Drake’s New Face Tattoo In Honor Of His Mother Earns Quite The Divided Reaction From Fans

Just days after roasting his dad Dennis for getting a pretty goofy-looking tattoo of himself, Drake has gotten some new ink of his own. Drake’s collection of tattoos ranges from sentimental to celebratory to outright goofy, as well, but his latest addition is way more sentimental than it is subtle. Everybody knows how much Drake loves his mom; he’s done several songs about her already, including “Sandra’s Rose” from his 2018 album Scorpion. His new tattoo takes inspiration from his mom’s name as well, inking her initials “S.G.” (for Sandra Gale) just below his left eye.

Of course, as with all things involving Drake, fans had thoughts. A Twitter search of “Drake tattoo” yields a trove of opinions ranging from exasperation (“Drake pissing me off with these tattoos,” wrote one annoyed fan) to admiration. “Drake getting braids and a face tattoo in his 30’s, let’s you know anything is possible,” joked another fan. “Go ahead and tell your manager to f*ck off the next time he asks you to mop the floor. Yolo.”

Some didn’t even believe that the image Drake posted to Instagram was even real. “drake did not get a face tattoo,” wrote one disbeliever. “it’s no way a n**** this calculated didn’t consider those consequences. i don’t believe you.” And while it’s entirely possible Drake is just here for the jokes and didn’t actually get his mom’s initials inked on his face (FWIW, it looks very much like it’s real), it’s probably funnier if he did, right? Like, if you just listed “the most Drake things Drake could possibly do,” you’re hitting that option somewhere in the top 40. Remember, Drake is the type of guy to do a lot of things no one expects but that would be pretty hilarious to see him actually do in real life.

(For You)r Consideration: The Hottest TikTok Trends In Music This Week

(For You)r Consideration is a weekly column breaking down the rappers and singers doing it RIGHT on TikTok and the viral trends and top songs taking over your FYP.

Return of the “Racks”

Over ten years ago, the Sonny Digital-produced “Racks” by YC introduced the mainstream to an up-and-coming rapper named Future and gave us the beat behind one of Lil Kim’s and Lil Wayne’s most iconic freestyles. Today, the song is the soundtrack to one of TikTok’s burgeoning trends where creators play with the age-old cliché, “If I had a dollar for every time…” and tell their For You Page about some very frequent, often awkward occurrences. Who would’ve thought the beat Sonny Digital sold to YC and his team for just $300 would play the background to over thirty thousand videos?

Get To That Money

If you’re not familiar with Arkansas’ viral king of choreography and rapper ZaeHD, you may have seen his videos cosplaying as an employee at a few popular restaurants and brands. Set to his single “GTTM” and inspired by the track’s music video, ZaeHD steps into work and does exactly what the lyrics say…”let’s get to that money.” From goofing off at the Apple Store to turning up with employees at Atlanta’s famous Slutty Vegan and somehow finding his way into a USPS uniform, the trend is pure comedy. And with just under ten thousand videos using the sound, it’s ripe for replication.

Steve Lacy’s Fans Aren’t Happy

Shortly after releasing his 2nd studio album Gemini Rights, guitarist-turned solo artist Steve Lacy announced his “Give You The World” tour, and fans went crazy. The $35 tickets sold out almost immediately, and fans have taken to TikTok using his song “Static” as background to their complaints. Lacy’s most devout followers have voiced their grievances with him and Ticketmaster about the size of the venues he’s set to play at and the over 300% markup on resale tickets. Lacy has yet to respond to complaints from friends but did use the sound on TikTok to show off a fresh set of braids. Watch below for some of our favorite Steve Lacy-hating videos.

MIA Loves Herself On Her Empowering New Single ‘Popular’

Earlier this year, MIA announced her sixth studio album Mata to follow up 2016’s AIM. She unveiled the first single “The One” and now she’s back with the new track “Popular,” an infectious, self-empowering anthem with a jangly rhythm. It builds up the hype for a catchy LP, though it still has no confirmed release date. Mata will mark the first MIA album released via her new partnership with Island Records, following a long-standing history with Interscope and XL Recordings.

MIA is known for her ability to provoke and stir up public conversation. In 2018, the performer got into trouble when the NFL sued MIA over the obscene gesture she flashed during her 2012 Super Bowl performance with Madonna. “If you’re talking about racism and sexism, that moment in my life showed the cracks in everyone I knew,” she said. “I was at Roc Nation at the time and Jay-Z was managing me. The lawsuit was so ridiculous, it proposed that they would keep one hundred percent of my earnings for the rest of my life if I ever earned more than $2 million dollars. Jay-Z was, like, ‘You should sign that sh*t’ and I was, like, ‘No.’”

Megan Thee Stallion Was A Delight Co-Hosting ‘The Tonight Show’ Alongside Jimmy Fallon

It is currently Megan Thee Stallion season: She’s just hours removed from releasing her new album Traumazine and shortly before that, she took over The Tonight Show by co-hosting alongside Jimmy Fallon.

She first popped up mid-way through the monologue and had a bunch of fun from the get-go, breaking even more than the famously break-heavy Fallon during some monologue jokes. Later on, she joined Fallon in writing some thank you notes, closing with, “Thank you Earth, for taking ‘hot girl summer’ way too literally.”

They also did some-hip-hop mad libs, starting by coming up with some words based on random prompts, then inserting them into hip-hop songs. Naturally, they had Meg do “Savage,” which ended up being about beans and farting.

Elsewhere in the show, she got interviewed by Fallon and spoke some about Traumazine, saying she’s looking to take control of her own narrative with the personal album. Her dog 4oe also had a few show-stealing moments. Megan and Fallon also teamed up to interview Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer, during which Meg declared her character Nancy is a “hot girl” and had fun interrogating her about Nancy’s romantic history.

Jon Batiste Leaves ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ After Seven Years As Bandleader

On September 8, 2015, the debut episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert aired. Aside from Colbert himself, a major part of the show’s identity was Jon Batiste and his Stay Human house band. Since early June this year, Batiste has actually been away from the show on a break, so band member Louis Cato has been filling in as leader. Now, that change has been made permanent: On last night’s Late Show, Colbert announced that Batiste is leaving the program after just shy of seven years.

Colbert shared the news last night, saying, “Sharp-eyed viewers may have noticed that Jon hasn’t been here this summer. Well, I have an update: Jon has decided to leave the show.” That got an “aww” from the audience and Colbert continued, “I know, I feel the same way, but it’s for all the best reasons, including to continue sharing his art with the world.”

He added, “We have been so lucky to have a front-row seat to Jon’s incredible talent for the past seven years, and will we miss him here? [Batiste voice] ‘Yeeaah! Yeeaah!’ But we’re happy for you, Jon, and I can’t wait to have you back on as a guest with your next hit record. I love you.”

Colbert went on to reveal that Cato is taking over as bandleader and that the house band is now called The Late Show Band.

Batiste has yet to offer a statement about leaving the show. He’s definitely in the midst of a career high-point, though: Earlier this year, he got five Grammy wins (including Album Of The Year for We Are) off a whopping 11 nominations, and he’ll soon be making his acting debut in a remake of The Color Purple.

Beyoncé Joins Ronald Isley On ‘Make Me Say It Again, Girl,’ A Modern Rework Of An Isley Brothers Classic

Beyoncé’s Renaissance came after a long break between projects, as it was her first solo album since 2016’s Lemonade (although she did drop The Lion King: The Gift in 2019 and her and Jay-Z’s Everything Is Love the year before). Now that she’s back in the swing of things, though, the music isn’t stopping. Along with Renaissance, Beyoncé shared a surprise “Break My Soul” remix EP followed by a standalone “Queens Remix” version of the song with Madonna.

Today, she returns with even more new material: Beyoncé joined Ronald Isley for a new duet rendition of “Make Me Say It Again Girl, Pts. 1 & 2,” originally from the 1975 Isley Brothers album The Heat Is On. The new version is titled “Make Me Say It Again, Girl” and will appear on a new Isley Brothers album that’s set to drop later this year.

On the Renaissance front, the era has been going swimmingly for Beyoncé. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, while “Break My Soul” rose to the top of the Hot 100 following the album’s release. It hasn’t been stumble-free, though, as she’s changed the album due to issues with samples and lyrics.

Listeners React To The Sensual Nature Of Megan Thee Stallion’s New Song ‘Red Wine’ From ‘Traumazine’

Megan Thee Stallion is many things. Talented, charismatic, fun-loving, and confident. One thing she is not is shy about her sex appeal and enjoyment of coitus. Amidst the excitement of her new album Traumazine dropping, listeners cannot help but question who or what inspired her behavior on “Red Wine.”

Like many songs from the 27-year-old, “Red Wine” vividly discusses body parts and how she wants to use them. The moans throughout the chorus add a whole other layer of sexiness to the record produced by Bankroll Got it, Shawn “Source” Jarrett, Whethan, and Dwilly. Following along with Meg’s energy, listeners are either feeling sexy themselves, desirous of sex or marveling at the blatant vulgarity the Houston Hottie expresses.

“Red Wine” is one of the 18 tracks off of Megan Thee Stallion’s new album Traumazine. The album, led by the singles “Plan B,” “Sweetest Pie” featuring Dua Lipa, and “Pressurelicious” featuring Future also includes guest appearances from Latto, Lucky Daye, Rico Nasty, Jhene Aiko, and more. Traumazine comes a little under two years after her debut album Good News, though she has kept listeners well fed in the interim, especially with the 2021 project Something For Thee Hotties.

Ari Lennox Drops Her New Song, ‘Hoodie’ And Announces Her Sophomore Album, ‘Age/Sex/Location’

It appears the wait for Ari Lennox‘s much-anticipated sophomore album is almost over. Tonight, she has dropped a new single called “Hoodie.”

On the sultry new track, Lennox’s vocals reach new highs, as she asks to wear her man’s hoodie.

“Tangled up on your waist / Dreaming of how you taste / Underneath that North Face,” she sings over a seductive drum beat.

In the accompanying video, Lennox is seen enjoying a party with friends, grinding up on a man in a literal hoodie factory, and arriving at a grocery story, where she receives an unpleasant surprise.

This is the first we’ve heard from Lennox in a while, as she’s recently decided to stop doing interviews. She hasn’t posted much on social media, however, yesterday, she announced that she has completed her album.

Earlier this year, she shared a picture of herself by a whiteboard, with what appeared to be a list of 80 tracks she was considering for the album.

We now know the album is titled Age/Sex/Location, as she revealed tonight on her social media handles upon “Hoodie’s” release. The album is set to drop early next month.

The Game Crowns Himself As ‘The Black Slim Shady’ And Disses Eminem For Ten Minutes

The Game is a man of many words. Over the years the rapper has become known for embellished stories, controversial statements, and lengthy albums. On his new album Drillmatic Heart Vs. Mind, the West Coast rapper stays true to his reputation with a 10-minute diss track aimed at Eminem titled “The Black Slim Shady” just a day after trolling the rapper by commenting on his daughter’s bikini pictures.

Right from the beginning, Game takes aim at his primary target by mimicking the “Lose Yourself” artist’s rap voice. Throughout the track, he includes different skits, one of which has what sounds like an Uber driver telling the 1992 artist that he is not a fan of Eminem’s new music. The disses don’t stop at Marshall Mathers either, as the “Hate It Or Love It” rapper also has words for 50 Cent and Dr. Dre. Aside from the vitriol, he expresses his attraction toward Saweetie and Lizzo in this loaded track.

“The Black Slim Shady” is one of 30 tracks on The Game’s new album Drillmatic Heart Vs. Mind, which was delayed multiple times this summer. Finally here, the album also features Kanye West, Roddy Ricch, the late Nipsey Hussle, French Montana, 2 Chainz, and more. This marks The Game’s first LP since 2019’s Born 2 Rap.

Tyga, Jhene Aiko, and Pop Smoke Enjoy Summer Love On The Vibrant New Record ‘Sunshine’

There’s nothing like a summertime record that fuses that sun’s rays with a classic sample. Tyga, Jhene Aiko and the late Pop Smoke link up for “Sunshine,” which samples Lil’ Flip and Lea’s record of the same name. Aiko handles the hook while Tyga and Pop bring the affectionate raps in their own special way. They do the sample justice with their modern take on a classic record.

“Sunshine” follows a slew of Tyga singles in 2022, namely “Freaky Deaky” with Doja Cat, “Lifetime,” “Sheikh Talk,” and “Run” alongside YG, 21 Savage, and BIA. Tyga also released “Ay Caramba” this year and caught flack from the Mexican-American community for what they deemed racist depictions of their culture. The “Rack City” rapper has since apologized and clarified he did mean any harm.

This is the first time these three have collaborated as a trio, though Tyga and Pop Smoke previously worked on “West Coast Sh*t” from Pop Smoke’s 2020 album Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon. The Brooklyn drill rapper followed up the previous year with Faith, meanwhile, Aiko has been on a hiatus of sorts since her Grammy-nominated 2020 album Chilombo. In the interim, she uploaded her classic mixtape Sailing Soul(s) to DSPs in March of 2021.
