Martin Lawrence Gives Jamie Foxx Update

Martin Lawrence just gave fans an update on Jamie Foxx’s slow but sure path to recovery following his medical emergency. Moreover, he recently spoke to Extra at the unveiling of his Hollywood Walk of Fame star, which unfortunately carried a saddened context due to his colleague Foxx’s condition. When asked about the Django Unchained star’s status, the actor and comedian gave positive words on his prompt recovery. Although this situation distressed many fans out there, all news on the subject has been mostly about promising updates surrounding his health. Hopefully, the actor can return to business as usual soon.

“Well, I hear he’s doing better,” Martin Lawrence told the publication. “My prayers go out for him every night, and just wishing the best for him. (He’s) one of the best that we got in Hollywood, not only one of the best entertainers but a good person.” Fortunately, recent reports suggested that Jamie Foxx is “awake and alert” as doctors are still monitoring his condition and possibility for release. From the very first message breaking the news, straight from his daughter Corrine, fans knew that he was in good hands.

Martin Lawrence Says Jamie Foxx Is “Doing Better”

“From the Foxx Family,” her Instagram post began. “We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.” However, said news also came attached with early TMZ reports that this situation could’ve been much more life-threatening. “We’re told his condition was serious enough that Jamie’s family- some of whom were not in town- came to the hospital,” the outlet reported. “He’s communicating now, and that’s good news.”

Despite production issues and hijinks that plagued his Netflix film Back In Action during filming, it seems the set has continued with some work following this most recent (and largest) emergency. For example, his body double reportedly filmed some scenes with costar Cameron Diaz. As such, maybe what’s going on at the set indicates that Foxx will fully recover soon. VeganHood and Culinary Conveaux Bring Health And Wellness To Black Couples

6D3A9600

There used to be a narrative promoted that less and less black couples were getting married or engaged. After 8 years of marriage and witnessing several friends navigating through relationships, it was evident that wasn’t true. I did learn that most of us weren’t taught much about how to maintain them. Danisha Baughan created the Conveaux to fill that void and empower the minority community by providing insightful conversation and intricately curated events.

Baughan. who is a mental health counselor and mom of three founded Conveaux in 2016 with an idea to bring a group of loved ones together. Dani used her Bronx livingroom to create a safe environment to allow an open forum for sharing a slew of relationship topics. Now her sold out events have become the talk of town frequented by a hosts of influencers and notables including celebrity therapist Arron Muller, Rapper Styles P and his entrepreneur wife Adjua Styles, Kells Barnett of 5001 Flavors/Harlem Haberdashery and Marsha Badger of Hello Beautiful. Conveaux has since expanded to a life and relationships wellness company that provides holistic services and therapeutic experiences focused on supporting couples find solution-focused work that helps everyone become better for themselves and better for someone else.

The Source got to witness the beauty of a Culinary Conveaux event and it was more than expected. The meticulously designed and tasty shindig included an open conversation and a 4-course vegan meal partially cooked by the couple with handcrafted cocktails by Maker’s Mark and moderated by @introvertnthecity The event–held on love day was a sight to see at Harlem’s hotspot VeganHood. The visually stunning restaurant with decor by Nazure was the perfect backdrop for an evening of conversing over good food. The all plant-based fine dining experience was created by the owners Lanise Herman-Thomas & Janine Smalls to bring a familiar and relatable taste to our urban community. From the vegan ‘meatballs’, the mac and cheese to our ‘crab cakes’–everything would fool the pickiest meat eater.  The owners—who are sisters—hold a fondness for the neighborhood being one of the first vegan restaurants in Harlem. They started their business during the height of COVID out of their office kitchen. “We saw a need in our neighborhood for food that was similar to what we grew up eating but instead of it being animals it needed to be 100% plant-based vegan. We thought “how could we get people to love vegan food when they believe that all vegans eat are leaves and water?”

Well their Saint Nick Fried Chick’n, soy free mac & cheese, potato salad, skrimp and grits and Oreo puddings, will definitely change your mind. The event included fun games, photos, libations and a cute couples gift bag with a picnic blanket included for more cool conveaux’s.

Young M.A. Details Sobriety, Her Health, And New Music

Little more than a month ago, New York rapper Young M.A. admitted to her fans that she recently spent some time in the hospital following a health scare. Though she’s mostly kept details under wraps, the 31-year-old confirmed that she’s been feeling better than ever lately, and recent photos reflect that her appearance is matching her energy. On Easter Sunday (April 7), M.A. took to her Instagram Story to offer more information to followers, offering an explanation as to why she’s “been low-key” as of late.

“Long story short, basically, it’s a small setback,” the “Tip The Surgeon” hitmaker optimistically noted. “Unfortunately, I made. a lot of wrong decisions in my life. You know, [they’re] starting to catch up with [me]. So, I just want y’all to know, besides all that I’m actually doing much better,” she explained, alleviating the concern of many nervous fans. “I’ve been getting well. I’ve been very much sober. I don’t want to specifically go into detail. Because I really want to bring y’all on my journey.”

Young M.A. Updates Fans on Her Life

While focusing on her health is certainly a number one priority for now, Young M.A. also promised that she’s got more heat on the way. “I’m dropping some new music of course,” the Herstory artist happily revealed. “Imma also have a documentary with my story. Imma keep y’all in tune, catch y’all back up. Because I know y’all been wondering.” She assured those watching that she’s simply mysterious by nature, and is usually the type to “keep [her] personal problems to [herself].”

“But now it’s time to expand that and express that to y’all,” she said near the end of her post. “It’s gon’ be one of those M.A. summers, I promise you,” the recent birthday girl declared in a follow-up Story. Concern for Young M.A. first began circulating online last month, after a video shared by the lyricist’s barber showed her looking rougher than usual after apparently not having her hair cut for some time. Read more about that here, and check back later for any updates on the star’s forthcoming music and documentary releases.

Kevin Gates Claims He Stopped Getting Sick Once He Started “Telling The Truth”

Kevin Gates has made plenty of baffling claims in the past. He once claimed that he jumpstarted a car with his bare hands – a statement that Akademiks pushed back against. Generally speaking, his holistic health advice has led many to wonder if he’s ever speaking the truth. Some have placed him as one of hip-hop’s most prolific liars while others feel like he simply likes to stir the pot. But, on the latest episode of I Am Athlete, Gates provided a questionable response surrounding his immune system

Gates explained to the hosts that he hasn’t gotten sick in a long time, which he credits for frequently telling the truth. “From me not telling the truth, my throat chakra started getting blocked and I started getting sick. I started having colds until I opened my throat chakra and speaking the truth. I haven’t been sick since,” he said. The hosts appeared puzzled by the claim, though he broke down how his mental and physical health work with one another.

Kevin Gates’ Latest Claim

“When I was living at the other spot before I moved here, I used to be sick a lot,” Gates continued. “Just weak and everything because I wasn’t speaking my truth. And when I’m not speaking my truth, I’m not living in my truth. And when you set boundaries, you’re showing love for yourself.” Even though the hosts didn’t seem entirely convinced about Gates’ claims, they transitioned the topic to the amount of pressure he faces as a breadwinner. The Louisiana rapper said that, these days, he doesn’t have trouble telling people “no.”

“It’s okay to tell people, ‘No, not today,’” Gates added. “But I had a fear of telling people, ‘No.’ Once you tell a n***ga, ‘No,’ they act like you never told ’em, ‘Yes.’” While Gates ended the segment with a relatively understandable point, fans continued to pile on him for his claims. Shortly after, he shared a pictograph from Karen Barrios that details the different ailments connected to emotions. Check out Gates’ interview above and peep his tweet below. Millions to Lose Medicaid as COVID-19 Safety Net Expires

kansasmedicaideligibility

Beginning this past weekend, U.S. states will begin to kick as many as 15 million people off Medicaid insurance as the emergency safety net initially put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic comes to an end.

What is Medicaid? Medicaid is a public health insurance program for people who have lower incomes. It is jointly administered by the state and federal governments. Over the past three years since the global pandemic, under an emergency pandemic measure, states have stopped double-checking if people who are enrolled in Medicaid are still eligible for its coverage. Suppose you were enrolled in Medicaid in March 2020 or became eligible at any point during the pandemic. In that case, you have remained eligible the entire time no matter what, even if your income later increased.  However, states will now double-check every Medicaid enrollee’s eligibility, a huge administrative task that will put health insurance coverage for millions of Americans at risk. Not everyone will be removed from the program all at once. States plan to verify all recipients’ eligibility over periods of nine months to one year.

The change is “disruptive,” said Dr. Adam Gaffney, a critical care physician at the Cambridge Health Alliance in Massachusetts who advocates for health care reform. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra says the Biden administration is working with states to prevent Americans from being without any health insurance. “One of the best ways to make sure they don’t, is to make sure that governors have adopted the Medicaid expansion program, which lets them cover more Americans within their Medicaid program,” Beccera said.

People with Medicaid should ensure their personal information is up-to-date, be on the lookout for Medicaid application materials in the mail or via email, and complete the renewal application by their state’s due date. People who lose Medicaid coverage will be eligible to purchase coverage under the Affordable Care Act. The termination notice should provide instructions.

Beyonce And Adidas Part Ways

Screen Shot 2023 03 24 at 1.08.38 AM

Four years ago Beyoncé partnered with Adidas for the relaunch of her athletic/leisure line Ivy Park for an icon celebrity drop that had the girls (and guys) in a frenzy.

Now, the partnership has come to a bitter end.
The Hollywood Reporter reports:

Beyoncé and Adidas are breaking up.

A source close to the situation tells The Hollywood Reporter that the Grammy-winning entrepreneur and the German lifestyle brand have mutually agreed to part ways.

In 2018, Beyoncé entered a creative partnership with Adidas, where she relaunched her Ivy Park activewear line and also developed new footwear and apparel for the brand.

But there has apparently been major creative differences between Ivy Park and Adidas, and Beyoncé is excitedly looking to reclaim her brand, chart her own path and maintain creative freedom.’
Will the Queen Bey do it again?
