Drake’s New Deal With Universal Music Group Called “LeBron-Sized,” Estimated to Be $400M

Nearly $400 million is the price tag of doing business with Drake in 2022. According to Variety, Sir Lucian Grainge revealed an expansive, multi-faceted deal with the Certified Lover Boy that covers recordings, publishing, merchandise, and visual media projects.

Variety hit a few industry insiders to see how much that deal could be. While one referenced “LeBron-sized,” possibly alluding to one of his league-leading contracts or his massive business deals with Nike or more, Drake’s lyrics stand out. “Three-sixty upfront, it all comes full circle,” he spits on “Lemon Pepper Freestyle.”

Additional sources cite the deal could be north of $400mil. A full number was not disclosed.

Late last month, UMG announced a new deal with The Weeknd. The deal cements The Weeknd’s partnership with UMG’s Republic Records, his label home and partner since 2012, and will continue to be his label partner for future music releases. The Weeknd & XO will continue to work closely with Bravado, UMG’s top brand management and merchandise organization, to build and develop global merchandising, branding, eCommerce, and retail licensing options for future projects and releases. In addition, the new deal covers future audiovisual initiatives with Republic Records and UMG. A number for The Weeknd’s deal was not disclosed.

Kim Kardashian gave an iconic look for the 2022 Met Gala, donning Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress as she strolled the red carpet with her bae, Pete Davidson. Leading up to the big event, the dress was displayed at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum in Orlando, Florida.

“Well, this is Marilyn Monroe’s dress and it is 60 years old and she wore this when she sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to President John F. Kennedy in 1962,” Kardashian confirmed to La La on the red carpet. “I had this idea to try it on and then they came with armed guards and gloves.”

According to PEOPLE, the dress was a bit too small and required an intense diet from Kim Kardashian to wear. “I tried it on, and it didn’t fit me. I said, ‘Give me three weeks.’ I had to lose 16 pounds down today,” Kardashian said.

Kardashian stated the challenge was like getting ready for a movie, and she abandoned carbs and sugars for three weeks. After the conclusion, Kardashian joked at a pizza and donut party at the hotel after the event’s conclusion.

The dress originally cost $12,000 and was created around Monroe, who was sewn into it as it was made. After Kardashian walked the red carpet, she changed into a replica dress for the actual event.

“I’m excited for this next chapter in my life, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, and for since I could remember I was sad,” Post Malone said. “Time to take care of my body and my family and friends, and spread as much love as we can every day.”

Over the weekend, Malone and his bae celebrated with a private party in California this past weekend.

Post Malone is also gearing up to release his new album twelve carat toothache, which he has already previewed music from.

Mustard and his wife, Chanel Thierry, are headed for a divorce. After two years of marriage, the two have decided to split.

Complex notes Mustard files for divorce Monday in Los Angeles, claiming irreconcilable differences for the divorce. The documents also state a prenup was in place.

Mustard and Chanel wed in 2018 and had been together since they were 19. Their relationship birthed three children in Kiylan (10), Kauner (7), and Kody (2).

Online, Chanel appeared to acknowledge the split: “Thank you for the kind words, thoughts and prayers. Anyone that followed me or knows me personally knows my family means the world to me. I’ve dedicate 12 loyal years and it is more then heartbreaking to see things end.”

Pastor Sues Kanye West for Being Sample on ‘DONDA’ Single “Come to Life”

Kanye West Has Spent Over $50 Million on Sunday Service Events

Kanye West will have another day in court. The Sunday Service creator is being sued by a pastor for his sermon being included in the DONDA album.

According to TMZ, Bishop David Paul Moten stated his sermon was used on the single “Come To Life” without permission. In the suit, Moten states he is appearing in 20% of the song, a total of 70 seconds. The song in full is just over five minutes long.

The suit also reads the unauthorized sample is part of the industry’s trend to “willfully and egregiously sampling sound recordings of others without consent or permission.”

Included in the suit are UMG Recordings, Def Jam Recordings, and G.O.O.D. Music.

Last night, Dave Chappelle’s onstage appearance last night (May 3) came to an immediate stop when someone rushed the stage and attacked Chappelle. Now, it’s been reported tht the individual had a gun and pulled it out on Chappelle during the performance.

During Dave’s “Netflix Is A Joke” Festival, a man managed to get onstage and tackle Chappelle, slamming him onto the stage. Authorities also say that the man had a gun in his hand as he rushed the comedian in stage, but the gun was not real.

A crowd of people ran after the assailant, who eventually caught up to him “and beat the crap out of him, stomping on him.” Eyewitnesses say Busta Rhymes and Jamie Foxx even got in a couple of blows on the assailant.

The attacker was taken away on a stretcher and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Dave continued with his act, telling the audience, “I don’t know if that was part of the show. I grabbed the back of that n***** head, his hair was spongy, absorbent.”

Chris Rock ironically was one of Chappelle’s guests, who after the attack, came on stage, hugged Chappelle and said, “Was that Will Smith?”

Teyana Taylor has announced The Last Rose Petal 2… Farewell Tour, which will be her final tour. The 18-city tour, produced by Live Nation and Femme It Forward, kicks off on Wednesday, August 3rd at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, CA, and will stop in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Miami, and other cities across the US before heading to Europe and finishing on Thursday, September 8th at the Bataclan in Paris, France.

“I kept my promise… I told you I would come back for you #TLRP2 is here! Come out and watch me, leave it all out on the stage… One last time… Just for you & as my last rose petal falls…” Teyana wrote on Instagram.

She then left an additional message: “P.S. make sure y’all get y’all tickets early cause I don’t wanna hear y’all asses complaining about shit being sold out!”

D.L. Hughley and Kanye West haven’t always seen eye-to-eye. In the latest bit of commentary from Hughley, he points out Pete Davidson is poking the bear of YE by getting a neck tattoo of the initials Kim Kardashian and her children with the DONDA rapper.

TMZ caught up with Hughley and says that if he was Kanye he would be pissed off. “I think it’s his body, it’s his woman. That’s Kanye’s kids. That would piss me off,” Hughley said. “To me, the father’s alive, he’s taking care of his kids, there’s — I don’t know what that’s all about. That’s none of my business but if you tattooed my kid’s name on your neck, I’d have something to say about it.”

Hughley would also call it antagonizing. “You puttin’ that man’s kids on your neck, that’s antagonizing. That’s out of pocket for me.”

Previously, Hughley found himself on the opposite side of the Davidson drama leading to Kanye letting off some Instagram messages about the comedian.

“D.L. Hughley is a pawn Yeah I know a king not supposed to address a pawn but I address everything and fine addresses DL So don’t speak on me or my children I can afford to hurt you,” Ye wrote.

Kanye would also hurl insults at Hughley, accusing him of being a drug abuser and more. Hughley would hit Twitter to respond.

“Hmmm! Ain’t it weird that #Kanye supposedly has all these goons who will kill for him, but not one of them will get his prescriptions filled?” Hughley tweeted. “Here’s a thought while you’re on your way to kill me in Calabasas, how about somebody drop by CVS and pick up his Xanax! Lol #TeamDl.”

Hughley would also take shots at West’s clothes and even the sexual life of Kardashian and Davidson.

After watching all the madness unfold, Steve Harvey hopped in to get Ye cleared up on one thing, D.L. Hughley would win a fight. Speaking on the Steve Harvey Morning Show, Harvey told West the equivalent of Lil Durk’s hit single “Dis Ain’t What U Want.”

“Pull up, it ain’t what you want. If y’all do get to scrapping, all my cash on D.L., cause you have no idea,” Harvey said. “You been a lil politically, socially conscious rapper—we from a ass-whoopin’ era.”

Jhene Aiko Named Mental Health Is Health Ambassador in Los Angeles

The City of Los Angeles and Didi Hirsch, the premier provider of whole-person mental health and crisis care, honored Jhené Aiko as a Mental Health Is Health Ambassador on the steps of City Hall on Friday, April 29th.

“There’s no coincidence that we are on this earth with billions of others and there’s no reason anyone should feel alone in anything that they’re going through,” Jhené Aiko said. “It’s important that we’re there for one another to help each other get through this journey because it can be beautiful.”

Aiko has had her fair share of mental health challenges. She has spoken up about her anxiety, despair, and unresolved trauma in public. As a form of personal treatment, she began composing lyrics and making music, translating her anguish and suffering into art. She reinforced at the MHIHM pronouncement that life is a journey, and it can be difficult at times, but it’s easier when you’re not alone.

Jhené Aiko has joined MTV Entertainment Group, and Adia Fadaei, a 19-year-old student and crisis volunteer at Didi Hirsch, as a Mental Health Youth Ambassador. Selena Gomez, Bebe Rexha, and Kid Cudi have all been Didi Hirsch ambassadors in the past, but Jhene Aiko was the first to be honored on the city’s steps for the first-ever Mental Health is Health Month Proclamation.
