Mariah The Scientist faced a pretty difficult roadblock recently that we certainly don’t envy: love or duty? If you’re reading this from under a rock, you might not know that her boo Young Thug recently left prison after taking a plea deal in the YSL RICO case. The singer shared her heartfelt gratitude for this and for fans’ support during a recent tour stop, as she joined KARRAHBOOO as a supporting act for Latto’s Sugar Honey Iced Tea trek. But it seems like she chose love. Moreover, fans took to social media to debate after a clip emerged from a Cincinnati show on Friday (November 1) after Mariah canceled her appearance at it.

“Hey Cincinnati! Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mariah The Scientist will no longer be joining us for @Latto’s show at The Andrew J Brady Music Center® tonight,” the venue tweeted. “Don’t worry, Latto and Karrahbooo will still be there to bring you an unforgettable night…” Rather than showing up to perform, she called in via FaceTime, which was displayed on screen as fans sang her track “Spread Thin” to her.

Furthermore, it’s unclear if Mariah The Scientist will return to the tour soon (which ends on December 7) or if this is a permanent decision. Some fans completely understand why she would want to presumably take time off to be with Young Thug, whereas others pointed to her responsibility to respect ticket holders and fulfill her commitment. It’s definitely one of those situations that’s hard to make a judgement call on unless you face it yourself. After all, Thugger was in jail for a long time, so he waited as long as Mariah has. Despite their hardships, they look forward to spending this time together.

Young Thug Hops On Celebratory FaceTime Call With T.I. After Prison Release

T.I. is one of many hip-hop colleagues who celebrated the freedom of Young Thug, who recently took a plea deal in the YSL RICO case. He pleaded guilty to various counts in the indictment against him, save for a nolo or no contest plea for the RICO count and the gang leader count, which resulted in the judge commuting his five-year sentence to time served and releasing him from prison on 15 years of probation. The details are a bit more complex, but that’s the main idea. Recently, the two Atlanta rappers hopped on a FaceTime call, and Tip was with a large group of people who were very happy to see Thugger out and about.

“As far as Jeffery is feeling now, he knows my feelings, which I am not going to reveal for attorney-client privilege,” Young Thug’s attorney Brian Steel told reporters outside of the courthouse following his client’s sentencing. “But, this is not the same as a not guilty verdict. […] Nobody here wakes up every day on a concrete floor that they’re calling his bed, at 4:15. He gets shackled at his feet, his waist, and his hands, comes to the Fulton County courthouse to be on concrete, eating out of a bag, and then coming to the courthouse to sit there with a leg chain every single day, and hear lie after lie. So for Jeffery to go home today, and not have another 90 days, 120 days of [the trial], he is very happy.”

Fans were very happy with both Brian Steel’s diligence and the outcome of Young Thug’s trial. However, the YSL RICO case still has a few codefendants on trial for other charges, so the entire trial is still not completely over.

For example, Yak Gotti rejected a plea deal in his case, so some developments in the near future are still crucial to consider in the grand scheme. Regardless of how you feel about Young Thug’s release, everyone hopes that he complies with all his probation terms and turns this into a successful second chance to right any wrongs and craft a more positive and beneficial story in its wake.

The two respective superstars, and pop legend Madonna, all united for “Popular”. The 80s synth-pop/pop rap track was one of the first soundtrack cuts for Abel Tesfaye’s HBO exclusive TV show, The Idol. Sadly, the program turned out to be a major flop, but the single did not. For how cooky the track came across at its inception, it did a respectable job on the charts, peaking and debuting at 43 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In this case, it was more of a grower, as it is now certified platinum as of June 20, 2024. Furthermore, it also made its way onto the deluxe version of The Weeknd’s The Highlights compilation record. Finally, “Popular” sits at nearly 900 million streams, good enough for the fifth spot on his most popular on Spotify. Since the release of this single, it seems that The Weeknd and Playboi Carti are pretty good buddies. For example, the label head iced out the Dawn FM creator with some custom XO/Opium iced out jewelry.

Soulja Boy is in some heavy beef right now with Metro Boomin and 21 Savage over old beats, old tweets, and old news about Atlanta conflicts. Moreover, one of 21’s alleged associates posted a video online of Soulja relaying to him and his team that he never claimed to run Atlanta, something that apparently caused friction between these parties. It seems like this was in a similar vein to an apology, but it’s unclear exactly what conflict, statement, or situation caused this reach-out. Either way, everyone is definitely in a more combative space right now, so we’ll see what happens.

Furthermore, 21 Savage himself stepped in to sternly warn Soulja Boy that he was playing with fire by going at him and Metro Boomin. “Speaking on a n***a mama like shit a game you gone s**t on yourself when I see you boy,” he tweeted at the “Crank Dat” pioneer on Monday (May 13). Metro has seemingly and mostly ignored the situation online, but knowing Soulja’s social media presence, we doubt he will let up anytime soon. In a year with so much beef already, this came out of nowhere and from pretty petty places if it’s really about beats and subtweets.

Also, this feud took a particularly nasty turn due to it really spiraling out of control on Mother’s Day, which let Soulja Boy stoop to the lowest of lows. He wished Metro Boomin a happy Mother’s Day, whose mother was killed by her partner, who then took his own life, years ago. Not only that, but the 33-year-old continued to throw dirt on Metro’s mother’s name online and mocked her passing. It reminded many fans of how quickly personal things can get in rap feuds, as if the producer’s beef with Drake wasn’t enough proof of that.

Meanwhile, Soulja Boy still holds no mercy for neither 21 Savage nor Metro Boomin, but hopefully the tide changes and they can at least all calm down. Rap beef has been a tiring endeavor this year alone, and if it’s over old news, one has to wonder why they keep up with it. Playboi Carti is a mysterious individual and for some fans, this is extremely annoying and quite frankly, a bit taxing. Overall, Carti rarely gives updates on his music. Instead, he promises an album is coming and then it never comes. Moreover, he has released five singles recently, but none of them are on streaming. Furthermore, he has no album release date in sight, and fans are getting antsy. To make matters worse, he made a mocker of Adin Ross on Sunday night after the Grammys.

For those unaware, Carti was on Ross’ stream for all of 10 minutes. Ross paid Carti $1 million to show up and was going to pay him another $1 million afterward. However, Carti did not uphold his end of the bargain and got mad at Ross for not handing over more cash. In the aftermath of this, people were accusing Carti of taking advantage of Ross and his fans. It was not a good look, but now, it seems like a resolution is on the way. As Ross displays in the image below, he was on FaceTime with Carti yesterday.

6ix9ine is dealing with quite the predicament at the moment. He’s stuck in the Dominican Republic following a pair of arrests. The first came last year after an alleged assault happened in a recording studio. Video of the rapper’s fans mobbing both his arrest and release from jail made the rounds online. He was arrested again last month, this time for an alleged assault against the mother of his partner. He’s denied all the charges and was recently granted bond ahead of his trial. In a new clip making the rounds online, 6ix9ine is driving while also having a FaceTime discussion with Youngboy.
