Russ’ Shocking Earnings Revealed

Russ recently hopped on social media to share some motivation for aspiring musicians. He unveiled how much he made this week from his masters, explaining that you don’t have to be the most popular artist in the game to make a lot of money. The rapper also shared that his secret to maximizing his profit is owning his own music, which allows him to keep everything his songs bring in.

His post includes two screenshots of his balances on TuneCore and Vydia. One of them shows a balance of over $79k, while the other shows a balance of over $152k. This means that the performer earned more than $232k this week alone. Clearly, he must be doing something right.

He shared a message to followers alongside the reveal. “I know this is redundant to a lotta people but I really believe in trying to help artists understand THEIR potential and I hope to give the artists looking up to me and even my peers in the industry just a peek into an alternative possibility of doing this career,” he explained.

“Create a catalogue of a bunch of good songs that you own. They don’t have to be the biggest in the world but this is a volume game. Record labels make billions a year because of how much catalogue they own. They don’t tour [laughing emoji] you can build up an audience and generate enough money to outsource the same people the major labels hire. I’m blessed and I’m very grateful for my fans and I appreciate you guys for making all this possible. Without y’all I’d still just be chuggin away at this dream so thank you forever.” What do you think of Russ’ earnings? Jeezy Reveals The Best Track He Has Ever Made

One of the most respected and prolific Atlanta-based rappers in the game, Jeezy, sat down with Rap Radar for an extensive interview. The main reason was to discuss his new memoir “Adversity For Sale: You Gotta Believe” but many topics were discussed. Furthermore, he has hits on hits with songs like, “Put On” featuring Kanye West, “Soul Survivor,” “Seen It All,” and many more.

Ultimately, he selected “Done It” which made it onto a mixtape and one of his most popular albums, The Recession. He explains the backstory of how this song landed on both efforts. “I put it on the mixtape Trappin’ Ain’t Dead. And I went to Detroit one day, and some type of way my DJ played that s**t — and man, it was unfucking real!” He continues, “I was like, ‘Yo, could we put on the album?’” And that’s how it got on to [streaming].”  Another complication for why it did not originally appear on The Recession was the song he sampled by Hall & Oats had gone through a lot to get cleared for use.

Nelly Sells Half His Music Catalog For $50 Million

Artists selling their entire musical catalogs are becoming increasingly common. Some artists in particular have netted absolutely massive paydays for their musical works. Just yesterday, NLE Choppa speculated that he could sell his entire catalog for $1 billion, a figure that many fans contested. Now a new sale puts that number into perspective. According to TMZ, Nelly has sold a 50% share of his musical catalog for $50 million. His discography includes 8 albums, 6 of which debuted in the top 10 and three of which hit number 1 on the Billboard 200.

Nelly’s collection also includes four number-one songs. His first number-one hit “Hot In Herre” has been certified 2x Platinum. His discography also includes 6 other top 10 singles, the most recent of which is “Just A Dream” which peaked at number 3 back in 2010. The sale is being facilitated by a company called HarbourView Equity Partners. Many artists like Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson have sold their catalogs in the past. This enables their songs to be licensed out for things like commercials.

Nelly Gets $50 Million For His Music

This sale comes right on the heels of Nelly’s debut album Country Grammar turning 23. Three of the album’s singles made it to the top 15 of the Hot 100 and two of them even made it to the Top 10. The song “Ride Wit Me” featuring City Spud peaked at number 3 and was one of Nelly’s earliest smash hits. The album and it’s follow-up Nellyville are still massive fan favorites.

A few weeks ago Nelly showed up at CNN’s Juneteenth celebration. While there he performed his classic hit “Dilemma” alongside Chloe Bailey. Some viewers of the performance thought that Chole was over-singing and wished the track’s original performer Kelly Rowland had been there instead. Nelly’s newest album Heartland dropped in 2021 and saw him embracing his country music side. He’s promised a sequel to the album is coming on multiple occasions. What do you think of Nelly selling half the rights to his music for $50 Million? Let us know in the comment section below.

Logic Sells His Entire Music Catalog For Eight Figures

Influence Media Partners have bought the publishing rights to Logic’s entire musical catalog, according to a press release. The Grammy-nominated artist has eight studio albums and eight mixtapes under his belt from the last 15 years. The catalog totals 185 songs, and now Influence is in control of the publishing rights in exchange for an eight-figure payout. This is not new territory for Logic, as the rapper has previously announced potentially retiring from the music industry for various reasons. And while he hasn’t called it quits, this is a step he’s taking so his music continues to leave a legacy.

“It’s important to me that the positive messages of my music continue to reach new audiences,” Logic said when talking about the deal. “I’m excited to partner with Rene and the Influence Media Partners team to make a further impact through creativity.” A big proponent of positivity, Logic recently partnered with BetterHelp, the nonprofit organization, to help get Logic fans free therapy if they’re in need. He’s also about to go on tour for his eighth studio album, College Park, with Juicy J in tow as a special guest.

You might think you know how prolific Logic has been over the years. But in reading the list of songs he just sold, it really is eye-popping the number of certified bangers the rapper put out into the world. The catalog includes “1-800-273-8255,” his therapy-positive anthem with Alessia Cara and Khalid, which went multi-Platinum. There’s also “EVERYDAY” featuring Marshmello and “HOMICIDE” featuring Eminem. For the fans of his earlier stuff, the catalog has “Fade Away” and “Stainless” from 2015’s The Incredible True Story and “Gang Related” and “Alright” from 2014’s Under Pressure.

With a tour, a new collaboration with Better Help, and more verses swirling around in his head, Logic is far from done with putting out content. In the last few years, he’s released his first novel, a memoir about his childhood, and plenty of social media content for the fans to get hyped about. No matter which way he goes at this point, best believe we’ll be stoked for anything the rapper decides to create.

Justin Bieber’s Music Catalog Sells For Over $200 Million

In the years since he first rose to fame as a young boy singing covers on YouTube, Justin Bieber has gifted his fans with an expansive listening library. It all began in 2009 with his My World EP. Afterward, the Canadian creative satisfied the masses with releases like Journals, Believe, and most recently, Justice.

In recent months, there have been talks of the 28-year-old signing a huge deal. This would include handing his music catalog off to another entity. Last month, rumours said the singer could potentially earn $200M if both parties agree.

On Tuesday (January 24), Variety shared that Bieber actually made slightly upwards of the aforementioned price in his contract with Hipgnosis Songs Capital. Over 290 titles were a part of the deal, all of them released prior to December 31, 2023. At this time, his songs will continue to be administered by Universal Music, and UMG will own his master recordings.

Scooter Braun, the “One Time” hitmaker’s longtime manager gave a statement on the massive transaction. “I want to thank Merck and his entire Hipgnosis team and all of our partners involved for working so hard to make this historic deal happen. When Justin made the decision to make a catalog deal, we quickly found the best partner to preserve and grow this amazing legacy was Merck and Hipgnosis.”

“For 15 years I have been grateful to witness this journey and today I am happy for all those involved. Justin’s greatness is just beginning,” he continued.

Things on Bieber’s front have been relatively quiet as of late. Fans were concerned when he once again postponed the final dates of his Justice tour. It was previously scheduled to launch in 2020, and still hasn’t been finished by 2023.

Initially, the Drew founder was faced with delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eventually, he began rescheduling due to a battle with Ramsay Hunt syndrome which left his face paralyzed.

Bieber’s catalog deal is certainly a major bragging right, but he’s not the only artist making major money moves lately. Before launching her OnlyFans page and bringing in serious cash there, Iggy Azalea also sold her collection of songs in an impressive eight-figure deal.
