Amber Rose Dismisses Fans Who Turned Their Back On Drake’s Music

Amber Rose has spent most of 2024 as a defender. She turned lots of heads when she declared that she supported Donald Trump. She even spoke on Trump’s behalf during the Republican National Convention. Now, it seems the model is turning her attention towards Drake. Amber Rose hopped on social media on August 8 to show that she was playing the rapper’s classic single “Controlla.” She also took the time out to denigrate fans who claim to have jumped off the Drake wagon after a decade and a half. As far as she is concerned, the stance is disingenuous.

Amber Rose made it clear that she still rocks with the Toronto rapper, and anybody who claims not to is kidding themselves. “So we’re all gonna act like Drake’s music isn’t the soundtrack of our lives… ok,” she wrote on Instagram. Rose and Drake have had a complicated relationship over the years. The former was sampled by Drake on the Views song “Faithful,” and the two were seen spending time together in Miami in 2016. Page Six reported that the two celebs were spotted dining “in the wine room at Prime 112.”

Drake Has Shouted Out Amber Rose On Record

Drake would also reference Amber Rose on the 2018 song “Sandra’s Rose.” The rapper even shouted out Rose’s “Slut Walk” charity. “My mother had a flower shop, but I was Sandra’s rose,” he spit. “Two girls that I rope like Indiana Jones. I make them h*es walk together like I’m Amber Rose.” It hasn’t been all love from Rose, however. In 2015, the model used Drake as an example of double standards in the music scene. She criticized outlets for being openly critical of her links to men, while the rapper was said to a bachelor. While Amber Rose gets labeled a “slut,” she lamented that Drake’s escapades are considered part of his “love life.”

Amber Rose and Drake are also linked through Kanye West. Both celebrities were once close with the Chicago rapper, only to have highly publicized falling outs. Rose talked about her time dating West on the Forbidden Fruits podcast. She admitted that it was overwhelming to be with such a polarizing celebrity. “I was the first,” she noted. “I was the girlfriend and then all of the sudden I was by myself walking around.” Drake viewed Kanye West as a mentor during the first leg of the 2010s, only to beef with the rapper for the next decade. West was one of the many rappers who dissed Drake earlier this year. At least he has Amber Rose is his corner.

Andre 3000 Reveals Why Drake And Kendrick Lamar Battle Made Him Sad

Andre 3000 is a rare breed of rapper. He’s universally respected for his lyrical skills, yet never beefed with anybody. It’s like there’s an accepted hip-hop rule that nobody can (or should) test Three Stacks in a lyrical competition. Andre 3000 was unsurprisingly silent during the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle. It was actually far more surprising to hear the Outkast rapper address the situation months after the fact. He finally gave his thoughts on the battle, and who the ultimate loser was. It’s not who you think.

Andre 3000 told Crack Magazine that the battle made him sad for the music business. In particular, the people who work for Drake and Kendrick Lamar, and feed their families off of their respective success. In his estimation, those people were the ones who were truly at risk. “You got people with 100 employees,” he lamented. “You have livelihoods, empires, companies, deals – all of it can be jeopardized. If you don’t have anything to lose, sure, go for it. But if I already made it, I’m not sure it’s even worth it any more.”

Andre 3000 Enjoyed Being Referenced By K. Dot

Andre 3000 contrasted the elevated stakes that Drake and Kendrick Lamar are playing it versus the rap battles he experienced as kid. As far as he’s concerned, it’s night and day. “I got a little sad, at a certain point,” he admitted. “In early rap battles, you had kids in the park rapping against each other. But it’s not just people rapping now.” Andre 3000 occupies an interesting place within the Drake and Kendrick Lamar narrative. He’s collaborated with both artists in the past. He worked with Drake on “The Real Her” and “I Do (Remix).” He’s linked up with Lamar a few times, most notably on the N.E.R.D. song “One of You,” but none of their collabs have been officially released.

Both Drake and Kendrick Lamar hold Andre 3000 in high regard, though. The latter referenced Stacks on the diss song, “Like That.” He likened Drake and J Cole’s tough talk to the trend of seeing Andre carrying woodwind instruments with him. “Lost too many soldiers not to play it safe,” Dot raps. “If he walk around with that stick, it ain’t Andre. 3K.” Despite the context, Andre 3000 appreciated the nod. “As a 49-year-old rapper, you’re just happy to get a shoutout,” he told the aforementioned outlet. “I had to say: ‘Yeah, he got it.’”

Eminem Becomes Second Rapper To Pass 50 Billion Streams After Drake

Eminem is having a good year. The reception to his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady, has been strong. The rapper’s fun promo tour has appealed to fans who’ve long since given up on his non-Slim rebrand, and both helped him reach a major streaming milestone. The blog HipHopAllDay announced that Em has surpassed over 50 billion streams on Spotify. This makes Eminem the sixth most-streamed on the platform, and the second most-streamed rapper.

Eminem is in excellent company in terms of crossover success. The four non-hip-hop artists who are ahead of him include Justin Beiber, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Bad Bunny and The Weeknd. The Detroit rapper is closing the gap on Beiber and Sheeran, though, who both have 54 billion streams. If Eminem continues to go strong, he could very well surpass The Weeknd’s 67 billion streams. Ironically, the only other rapper on the list is the artist who tops the list: Drake. The Toronto superstar has a staggering 101 billion streams, making him the only artist in history to cross the 100 billion mark.

Eminem Is Still The Best-Selling Rapper Of All Time

Eminem may be team Kendrick Lamar at the end of the day, but he has complimented Drake in the past. He said that he will always respect the rapper during a 2019 interview with Sway. “Drake will always be in my good graces,” he noted. “Because he did something for one of my daughters that I will never forget.” Eminem also predicted that the public would turn on Drake in the 2020 song “Zeus.” He was a few years early, but not incorrect. “Drake, they’re gonna turn on you (You) one day, too (Too),” Eminem raps. “And the more you win, the sooner (Sooner) they do/They’ll be calling you a trash bin.”

Drake may be winning the streaming game, but Eminem has him beat in album sales. The Detroit rapper remains the best-selling artist in the genre’s history. He’s moved over 220 million units since he debuted in 1996, which places him in the company of artists like Whitney Houston and the Rolling Stones. He was the best-selling artists of the 2000s, and the third best-selling artist of the 2010s. Drake, by comparison, has sold 170 million units since 2009. He has time to catch up, but there’s something to be said for the longevity and success that Eminem has maintained. He’s going to be a tough one to topple.

Drake’s Father Dennis Graham Goes Viral For Flaming Hot Cheetos Outfit

Drake has been having an interesting year and that isn’t exactly a good thing. Regardless, he is marching forward and it seems like he still has the support of close friends. Overall, there is certainly one person still in his corner and that would be his father, Dennis Graham. Graham has caught flack from fans, and even Drake’s rivals like Pusha T and Kendrick Lamar. However, he continues to be himself, and can be seen out and about doing his own thing on occasion.

According to DJ Akademiks, Graham was recently seen at a convenience store where he took a photo with Reese Youngn who recognized him. However, what makes this photo particularly interesting is the outfit that Dennis Graham has on. As you will see, he is wearing some sort of sweatsuit that is completely decked out in Flaming Hot Cheetos branding. Sure, it is a bit weird, but at the end of the day, you have to make yourself stand out, some way and somehow.

JAY-Z Recorded An Iconic Drake Feature After A Grueling Two Hour Show

Drake and JAY-Z have a lot in common. Both are among the biggest rappers of all time. Both have parlayed their success into other ventures. And both maintained relevance for decades. It’s no wonder these two see each other as kindred spirits. Drake and JAY-Z have collaborated five times since 2009 (six if you count “Off That”). “Talk Up” has become a fan favorite over the years, and a recent anecdote from JAY’s engineer, Young Guru, has given fans even more respect for the 2018 release.

Drake initiated the whole thing. The rapper dropped 100 GBs of unreleased material on August 6, which included footage of him and JAY-Z making “Talk Up.” Young Guru saw the footage, and decided to shed light on the unique circumstances in which the song came together. He detailed the experience on his IG Story, and revealed that JAY-Z recorded it right after a concert. “Hov has to do a verse [for Drake],” he recalled. “We are on On the Run 2. Remember I’m the DJ. Hov hit me and simply said ‘Set up a studio in the venue’ I’m like ‘what’? But of course I get it done… He literally wrote that verse after doing a full two-hour show.”

Young Guru Shared The JAY-Z Story On Instagram

Guru’s account lines up with the footage that Drake released. The Toronto rapper is asked whether he plans to rest, but he insisted he stay up until JAY-Z sent his verse over. “I don’t want him to hit me and be like, ‘Hey, what do you think of this?’ and I’m not there to respond,” he said. JAY-Z and Guru were under the wire, but they managed to get the verse done in time. The latter recalls the lofi tech they had access to on such short notice. “I had to tether my phone to my computer to send the session to @ovo40,” he explained. “I made it too the club just in time for my set.”

Young Guru and JAY-Z were thrilled with outcome. Guru did note, on his IG Story, though, that the best musical moments often come from stressful situations. “When y’all hear this work I sometimes wonder if you understand how much goes into it,” he wrote. “Classic Nights!!!! And I killed my set lol.” “Talk Up” is not mentioned as often as other Drake and JAY-Z collabs like “Light Up” or “Pound Cake,” but the story behind it does make it an extra boost. Keep it’s creation in mind next time you listen.

Drake Admitted He Wrote This Song About Serena Williams, Even Though It Featured Rihanna

Since May, Kendrick Lamar made it impossible to mention Drake outside the context of his feud with Kendrick Lamar, which Lamar pretty unanimously won. This week, Drake provided plenty of new talking points by uploading three unreleased songs — “It’s Up” featuring 21 Savage and Young Thug, “Housekeeping Knows” featuring Latto, and “Blue Green Red” — alongside various unreleased content from his past archives. The dump is known as “100 Gigs,” billed as “100 gigs for your headtop.”

People have latched onto one behind-the-scenes video in particular, reposted on X (formerly Twitter) by someone named Ahmed.

In the video, Drake is seen in the studio smoking a hookah while “Too Good” plays. “This is more about me and Serena,” Drake said, referencing tennis GOAT Serena Williams. “It’s funny because when I make songs about women, I also make songs for them, so I know what kind of song to make — if I’m gonna talk about them, I’ll at least do them the justice of making them a song that they like.”

He continued, “So, I know Serena very well, and I know that she’ll hear it loud and clear, but she’ll also not hate me for it because it’s light-hearted.”

Drake was speaking to his mother, Sandi Graham, who was off-camera. She added, “And she is seeing someone else.” Drake exasperatingly responded, “I don’t know, Mom.”

“Too Good” featuring Rihanna, another one of Drake’s exes, was released in early 2016. Drake’s newly released video did not come with a date, but he was briefly rumored to be romantically involved with Williams in 2015. Williams was linked to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, her husband of nearly seven years, by late 2015.

We already knew at least one song was aimed at Williams, at least partially. On “Middle Of The Ocean” from Drake and 21 Savage’s 2022 joint album Her Loss, Drake rapped, “Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie / He claim we don’t got a problem but / No, boo, it is like you comin’ for sushi.” Ohanian appeared to respond by writing on X, “The reason I stay winning is because I’m relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do — including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter.”

Last month, Williams hosted the 2024 ESPY Awards and playfully shaded Drake during her opening monologue.

“If I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that none of us — not a single one of us, not even me — should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar,” the 23-time grand slam singles champion said. “He will make your hometown not like you. The next time Drake sits courtside at a [Toronto] Raptors game, they’re gonna Forrest Gump him. ‘Seat’s taken!’”

Lil Wayne Proudly Rocks XO Chain Amidst Drake And The Weeknd Beef

Lil Wayne has had beef before. The rapper went as JAY-Z multiple times in the 00s. He also squabbled with Pusha T and the rest of the Star Trak crew around the same time. In recent years, though, Weezy F. Baby has preferred to keep the peace. He’s cool with everybody not named Birdman. This approach has been most evident in 2024, when his protege Drake went to war with the rest of the superstars in the rap game. Lil Wayne has maintained support for Drake without getting too involved. The rapper’s recent style move, however, has some fans scratching their head.

Lil Wayne appeared in the music video for Jon Baptiste’s “Uneasy.” The rapper can be shirt playing the guitar while rocking multiple chains. Nothing too out of the ordinary, as Rebirth fans know. The Weeknd recently posted a screenshot from the 2023 music video, though, and highlighted a crucial detail. Weezy is rocking an XO chain in the video, which is in reference to The Weeknd’s label of the same name. The rapper is showing love to the XO crew, even though they’ve been embroiled in a beef with Drake for the better part of a year.

Lil Wayne Was Recently Accused Of Dissing Drake

Some fans have noted that the video dropped last August, but the decision to rock XO was still a bold one a year ago. Lil Wayne knows the situation between Drake and The Weeknd. The Canadian stars have been sniping at each other for the better part of a decade. Drake and The Weeknd even fired shots at each other on the songs “Family Matters” and “All to Myself,” respectively. What makes the situation even stranger is that Lil Wayne himself was accused of dissing Drake on a new Cordae song.

Wayne dropped a stellar guest verse on Cordae’s “Saturday Mornings.” The Young Money boss throws a few digs at a rapper, and calls them “sweet” like a Teddy Graham. Fans immediately seized on these bars and tied them back to Drake. It isn’t hard to see why. Drake’s surname is Graham, and if there’s a rapper who has been called “sweet” more often than the 6 God, we haven’t heard of him. The diss theory went away pretty quickly, but Lil Wayne did not clarify who he was talking about on the song. Is there Young Money beef brewing? Or do you think Weezy is simply showing love to another Canadian?

Charlamagne Tha God Claims Drake’s 100 GB Drop Is Part Of An Album Rollout

Drake is doing the most right now. The rapper revealed a second Instagram account with memes aimed at other rappers. He also dropped a staggering 100 GB’s of new and unreleased material. Fans are still sifting through it all, but Charlamagne Tha God sees the bigger picture. At least, he claims to see it. The radio personality hopped on The Breakfast Club on Wednesday and theorized that Drake’s drop is much more calculated than it seems. He also claimed that the new material is in service of an upcoming album.

Charlamagne tha God felt that Drake failed to play to his strengths by staging a seemingly “organic” drop. Given what the radio host, and the public writ large, knows about Drizzy, everything he does is planned out. “That’s the issue, right. Drake just doing stuff,” Charlamagne Tha God explained. “There’s no direction to it. He’s trying to make it look organic, like it’s nothing, like it’s effortless.” Especially, in Charlamagne’s opinion, when the endgame is so apparent. He feels like Drake is trying to gage public interest in him after the disastrous Kendrick Lamar battle. “This is clearly a rollout,” the host explained. “He’s putting his toe in the water. He wants to see how people feel about him.”

Charlamagne Tha God Thinks Drake Is Gaging Fan Interest

Charlamagne tha God has a point when it comes to Drake “just doing stuff.” The Toronto rapper has been teasing lots of different projects throughout July. So many, in fact, it’s hard to keep track. He has unreleased songs with Conductor Williams in the stash. He has the trio of songs he just dropped with Young Thug, Latto, and 21 Savage. Drizzy also has a joint album with PARTYNEXTDOOR set for release in the fall. Not enough? How about a rumored European tour that riffs on Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss. In his 100 GB drop, the 6 God posted merch emblazoned with the title “No One Likes Us 2024.”

Charlamagne tha God assured Drake that the fans will be receptive. “Drake, you’re fine,” he stated on the air. “Today, you are you.” This is not the first time the radio host had kind words for Drizzy. Despite labeling him the loser of the Kendrick Lamar battle, Charlamagne though Drake did a great job. “This, to me, has been the best rap battle I’ve ever witnessed,” he said back in May. “I mean, the two best of their generation, in their prime. I’ve never seen a rap battle give us this much music.” Time will tell if the rollout prediction proves true.

Drake Reconnecting With PartyNextDoor Is The Perfect Next Move

Drake and PartyNextDoor joint album article image

For the first time in his career, Drake is the underdog. Okay, that’s a bit dramatic, but a comeback of sorts is certainly expected from the Toronto rap star. That, or proof of resilience — evidence that his defeat by Kendrick Lamar won’t be marked as a major turning point in his career. Admittedly, we’ve already seen this resilience from Drake.

His 2018 beef with Pusha T ended with a semi-low-blow knockout punch in the unveiling of Drake’s son Adonis, but in the end, Drake went on to put out his biggest hits and run the summer as he’s done many times this year. But this time, Kendrick Lamar beat Drake at the game he hoped to play, and now the Compton rapper owns the summer thanks to “Not Like Us.” That leaves the fall and winter months up for the taking, and in extremely smart fashion, Drake is gearing up to take them over.

Over the weekend, Drake announced that a joint album with PartyNextDoor will arrive this fall, and it’s the perfect next move for him in his career. “I know you girls are outside,” Drake quipped during a guest set at PND’s Sorry I’m Outside Tour stop in their hometown of Toronto. “When it gets a little chilly, a PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be right there for you.”

Mr. OVO himself has a long track record of big moments in the year’s colder months, though it wasn’t until last year’s For All The Dogs that he actually released an album in October. His breakout mixtape Comeback Season was released in September, as was arguably his best album Nothing Was the Same as well as What A Time To Be Alive and Certified Lover Boy. The Grammy-winning Take Care saw the light of day in November, as did Her Loss, while other highlights like So Far Gone and If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late debuted in February.

In addition to the argument that Drake’s best work arrives outside of the summer months, there’s also one for PartyNextDoor being one of — if not the — best collaborator Drake has consistently worked with in his career. Drake and PND have created over 20 songs together, including collaborations like “Recognize” and “Loyal,” songwriting contributions for each other’s songs, like PND’s “Not Nice” and Drake’s “Come Thru,” and work on other artists’ songs like Rihanna’s “Work” and Popcaan’s “Twist & Turn.”

Drake — music’s versatile superstar — and PND — a modern-day R&B wizard with an unmatched pen — are the perfect combination for a collaborative album. Fans often request joint albums from artists after two or three decent collaborations, all for the finished product to fall flat and underwhelming when it comes to fruition. Drake and PND, have already proven to be a match made in heaven that will only be solidified with this upcoming release.

With all this being said, what makes Drake and PND’s upcoming joint album the perfect move for Drake? Well, for the first time in a long time, Drake can be the cohesive tunnel-visioned artist he hasn’t been in nearly a decade. The beauty of albums like Take Care, Nothing Was the Same, Views, and If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late is they each exist in one individual world. You read their titles and can feel the texture and atmosphere they exist in, whereas with other projects, it’s a bit more scattered and all over the place.

PND thrives at this cohesion, as his most recent album PartyNextDoor 4 proves. He also subscribes to a simpler and more focused approach to his projects, which Drake can also benefit from. Furthermore, Drake and PND’s joint album marks the return of a beloved duo after both reached heights fans previously thought they could only dream of. It makes use of nostalgia, thanks to a decade-long catalog of collaborations, and fulfills a longtime request. For once, Drake is actually listening to us.

Drake will never take a break from music, he’s told us that plenty of times over the last few years. So fans who have begged him to step out of the spotlight will just have to suck it up and deal with the ever-present rap star. There is a compromise here, though. In the aftermath of the infamous rap beef, Drake is seemingly stepping out of the character that played the role of Kendrick’s fuming and disgruntled opponent, and replacing him, is one who wants to prove that good music can erase the bad times, or blur them at least. Drake’s recent release of “100 gigs” of unreleased material included plenty of evidence to show how calculated he is as a musician.

Announcing a joint album with a longtime friend and beloved collaborator is another example of that, and it’s one that could benefit everyone involved, from Drake and PND themselves to waiting fans, as well — if they deliver and meet the expectations laid before them.

Drake Might’ve Fired Back At A$AP Rocky On Recently Released “It’s Up”

Drake seems to have to the last word (at least for now) in one of his many ongoing beefs. According to XXL, some bars on “It’s Up”, one of three songs released to The Boy’s finsta page and 100gigs.org, appear to be for A$AP Rocky. In the short closing verse, it reads something like this, “Knockin’ off the namebrand n****s in your crew / Heard you miss your dogs, now it’s long live who? Idiot“. Breaking it down, Drake targets the lesser-known members of the A$AP Mob and then ties that into the de facto leader’s 2013 project LONG.LIVE.A$AP.

We can certainly see this being a shot because Rocky was suspected to be subliminally firing away at Drizzy on his recent single “HIGHJACK”. “These n****s want my wife bad, the people want my next track/N****s swear they pimpin’, Scottie sippin’, get your wife back“. Obviously, this all ties into Drake’s past infatuation of Rocky’s now wife and mother to his two children, Rihanna. His constant clap backs at the Canadian enemy can certainly be looked at as warranted, though. Drake very possibly dissed the R&B queen last year on For All The Dogs.

Rocky made sure to remind his former collaborator on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Show of Hands” just how bad he messed up. “Call up Pluto, Metro, should’ve put me on the first one / N****s swear they b**** the baddest, I just bagged the worst one / N****s in they feelings over women, what, you hurt or somethin’? / I smash before you birthed, son, Flacko hit it first, son“. With Drake currently the most recent one to diss, we are sure Rocky will do some more chirping when he drops DON’T BE DUMB on August 30.

What are your thoughts on Drake potentially clapping back at A$AP Rocky on his new song “It’s Up”? Is this your favorite track from the “100gigs for your headtop” release? Where do these bars rank amidst the disses between Drizzy and Rocky? How do you feel about him dropping all of this content?
