Diddy Gave Artists Publishing Rights In Exchange For Silence, Aubrey O’Day Alleges

Aubrey O’Day has been a vocal critic of Diddy for years now, and in a recent interview, she made even more shocking allegations against the mogul. The interview was conducted for TMZ‘s new documentary, The Downfall of Diddy, which is set to premiere on Tubi today (April 28). During her conversation with the outlet, the Danity Kane performer discussed Diddy giving all of his artists rights to their old music. According to her, she speculated that something was suspicious back in September when it happened, and is glad she didn’t agree.

Allegedly, Diddy had artists sign NDAs as part of the deal, preventing them from speaking out about their experiences at Bad Boy Records. Moreover, O’Day claims that the amount she’d get in exchange for not sharing her story was wildly low, just a few cents over $300. Nowadays, considering all of the legal trouble he’s dealing with, she’s surely more grateful than ever that she turned it down.

Aubrey O’Day Discusses Diddy In New TMZ Doc

Aubrey O’Day has been raising red flags when it comes to Puff for a long time now, and claims that she has a lot of alleged dirt on the mogul. After her ex Donald Trump Jr. discussed Diddy during his interview with DJ Akademiks, she was sure to remind her followers of that on Twitter/X. Trump Jr. alleged that an ex-partner of his told him Kim Porter was afraid of Diddy before her death.

“Just to be clear.. my long term EX @DonaldJTrumpJr went on @Akademiks to discuss my EX boss diddy & the conspiracies behind Kim Porter’s death,” she wrote. “I keep telling you all.. I am in the CENTER of REALLY knowing ALL the information, and ALWAYS have been. […] The EXpose hasn’t even STARTED.” What do you think of Aubrey O’Day accusing Diddy of offering artists publishing rights in exchange for silence? Are you looking forward to hearing what else she has to say in TMZ‘s doc, The Downfall of Diddy? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Former Bad Boy Group B5 Demand Publishing Rights From Diddy

B5, an R&B group that released two albums as artists under Diddy at Bad Boy Records, is demanding their publishing rights back. They revealed that they haven’t heard from Diddy despite his offer to give other artists like Mase, The Notorious B.I.G., and The LOX, among others their rights back. They discussed the situation during an appearance on the We In Miami podcast.

The group explained that they “didn’t hear anything, we didn’t get no calls [or] nothing like that, from that.” They added: “Puff — Diddy, yeah, we all want our publishing too.” The crew continued: “We were so young at the time; we didn’t understand the business of it. But, you know, now looking back, it’s like, ‘Damn, why our names wasn’t on the credits?… Where the percentages at? Where the [publishing] at?” They also remarked that they left the label due to “not seeing eye to eye.”

Even artists who have gotten their rights back from Diddy have complained about the Bad Boy boss. Mark Curry, who featured on the 2001 hit, “Bad Boy For Life,” remarked that his rights are worthless this late.  “What’s it worth now? He gave me mine back a long time ago … That’s disrespectful — I said why don’t you just keep it and pay me? I don’t want the publishing; I want the money,” he said on Instagram.

He continued: “Diddy gave the publishing back. So what? It has no value… I want him to give me a million cash and then I can plan the rest of my life out well. Ever had somebody owe you $50… when you needed it back… they didn’t pay you… then by the time they do pay you… the $50 doesn’t mean the same as it did when you needed it?” Be on the lookout for further updates on further updates on B5 and Diddy on HotNewHipHop.

Hit-Boy Selling A Share Of “UTOPIA” Song Publishing On Ebay

The business of the music industry can be very complicated and when it comes to artists getting their cut there can often be tension. Between labels, songwriters, producers, and the artists themselves it can often be very complicated finding out what money someone has made or is owed. That’s why it surprised fans when Hit-Boy listed his 5% share in the publishing rights to Travis Scott and Beyonce’s “DELRESTO” on eBay earlier this week.

The listing offers “5% Publishing Share of “DELRESTO” ft. Beyonce Off Of Travis Scott’s UTOPIA.” It elaborates further in the description of the listing. “Hit-Boy is offering to sell his 5% publishing split on Travis Scott’s song ft. Beyonce “DELRESTO (ECHOES)” on his latest album UTOPIA. included in the purchase is his AKAI 61 key MIDI keyboard that he created the song on.” Fans discussing the post online are divided. “This is actually insanely worth it” reads the top comment on a repost of the listing. Others are less convinced. “Either this is a scam or homie need some money asap or he ain’t getting much out of those 5%,” another comment reads. Check out the listing below.

Hit-Boy Listing Publishing Rights On eBay

Despite the post listing a Travis Scott song that Hit-Boy worked on, recently he’s been much more directly tied to Nas. The pair have dropped two new albums in 2023 alone Magic 2 and Magic 3. They served as the culmination of an extremely prolific period for the pair dating back to 2020. Together they released three albums in the Magic series and three albums in the King’s Disease series.

Hit-Boy is also reportedly working pretty extensively on the new Benny The Butcher album. In fact, when the album’s announced release date arrived Hit-Boy was the one to officially confirm it was delayed indefinitely. What do you think of Hit-Boy selling the publishing rights to a song he produced on eBay? Let us know in the comment section below.

Diddy Thinks LeBron James Is The Best Singer In The NBA

LeBron James has been the subject of plenty of NBA debate. For years he’s been considered the best player in the league, though whether or not that’s still true has been up for more debate in recent years. He’s also part of the greatest of all-time debate where fans compare his two decades of dominance to shorter runs from players like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. But one thing that basketball fans probably haven’t spent much time debating is which NBA player has the best voice.

Thankfully, Diddy is here to settle the debate. LeBron often takes to his Instagram story to shout out songs he’s enjoying and he did so again earlier this week. He posted himself singing along to “Pick Up.” The track comes from Diddy’s newly released album and features contributions from Fabolous and Jacquees. The video caught the attention of the rapper himself who reposted it to his Instagram with a caption praising James’ singing voice. “Nah, my brother @KingJames got the best voice in the NBA! LOVE LOVE!! LOVE,” he captioned the video. Check out the clip below.

Diddy Says Lebron Has “The Best Voice In The NBA”

Diddy just released his absolutely feature packed new album The Love Album: Off The Grid. The project included features from The-Dream, Busta Rhymes, Swae Lee, Summer Walker, Jazmine Sullivan, Kehlani, Ty Dolla $ign, John Legend, and MANY more. Tracks like “Another One On Me” with The Weeknd, 21 Savage, and French Montana, and “Moments” with Justin Bieber have already begun racking up hundreds of thousands of streams since the album was released.

Diddy has also recently been undergoing the process of returning publishing rights back to many of his Bad Boys artists. Some of the rappers involved are calling the move an empty gesture and claiming he waited until it was nearly worthless to return the rights. What do you think of Diddy’s claim that LeBron James has the best voice in the NBA? Let us know in the comment section below.

Diddy Explains The Reassigning Rights Process Has Been Ongoing For Years

Over the weekend Diddy released his new album The Love Album: Off The Grid. He’s been teasing the project for weeks and it features a stacked collection of collaborators. The-Dream, Busta Rhymes, Swae Lee, Summer Walker, The Weeknd, 21 Savage, Justin Bieber, Jazmine Sullivan, Ty Dolla $ign, Kehlani, Mary J. Blige, John Legend, and many more appear on the album. The Weeknd’s appearance in particular drew plenty of attention as he announced earlier this year that it was his final ever feature. He appears on the track “Another One Of Me” alongside French Montana and 21 Savage. Savage and The Weeknd have proven a strong pairing after their collaboration with Metro Boomin “Creepin’” became a big hit earlier this year.

Alongside the release of the album, Diddy sat down on The Breakfast Club to discuss a variety of issues. One of those is the process of reassigning publishing rights back to some of his artists. A few weeks ago it was made public that artists like The LOX, Ma$e, The Notorious B.I.G, and more were having the publishing rights to their music given back to themselves or their estates. In the interview, Diddy explains that criticizing the Grammys was what made him first realize that he needed to begin the process of reassigning rights. “I had to look from within,” he explains. Check out the full interview below.

Diddy Explains Reassigning Publishing Rights

In the interview, Diddy explains that he felt giving back publishing rights was “the right thing to do.” He also claims that the actual process itself began two years ago. He says that he signed the papers himself a while ago and everything since then has been legal processes.

Not everybody is impressed by this gesture though. One of Diddy’s former artists Mark Curry found the move to be mostly performative. He pointed out that the publishing rights had very little value now and that the gesture was somewhat meaningless. What do you think about Diddy’s more detailed explanation of the reassigning process? Let us know in the comment section below.

Bad Boy Artist Mark Curry Isn’t Impressed By Diddy Signing Over Publishing Rights

Earlier this week, it was announced that Diddy was giving publishing rights back to many of the artists on his Bad Boys label. The LOX, Ma$e, Faith Evans, 112, and the estate of The Notorious B.I.G. are all expected to have the publishing rights to their music returned to them. The announcement was foreshadowed by Ma$e’s podcast co-host Cam’ron who broke the news on Instagram that Ma$e would be getting his rights back.

As it turns out, not every rapper involved is happy with the arrangement. One of the label’s former artists Mark Curry, is calling the move an empty gesture. He posted a video to Instagram reacting to the move. In the video, he claims that Diddy held onto the rights for as long as they had value and then signed them over after. “That’s disrespectful. I said why don’t you just keep it and pay me? I don’t want the publishing; I want the money,” he said in the video. He elaborated in the caption. “Diddy gave the publishing back.:. So what.. it has no value… I want him to give me a million cash and then I can plan the rest of my life out well,” it reads. Check out the full post below.

Mark Curry Calls Out Diddy For Rights Move

While some of Diddy’s own artists may be dissolution with him, he still receives plenty of industry love. It was just announced this week that he would be honored with the Global Icon award at next week’s MTV VMAs. The award will be accompanied by a performance from the rap legend.

That appearance comes at a good time as Diddy just announced his feature-packed new album. The project will contain the final ever feature from The Weeknd alongside a number of other impressive collaborations. It’s also scheduled to be released just a few days after the award ceremony. What do you think of Mark Curry’s criticisms of Diddy? Let us know in the comment section below.

Diddy Reassigning Publishing Rights Back To The LOX, Ma$e, And More

Diddy is one of the most noteworthy executives in hip-hop history. In fact, just last month when Variety made their list of the best executives in the genre’s illustrious history his name was right there among the very top. But that has also led to some battles both publicly and through the courts for the rights to various songs that he owns, even if he wasn’t involved in the writing and recording of the songs. Now, he’s moving those publishing rights back to some of the artists who made the songs.

According to Billboard, Diddy is in the process of reassigning his Bad Boys publishing rights back to the artists and songwriters who created the songs in the first place. Included in the list of artists expected to get their rights back are The LOX, Ma$e, Faith Evans, 112, and the estate of The Notorious B.I.G. The news about Ma$e first broke a few days ago when his podcast co-host Cam’ron posted about it on Instagram. “My n*gga murder had to sit this one out. He just got his publishing back from Puff. Just finished the paperwork for that yesterday. Congrats @rsvpmase,” he said in an Instagram post. Check out the full article below.

But the biggest news was the inclusion of The Weeknd, on what he has promised will be his final feature ever. The album is slated for release later this month on September 15.

Diddy also popped up on a new album released last month. He teamed up with Giggs on the hard-hitting single “Mandem.” The track eventually landed on Giggs new album Zero Tolerance. What do you think of Diddy giving back publishing rights to the original performers and songwriters? Let us know in the comment section below.

Lil Bibby Denies Selling Juice WRLD’s Catalog

Lil Bibby and Juice WRLD fans have a strange relationship. Juice signed to the fellow Chicago native’s label Grade A Productions back in 2017. Under that contract, Juice put out two studio albums before his tragic death in December 2019. Since then, two posthumous Juice records have been released. These include Legends Never Die and Fighting Demons. Additionally, a third one reportedly titled The Party Never Ends should arrive soon.

In the years after Juice’s death, however, his fans have not been fond of how Bibby and Juice’s camp have operated regarding posthumous releases. Along with The Party Never Ends being hit with multiple delays due to leaks, Juice’s cousin Millz had some harsh words for Juice’s ex-girlfriend Ally Lotti, saying she was “controlling and manipulating” him while he was alive. It’s safe to say that those who love Juice need to see a well-executed release of his next project.

Lil Bibby Hasn’t Sold

Among all this dysfunction, reports from Billboard on Feb. 3 claimed that Bibby, Grade A and Juice’s estate had sold most of Juice’s publishing rights to Opus Music Group. They represent reggateon artists like Maluma and Rauw Alejandro. However, on Feb. 6, Bibby took to Twitter to deny these claims. He tweeted: “We sold nothing…” Bibby has not elaborated on this, which makes it hard to believe that Billboard’s reports would be inaccurate. A spokesperson for Opus gave a statement to Billboard at the time the story broke that emphasized how impactful the deal is. “To represent the body of work of Juice Wrld – whose cultural significance and generational influence can’t be overstated – is an honor and a responsibility,” they said.

One day after the Billboard report, Bibby posted on Instagram that “the last Juice WRLD album is in the works,” which could certainly validate Bibby’s claims that he is still in control of Juice’s music. The Party Never Ends will be the first full-length Juice WRLD release since December 2021. It will likely serve as the final official release for the slain rapper. Surely more clarity from Bibby will come regarding who owns his publishing rights. Stay tuned to HNHH for more updates on this developing story.

Juice WRLD Estate Sells His Catalog

Juice WRLD’s estate reportedly sold most of his catalog in a nine-figure deal, carried out quietly in early 2022. According to Billboard, independent music publisher and record label Opus Music Group now owns much of the late rapper’s material. Moreover, it includes 90% of his publishing rights, as well as the rights to 90% of his master recordings’ income. Not only did it include Juice WRLD’s released discography, but also hundreds of tracks that never saw the light of day. Juice released two albums, two posthumous albums, a collab tape with Future, a solo mixtape, and nine EPs.

Furthermore, his label partners Interscope and Lil Bibby’s Grade A Productions kept their ownership of the “Lucid Dreams” star’s masters. Still, this deal raised eyebrows because of the secrecy surrounding its execution, as these reports just surfaced. However, the company that bought most of the publishing and income rights is apparently a fresh face in the industry. According to their website, Opus only represents two other artists. Moreover, these are pop and reggaetón stars Maluma from Colombia and Rauw Alejandro from Puerto Rico. Although they didn’t directly address the sale, they did speak to Billboard about the late artist in a statement. “To represent the body of work of Juice Wrld – whose cultural significance and generational influence can’t be overstated – is an honor and a responsibility,” they shared.

Meanwhile, this news comes months after Juice’s cousin criticized his ex-girlfriend and record label for allegedly “controlling” and “manipulating” the late rapper. While he didn’t specify which label, Juice signed to Lil Bibby’s imprint. Moreover, him and Interscope Records signed him in 2017 for $3 million. Regardless, Bibby organized the latest Juice WRLD Fest. It included performances form Trippie Redd, Ski Mask the Slump God, Lil Tecca, G Herbo, and more.

Still, the late rapper’s legacy continues to live on and endure in the ears and hearts of millions. For example, he became the first artist to have four albums sell 500,000 copies each in a year, specifically 2022. Moreover, all four of his albums in his entire discography continued to dominate the charts. Let us know what you think of this sale in the comments and come back to HNHH for the latest on Juice WRLD.

These include Migos’ breakout hit “Versace,” Travis Scott’s “3500,” 21 Savage’s “Famous,” Lil Wayne’s “Problems,” and a slew of other hits. Gucci Mane, Migos, Future – he’s been right there with these artists from the beginning in 2004 right up to the present day. I’m proud to announce that after working with him since 2007 we continue to be focused on future success.”

Moreover, this news comes just weeks after the 43-year-old launched his record label ZTP with music executive Big Trill. Moreover, he announced the label’s inception with a query searching for new talent to add to the roster.

“We are Blessed to announce that ‘ZTP’ The Label is official,” the producer posted via Instagram. “Me and @therealbigtrill are officially a label. We are SIGNING artist, producers, song writers, DJs, all brands. we are looking for a real team a solid team. Searching for all talent in every city, every state, every town!!!! Let’s get to work.”
