Michael Jackson and Beyoncé both have something very important in common—they are both Virgos. Essentially that means they are hard-working perfectionist that stand for nothing less. This past weekend, the Queen Bee herself Mrs. Carter got visibly upset at her Renaissance Tour stage crew during her show in Amsterdam.

Beyonce’s glitter ball horse usually elevates during this part of the show but this time it didn’t. Missy Elliott has broken barriers in music and now the legendary artist is opening up about her personal struggles with mental health.
In an interview with Essence Magazine, she discussed her battle with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder, which led her to realize that it’s okay not to be strong and composed all the time.

“Now I’m fine with being like, ‘Hey, I got anxiety’ or ’I went through depression,’” Elliott, 51, told the outlet.

“Now I’m fine with being like, ‘Hey, I got anxiety’ or ‘I went through depression,’” shared the 51-year-old artist. “Even the biggest artist, or just the regular everyday working person, we all go through s—. We all do. And it’s OK to say, ‘Hey, I’m not OK today.’”

“Probably we would keep a lot of people around if we were that open, because we would be able to uplift each other. We’d know that I’m not going to look at you crazy if you say, ‘Hey, I’m having a rough day.’ Maybe you’re thinking things that you shouldn’t think, or whatever the case may be,” she added.

In addition to discussing her present mental health Elliott, reflected on her childhood anxiety.

“I think that a lot of things were brushed up under the rug for me growing up, and probably also for a lot of people,” she said, adding of the pandemic: “I had so much time to just think of childhood stuff, and all kinds of stuff.”

Boosie Granted Bond In Federal Gun Case

boosie bad

Several sources have confirmed that Baton Rouge native and rap favorite Boosie Badazz has been granted bond for the federal gun charge he was arrested for last week.

Boosie, whose real name is Torrance Hatch Jr., was taken into custody by federal agents this past week following his court appearance for an illegal weapons possession charge in San Diego, California last month.

Unsealed court documents have revealed that the federal arrest actually stemmed from the May 6 arrest in San Diego when authorities in San Diego saw Boosie on IG Live associating with a well known member of the Crips in the local area.

The law enforcement agency that observed Boosie online saw a gun in his waistband and used an “Airborne Law Enforcement Unit” to find him. When police pulled over the SUV, they found the firearm that matched the one found on his waist in the video.

After the case was dismissed in San Diego, Boosie was arrested by ATF last week for being a felon in possession of a weapon. Boosie was tagged with a felony back in 20011 when he was convicted of bringing illegal contraband into a penal institution, criminal conspiracy to incite a felony, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

He added, “LONG LIVE JAH HAPPY IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT RN I COULD CRY!”

On the fifth anniversary of his death, the XXXTENTACION estate releases a new single by the rapper. The new release is called “I’m Not Human.”

The single features vocals from Lil Uzi Vert and production credits from collaborator John Cunningham, who penned details about the single.

“When I was living with Jah in Florida in 2018 we would spend most days in his room, me playing guitar and him singing,” Cunningham wrote. “The day he first sang ‘I’m not human’ as I was playing that guitar part we both looked at each other and cracked a smile, knowing it was special. We listened back to the voice memo he recorded and talked about finishing it.”

You can hear the single below.

Last month three of the four men convicted of cowardly murdering rapper XXXTentacion were sentenced to life in prison after a grueling trial.
Now the fourth man who testified against his three friends, will spend just two years in prison.

The AP reports:

A Florida man who testified against three former friends who murdered rising rap star XXXTentacion during a robbery five years ago will spend the next two years in prison, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Circuit Judge Michael Usan sentenced Robert Allen to seven years in prison, with credit for the five years he has already spent at the Broward County jail. He will then spend 20 years on probation. He could have received a life sentence.

Allen, 27, pleaded guilty last year to second-degree murder and testified earlier this year against Michael Boatwright, 27, Dedrick Williams, 27, and Trayvon Newsome, 25. They were convicted of first-degree murder in March and sentenced to life in prison.

During the month long trial, prosecutors linked Allen, Boatwright, Williams and Newsome to the June 18, 2018, shooting outside Riva Motorsports in suburban Fort Lauderdale through extensive surveillance video taken inside and outside the store. They stole $50,000 and made cellphone videos hours after the shooting showing them flashing fistfuls of $100 bills.

Today In Hip Hop History: Mobb Deep’s Prodigy Died 6 Years Ago

prodigy

Born November 2, 1974, Albert Johnson, better known as Prodigy of Mobb Deep, was not only a rapper; But an author and an entrepreneur. Today, we recognize not only the day he passed and transitioned, but we celebrate the life and career of one of Hip Hop’s most gifted talents, and for sure one of the most recognizable voices of the genre.

Who can forget the 1995 Sophomore Album “The Infamous”? Which featured one of the illest tracks in Hip Hop History; “Shook One’s”. It’s safe to say that it was this album that catapulted not only Prodigy to superstardom, but his group mate Havoc as well. Cementing them as one of the top dips in the history of the genre.

There are so many noteworthy songs to choose from as we honor the life of Prodigy. From “Shook One’s”(Pt2) to Survival OF The Fittest. From the “I Shot Ya” Remix feat L.L. Cool J feat. Keith Murray, Prodigy, Fat Joe and Foxy Brown, to my personal favorite “Eye For An Eye”(Your Beef Is Mines) feat Nas and Raekwon.

“When I said, “I’m only 19, but my mind is old”- at that time, when I said that line, I was 18” – Prodigy

The legendary lyricist ran into a few legal snags that ultimately led to Prodigy becoming more aware of the imbalance in our justice system. In March of 2011, Prodigy was released from Mid-State Correctional Facility, in Marcy, NY after serving three years on a criminal charge for weapons possession. A term where he saw 6 months shaved off his sentence for Good Behavior.

“You have people there from all walks of life: people who made mistakes and have to deal with the consequences, mothers and fathers. You wouldn’t expect them to be behind bars.”

Prodigy often spoke of issue of injustice and the shattered relationship between African Americans and the police department’s hired to work our communities. But it was his stance on prison life that had to be his strongest due to existing health issues.

“I couldn’t afford to get sick in prison. My sickle cell is no joke, so I couldn’t eat poorly or not exercise. And everything in jail is designed to do the exact opposite”

Prodigy was not only an elite rapper. But a reputable author as well. The Queens, NY native published several books during his career. Including, My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deeps Prodigy, in 2012. Other titles include – H.N.I.C: An Infamous Novella (2013) as well as a publication that surprised fans for sure; The 2016 publication, Commissary Kitchen: My Infamous Prison Cookbook.

In an interview with Vibe Magazine in November 2000, Prodigy spoke about what inspired him to directly address his life long battle with sickle-cell anemia on the song “You Can Never Feel My Pain”. Which was featured on H.N.I.C.

In a statement, Prodigy gave fans insight to his disease and what he intended on doing to spread awareness. “I have a deadly disease called Sickle Cell Anemia that I was born with that affects millions of others – primarily in the Black and Latino cultures. I feel I can inspire others with this Sickle Cell disease to be strong and believe in themselves”

Unfortunately on the morning of June 20th, 2017, Prodigy was found unresponsive by medical staff after being admitted to Spring Valley Medical Center.  He was transported to the facility after suffering a significant medical episode occurring from his life-long battle with sickle-cell anemia. It was documented that the rapper passed from “accidental choking”.

Whether it was through his published work as an author, speaking publicly on health and issues facing the black community, or simply blessing us with his rugged tone on painful tracks; Prodigy will undoubtedly live on as one of our generations leading voices on wax. A voice that will inspire many for years and decades to come.

R. Kelly's Lawyer

Audio from prison has R. Kelly referencing the harsh conditions of his prison. In the audio, Kelly stated he deserves to die of natural causes. The singer is reportedly battling blood clots in his legs.

“I don’t deserve to die because somebody miscommunicated or somebody took a guess at what’s going on with my leg. I’m not supposed to die this way,” R. Kelly said. “You’re not even supposed to take a chance on that.”

He added, “And that’s why I’m speaking out on this because I’m scared for my life in that area. And who wouldn’t be? They treat animals better than that.”

One of R. Kelly’s victims, Faith Rodgers, who accused the singer of failing to disclose a sexually transmitted disease before sleeping with her, is demanding the jailed singer turn over medical information. Back in 2018, Rodgers sued the convicted singer in New York court. In her lawsuit, Rodgers said she met Kelly in 2017 after one of his shows in Texas. She was 19-years old at the time.

According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Rogers, who sued Kelly in 2018, asked a judge to help her obtain the information.

The victim wants Kelly to answer questions under oath about the date they met and how often they engaged in sexual relations. Further, she wants him to turn over a list of any financial institutions he has accounts in.

Rodgers also wants him to make a list of all credit cards he used from 2017 to 2019. The victim’s list of demands asks Kelly to state all the names of any medical professionals he used, state each and every hospital or clinic that he was a patient of from January 2017 to January 2019.

Further, she asked Kelly to admit he failed to tell her about his STD before having sex with her and that he forced her to engage in sexual acts without her consent.

Screen Shot 2023 06 20 at 2.12.48 AM

North Myrtle Beach Police Officer Kayla Wallace is being acknowledged for rescuing a woman from a shooting suspect during a routine traffic stop.

On May 28, Officer Wallace was on patrol in North Myrtle Beach when she witnessed a white Jeep running a red light at an intersection. Recognizing the violation, she promptly pulled over the vehicle to address the traffic infraction. However, as she approached the car, Officer Wallace noticed the male passenger was distressed, raising her suspicions, while the female driver silently and repeatedly mouthed the words “Help me.”

According to the Myrtle Beach Police Department, Officer Wallace observed the driver’s message and removed the passenger from the vehicle, placing him in the back seat of her patrol car.

Wallace then went back to the suspect’s vehicle and spoke to the female driver, who frantically advised that the passenger had just shot someone.

While waiting for backup to arrive, Officer Wallace engaged the occupants of the vehicle in conversation, attempting to gather more information discreetly. This approach was critical in maintaining a calm environment, minimizing the risk of escalating the situation or endangering the woman further.

“Due to Officer Wallace proactively patrolling the streets of North Myrtle Beach, even to the last 30 minutes of her shift, a suspect in a shooting was arrested and an unlawfully carried pistol was recovered underneath the suspect’s seat,” Myrtle Beach Police posted in a tribute to Wallace on Facebook.

The courage displayed by the woman, silently mouthing for help in such a dire situation, allowed law enforcement to intervene promptly, potentially preventing a tragic outcome.

According to a report from USA TODAY, 29-year-old Collins Bates has been arrested and is currently detained. He is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. These charges are in connection with a shooting incident.
