Jeezy has released an official statement, breaking his silence on his divorce from Jeannie Mai. The statement comes after Mai has appeared on public platforms. The statement is available below:

“The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart. Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart. Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves. During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing.”

Jeannie Mai appeared on Sherri Shepherd’s Sherri Show and publicly commented on her ongoing divorce from Jeezy.

“It takes daily to sit and be quiet in your thoughts,” Mai said. “You give God your pain and he will give you his power. Just taking it day by day.”

She added, “And turning off everything really helps. I tuned into the voices that I needed to hear, that’s me and the truth.”

Last week, Jeannie Mai made a statement on Instagram, writing: “Sometimes, you need to take a break and disconnect. To Heal.”

Jeezy and Jeannie Mai still live together, despite the rapper and entrepreneur filing for divorce from the reality star.

According to TMZ, the household may be a bit awkward as the two don’t specifically interact and only cross paths in transition in and out the house. Both parties are maintaining that their priority is their one-year-old daughter, Monaco.

Jeezy and Jeannie Mai’s seemingly sudden divorce now has additional detail. The split between the two celebrities is reportedly due to “certain family values and differences.”

According to Entertainment Tonight, an insider stated, “They had different views, and each felt like their needs weren’t being completely met.” Jeezy filed for divorce last week, citing their marriage is “irretrievably broken” in the court documents.

The filing was placed in the Fulton County Superior Court, and the two have already separated. There is a prenuptial agreement in place.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Jeezy is seeking joint custody of their daughter.

D Smoke Brings Out His Brother SiR During Birthday Show In Inglewood

D Smoke Brings Out His Brother SiR During Birthday Show In Inglewood

D Smoke wears Inglewood on his sleeve through and through, and we love to see it! You may recognize the name from his time winning Netflix’ Rhythm & Flow, or maybe you saw his standout collaboration with Snoop Dogg on “Gaspar Yanga.” Either way, D Smoke’s contributions to the genre of Hip-Hop as a whole do not go unnoticed.

On Tuesday, October 17th, the teacher-turned-rapper not only celebrated his birthday, but performed a hometown show at Miracle Theater on Market Street in Inglewood. This was a beautifully executed night of musicality, backed by a live band including a drummer, a pianist, a flute, sax and trombone player, backup singers, and guitarist.

With D Smoke’s deep roots in Los Angeles, it was only right to call on the homies to pull up! Surprise guests included Compton’s own Buddy, who performed his popular hit “Black,” and Dreamville’s own Cozz who performed “Cry.” D Smoke also brought out his brother Davion Farris to perform “Fly,” a certified fan favorite.

Soon, it became a family affair, as D Smoke brings out his other brother SiR to perform their collaborative single “Work Hard Play Hard.” The song’s official music video was released just one month ago.

SiR went on to provide all the R&B vibes, singing “The Recipe” before serenading D Smoke with a Happy Birthday song. The show also ended with a beautiful cake that was presented to D Smoke on stage.

What Type of Dogs Are We Talking About in Drake’s Latest Album?

for all the dogs Google Search

When you’re the biggest artist in the world, aka Drake, it’s a huge deal anytime you drop music. Not only are you one of the biggest streaming artists in the world, but your fanbase is accustomed to timeless hits — which means the bar is set high. But For All The Dogs is less about the homies and either about dog men or Drake’s new favorite word for women he comes across.

For All The Dogs serves as Drake’s eighth studio album. The hype escalated when Drizzy pushed the release date back a few weeks, from September 22nd to October 6th. Not to mention the 6 God promised fans he’d be returning to the “old Drake,” which we’re having difficulty pinpointing exactly where. This album feels like Drake has hit a level of either stagnation due to immediate success by whatever he drops, or there is no more challengers in the arena to force him to find an internal fire.

With the standout features on the project — 21 Savage, J. Cole, Yeat, SZA, PartyNextDoor, Chief Keef, Bad Bunny, Sexyy Red, and Lil Yachty — FATD should be a sure contender for success. But after the first few spins… you’re wondering where the substance is. When you’re Drake, you can have whatever you want at your fingertips. But Drake’s ascent to the top of the rap game used to inspire, motivate, and empower others to go out there and get after their wildest dreams.

For All The Dogs is certainly not that. The opening song, “Virginia Beach,” seems to be yet another emo Drake serenading his woes about a past relationship. Let’s be real: Drake can get any woman he wants, and his bars about drugs are getting played out.

Of course, we all love the camaraderie between Drake and 21 Savage. Case in point: “Rich Flex,” “Jimmy Cooks,” “Mr. Right Now” by Metro Boomin. But the skit at the end of “Calling For You” was particularly off-putting. A girl complaining about sitting in the economy instead of first class. NEXT!

By now, you have seen the calls against misogyny across the album, and it’s within reason. The toxic masculinity throughout For All The Dogs laps Future on his most sick days. Ironically, “What Would Pluto Do” is a prime example where Drake evokes the spirit of his What A Time To Be Alive friend, but it’s cringe as he attempts to tell the story of popping some Cialis in the drink of his lady for the night. In case you got lost in the single, the bars are pulled below:

Wigglin’ back into my old ways, ayy
Bunch of sedatives, hypnotics in my system, okay
Life is goin’ just how I predicted, okay
Droppin’ two Cialis in her liquid, okay

– Drake “What Would Pluto Do”

If that isn’t cringing enough, the countless runs of calling women a “bitch” throughout the album echo an inner issue that may need to be addressed.

That was song #3, which means there are 20 more tracks to go. One look at the tracklist, and you might be excited for that Sexyy Red and SZA feature on “Rich Baby Daddy.” Even this record was tough to get through. There’s only so many times you can hear the words “ass” and “coochie,” and Drake rapping about being rich isn’t impressive.

Not to mention the lead single to the project, “Slime You Out” with SZA, could have been a beautiful record — had it only been SZA’s vocals. There’s also an interlude called “BBL Love.” We’d appreciate something a little more meaningful for an artist with Drake’s platform. Even if it was “for all the dogs,” can we bring back a certain level of classiness and respect?

And when all is fails, we lean on one of Hip-Hop’s greats: J. Cole. “First Person Shooter” might be the best song of the project. J. Cole rapped his ass off… only for Drake to come in after him to weep about girls.

Today in Hip Hop History: Eazy-E Released ‘It’s On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa’ 30 Years Ago

tumblr 607d88a7fd9650d11fdf9b04c0fd0867 809643b2 1280 1

On this day in Hip Hop history, Eazy-E releases his second solo EP It’s On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa. Released one year after his first EP and a long five years after his debut album Eazy-Duz-It, this album was a response to Dr. Dre’s prolific debut The Chronic. Tensions became high between the two NWA heavyweights and after the group’s 1991 split, the beef became public.

The West Coast was in a state of civil war. After NWA’s explosive breakup, its ex-members spared no time to air out their grievances on every other record they released. With Ice Cube attacking the Ruthless Records infrastructure and Dr. Dre siding with the enemy (Suge Knight and Death Row) to bring down all Eazy had built, there was no choice but for Eazy-E to respond as he did. He used the bulk of this album to state his opinion on Dr. Dre and his street authenticity, with each of the eight tracks on the EP attacking Dre’s image, originality, past, and current status in the rap game.

Aside from the disrespect that served as the core of this project, Eazy-E truly flexed his musical muscles with every track. Whether the inspiration surged from his emotional reaction to what was going with his ex-bandmates or simply from him being a seasoned veteran of gangsta rap is uncertain. What can be seen and heard however is that Eazy-E ate his Wheaties before hopping on the microphone to lay down this EP. With this project, we hear Eazy more comfortable with his own flow and who knows exactly where his lane is and how to be the fastest in it. As his final completed work in life, it is a great depiction of his growth and maturity as an artist.

Commercially, the album was a success. Peaking at #5 on the Billboard 200 and claiming the #1 spot on the Top R&B/Hip Hop chart,  It’s On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa sold 110,600 copies in it’s first week and was certified double platinum in 1994.

“We won already,” Ross said. “We playing with what? The house’s money and it’s only one way to explain that or describe that. It’s too good to be true, which is the name of the project me and Meek Mill will be releasing.”

Ross revealed the album took him and Meek two and a half months to complete. Meek added, “When me and Rozay got in the studio, it was all about real energy, organic motivation. “I wasn’t healthy,” Meek said. I was drinking liquor every day. My stomach was bent over for a year and a half. I came home 2019, I couldn’t smoke weed or really drink liquor like that. And before 2019, I was off the lean and all that.

“I changed my lifestyle. Well I thought I changed, try to change over to the liquor every day. I’m being on tour afterparty. That kind of ruined up my stomach. So I had to sit down for a minute, let my shit build up. That was another human trial that we go through on the inside and they’re like, yo, when you dropping I’m telling my own family, yo, my stomach fucked up. Y’all, I weigh 170, bro. It’s on hit right now.”
