Usher Has One Piece Of Advice For Kendrick Lamar And His Super Bowl Halftime Show

Usher discussed the NFL’s announcement that Kendrick Lamar will be performing at Super Bowl LIX duirng an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark on Friday. In doing so, he shared some advice for Lamar, having just headlined the event himself, earlier this year.

“Everybody has this fifteen minutes of fame idea, but it’s really your fifteen minutes of fame. You have to play hits. You’ve got to get right to it,” he said. From there, Kelly Ripa suggested that Usher attempt to help Drake and Lamar end their beef. “I want no part of that. I’m sorry,” Usher said. “Let’s just say, it’s been a great experience to say that I could play the Super Bowl. I understand how much pressure comes with it and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. But I would wish it on you if you’ve had the career.”

During Usher’s Super Bowl performance, he brought out several stars including Alicia Keys, will.i.am, Lil Jon, Ludacris, and H.E.R. Lamar’s plans for his show are unclear, but at his highly popular The Pop Out event in Los Angeles, he welcomed several West Coast icons to the stage. He also performed his Drake diss track “Not Like Us” several times over for a viral conclusion to the concert.

Doechii’s Superstar Potential Grows With Katy Perry Single “I’M HIS, HE’S MINE”

Doechii has been on the come up for over the last year or so. Even though the TDE roster is stacked, she’s managed to remain as one of their most intriguing prospects and this year, she’s really breaking through. Just a couple of weeks ago, she dropped off her excellent mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal. While it’s got some flaws, it showcases that she’s got the stuff to be a true superstar. She possesses a lot of charisma, creativity, solid lyricism, as well as crossover appeal thanks to her ability to sing as well. The latter quality is what’s allowing Doechii to get on the radar of modern pop hitmaker Katy Perry.

Their new collab, “I’M HIS, HE’S MINE”, was previewed at the MTV VMAs this past Wednesday with both of them being able to perform it. If this isn’t another step into becoming one of the biggest rappers in the game, we aren’t sure what is. Overall, the song may annoy you on its first couple of listens and could come across as a generic pop rap radio hit. But it is growing on us a little bit, but that’s mostly thanks to Doechii adding some extra oomph to the single. As for Perry, this represents her third offering from her upcoming seventh album, 143, which is due September 20. Apparently, she’s going to be working with more MCs, including 21 Savage and JID, which isn’t too surprising given how many of them she’s worked with in the past.

On the Hot Girl Summer Tour, Megan Thee Stallion showed the world she can rock arenas stage around the country. Now, the “Mamushi” rapper’s music will continue to shake up many of the venues long after she left.

Yesterday (September 13), the WWE revealed that one of Megan Thee Stallion’s new tracks will serve as its official theme song. Over on X (formerly Twitter), the company announced that Megan Thee Stallion’s latest single “Neva Play” featuring RM (of BTS) will serve as WWE Smackdown’s new intro song.

“Friday Night #SmackDown’s new intro,” read the post. “Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Neva Play’ featuring RM of BTS.”

WWE SmackDown’s season premiere on the USA Network yesterday seems to be a taste of what crossover they have lined up. In the past, several musicians have made a cameo either in the WWE ring (hi, Bad Bunny and Snoop Dogg) or a promotional campaign latest being Meek Mill.

So, Megan Thee Stallion super fans, the Hotties, are on high alert to see what’s next. Megan’s athletic talents extend far beyond her impressive twerking skills as her multiple workout video shared online revealed. However, only time will tell if this leads to anything further. But given Megan Thee Stallion eye for lucrative marketing opportunities it probably already is in the works.

Young Thug boldly thirsted over Mariah The Scientist in his latest Instagram post as caught by The Shade Room. “Send me a hard copy of this picture,” he wrote in the caption of a photo of her. “I’m tryna do sum right fast.” Mariah had shared the behind-the-scenes pictures of herself in a bikini from New York Fashion Week on her own page as well.

When The Shade Room reshared it on Instagram, users made plenty of jokes in the comments section. “Bro tryna beat it in the cell,” one fan remarked. Others brought up a woman named Daisy recently making headlines for sharing her support for Thug on social media. One fan wrote: “Sorry to the other young lady that attempted to advance herself but this is his number one ma’am.”

The two have been linked since prior to Thug’s arrest as part of the YSL RICO trial. During an interview back in 2023, Mariah affirmed that nothing can stop her from supporting Thug. “I feel like, and this is in all honesty, there is nobody on planet Earth that can get between me and supporting my man,” she stated at the time. “I’m sorry, it’s just not gonna happen. They have a lot to say, but I’m sorry to hear that you don’t understand what I got going on. Maybe one day you will, but the odds are you won’t. I don’t feel the need to explain and express to somebody the love I have for somebody else… It’s not gonna change what I have going on, what people have to say.”

Kendrick Lamar Allegedly Cost Compton Businesses Thousands Of Dollars With His Viral “Not Like Us” Video

Kendrick Lamar is coming under fire from small business owners in his hometown of Compton, after the filming of his music video for “Not Like Us” interrupted their day on June 22. In a new piece for The Los Angeles Times, Corina Pleasant, who runs the soul food restaurant, Alma’s Place, with her mother Alma, revealed that they were given no notice that the area would be overrun for the shoot. In turn, they lost thousands of dollars by staying open, despite being unable to operate.

“It was really disheartening to have the electricity on and gas. I’m just running everything and making no money. I literally was there for nothing, because the little money that I did make, I had to pay my staff with that,” she told the outlet. She also complained that the city didn’t provide her or any other business with enough notice to shut down ahead of time. She estimates her losses amount to between $1,800 to $2,200.

Pleasant went on to explain that she doesn’t have an issue with Lamar filming the video in general, but with the way it was handled. “One day does matter. It does matter when you’re there, and you’re wasting your time. It does matter when your Edison bill is $1,000. It does matter when two weeks’ payroll for three people is nearly $3,000. It does matter when gas is $800. You’re there, all these things are running, and you have nothing to show for it,” she further explained.

Kendrick Lamar Returns To Compton For “Not Like Us”

A spokesperson for the City of Compton addressed the incident in a statement to The Los Angeles Times. They promised the city would identify “opportunities for more efficient film permit communication to our community” going forward. They added: “Businesses in Compton, especially small businesses, are the backbone of our city. We want to continue to keep an open line of communication and do everything we can to support economic growth.” Lamar, however, has not commented on the situation. King Harris has revealed that the picture of himself with a black eye, which he uploaded on Instagram while claiming to have been in a fight, was fake. In his latest post on the platform, he explained that it was for a new video and he was pranking his followers.

In a caption laced with laughing emojis, Harris wrote: “Man It’s be a REAL PURGE N ATL if yall seen me like dat f*ck seeing it on instagram it was gon be fox 5. It was a bet from my cast I was on set. Ik dat world was SO READY TO SEE ME WIT A BLACK EYE. SIKE NEW SONG OUT LOCKED IN @lilduval they gon be mad. Lauren London says she’s still dealing with the death of her late partner, Nipsey Hussle, who was shot and killed outside of his store, Marathon Clothing, in 2019. She reflected on his tragic passing during an interview with Radhi Devlukia on the A Really Good Cry podcast, earlier this week.

“I still feel like a mess, that’s the thing,” she admitted, as caught by Billboard, “I guess I have to ask my friends how far I’ve come because I still genuinely feel like I have not arrived anywhere… I feel like I’m really heavy a lot, but again, I have to counter that to just, like, the grace of God, because if it was up to me, I would be sliding in here on my stomach, but I also don’t want to take away from the work that I’ve done from then until now. So, I don’t wanna do that, ’cause I’m good at doing that.” She added that her kids and her community have been an immense help. “God just placed people in my life that can kinda just usher me in and teach me and guide me. I always say the prayer of strangers held me up,” she said.

Speaking about their grieving process with Devlukia, London explained that she’s been encouraging the family to express their emotions. “It’s so different with both of them, because one’s 14, the other one’s 7, so you know. I’m always, like, a container for whatever emotion they have,” she said on the show, “I’m just like, ‘It’s OK to feel all these things, you know? I’m holding it for you, I feel you, I understand, I hear you.’ But also, playing his music, I’m always telling them to journal as well, like, write him a letter, tell him how you feel.”

He didn’t say much of anything, maintaining a neutral expression and flashing his signature “L” with his hand. Earlier this week, Dawn Richard sued him for alleged sexual and emotional abuse. She accuses him of belittling her, along with several other female Making The Band contestants. Richard also claims to have witnessed Diddy’s alleged abuse of Cassie on several occasions. His attorney has since released a statement in response to the allegations, denying any and all wrongdoing on his behalf.

“Mr. Combs is shocked and disappointed by this lawsuit.
