover, making the criminal’s work far easier than they likely anticipated. Police are continuing to search for the missing vehicle, but as of right now, no arrests have been made and no sightings have been reported.
The ordeal has surely been stressful for the “Sativa” singer, but she’s not letting it stop her from celebrating. On Saturday (March 25), she shared a heartwarming post on her Instagram feed, wishing her beau a happy birthday. “We love you!! We appreciate you!! Thank you for my twin ,” she wrote in the caption, referring to their recently born son, Noah. “You’re doing a great job! Happy New Year and cheers to 35.” See Jhené Aiko’s heartwarming message for yourself below, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.
We have not stopped doting on the fact that Jhené Aiko and Big Sean are brilliant at making music. What’s more endearing, however, is their brilliance at making and remaking up. Their relationship is a machine that knows what spoilers to withhold even before the novel is written! Almost all things in empirical life do not qualify as “steady”; nevertheless, some romantic feelings subliminally make the cut! Love can face constrictions and still be a constant.
The story began in a studio, a predictable place, which in any case, proceeded to prefigure a hit-and-miss almanac. Jhené spun on to attribute credit for their happiness to a firm platonic foundation, in a 2017 Billboard interview. Oh there’s more- she called him “family”! A relationship with a man who was technically taken was painfully what held them back initially. Thing is, Jhené’s overripe breakup could not quite do the needful, as Naya, and then, Ariana, surfaced notably. When the opportunity came plain as a pikestaff, the two did not waste it. From there, things started to get serious, rad, racy, and what have you. Although we can’t prophesy, we can chronologize the so-far… and chronologize we shall…
Twenty88 Theorized (2016)
Twenty88 is formally described as a hip hop duo and informally described as, well, Jhené Aiko and Big Sean. It’s beyond a career “faction”- it’s an appellation of their journey. In other words, it all dates back to Twenty88 (pun intended!). The duo’s album-namesake became publicly available in April 2016, to the excitement of every prospect- connoisseur or novice. As foreshadows would have it, the album centered on relationships, turning a music industry cliché into a serviceable tool.
Twenty88 was quite the season, actually. Early on would have been perfect timing, but complexly, a marriage– not a mere relationship- interfered with it. It didn’t stop the tour kiss though. Big Sean had minced his words in admitting his love for her, but the kiss told us way more. This was by no means 100%, as shippers were still in their control rooms, hankering for solid news.
Jhené Aiko and Big Sean: Twenty88 Practicalized (2016-2018)
Jhené’s divorce was the first separation from a third party that didn’t meet an obstruction. The match made in heaven evolved into a match made in NBA games, award shows, Coachella… in summary, earth! The two had started giving in to their feelings light years before the divorce was finalized. It was far from a small miracle when tattoo parlor bells started chiming. She tattooed his face on her arm, to the delight of fans, who thenceforth ceased to be stark shippers.
The tattoo move was a sonnet, ode; name it… but Jhené’s remark a month before, was a newborn genre! “He’s L-O-M-L”, she said in the interview. Enthrallingly, the initialism was bound to expose withheld details: a shortening complex is often a shoutout to your obsessions. This one obsession did encounter a setback though, as she had her tattoo remodeled into astrolatry?? People feared it foreran bad news, and in March 2019, the judicious fans turned out to be regrettably right.
Breakup “Postpartum” (2019)
Big and Jhené did not hesitate to come out with their feelings- even after a breakup! In an IG comment, Jhené touchingly proclaimed her love for Big Sean, using outrightly Titanic expressions. Big Sean reciprocated the display in an appreciative tweet, acknowledging her support toward “Single Again”. “I love you unconditionally”- those were his timely words- the breakup was the very “condition” that justified the adverb. Speaking of “Single Again”, the ex-lovers clearly used music as a coping mechanism- and as a carrier pigeon! Jhené cleared up Sean-based misconceptions about her song “Triggered”; meanwhile, “Single Again” was more of the proxy bond.
The “single” in “Single Again” was very philosophical, as Sean’s twitter thread had hinted at. It however did not hide the fact that their split was not on the grounds of a feelings-decline. This personal song doubled as a diplomatic song, given it got us out of the dark substantially. Not mentioning Jhené Aiko’s background vocals, the very sauce in the narrative, would be a serious omission. In the main, the two were superb at transmuting their feelings into positive energy. As far as the breakup postpartum was concerned, they handled it, killed it, and slayed in it!
Big Aiko Coruscates (2019-2022)
“None of Your Concern” was the first signal that the post-split phase had started to get libidinous. The song afforded Big Sean the platform to reminisce about making “someone” climax nine times in one day. Fans had then become “shippers on resumption”. The points where you couldn’t totally discard the dating rumors were quite numerous. Lunch date, birthday date, amorous pictures… there was hardly any dating vocabulary you couldn’t use for their look-sees. It kept getting more piquant, as Valentine’s Day wriggled its way into that lexicon as well!
Back to the IG dashboard, Big Sean congrats-babyed her on the release of Chilombo. On her birthday, he reiterated this in a caption: “always proud but never surprised”. He went further to tap into her Titanic vibe: “I love you from da past life to the next”. Not even the pandemic could halve their distance! The same lockdown was very much in effect when Sean and Jhené jocosely alluded to a marriage proposal. Their eternal play date, of course, spilled over to 2022. Jhené marked Sean’s birthday with pictures from their relationship and a chevalier-conferring caption. The season was a merry-go-round, but as it would turn out, the longer route takes you there too!
Jhené Aiko and Big Sean: A Literal Postpartum (2022-2023)
By the second half of 2022, Big Sean couldn’t wait to be a dad, and he was, in fact, going to be one! IG sentiments seemed to tell it all, until Sean took his soon-to-be-expanded ménage to his hometown. The audience gave a hysterical roar after an LA performance, when the two revealed they were expecting a boy. All the more, the couple consolidated the global ambience with a Halloween tribute to Juno, a 2007 film. Strategically enough, the film was about a pregnant teenager- Jhené is a genius! – or whoever came up with the idea.
December last year, something caught our eyes yet again. Big Sean flashed a ring in the studio, in the course of marriage-suggestive lines. Curious fans, as usual, had a lot to deduce from this. Indeed, guesses can score some points, but only the actual couple can “know” well enough. It’s certain to all regardless, that they understand their bond on a higher level. Only two months ago, they were singing “I Know” to the newest Twenty88ian. Parenting takes a lot of falsetto, and fortunately, that’s right up their alley!
Ethereal songstress, hardworking mother, and spiritual healer are all checked off on Jhene Aiko’s proverbial list of accomplishments. Now, she can add a growing entrepreneur to the roster as she unleashes a line of crystal sound healing products. The Slauson Hills, Los Angeles native dropped the collection of ALLEL sound bowls on Feb. 22 in an effort to engage the collective throughout their healing journey. She says it best on Sail Out’s “Stay Ready (What A Life)”: “there’s no better time than now.”
Jhene Aiko has used sound bowls in several past performances and meditations, making this an all-too-fitting venture. On the Go to Heal website, the singer details the significance behind ALLEL. Each sound bowl received a bit of Jhene’s own “living light [&] eternal love” as she activated and played each one herself. In an Instagram Reel to promote the sound bowls, the mom of two previews reverb from each of the instruments. ALLEL “represents balance, protection, and divine guidance,” which is made present by the energy given off the bowls’ vibrations. The description also provides imagery of the “all-encompassing, all-embracing” symbol, which will be featured in the brand’s upcoming line of jewelry.
Jhene Aiko Previews Different Sound Bowls In New Line
Each alchemy sound bowl can be heard on their respective landing pages. Most start at $747, going up to as much as $1200 and better for their larger versions. They’re also available in sets, with most nicknamed after Jhene’s songs and projects. And for those still not too sure what this all means, the singer graciously provides a FAQ page. You can shop the ALLEL collection in full here.
In an interview with Variety, Jhené Aiko explains how she incorporates the sounds on each Chilombo track. As a teenager, Aiko found them to be “an alternative to self-medicating,” the 34-year-old tells. “I just found them very relaxing and soothing, and even addictive to play.” In addition to her new sounds, Jhene has also found success in the release of her Sleep Soul projects, a collection of R&B curated specifically for babies. Surely she and Big Sean’s son, Noah, is a fan. The music-bred baby is a fan of his mother’s music, proven in TikToks with his celebrity parents.
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, SOHH spotlights couples we love seeing in love. From celebrity crushes turned relationships to cooking couples like Moneybagg and Ari — everyone is SOHH in love, and we love it! SOHH, it’s Valentine’s Day, and we couldn’t celebrate without spotlighting our favorite hip-hop couples we can’t stop gushing about! Yo […]
Motherhood looks great on Jhené Aiko. Last year, the “While We’re Young” songstress welcomed her and Big Sean’s first child together. The musical couple named their little boy Noah. They’ve loved gushing about him all over social media since his birth.
Of course, the R&B starlet has been familiar with parenting for some time now. She’s already a girl mom to 14-year-old Namiko Love Browner, who she shares with O’Ryan. At the time, she was in her early 20s but was able to be a positive role model for her daughter as they grew up together.
This past weekend, Aiko and her beau were very active on TikTok, posting all kinds of fun family content for their fans. We heard them serenade their little one with a duet of their highly favoured “I Know” collaboration. They also hit each other with pillows while answering questions about their relationship.
On Instagram, the California native also dropped off some heartwarming content in the form of a photo dump. “Nami & Noah’s mom checking in,” she wrote in the caption.
The first picture sees her posing in the mirror, rocking curly hair and a black tank top. Afterward, we see a stunning selection of creative makeup looks, sultry selfies, and sneak peeks into the TWENTY88 collaborator’s luxurious home.
Aiko’s last slide provides a friendly reminder to readers – “Confidence is calm, ego makes a lot of noise.”
In the comment section, her second baby daddy didn’t hesitate to hype his girl up. “Got damn big titties,” the “Guap” hitmaker wrote alongside a heart emoji. So far, nearly 8K viewers have given his hilarious response a like.
She and Big Sean are happier than ever as a family with their new baby, but the singer didn’t have such a smooth experience with her first pregnancy. When she and former boyfriend O’Ryan realized they were expecting in their early 20s, the OnlyFans creator made the decision that he couldn’t be Aiko’s partner and be a good father to their child.

Looking at Big Sean and Jhené Aiko, it’s easy to assume they’ve been together forever. Not only are they musically and stylishly in sync, but they also make a great romantic pair too. Before they settled down with each other, the rapper spent time with Ariana Grande and the late Naya Rivera, among others. Aiko, for her part, was romantically involved with Omarion’s brother, O’Ryan.
The two got together at a very young age before either of their careers had truly taken off. It was in their early 20s when the R&B starlet realized she was pregnant. Now, she and her ex co-parent their 14-year-old daughter, Namiko Love Browner.
Things between O’Ryan and Aiko obviously didn’t work out, and for years, fans have wondered why. Recently, the OnlyFans creator sat down on the Jst Us Podcast to spill some tea, explaining why he and the California native went their separate ways after having a baby.
“We were very young,” he began. “We were in a relationship, like 18, 19. Very young love, and when she got pregnant, for me, I had to make a decision.” The 35-year-old went on to say that his own father wasn’t present in his life. He also lacked strong male role models to lead the way for him.
“I was afraid of messing up,” O’Ryan admitted. “I can’t be a good baby father and a good man. Haven’t seen it, for me, in my life, personally.” He essentially told Aiko his desire to be “the best father” for their little one, and a friend to her, but he didn’t want to act like he could be with her and fully commit to a relationship.
The guest told hosts that the “I Know” songstress stayed with him throughout her whole pregnancy, but he encouraged her to still have her own life and do as she pleased.
“For me, I wanted to focus on what kind of father I was going to be… One thing at a time,” he said of his apparent inability to multitask. “She was 20, I was 21 when Namiko was born. She was working really hard at her career, I was trying to figure things out for myself as well… I was really just supportive.”
Aiko may not have had the opportunity to build a conventional family unit with O’Ryan. However, she and Big Sean appear to be doing just fine following the birth of their first child together last year.

Big Sean & Jhené Aiko just shared some cute TikTok videos with their son, Noah. While he was born in November of 2022, we haven’t seen much from the family since then. Moreover, the two artists spent a lot of time recently focused on their child, and are still giving him a lot of love.
Furthermore, Sean posted one of the TikToks circling social media to his account. In the clip, they sing their song “I Know” to each other while Jhené carries Noah in her arms. Moreover, she patted the little one on the back as the Detroit rapper stared longingly at her. As far as this writer knows, this isn’t a part of a larger trend, just a celebrity couple admiring each other. Also, they’re calling back to when their chemistry first developed as the duo TWENTY88 on Sean’s album Dark Sky Paradise.
Meanwhile, Aiko posted a TikTok to her account of the two doing a couples challenge together. Basically, the TikTok sound asks them a question such as “Who loves harder?”, “Who eats the most?”, and “Who said ‘I love you’ first?” Then, they had to tap (or playfully hit) whoever the prompt corresponded to with a pillow. If you’ve ever been bored with your partner on a late Wednesday night, you know the vibes.
However, Big Sean also caused marriage rumors to swirl online after he teased new music while pointing at a ring on his fourth finger. “They rather see me buried alive and barely alive,” he rapped. “How many friends I got to have my casket carried outside / Probably not as many would stand and watch me married outside.” Moreover, this is big for Sean, who previously stated he’d be taking a break from music to focus on parenting.
“Well, I’m definitely taking some time for it to just be us,” he expressed. “You can’t really put a time limit on it.”
Still, what do you think of Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s TikTok videos with their son Noah? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest pop culture gossip and wholesome relationship moments.
Big Sean and Jhene Aiko are enjoying spending their time with their new bundle of joy. Their son, Noah, was born this past November, as the parents revealed via Instagram. In a recent post on her Instagram story, Aiko shared a picture of her with Noah, breastfeeding. The story was captioned “2 months.”
Since the birth of Noah, both Aiko and Sean have remained fairly low-key on social media. Sean shared a picture of himself holding Noah on Thanksgiving, captioned “First holiday wit my big boy Noah.”
Aiko has since released the second volume of her Sleep Soul album series, which contains R&B-influenced lullabies composed ideally for babies to help them fall asleep.
At Christmas time, Sean shared a photo gallery of him and the family on Instagram, which has since been deleted, celebrating Noah’s first Christmas.
“My Boy first Christmas, Santa had to make an appearance for him,” read the post’s caption (per People) “Happy Holidays! Love on yo people, they only here for a limited time.”
In terms of music, Sean made an appearance on Ab-Soul’s most recent album, Herbert. He also took to Twitter last month to reveal that he is working on new music of his own, noting that he is “85% done recording” his new album.
Nearly two months after giving birth to her and Big Sean’s son Noah, Jhene Aiko is offering her internet fans a small glimpse of the adorable newborn. Posting to her Instagram Story and 16 million followers, the “Sativa” singer” cradles him in her arms with the caption “two months.”
Aiko welcomed Noah with the Detroit rapper in November 2022. She wrote on Instagram at the time, “After 24 hours of labor, a total lunar eclipse, and while it was pouring rain… he came my baby Yoda, my Sani .”
Noah is the first child for Big Sean and the second for Aiko, who also shares a teenage daughter with singer O’Ryan.
The new parents, who previously formed the hip-hop duo Twenty88 several years ago, have been working on their next project together. Sitting down with Billboard last year, the California native revealed, “With the first Twenty88, we were playing characters — and that was really fun because we both like to act, and love watching movies. Expect more theatrics on the next one.”
“I’m working on a few other projects too that I’m really excited to share,” she continued. “I don’t want people to be disappointed if it doesn’t happen when I want, but it will be when the time is right, because I like to be intuitive with my releases.”
On maintaining privacy in the public eye, Aiko also told the outlet, “Both of us have learned to be more private in our relationship, and treat it like the special thing it is. It’s the same with my relationship with my daughter. I’m not going to post everything, because we’re being more present with each other. It doesn’t have to be shared to be real.”
Big Sean also recently announced his return to the music scene, saying last month that new music will come in 2023.
Are you excited about music from the couple this year? Let us know your thoughts below in the comments.
R&B fans received plenty of gifts from their favorite artists long before the Christmas season in 2022. Ari Lennox returned with her first album in three years with Age/Sex/Location while SZA made her way back into our hearts with SOS, her first body of work since 2017. Newcomers like Amber Mark, Lokre, Giveon, and more made their mark in the game with their debut albums while seasoned vets like PJ Morton, Robert Glasper, Kehlani, and Alex Isley continued to do what they do best.
Despite all we got in 2022, there was also a lot that we didn’t get over the course of the year. Some artists were hard at work crafting their next musical presentations to the world, others pushed their initial 2022 releases back a year, and as for the rest, well, we’re just hoping they release something soon.
So aside from writing resolutions for 2023, let’s also take a moment to share our anticipations for the new year – that is the most anticipated R&B albums of 2023. Here are 16 artists we hope to receive albums from next year with 14 coming from the R&B world and the remaining two living in afrobeats.
Of all the albums on this list, Kelela’s Raven is the only one that we actually have a set release date for. The D.C. singer will share her long-awaited sophomore album on February 10 which comes five and a half years after the release of her celebrated Take Me Apart debut. Kelela has described Raven as a “15 track deep-dive into facets of dance music that have always excited me” and her “first breath taken in the dark, an affirmation of black femme perspective in the midst of systemic erasure and the sound of our vulnerability turned to power.”
Baby Rose
Baby Rose’s last project arrived in 2021 with To: You (A Holiday Joint), but the D.C. soul singer hopefully has something in store for us next year. Her captivating voice was most recently used in October for her double-sided single “Go B/W Fight Club” which arrived two years after her stellar debut album To Myself. There’s no telling what kind of music will get on Baby Rose’s sophomore album, but at the very least, we hope it arrives sometime in 2023.
It’s been two years since Bryson Tiller made his grand return to the music world following a three-year absence that featured little to no music. That return was Anniversary, and with that project’s release, came the announcement that a previously-mentioned effort, Serenity, would see the light of day soon. At the top of 2021, Tiller said that Serenity would be a triple disc release with a pop, rap, and R&B side. Tiller certainly has the versatility to pull this off, as his recent releases “Outside” and “Gotta Move On” suggest. It’s just a matter of time until we as listeners can be the judge of that.
Chlöe has been hard at work on her debut solo album Chlöe ever since Chloe x Halle impressed the world with their sophomore effort, Ungodly Hour. Chlöe’s own body of work will be a bit different from what we heard on Ungodly Hour as her “Have Mercy,” “Treat Me,” “Surprise,” and “For The Night” singles depict both contextually and sonically. While it still remains to be seen who will guest beside Chlöe on her album, we do have an idea of what Chlöe will sound like. “In the beginning, you can tell that [the person] who is singing is like a bird with broken wings,” she said in an interview with Allure. “As time went on, you can hear me finding my strength and confidence.”
In 2022, afrobeats had one of the strongest years in its modern era. Artists like Wizkid, Rema, Burna Boy, and Asake contributed to the genre’s greatness over the course of the year. A notable name that was missing from the mix was Davido who will soon enter his third year without a new album following 2020’s A Better Time. With ear-pleasing tunes like “Champion Sound” and “Stand Strong” out as possible previews of what’s the come, there’s no doubt that Davido will take the helm to show off afrobeats’ continued and undeniable growth. Plus, with a promise to return in March, we may not have to wait too long to see it all unfold.
Boy bands and girl groups are more or less a thing of the past nowadays, but the British singing trio FLO is using the open space to stand out. The female group comprised of singers Stella, Jorja, and Renée released their debut EP The Lead in 2022, and now have plans to share their debut album in the near future. Speaking of that future, it seems to be very bright for FLO as they’ve already made their television debuts in both the US and UK in addition to being the first British group to win the Brit Award for Rising Star, an honor previously received by Adele, Sam Smith, Jorja Smith, Florence and the Machine, and Ellie Goulding. The sky is the limit for FLO.
Frank Ocean
In all honesty, there hasn’t been a true sign that Frank Ocean will drop music in 2023. However, there are enough clues for us fans who’ve been waiting since 2016 to have just enough hope that he will. Frank is set to headline Coachella in 2023. He shared a nine-minute track on Christmas Day in 2021, effectively proving that he’s indeed in the studio — even if it’s sporadically. He even cleared out his Instagram posts which artists have often used as a rollout before the rollout in a sense. Nonetheless, these examples mean nothing just as much as they could mean something. So with that, we’ll just have hope that Frank returns with a body of work that is as artistically captivating as Channel Orange and Blonde, so much so that it joins the debate of which out the three is truly his best output.
Janelle Monáe
Best way to describe how I’m feeling on this birthday. It’s float season for me baby. Floating in gratitude. feeling much lighter. Fucked around and got more FREE. I’m not the same nigga. I just … Float Love you. pic.twitter.com/QsSZSqXxuZ
We most recently saw Janelle Monáe on the big screen through her role as Andi in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. However, it’s been a while since we received music from her. Monáe’s last album, Dirty Computer, dropped in 2018, and since then, she’s only dropped singles for inclusions in various movies. That changed with a preview of a new song to celebrate her 37th birthday to start December. Furthermore, Atlantic Records’ CEO Craig Kallman confirmed in an interview with Variety that Monáe has new music set to come out in 2023. Turns out, Glass Onion is just the start of what could be an impressive run for Monáe.
Jhené Aiko
Jhené Aiko’s last album Chilombo was her most celebrated and critically acclaimed album. It gave her three Grammy nominations, topped R&B album charts, and landed on multiple year-end lists. A lot has happened to Jhené since then. She gave birth to her second child and first with Big Sean. She launched her own record label Allel Sound through Def Jam. Nonetheless, there’s a decent chance that Jhené gives fans some music in 2023. It could be her fourth album or her long-awaited second album as one-half of Twenty88 with Big Sean. We’ll just have to see which one, if either, gets released next year.
Kiana Lede
When this album actually drops you guys better be givin this same energy I’m gettin now while you all are askin for it
Kiana Lede has one of the best voices in R&B today, it’s just unfortunate that we haven’t heard from her in some time. Don’t fret though, that reminder will surely be delivered in 2023 when she arrives with her second album and follow-up to 2020’s KIKI. Her eagerness to release this project has been made clear on social media multiple times over the past few months. She even dropped an EP, Unfinished Business, on SoundCloud to hold fans over and give them a taste of what’s to come next year – and based on that EP, what’s next is definitely worth the wait.
Masego
Before I fully get into the season of promoting my own music, this is what I’ve been on lately. pic.twitter.com/3Z00LYXYkX
There’s no telling what Masego has in store next for his fans. It could be a traditional R&B and jazz release like his 2018 debut Lady Lady and it could be more flavorful like his 2020 Studying Abroad EP. Regardless, there’s no doubt that the multi-talented artist will deliver an equally impressive and intricate body of work for his second album. There’s already a collection of performances in place thanks to his You Never Visit Me Tour set to kick off in March, which is a pretty good sign that his new album could arrive bring the official start of spring.
Mariah The Scientist’s sharp pen is about this put on full display when she releases her third album at some point in 2023. Recent examples of her songwriting were noticeable through the viral “Spread Thin” which was housed on Buckles Laboratories Presents: The Intermission and “Aura” from Ry Ry World. It’s these tender lovelorn songs that have made Mariah The Scientist so enjoyable, and together with fun records like “Stone Cold” and slightly darker submissions like “Bout Mine,” there’s enough to look forward to for album No. 3.
PARTYNEXTDOOR
Just like he did after 2017’s Seven Days, PARTYNEXTDOOR’s activity in the music world after his fourth album PARTYMOBILE has been sparse. A single here, a feature there, SoundCloud songs put on streaming services here, and a post giving fans some hope of something new on the way there. Time says that PARTYNEXTDOOR’s next album is likely to arrive in 2023, more so than it was in 2022. However, with just two projects to his name in the last five years, it’s clear that PARTYNEXTDOOR moves on his own time and when he’s ready, he’ll pop back up with something. Let’s just hope it’s in 2023.
Tems
Btw I never stopped producing. I just wasn’t ready to share it. I told @GuiltyBeatz give me all the beats that I will NEVER do in this life. And the result was IF ORANGE WAS A PLACE.
My Debut Album is packed with my production. And I’m 100x better than I was 3 years ago.
For someone who didn’t release a project this year, Tems had a big year in 2022. It came in large part through profiles that gave us a closer look into her life, moments with huge stars like Rihanna and Beyonce, and contributions to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film. On this music side of things, it hasn’t been long since Tems dropped a project with her most recent being 2021’s If Orange Was A Place which followed her 2020 breakout For Broken Ears. The year “off” for Tems was well-deserved, but it comes with a promise for more and lots of exciting things in 2023.
Victoria Monet – Jaguar II
I’m SO READY TO PUT THIS MUSIC OUTTTTT learning patience myself for real but sheesh
I won’t know what to do myself if I have to endure another year without a Victoria Monet project. Her excellent Jaguar EP probably shudders when I storm to it for the umpteenth relisten. Realistically though, Monet hasn’t completely disappeared from the music world and her songwriting contributions to Ariana Grande’s Positions, for example, are an example of that. Nonetheless, we hope that Monet sees that it’s time that she returns with her previously announced Jaguar II EP. Until then, it’s back to Jaguar with occasional stops at “Coastin’” and “F.*.C.K.”
6lack
today marks 6 years since #FREE6LACK — and the last anniversary before we get into Season 3
My thought throughout the year was that 6lack would deliver his third album at some point during 2022. However, with just days until the year comes to an end, it’s clear that it’ll arrive in 2023. It’s only been two years since 6lack’s last project 6pc Hot was released, and ever since then, the Atlanta native has made sure not to go too long without treating supporters. 6lack stepped into the world of others through songs with Lil Durk, Lil Tjay, Eli Derby, Jacquees, Jessie Reyez, and others that made their way into our ears over the past couple of years. In 2023, we look forward to seeing 6lack create a world for himself and invite others into it for his third album.
