The mayor’s comments came a day after he released a statement saying the city is looking at March 7th to lift vaccination requirements for indoor dining, fitness centers and entertainment venues.

“I can’t wait to get it done,” Adams said. “I take my hat off to New Yorkers — through masks, vaccines, through social distancing, we were hit with the uncertainty, the fear of COVID. I’m really proud of how we responded as New Yorkers. And every morning I meet with my health professionals. Because I always stated I’m going to follow the science. I’m not going to get ahead of the science, because I’m ready to get ahead of all of this and get back to a level of normalcy.”

“But they’re giving us clear instructions, they’ve given us benchmarks, we’re going to follow those benchmarks. But I look forward in the next few weeks of going through a real transformation — that I don’t have to wonder what you look like … We’re going to get the city back up and operating. And we’re going to be rolling out some things in the next day or so on how we’re going to carry that out.”

Screen Shot 2022 02 28 at 1.29.11 AM

Entrepreneur, legendary producer and leading industry visionary Swizz Beatz teams up with premium vinyl brand 12on12 for the release of album Long Live Jazz

Following acclaimed collaborations with Travis Scott x Saint Laurent and RUN DMC, Swizz Beatz is not only the latest curator to work with 12on12, but he also comes on board as their new business partner. Acquiring a strategic stake in the high-end luxury vinyl brand, Swizz continues to build on 12on12’s reputation for unique Vinylworks’ and bespoke limited collector’s editions by compiling his own exclusive 12″ vinyl compilation featuring artwork from his own private collection (The Dean Collection) shot by revered photographer Kwame Brathwaite as the unique work of art for the record.

Swizz Beatz’s 12on12 is a limited edition premium package that is hand-numbered to a run of 1000 copies featuring a meticulously selected track list which shares Swizz’s love and passion for jazz across its four sides.

A modern day renaissance man, Swizz Beatz is keen to showcase Jazz to new generations and audiences while capturing the new vibrancy of the Jazz scene; demonstrated by his selection of a reworking of The Weeknd’s hit “Call Out My Name” by today’s leading jazz musicians the New Masters and featuring one of the most vital voices in 21st century Jazz: Immanuel Wilkins.

Swizz’s selections are all intentional taking the listener on a journey from iconic recordings of jazz standards including Miles Davies “Round Midnight” and Kenny Dorham’s “Alone Together” through to contemporary jazz from present day greats such as “Doubts” by Ibrahim Maalouf, where you can hear the unmistakable influence of Miles Davis alongside Maalouf’s Arabic sounds.

The piece of art selected by Swizz Beatz for the cover image “Untitled (Grandassas in Car)” was shot in 1968 during a Garvey Day Celebration in New York by Kwame Brathwaite. Brathwaite has a long history with jazz, having started his career as a co-founder of the African Jazz Arts Society and Studios (AJASS) before going on to photograph superstars like Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley, as well as jazz greats like Miles Davies and John Coltrane.

Swizz Beatz says, “Jazz has always been magic to our ears. I feel like it should definitely get more attention! This is the first step to pay homage to the great craft & art. Photography is also one of the best expressions of art and should be shown more often. Art & Music are brothers and sisters so I thought it was a great match. I’m a big fan of Kwame and I also love that I’m able to share pieces from my collection through music!””

Joe Budden Believes Meg Thee Stallion Is Not A SuperStar

Joe Budden Blasts ‘Fresh & Fit’ Podcast: “I See Why They Hate Some of You Having Microphones”

Meg Thee Stallion has been in a back and forth on social media this week regarding her current case against Tory Lanez where Meg Thee Stallion alleges that the Canadian singer shot her in her feet. Just last week the Texas hot girl found herself in a back and forth with both Tory Lanez and Dj Akademiks after a few posts regarding the case were made online.

Could the stallion be gearing up to defend herself yet again after Joe Budden has made some recent remarks stating that Meg Thee Stallion is not a superstar, despite all of her accolades during her short time in the industry.

During Budden’s podcast, the 41 year old stated that Meg’s album sales do not reflect the status of her career. “You’re not a superstar if you can’t sell an album, what the f**k are we talking about right now? What stops her from being a superstar if we’re taking out sales? She ain’t sold sh*t. Got every brand deal in the world, but also has all the backing from different people. She’s got a lot going on. That’s the game today.”

“Griselda has a lot going on (too). There’s mad artists that have a lot going on, your management team has got to be a whole f**king company of people. You got to have a team of know-it-all people,” Budden said in response to remarks that the game has changed.

“Y’all are just making rules up. You still got to know how to sell a f*king album. When Adele come out, you gotta move. When n****s come out, you gotta move. When a superstar comes out, you mortal, mere minion n****s have to move. Nobody does that for Lil Nas X, nobody does that for the seven Meg Thee Stallion releases that dropped over the past two years. What are we saying?”

While some believe that Joe Budden has a point, others believe that the podcast host could just be a hater.

What are your thoughts on Budden’s comments?

ICYMI: Snoop Dogg And Diddy Tease Death Row/Bad Boy Collaboration

snoop and diddy

Snoop Dogg and Diddy are teasing a possible collaboration.

After acquiring Death Row Records, Snoop posted a short film that included a call from Diddy, giving praise to the rapper who he says taught him how to play “chess, not checkers.”

“Congratulations king, great move, great move,” Diddy told the “Lodi Dodi” rapper, who responded, “You taught me how to play chess, not checkers.”

Snoop said they can do what they want now with Death Row and Bad Boy.

This epic moment would have seemed impossible at one time, as the east coast and west coast labels had beef with each other that went public on an airing of The Source Awards in 1995.

At the time Death Row’s owner Marion “Suge” Knight, took a blatant jab at Bad Boy Records founder Sean “Puffy” Combs aka Diddy after accepting the Best Movie Soundtrack of the Year award for the Above The Rim soundtrack.

With the awards taken place in NYC, the venue erupted with boos as Suge walked off the stage with Source’s coveted Mic and the momentum of the coastal beef only increased ten fold following this moment.

We’re glad to see things have come full circle in Hip Hop and this Death Row/Bad Boy collaboration will go down in Hip Hop history.
