GloRilla Announces Debut Album ‘GLORIOUS’, Drops “Hollon” Track

GRAMMY-nominated artist GloRilla has raised the bar once again by dropping a huge announcement: her debut album GLORIOUS is set to arrive on October 11. The studio album comes after Big Glo trailblazed her way through the music industry with infectious hit records and high-profile collaborations that have won fans over around the globe. Fans who pre-order the album will get two instant gratification tracks, “Hollon” and her summer smash “TGIF.”

In addition to the album announcement, the 25-year-old has given fans a surprise by releasing “Hollon” as her latest single. The track has been teased several times on social media and went viral with fans who couldn’t get enough of the song by recording their own videos to it. “Hollon” is another banger from the CMG product as she weaves through the speaker-rattling production and dishes out fierce bars about how she handles her business with her collective of fierce women. “H*e, you must not know what you just started (da f*ck) / Me and my b*tches go gnarley / Give a f*ck about this party / We gone step on sh*t regardless (stamp dat),” Glo states triumphantly to open the track.

GloRilla has been on a tear over the last several months, starting with her last project, a 12-track effort titled Ehhthang, Ehhthang, which was released in April and generated over 550 million streams in the U.S. to date. The mixtape propelled Glo further into the spotlight and had her dominate the summer season as two of the project’s biggest songs, “Yeah Glo” and “Wanna Be” with Megan Thee Stallion, simultaneously hit Urban Radio Top 10 list along with her biggest anthem to date, the Rihanna-co-signed “TGIF.” Glo became the first female artist to achieve that feat in almost a decade and she didn’t stop there as all three songs went on to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, with each peaking at the Top 30. In particular, “Wanna Be” went #1 on the Rhythmic Radio chart while “TGIF” is still active, cracking the Top 10 this week and still climbing.

Glo also received the key to the city of Memphis for her musical achievements in September and also performed an exhilarating set at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, where she was also nominated four times and turned heads with a red carpet look inspired by Vogue, which was highlighted in a ‘Get Ready With’ piece with the iconic publication. The bonafide hitmaker also hit the road alongside Megan Thee Stallion as an opening act on her sold-out Hot Girl Summer tour earlier this summer. She was also invited to serve as a presenter at the ESPYs, iHeartRadio Music Awards, and Billboard Women in Music. The Glo train isn’t stopping there either, as the rapper has been nominated seven times for the upcoming 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards in October.

GloRilla Kicks Off Her ‘Glorious’ Rollout With The Rambunctious ‘Hollon’ Video

One thing GloRilla is good at: giving fans rambunctious singalong anthems with crowd-pleasing chants set to soul-shaking beats. Her latest is “Hollon” — as in “hold on” with that inscrutable Memphis accent of hers — and it’s a stern warning to not start with Glo, because she’ll certainly end it. As she puts it in the first verse: “you must not know what you just started / Me and my bitches go gnarly / Give a f*ck about this party / We gon’ step on sh*t regardless.”

The single is the first from GloRilla’s heavily anticipated debut album Glorious, which she announced today after a busy year that included joining Megan Thee Stallion on tour, releasing a hit mixtape, Ehhthang Ehhthang (told y’all about that accent), getting arrested for a DUI, performing at the BET Awards and the MTV VMAs, and receiving the key to the city of Memphis.

Glorious, which takes inspiration from GloRilla’s real name, Gloria, is due for release on October 11. It also might not be the last project she releases in the near future, as she and Megan Thee Stallion both expressed interest in recording a joint album. Stay tuned.

You can watch the video for “Hollon” above.

Glorious will be out on 10/11 via CMG/Interscope. Find more information here.

GloRilla Absolutely Rattles The Trunk With New Single “HOLLON”

GloRilla commands attention. No matter if the song is hers, or is she’s just dropping a sixteen on another artist’s track. She is instantly recognizable, and she knows how to pop on instrumentals that would body anybody else. “HOLLON” is a prime example. The rapper’s new single has an absolutely monstrous beat with rattling hi hats and a propulsive horn sample running throughout. The instrumental boasts a sample of the Southern classic “Hold on Ho” by DJ Unk, and GloRilla does an excellent job of keeping the spirit of the original alive while adding her own spin.

An analysis of lyrics would be a waste of time. GloRilla is talking trash and flexing on her haters. What else would you want her to do? She does it well, and it sounds ridiculously catchy as she does it. “Ho, you must not know what you just started. Me and my b**ches go gnarly,” she raps. “Give a f*ck about this party. We gon’ step on sh*t regardless.” Not the most exciting bars to read, but GloRilla says them with conviction, and that Unk sample goes a long way in selling the memorability of “HOLLON.” You’ll enjoy it.

GloRilla has delivered some EPs and mixtapes, like 2022’s Anyways, Life’s Great and this year’s Ehhthang Ehhthang, but we haven’t gotten a proper album from Glo yet. Well, that changes soon: Today (September 19), GloRilla announced her debut album, Glorious.

The project is set to drop soon, on October 11. On top of that, she’s releasing a new song, “Hollon,” at midnight tonight, so in a few hours.

GloRilla revealed the news today by sharing the album cover art on social media and writing, “GLORIOUS da album dropping 10/11[fire emojis] So grateful to be sharing this with y’all and as a little treat I’m blessing y’all with HOLLON tonight at midnight. AYEEEEE.”

GloRilla actually let the cat partially out of the bag a few days ago when she said in an interview, “I’m dropping an album next month, in October. I’m so excited about that. We gon’ go No. 1! [The title] starts with a G.”

Meanwhile, Glo recently expressed interest in linking up with Megan Thee Stallion for a joint album, saying, “Megan is a real rapper, and I’m also a real rapper. We actually be talking and coming with bars on some down South gangsta sh*t. [It would be] some down South, real turnt, real rap [sh*t].” Meg also said, “I think that would be very fire. I ain’t gon’ say too much, but it feels like it’s going to get done.”

GloRilla Plans To Release Her Debut Album In October

Gloria Hallelujah Woods has had a great 2024, and just might be getting better. The Memphis rapper — better known as GloRilla — has already released a mixtape this year, but may soon be following up with her official debut album. Ehhthang Ehhthang produced a couple of hits — namely, “Wanna Be” with Megan Thee Stallion and “Yeah Glo!” — but she’s since released the borderline inescapable “TGIF,” and it seems now we know where that’s probably going to end up. Thanks to a red carpet interview from the 2024 MTV VMAs, where GloRilla performed last week, we also have a pretty good idea when Glo’s debut will drop.

“I’m dropping an album next month, in October,” she told Extra. “I’m so excited about that. We gon’ go number one! [The title] starts with a G.” At a guess, I’m thinking Gloria or GloRilla. Self-titled albums are all the rage lately (just look at Megan and Michael, two of the biggest albums of the last two years), and as a debut, a self-titled could be a strong move in generating some brand awareness.

Of course, album release dates tend to move around, so unless Glo drops an official announcement, take “October” with a grain of salt. Still, it’s exciting that we might be getting a landmark album from an artist having a banner year.

GloRilla Reveals Finding Out Ham is Pork Ruined Her Upcoming Thanksgiving Dinner

GloRilla is teasing her debut album. Speaking with Extra TV, Big Glo revealed the album will come in October. “I’m so excited about that. We gon’ go number one!”

Speaking on the album, Glo revealed it starts with a “G” but does not go any further.

On Sunday, September 1, Grammy-nominated artist and philanthropist GloRilla was awarded the Key to the City of Memphis by Mayor Paul Young, recognizing her musical achievements over the past three years. The honor was presented during Memphis’ 901 Day celebration, which acknowledges the city’s 901 area code and the 9/1 date.

Surrounded by family and friends, GloRilla received the prestigious accolade as her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, “Wanna Be,” hit No. 1 at Rhythmic Radio on the same day—a first for her. The track also climbed to No. 1 on Urban Radio the week before.

In August, GloRilla made history as the first artist since Nicki Minaj in 2015 to have three songs simultaneously in the Top 10 of Urban Radio: “Yeah Glo,” “Wanna Be,” and “TGIF.”

GloRilla is set to make her highly anticipated performance debut at MTV’s Video Music Awards on September 11 in New York City. She is also nominated for three awards, including “Best Hip-Hop” and “Best Collaboration” for “Wanna Be.”

GloRilla Announces Debut Album And It’s Coming Very Soon

GloRilla has being seeing a lot of success in 2024, but she’s about to see even more when she releases her debut album. According to HipHopDX, the Memphis rapper revealed this bombshell while on the red carpet of the MTV VMAs this past Wednesday. She spoke with Extra TV and spilled the beans pretty much immediately. “I’m dropping an album next month, in October”, she began. In fact, she’s so excited and confident about this next project that she’s already declaring it’s going to be a chart topper. “I’m so excited about that. We gon’ go number one!”.

Furthermore, Big Glo gave the interviewer a small hint about the direction in terms of the title. “It start with a G”, she said. For now, that’s about all we know about the “Yeah Glo!” hitmaker’s debut. However, there’s always some things we can speculate on. For starters, we can probably assume that “TGIF”, her most recent release, will go on to serve as the lead single.

GloRilla Says Her Debut Will Be Out In October

Furthermore, we can probably bet that she will drop at least one or two more tracks ahead of its release. One of them could be the song she previewed on her social media that led to some heavy backlash based on its original use of the R-word. If you remember, she did wind up changing the lyrics and a potential title for it is “Hol’ On”. For now though, we are excited that the debut is on the way soon and we cannot wait to see what’s in store.

What are your thoughts on GloRilla announcing her debut album? Do you think this will be her strongest project yet? Is Ehhthang Ehhthang still in your rotation? Out of all of the female rappers, is she having the best year of them all? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding GloRilla. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

GloRilla Plays Off Nearly NSFW Wardrobe Malfunction During VMAs Performance

GloRilla was one of plenty of stars who hit the MTV Video Music Awards stage on Wednesday (September 11), and did so explosively. Moreover, she performed her two big 2024 hits, those being “Yeah Glo!” and “TGIF.” It was overall a pretty satisfying and fun performance, but the swift wardrobe change in between songs was sadly imperfect. A couple of minutes into the “TGIF” rendition, the “Mama” femcee’s bra strap seemed to come apart, and she had to hold onto it with one hand while rapping into the mic in the order so that she wouldn’t expose herself. That wasn’t part of the rehearsals…

Still, GloRilla kept her composure and performed throughout the song without missing a beat. The only thing that made an issue noticeable was the visual aspect of seeing her hold onto herself. Eventually, once the Memphis native was back and standing on the main stage, a backup dancer noticed the issue and fixed the issue so that she could perform normally to close the medley out. It was a pretty smooth and easily manageable malfunction, so props to her and her team for being so graceful with it. Her frequent collaborator Megan Thee Stallion also had some killer performances as well as a hosting gig, and it seems like we might get a full joint album from them in the near future.

GloRilla’s VMAs Performance

The malfunction occurs at around the 2:30-minute mark.

Elsewhere, though, GloRilla recently reflected on how social media meanies can motivate you as much as they can irritate you. It just depends on which side of yourself you let win. “I remember bookmarking dis & telling myself ‘Dey gotchu f***ed up so bad,’” she quote-tweeted a post that read “Glorilla fell off so fast and bad” along with crying emojis. “Dis post ain’t do s**t but put a battery in my back i needed data don’t let dese people write yo story for you , Keep going !!!”

Meanwhile, we might see another side to GloRilla’s artistry develop further these days. She recently showed off her singing skills on a new Muni Long collab, which many fans weren’t expecting. It’s not perfect (just like anything else), but it could definitely lead to more dynamic performances in the future. Let’s hope that these don’t run into the same wardrobe malfunctions, although it’s good to know that these are no problem at all for Big Glo to handle.

GloRilla Got Down To Business In Her 2024 VMAs Performance Of ‘Yeah Glo!’ And ‘TGIF’

The crowd at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards was left yelling, “Yeah, Glo!” after GloRilla’s performance of that song, decked out in a black-and-white suit, which turned into a skimpy bikini as she performed “TGIF” atop a conference table, replete with the flames that seemed like a prerequisite for pretty much every other performance of the night.

The Memphis native is fresh off the release of her second mixtape, Ehhthang Ehhthang, which produced “Wanna Be” with Megan Thee Stallion, its remix with Cardi B, and “All Dere” with Moneybagg Yo. She also joined Megan Thee Stallion on her Hot Girl Summer Tour, realized that Cardi B is her cousin, and had a slew of various wardrobe malfunctions. She was also presented with the key to the city of Memphis, making her very much a hometown hero and a burgeoning superstar.

She and Meg also apparently have plans to drop a joint album in the near future, with Meg saying, “I ain’t gon’ say too much, but it feels like it’s going to get done.” Not bad for a pair of rappers who say they weren’t sure about each other when they first met.

You can check out GloRilla’s performance video above, and keep up with the full list of VMAs winners here.

Beyoncé Names Some Of Her Current Favorite Artists, Including Victoria Monét, GloRilla, And Chappell Roan

Between recording, touring, releasing her own whiskey, spending time with her family, and watching clips from Austin Powers In Goldmember on YouTube (oh wait, that’s me), Beyoncé lives a busy life. But the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer still finds time to keep up with contemporary music, as she revealed to GQ.

When asked to name some of her current favorites, Beyoncé replied, “I love and respect all of the female singers-songwriters who are out right now. Raye, Victoria Monét, Sasha Keable, Chloe x Halle, and Reneé Rapp. I love Doechii and GloRilla, and I just heard That Mexican OT, he’s from Houston… he goes hard!”

Beyoncé is also a fan of “Please Please Please” by Sabrina Carpenter, and she thinks “that Thee Sacred Souls and Chappell Roan are talented and interesting. I’m obsessed with my backseat baby…. I’m a Smiler.” (I believe that’s a reference to Miley Cyrus; her fans are known as Smilers, and they worked together on Cowboy Carter standout “II Most Wanted.”)

But when she’s not nodding knowingly to the “and a Jay-Z song was on” lyric in “Party In The U.S.A.,” Beyoncé is sticking with the classics, “like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and music from artists on the Stax label,” she said. “I just watched that documentary [Stax: Soulsville USA]. It’s so good! I highly recommend it.” It’s not her favorite film of 2024, however. “The best movie I’ve seen this year is Inside Out 2,” she said. “I think it’s brilliant, and I’m currently watching House Of The Dragon and The Chi.” Maybe her next album cover will ditch the horse in favor of a dragon.
