Ice Spice & Taylor Swift’s “Karma (Remix)” Called “Rushed” By Twitter Users

Those in the Spice Cabinet are still happily streaming Isis Gaston’s “Princess Diana (Remix)” with Nicki Minaj, which marked the biggest moment of the 23-year-old’s career to date. While she herself is still coming down from the high of crossing that off her bucket list, Ice Spice continues to beef up her resume, now adding the first rapper to collaborate with Taylor Swift to her list of accolades. The pair teamed up for “Karma (Remix)” on Friday (May 26), and while the idea is certainly admirably ambitious, it missed the mark with many listeners, and they weren’t afraid to express their feelings on Twitter.

“That verse was so bad,” one user wrote after the song premiered. “You can really tell the ‘Karma (Remix)’ was done last minute for damage control to clear Taylor Swift & her [Nazi] boyfriend image after he said all those racist slurs to Ice Spice,” they further speculated. “Hope she got a massive cheque though.” Several others agreed with this sentiment, noting the odd timing of the New Yorker’s link-up with Taylor amid her rumoured relationship with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.

Ice Spice Lands Another Major Collaboration

As we reported earlier this year, the “Somebody Else” singer poked fun at Spice’s appearance earlier this year. A few months later he offered an odd apology while on stage, and Swift has avoided commenting on the situation entirely. This has also sparked outrage amongst some fans, who expected more from the Red hitmaker.

“Taylor Swift failing to address the racist comments Matt Healy made towards Ice Spice and then finding a way to profit off of her with a new collab is a textbook example of white woman feminism,” one of them pointed out. “It’s convenient, manipulative and continues to shield and protect white men.”

Lauren Jauregui Reunites With Ex Ty Dolla Sign & Russ For “Wolves” From Her New EP

41-year-old Ty Dolla Sign and former Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui may not have been able to make their romance work, but that’s not stopping them from collaborating musically. The creative couple spent two years together, but ultimately amicably ended their union in 2019. Now, in 2023, they’ve reunited for the black-haired beauty’s new In Between EP alongside Russ on a track called “Wolves.”

“I’ve been runnin’ with the wolves and I made it alright / Searchin’ for my purpose and I’m learnin’ / That we don’t really get a lot of time,” the pop star sings on the opening chorus. Afterward, we hear from Ty Dolla, who vents about the undeniably lonely times that come about when you have no one to turn to. “There comes a time in every man’s life / When he gotta handle shit up on his own / You can’t depend on your friends when you in a tight squeeze / Everybody got problems of they own,” the multi-talent croons.

For his part, Russ delivers bars in his signature flow, rhyming about dreaming big and trusting his intuition. “Clock tickin’, plot and stop bitchin’ / Lot of fake stars, but I ain’t ’bout to stop wishin’,” the second verse starts. “I’ma just distance me from your existence / Every time my gut talks, I try to just listen.” Of the seven titles on Jauregi’s new EP, “Wolves” is the only one with guest features. The others – including previously released singles “Always Love” and “Trust Issues” find her operating solo.

GloRilla’s New “Lick Or Sum” Single Samples “Slob On My Nob”: Stream

In 2022, Memphis-based rap diva GloRilla made her mark on the world thanks to the far-reaching success of “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” and its remix. On top of that, she also delivered her debut EP, Anyways, Life’s Great… which saw her link up with Cardi B for another fan favourite, “Tomorrow 2.” So far, this year has seen her showing out with equal intensity. We’ve heard her deliver collaborations like “On Wat U On” with Moneybagg Yo and “Internet Trolls” alongside Hitkidd.

On Tuesday (May 23), Big Glo stood out from the New Music Friday crowd with her latest single. “Lick Or Sum” came along with a twerk-filled music video this afternoon. It samples 2000’s “Slob On My Nob” from Tear Da Club Up Thugs, Three 6 Mafia, and Project Pat. Filled with NSFW lyrics, the nearly two-and-a-half-minute-long track is sure to be heavily quoted on social media over the coming weeks.

GloRilla and Friends Let Loose in the “Lick Or Sum” Visual

“Lick on my cl*t, make this p*ssy cream / Do this motherf*cker how you do the Russian Creams,” the 23-year-old begins her first verse. “Smokin’ on this pack, you know the p*ssy fat / Lookin’ like he fiendin’, got his nose all in my crack, GloRilla continues, only becoming more salacious as she goes along. While she handles the rhyming by herself, the new video finds her linking up with plenty of friends, letting loose and having fun while dancing along to her soon-to-be summer anthem.

Erica Banks Says She “Hated” Her Breakout Single “Buss It” Before It Blew Up

Whether you love or hate her, it’s hard to deny that Erica Banks has made her mark on the world of female rap. The biggest tracks we’ve heard from her so far are “Buss It” and “Toot That” featuring DreamDoll and BeatKing, but the southern starlet has plenty more on the way for fans. The former release wound up going viral on TikTok, prompting bodacious beauties such as Yung Miami and Ice Spice to participate in a salacious video challenge showing off their silhouettes.

While she certainly has the track to thank for the success she’s achieved today, Banks admitted during a recent interview that she initially wasn’t a fan of her work. “It’s done a lot for me,” she told Gray Rizzy on SiriusXM’s Hip-Hop Nation. “It had to grow on me first because I didn’t like the record, so I wasn’t gonna put it out. I hated it.” Thankfully, the 24-year-old followed the advice of her team, who helped bring in a major W for Banks with her first Platinum-certified single.

Erica Banks Didn’t Love “Buss It”

Aside from that impressive accolade, “Buss It” also peaked at No. 47 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, earning Banks some bragging rights. “I listened to my team. I’m glad I did. And it has brought me to sitting right here with you today,” the rap diva acknowledged to Rizzy. “I’m three years in. I’m on my second single. I’m still doing amazing, at a fast pace and I’m just proud of myself, like very proud. So I’m just happy to be here for the most part.”

Music is obviously the main focus in her life, but fans of Erica Banks will also get to see her shine on season 11 of Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta, which premieres on MTV next month. Summer Walker’s “CLEAR 2: SOFT LIFE” EP Earns Erykah Badu Comparisons

Summer Walker and Erykah Badu have a bond that runs deep. Not only are they both beautifully talented R&B stars in their own right, but their chosen career paths have also allowed them to connect in a far deeper way. The birth of the Atlanta native’s twins a few months ago was actually overseen by “The Healer” herself, who shared plenty of thoughtful words about her experience acting as Walker’s doula alongside her own daughter, Puma Curry. While they have yet to actually collaborate together musically, it seems Badu’s energy is rubbing off on her young friend, as her influence is all over the latter’s new CLEAR 2: SOFT LIFE EP.

The project is a long-awaited sequel to 2019’s CLEAR, on which she shared four featureless tracks with fans. The mother of three spiced things up this time around, recruiting J. Cole to kick things off with “To Summer, From Cole – Audio Hug,” as well as Childish Gambino, who offered up his help on “New Type.” The other seven titles are handled by Walker alone, though she did have Solange Knowles and Steve Lacy’s help with production on the final title, “Agayu’s Revelation.”

Summer Walker’s CLEAR 2: SOFT LIFE is Here

In the hours since CLEAR 2: SOFT LIFE hit DSPs, fans have been consistently drawing comparisons to Badu on social media. Many of them are positive, writing messages like, “Summer Walker really Erykah Badu Goddaughter. Love this sound sm,” and “[This] is what I didn’t know I needed.” Others, however, are unimpressed by the Still Over It songstresses’ copycat vibes. “Summer Walker on Erykah Badu beats with these dumb ass lyrics is pissing me off,” one Twitter user ranted on Friday (May 19) morning.

“I got mixed feelings about this Summer EP. I do appreciate the Erykah Badu inspo and shit… But we need Summer Walker, not Summer Badu,” another person expressed, noting that they hope the project eventually grows on them with time.

Since she first announced the impending arrival of her Clear 2: Soft Life EP at Dreamville Festival a few weeks back, Summer Walker fans have been bubbling over with excitement. With the debut date (this Friday, May 19) quickly creeping around the corner, the mother of three teased fans on Monday with a video revealing the project’s tracklist, as well as some noteworthy features and producers who helped out.

In the short and sweet clip, Walker hangs out with two of her best gal pals – Sexyy Red and Sukihana. The trio hilariously sample caviar while kicking it poolside. “So this is what the Caucasian people be eatin’?” the R&B starlet quips before giving us the details we’ve been waiting for at the end of the visual. If provided in order, the tracklist will begin with “To Summer, From Cole (Audio Hug),” which could potentially involve help from J. Cole, though nothing has been confirmed at this time.

Janelle Monáe Brings Her “Lipstick Lover” To Our Weekly “R&B Season” Playlist

Janelle Monáe has been a favourite on the internet this past week, largely thanks to her sexually liberated antics. While announcing their highly anticipated follow-up to Dirty Computer, the Kansas City native shared an NSFW wet t-shirt clip on Twitter to promote her upcoming album‘s second single, “Lipstick Lover.” Fans thought they couldn’t possibly top that, but Monáe ultimately proved them wrong by flashing her bare breasts during a recent performance, causing yet another viral moment. While we don’t have an update on the singer’s wild adventures, we are happy to report her appearance on our weekly R&B Season playlist today, along with some other new favourites.

Jorja Smith made a triumphant return a few days ago with “Little Things,” marking her second single of 2023. The first, “Try Me,” landed in mid-April, also to positive reviews. Following that on our R&B Season round-up comes Remi Wolf’s “Prescription,” as well as an upbeat remix from Ciara. The mother of three opted to slow down her controversial “Da Girls” track with the help of Derrick Milano, creating more of a slow jam feeling for listeners tuning in.

HNHH R&B Season Playlist

Collaborations that caught our attention this New Music Friday include Tyla and Arya Starr’s “Girl Next Door,” as well as a joint effort from KayCyy and Gesaffelstein. The latter duo came together on “ROLL THE DICE,” with K handling lyrics while G took care of production. Closing things out comes a title from Keke Palmer’s first project in a decade, Big Boss. We absolutely suggest streaming the mother of one’s work entirety when you have time, but if you’re looking for a simple sample, we suggest you begin with “FR FR” over anything else on the tracklist.

Nicki Minaj’s “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” Visual Has The Barbz Praising Her On Twitter

Few fanbases ride for their favourite artists the way The Barbz do for Nicki Minaj. On Saturday (May 13), the Trinidadian finally unleashed the visual for her “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” single from earlier this year, for which she linked up with reality starlet Brooke Bailey. In her usual fashion, Minaj rocks plenty of outfit changes throughout the footage and certainly didn’t hesitate to bring her usual confidence and attitude.

Shortly after premiering the highly anticipated music video, the Queen of Rap turned to Twitter to read some fan reactions. “What’s your favourite thing about the #RedRubyVideo y’all?” she asked followers to weigh in last night. “And I’m doing a Q&A using the hashtags. Watch it on YouTube RIGHT NOW then come back here to holla @ me.” As per usual, The Barbz were quick to follow Minaj’s instructions, showing her standout parts from the “Red Ruby” video while also asking questions about upcoming projects and her personal life.

Nicki Unleashes “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” Music Video

It seems that many social media users noticed the same details in the “Red Ruby” visual, such as Minaj and Bailey’s expert synchronization, as well as the former’s ability to talk down a busy city street without being recognized. Elsewhere, several others made note of the 40-year-old’s body, which is looking slim thicker than ever before.

It’s been a busy year for Nicki already, but that doesn’t mean she’s looking to slow down. Aside from her own throwback-sampling solo release, we’ve also heard her connect with Kim Petras, Ice Spice, and NBA YoungBoy so far in 2023. On top of that, the lyricist has been hinting at an upcoming album, as well as a tour that’s sure to rival Beyoncé’s ongoing RENAISSANCE venture.

Beyoncé Has Priceless Reaction To “RENAISSANCE” Audience Singing “Love On Top”: Watch

Beyoncé is obviously the main attraction on her RENAISSANCE World Tour, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t giving the crowd a chance to shine too. Earlier this week, the mother of three began her latest venture with a bang in Stockholm, Sweden, where her fabulous costumes and killer choreography made countless headlines. One moment in particular that’s been going viral is her apparent shady response to Donald Glover’s Swarm series. Elsewhere, more wholesome footage circulating shows Bey having a priceless reaction to her audience beautifully singing one of her biggest hits back to her.

In a TikTok that was uploaded following this week’s performance, the Houston native powerfully sings 2011’s “Love on Top.” After showing off her own vocal prowess, the BeyHive proved to their favourite artist that they’ve been putting in work too. “Finally, you put my love on top / Baby, ‘cuz you’re the one that I love,” thousands of attendees ring out as Beyoncé’s face reveals an undeniably impressed reaction.

Beyoncé Loves Her BeyHive

“Give yourselves a round of applause,” the 41-year-old commanded her crowd, who quickly followed her instructions. Other old favourites visited by Beyoncé during her opening night setlist include “Diva,” “Haunted,” and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage (Remix),” just to name a few. Though her dance routines are notably less energetic than usual (likely due to an ongoing recovery from surgery), fans have still been wowed by what they’ve seen from the Lemonade hitmaker so far.

One viral routine that she did ensure to include in her first show was Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” choreography. Elsewhere, the Destiny’s Child alum clapped back at over-enthusiastic fans who have been begging her for her latest LP’s accompanying visuals, letting them know that “a Queen moves at her own pace, bitch.” What’s been your favourite viral moment from the RENAISSANCE World Tour so far? Doja Cat Re-Introduces Herself As Emcee Flapchunks The 3rd After Announcing New Album Name

If you thought that Kanye West’s past album rollouts have been confusing, wait until you see what Doja Cat has had in store for hers. Fans of the genre-bending recording artist have long been awaiting her follow-up to 2021’s Planet Her, which is set to arrive later this year. The Californian previously announced the project’s title as Hellmouth, but according to a recent tweet, she’s since changed her mind on that. “It’s not called ‘hEllMoUth’ either, it’s called ‘First of All,’” Doja wrote in a tweet earlier this week. “And yes I’m announcing the album title right now.”

After watching reactions to that news pour in over the past few days, the “Woman” songstress returned on Thursday (May 11) with another update. “Everyone so angyyyyyyyyyyy MUUUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA,” she tweeted earlier this afternoon, acknowledging the obvious discontent with her recent antics. Shortly after that, Doja said that has a new moniker which she wants everyone to recognize her by effective immediately.

Doja Cat Reveals Her New Name

“My stage name is no longer Doja Cat,” the 27-year-old boldly declared. “It’s Emcee Flapchunks the 3rd, and you’ll address me as such.” Thankfully, some followers have been matching the lyricist’s energy in her replies, writing things like, “I hope [you] have a bad day ’cause I have to change all my passwords from dojacathater to emceeflapchunkshater now.” Another comedic response reads, “Pls point me to Emcee Flapchunks the 1st and 2nd.” Elsewhere, fed-up fans are begging Doja to quit trolling and drop some new music already.

Aside from causing a stir on Twitter, the controversial starlet also hopped on Live a few days ago to preview some of her upcoming work. True to promise, she appears to be making a departure from pop music and instead, leaning into her talents as a rapper. What are your thoughts on Doja Cat’s new stage name?
