Brent Faiyaz & Mariah The Scientist Take Over Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update

It’s starting to get real chilly… well, in certain parts of the world, anyway, but it helps that our R&B Season playlist updates are always hot no matter the weather. Moreover, we rounded up the best of the best soulful cuts to drop this week, and we have some great albums and singles to go over. First up is Mariah The Scientist, who dropped her ten-track effort To Be Eaten Alive, a brief but nonetheless lush experience. Specifically, the track “Out of Luck” combines classic R&B melodies with a peppy and vibrant instrumental that is as groovy as it is sensual. With other appearances from her boo Young Thug, 21 S*vage, and Vory, it’s a well-rounded and above all tender offering.

However, speaking of features, there’s one placement on our R&B Season playlist update this week that wipes that category clean. In contrast to this last highlight, Brent Faiyaz just dropped the feature-heavy album Larger Than Life, and it’s… well, larger than life. Tracks like “Outside All Night,” with its dusty strings, trap-inspired beat, and vocal harmonies, provide some really creative interpretations within the genre. It helps, too, that A$AP Rocky and N3WYRKLA come through with some energetic and gorgeous guest contributions, respectively.

HNHH R&B Season Playlist: Stream

Furthermore, this week also graced our R&B Season playlist with some throwback vibes for the 2000s crowd. If you miss classic soul and hip-hop fusions that are glamorous, poppy, and confident, Mary J. Blige and Vado fulfilled your wishes with the single “Still Believe In Love.” On the flip side, if you connect more strongly with the atmospheric and intimate R&B of contemporary fame, Majid Jordan’s new song “Violet” might be right up your alley. We say “might” because it’s a seven-minute slow burn, but its wavy guitar lines, synths, and subtle singing is still potent enough to captivate.

Meanwhile, on the underrated releases end of things, we also have Chxrry22’s new project Siren, on which the woozy “Favorite Girl” with Offset is a clear standout. In addition, there’s LOONY’s new single “Counting Thunder,” whose instrumentation is a more rock and indie-inspired take on rhythm and blues songwriting. Let us know what your favorite track from this R&B Season playlist update is- and which ones we missed this week- down in the comments. Check out the playlist above and come back to HNHH for more great music releases each week.

Lizzo Honors Tina Turner With Halloween Costume

Lizzo chose to go old school with her Halloween costume, replicating an iconic costume from pop iconic Tina Turner. The black, bejeweled dress is reminiscent of Turner’s looks from the mid-70s. “Honoring Tina Turner❤️‍🔥,” Lizzo wrote on Instagram while showing off the costume in a very Turner-esque pose. Fans loved the costume, despite Lizzo’s recent controversies.

Turner passed away in May, at the age of 83. According to a representative of the artist. Turner died peacefully at home in Switzerland. Lizzo’s costume is synonymous with the 1970s and 80s, the era that Turner became a true household name. During the 1980s, Turner released two top-five albums and four top-five singles. Turner won eight Grammys during her lifetime and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice. First, she was inducted alongside her ex-husband Ike in 1991. Then she was inducted as a solo artist in 2021.

Chloe Bailey Stuns As Catwoman For Halloween

However, Lizzo wasn’t the only person wowing their audience with their Halloween costume. Chloe Bailey stole hearts like a master thief as she dropped her Catwoman look for Halloween. A tight leather corset (with some bat-like embellishments) and thigh-high leather boots showed off Bailey’s bountiful curves and embraced everything we love about Selina Kyle. In the comments of Bailey’s Instagram post showing off the outfit, many people likened her to the somewhat infamous portrayal of the character by Halle Berry in 2004’s Catwoman. However, the white stitching on Bailey’s legs is also very reminiscent of Michelle Pfeiffer’s take on the character in the 90s.

However, as much as the costume has people dying to see Bailey adopt the feline mantle on screen, that might remain a dream for now. Zoe Kravitz currently holds the title of Catwoman, having brought the role to life in The Batman. Furthermore, Kravtiz is expected to reprise the role in the sequel that is in the works by director Matt Reeves. Despite this, maybe the internet can get its wish with Bailey taking on the role in James Gunn’s new DC universe.

Mike Jones Responds To NLE Choppa’s Call-Out Over Sample Issues

Samples are pretty much everything in hip-hop: its lifeblood and point of origin, an indelibly useful creative tool, and a commercial headache. Moreover, we always hear about clearance disputes, royalty splits, and so much more when one artist wants to use another’s song. While that can sometimes be more attributed to the labels or management that these MCs work with, sometimes the beef can get in between the artists themselves. That’s what happened recently with NLE Choppa and Mike Jones, as the former called the latter out for copyrighting a sample that he already cleared: his song “Still Tippin’,” which became the instrumental for Choppa’s “CMON” freestyle. Now, Jones clapped back.

“Don’t care about getting respect,” Mike Jones responded to NLE Choppa’s complaints. “Especially if the respect wasn’t shown 4 months ago prior to releasing the music without getting the business clear! I told y’all #Welcome2TheMusicBusiness #StayTuned For Receipts & I wish a N***A Would!!!!” In fact, if you look up the Memphis MC’s freestyle, it’s no longer available due to this copyright claim. This means that this isn’t a situation in development or discussion in the legal world; it just happened quickly.

Furthermore, this is what NLE Choppa had to say to Mike Jones when this copyright claim came through. “Ion know if it’s Mike jones or his team but on everything y’all dead wrong for trying to copyright a song I cleared,” he expressed on Twitter. “That’s some hating s**t especially for a young n***a like me that’s just tryna please his fans. Ion feel that I lost d*mb respect but it’s cool fasho!” What’s funny is that this isn’t the first time that Jones in particular shut down remixes to his songs much to the public dismay of the sampling artist, as this happened to rapper BiC Fizzle with the exact same song earlier this year.

Meanwhile, what do you think of this whole debacle? Is Choppa right to be so indignant or is it time for people to pump the brakes on reckless or undue sampling? However you may feel, let us known the comments section down below. Also, stay up to date on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Mike Jones and NLE Choppa.

We’re about to embark on the final two months of 2023. All year long, the women of hip-hop have been seriously holding it down. Reality star Stunna Girl is among those who’ve been contributing to the genre’s growth, kicking things off with “Pretty Face Shotta” back in May and only getting hotter from there. “Sweat,” Like Dat,” “Pretty Privilege,” and “Real Rap” are among solo efforts she’s delivered throughout the spring and fall so far. This New Music Friday (October 27), the 25-year-old shared a new single and visual, “Courtesy Of A Rich Ni**a,” that proves just how spoiled she is by her other half. “This song was inspired by my husband and how he spoils me,” Stunna told Lyrical Lemonade. “But also myself and how I’ma boss on my own. Erica Banks Flexes New Butterfly Neck Tattoo

Erica Banks recently took to social media to show off some new ink. The 25-year-old Texas native posed for a series of selfies, flexing a black butterfly tattoo which now takes up a majority of her neck. According to her, it’s a tattoo that she’s been eyeing for some time, and she seems thrilled now that she’s finally got it. “I always wanted a neck tatt,” she wrote excitedly. “So happy!”

Fans are sounding off in the performer’s comments section, praising the eye-catching new piece. This is far from Banks’ first tattoo, however. She has a variety of tattoos on her arms, the side of her neck, her hands, and more. She even has another butterfly tattoo where her left shoulder meets her chest, which is surrounded by flowers. Ahead of the reveal, Banks took to Twitter to ask followers about their own experiences with neck tattoos, getting a gauge of where she’d be on the pain scale. “Anybody got a neck tatt? How bad did it hurt?” she wondered. Though most who weighed in let her know that the tattoo would probably hurt, it doesn’t look like it deterred her.

Erica Banks’ New Ink

While the majority of commenters are loving the new piece she’s added to her collection, there are a few critics making their voices heard. Luckily, it appears as though Banks is unbothered by the hate. She seemingly clapped back with a recent Tweet, pointing the finger right back at trolls. “A lot of y’all hate y’all life & it shows on here everyday,” she wrote alongside a laughing emoji.

Aside from her new tattoo, Banks also appears to be gearing up to drop a treat for fans in honor of the holiday season. “Y’all want a Christmas Deluxe EP?” she recently asked followers last week. “Imma basically re-drop my Christmas project, with 2 new songs.” Are you a fan of Erica Banks’ new butterfly neck tattoo? Jaidyn Alexis Stakes On Her Claim On Blueface Despite New Infidelity Rumors

Jaidyn Alexis has staked her claim on Blueface, calling the rapper “her d-ck” despite new rumors about him. She made the bold claim in a video posted to social media, where she was vibing with Blue, and the rapper was claiming that he “wasn’t going nowhere”. However, several people have claimed that Blue has in fact been going places. First, there is Chrisean Rock, who claims that she and Blue were hooking up mere days before he proposed to Alexis.

Furthermore, a video emerged earlier this week showing Blueface snuggling up to an unknown woman. The video just showed the pair cuddling, but knowing Blue’s history, there’s every chance that things went further than that. However, Alexis’ reaction shows that she’s not fazed by the allegations and rumors. It remains to be seen, though, if anything more amounts from the claims against Blue.
