Kanye West Shares IG Snippet Of Soulful New Single “Preacher Man”

Kanye West needs a comeback. Not a 2010, said a mean comment about Taylor Swift comeback, either. The rapper has fallen off musically in addition to the controversy that he’s generated in recent years. He needs to refocus, and prove to the fans that he still has what it takes to drop meaningful music. Which is why the snippet he dropped on September 23 was so encouraging. Kanye West uploaded a video of him chopping up a previously unreleased beat with the caption “Producer Man.” The beat in question is said to be for West’s upcoming single, “Preacher Man.”

Few producers have displayed more mastery over the soul chop than Kanye West. He pioneered the Chipmunk Soul sound in the early 2000s, and has proven adept at pretty much every style of hip hop that’s ever existed. The beat for “Preacher Man” seemingly brings things back to basics. Kanye West chops up an R&B sample using a keyboard. His face isn’t visible in the video, but the camera is fixed on his hands as he works the keys. The sample source is hard to make out, but the catchiness of the chop is undeniable.

The Instagram teaser is the latest in a string of encouraging signs regarding Kanye West’s new direction. It was alleged that the rapper was pleased with the reception to his recent performance in Korea. He was so inspired, in fact, that he reportedly decided to start work on a new album. He teased “Preacher Man” as a new single a few weeks later. It’s worth noting that Kanye West has yet to drop the third part in his VULTURES trilogy with Ty Dolla Sign. The rollout for the first two have been absolute disasters, from an artistic and PR standpoint.

That said, Ty Dolla Sign recently confirmed that VULTURES 3 is on the way. The R&B singer took to IG on announce that “V3 bouta rip heads off.” One can only hope that more care and time is put into the album than its predecessors. Kanye West hasn’t commented on the status of the upcoming VULTURES 3 or the rumored solo album, but the fact that he’s putting focused effort into “Preacher Man” as a new song is a sign that things are moving in a positive direction. After giving birth to her third child, Cardi B didn’t take long before heading back to the gym and working hard on her post-pregnancy body. As she recently showed off in some Instagram Story posts, this clearly paid off, as fans can’t believe her slim new figure just two weeks out of childbirth. Moreover, the Bronx femcee took to the social media platform on Saturday (September 21) to flaunt her geisha-inspired fit ahead of a friend’s themed party at a New York City nightclub. We have to commend her for not only living up to her own expectations and goals, but for also being very transparent about this as a personal process, not something that anyone else needs to live up to.

However, these new developments in Cardi B’s life aren’t always positive. For example, she recently had to say goodbye to her good friend Star Brim due to her prison sentence on RICO charges, and it was a pretty emotional moment. While some might assume that these circumstances could drive friends apart, it seems like they actually feel stronger in their bond due to their sadness over this situation. We’ll see whether Cardi provides us with updates on Star Brim’s status or if they will instead reconnect further down the line.

Elsewhere, Cardi B is dealing with a lawsuit over her and Offset allegedly failed to pay for their use of a mansion in a music video. Clearly, it’s not that big of a headache, or else she might not want to party out on the town. But the mother of three already clapped back at these claims, so we’ll see if anything actually comes of that case. After all, it could just be an easily rectified misunderstanding.

Meanwhile, this is not all that Cardi B’s done to celebrate her post-pregnancy life. A huge part of this, obviously, is just introducing her daughter to the world, including sharing some wholesome moments with her father Offset. We hope that there’s much more where that came from down the line. And in any case, props to Cardi for achieving what she set out to do with her post-pregnancy body.

This is just one of the many legal troubles he faces these days following a litany of sexual assault and harassment allegations against him over the years. But Kimora isn’t done with the music executive yet, as she randomly tagged him in an Instagram Story. No picture, no caption, nothing: just his tag on a black screen. Moreover, some fans theorize that she’s just trying to get his attention and reach out to communicate, whereas others feel like she could make a claim or allegations about this whole process.

“I have never spoken to a policeman about anything,” Russell Simmons said of people still in contact with him, although it’s more in the context of his supporters than his detractors amid this process. “I have never spoken to a judge, civil or criminal, about anything. From what I can tell, Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, President Trump, all have more credible claims against them than I do. Knock it off. I love you, I just don’t want my friends attacked. I wish you all the best, but just leave my friends alone. Don’t attack them for visiting me.”

As such, some folks will probably criticize Kimora Lee for even reaching out, but this is far too vague to make heads or tails of. Another big controversy around the family that she and Russell Simmons had to address was their daughter’s age gap relationship. “I don’t think she ‘had’ an anything,” Kimora said of Aoki. “I think that was just… She’s a young pretty girl, and you know, I think that we don’t think that the toads that we may kiss [are] gonna be like broadcasted… I personally feel a little bit like she was set up, which is why I try to teach the girls.”

Playboi Carti Seemingly Takes Shots At Lucki In Cryptic Instagram Promo

Playboi Carti is really coming out of his shell. The rapper has spent most of his career dodging interviews and anything resembling a normal rollout. It’s been a long time since fans have even heard him say more than a few words at a time. All that changed on September 18, though. Playboi Carti uploaded a video to Instagram in which he teased his upcoming single and trash-talked another rapper. Carti fails to mention any names, but all signs point to his target being Lucki.

Playboi Carti posts up in a parking lot and seemingly rambles for a minute and a half. He mentions the title of his upcoming collab with The Weeknd, “Timeless,” but he seemed more intent on mocking his ops. “Should’ve signed to the O,” the rapper asserts. “I ain’t worried bout nobody, n****s can talk, say whatever they wanna say about me.” The “O,” is of course, a reference to Carti’s label, Opium Records. Lucki has not only had beef with Carti over the last few weeks, but with another Opium artist, Destroy Lonely, as well. Lucki and Lonely argued over a woman on Instagram Live, which eventually snowballed into a conflict with label boss Carti.

Playboi Carti and Lucki have been engaged in a start-and-stop beef throughout September. The former thought Lucki was sneak-dissing him, which led to Lucki reaching out and clarifying his stance. The two men had a DM exchange, which Playboi Carti eventually shared on IG. “Like I said from the jump, I don’t dislike you,” Lucki explained. The rapper explained that his social media post proclaiming “crosses up” was not intended for Carti, or any of the artists on the Opium label. That said, Lucki did poke fun at the Opium boss by suggesting he was sensitive. “You just insecure because you don’t love Jesus like that,” Lucki concluded.

Playboi Carti may still be annoyed with Lucki, but he has a lot more going on than a petty squabble. The rapper is currently rolling out his first album in four years. “All Red” has been well-received by fans, even though some feel the single sounds a bit too much like Future. The rapper also confirmed that a video for the song is coming soon. It’ll be interesting to see if Carti carries the trash talk over to the album. If so, then Lucki might be catching a few strays on wax.

Taylor Swift does not stop. She’s been one of the hardest-working musicians of the 2020s. Between her new albums and the re-recording of her old albums, it’s any wonder she has time to tour. Things seemed to have cooled down after the less-than-stellar reaction to her last album, though. Swift hasn’t hinted at any new music, or announced re-recording plans. Her longtime producer, however, started cranking the rumor mill on September 18. Jack Antonoff posted a series of photos on Instagram, and one of them featured TDE producer Sounwave.

The black-and-white photo dump sees Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff and Sounwave occupying the same studio space. Sounwave is alone in his photo, but the background make it clear as day that he was at the sessions being documented. The only real clue that fans have regarding the session is a time stamp with the date December 21, 2023 in the corner. This is a crucial piece of information. Taylor Swift dropped her last album, The Tortured Poets Department, in April. It would be easy to dismiss the photo of Sounwave as being from the Poets sessions, but the producer is not listed anywhere on the album’s credits.

The music that Taylor Swift and Sounwave made in December has not yet seen the light of day, which is why Swifties think there’s a new release around the corner. Jack Antonoff is very much a partner in crime when it comes to giving the fans clues. His posts are often teases of what’s to come, so the chances of a Sounwave photo meaning nothing are low. Besides, Sounwave has an established working relationship with both Antonoff and Swift. The TDE producer is part of the supergroup Red Hearse alongside Sam Dew and Antonoff. He’s also produced smash hits on multiple Taylor Swift songs dating back to 2019.

Sounwave is credited as a producer on Taylor Swift’s “Lover Boy.” His biggest contribution to the Swift catalog came in 2022, though. He is all over the pop star’s album Midnights, co-producing singles like “Lavender Haze” and “Karma.” This collaborative dynamic proved to be a two way street in 2024. The TDE veteran produced Kendrick Lamar’s diss song “616 In LA,” and he enlisted none other than Jack Antonoff to help him out. Given that Lamar’s opponent, Drake, had previously referenced Swift on the “Taylor Made Freestyle,” the link up seemed just as intentional as Antonoff’s new Instagram post.

Both became staples of their respective region’s hip hop scene, and both had the name “Daddy” in their name while doing so. Trick Daddy wants to make it clear that is where the similarities stop, though. The iconic Florida emcee took to social media on September 18 to set the record straight. He made it clear that he did not have a close relationship with Diddy, and went as far as threaten the next person who asks about the arrested mogul.

Trick Daddy must have been getting bombarded with questions about Diddy. He felt the need to get on Instagram Live two days after the mogul was arrested. The rapper did not mince words, either. “The next person that asks me if I been to one of them parties, I’mma slap the sh*t out you,” he stated. “They don’t like my kind at them parties.” He then broadened the conversation to discuss who have and haven’t been to Diddy’s so-called “Freak Offs.” Trick Daddy then went in an unexpected direction and addressed those who have been. He urged the guilty parties not to end their lives, but to face up to the consequences of their actions.

Donald Trump really tested the limits of his supporters’ patience during the Presidential Debate. The former President claimed that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio are eating cats and dogs. This is a statement that didn’t come with any evidence. It has subsequently been disproven, and has already been identified as a low point in Trump’s campaign. Kodak Black has been a vocal Trump supporter for years, but even he was confused by what he heard. Especially given the rapper’s Haitian heritage.

Kodak Black addressed Trump’s comments during a concert. “That sh*t crazy,” he noted. “That sh*t true? Man, I ain’t gonna lie, homie, I’m a muthaf**king Trump supporter.” The more the rapper spoke on the matter, though, the more he seemed conflicted. Kodak Black has been singing the praises of Donald Trump for several years. In 2023, the rapper explained why he found Trump appealing during an episode of Drink Champs. “He a Gemini like me,” Kodak explained. “His birthday two days after my sh*t. And that boy, like, he be vibin’ out here too.” Kodak Black also claimed that Donald Trump was the best thing for the United States in a 2022 tweet. “We need Trump in office forever, man,” he asserted. “Just like how them Chinese and Russian and Korean motherf*kers have their president. The rapper and singer have been sentenced to over a decade in prison. Casanova for racketeering and narcotics charges, Tory Lanez for first degree assault with a firearm. Casanova recently shed light on his situation via social media, and he revealed that there is actually another link between him and Lanez.

Apparently, Tory Lanez helped Casanova out financially during his federal case. The latter claimed that Lanez gave him a sizable chunk of money during his trial, since he was unable to go out and make any money of his own. Kanye West is at all-time low when it comes to musical output. VULTURES 1 and VULTURES 2 are the consensus picks for worst albums of his career. The rapper has clearly lost the plot with regards to his musical focus, resulting in albums that were pieced together seemingly in real time. That said, West has seemingly regained focus in recent months. Since VULTURES 2, the rapper has played a well-received show in Korea. He also performed in China. And now he’s hinting at the release of a brand new single called “Preacher Man.”

Kanye West performed “Preacher Man” during the Korean show, and he reposted an image from the show on his Instagram. He also dropped the title of the song in the caption, suggesting that fans will get a chance to hear a CDQ version of the song in the near future. That’s the best case scenario, at least. Ye has become a model of inconsistency when it comes to sticking to a plan. That said, “Preacher Man” is a promising sound for a new album. The production is wistful and stripped down. A single vocal sample is the basis of the whole instrumental.

Then there’s the rapping. Kanye West has not had the strongest pen game over the last decade, despite harnessing the talents of multiple songwriters. Conversely, West is rapping clearly and coherently on “Preacher Man.” It’s a surprise to hear, albeit a nice one.

Kanye West is rumored to be working on a new solo album. While the jury is still out on VULTURES 3, the Channel Candy CEO claimed that the rapper was pleased with the reception to his Korean concert. West is reportedly channeling this newfound inspiration into a fresh body of work. We can only hope it comes together more smoothly and seamlessly than we we’ve gotten from the rapper since, well, 2018. On the other hand, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign just debuted a “Thousand Miles” remix that has fans baffled.
