Social media is currently in a frenzy this Tuesday morning (March 5), because one of its main pillars seems to have crumbled. Moreover, you probably already noticed that Instagram, Facebook, and the rest of the Meta-verse is down right now, and folks took to their competitor Twitter -– sorry, X -– to react. Overall, it’s a lot of chaos and memes floating around, and plenty of jokes about Mark Zuckerberg calling up Elon Musk to help him fix it. It’s unclear whether this will last much longer than a few hours, or if there are more serious tech problems going on at Meta.

Furthermore, it’s always kind of bizarre to see so much talk about one social media platform on a competing one. In fact, one of the most prevalent reactions to this whole situation is that now X is more full than it’s ever been. Leave it up to the Internet to turn everything into a popularity contest rather than try to find out what’s been going on with Instagram and Meta. On that note, it doesn’t seem like anyone from the company’s issued a statement yet on this matter. Some publications think it’s a bug, whereas others claim there’s no clear indicator of what went wrong.

Lil Baby Hands Out $100 Bills At Popeyes While Getting Food

Every once in a while a new story breaks of Lil Baby showing off his generosity. Often times it’s as simple as him just handing out money to strangers. That was the case once again during a recent trip to an Atlanta Popeyes. The employees preparing his food likely weren’t ready for him to start dishing out $100s. “Sooooo (lil baby) just came and blesssss my whole store with $100 each,” the caption of a Facebook post reads. It’s attached to a picture of some of the stores employees showing off the money Baby gave them. Another picture was of Baby himself sitting in the driveway talking to some employees.

As noted, this is far from Baby’s first act of generosity. This isn’t even the first time he’s made viral news for handing out money at a Popeyes. He’s also made massive donations to education in the past. He’s part of the My Turn Scholarship and also once made a substantial donation to his own high school. Fans of Cam’Ron’s classic tracks will surely recognize his famous custom all-pink Range Rover HSE. The car appears in some of the rapper’s most famous music videos like “Killa Cam” and “Get Em Girls.” Cam actually hasn’t been the owner of the car for quite a while. He originally sold it all the way back in 2004, just a year after he originally purchased the car. At the time he listed it on eBay with a starting price of $180k. While it isn’t surprising that the car isn’t worth what it used to be, fans are stunned by just how far the price has fallen.

The custom all-pink car was just sold on Facebook Marketplace for a mere $16k. Part of the price drop may have to do with it now having over 100,000 miles on it. In the comments of a post reporting the sale fans speculate on why the price is so low. “Prepare for many repairs,” one of the top comments suggests implying that whoever bought the car will have to sink a lot more money into it. Despite how far removed Cam is from some of his biggest hits, he’s still an attention-grabbing force in hip-hop. Cam’ron’s Pink Range Rover Goes Up For Sale On Facebook Marketplace

Cam’ron’s iconic pink Range Rover has gone up for sale on Facebook Marketplace with a starting price of $16,000. Calvin Finney, a certified Range Rover technician at Finney’s CARS in Alpharetta, Georgia, posted the listing. It notes that the car has 100,000 miles on it and also needs “some cosmetic work.” It does, however, have new oil, filters, brakes, plugs, AC, coolant, and transmission.

“This car has celebrity history,” the description reads. “It was built done in pink in 2003 when it was brand new… The car runs and drives great.”

He explained the decision during an interview with MTV News at the time. “When I drive it, it’s a headache,” he admitted, as caught by HipHopDX. “My driver be signing autographs if he’s in there by himself. At the end of the day, the NBA is an institution that truly cannot be beaten. They have some of the best athletes in the world, and this is a league that does huge numbers on social media. Speaking of social media, however, it does seem like the league needs to do a much better job of securing its various accounts. We say that because of a situation that arose recently that has brought great embarrassment to the league.

As you can see in the tweet down below, the NBA Facebook page was actually hacked by a former employee. They likely still had access to the account and decided to vent their frustrations. In the rant, the former employee claims that the social media team was being spread thin. Overall, they would have to work upwards of 14-hour days and would only make a salary that amounted to less than $50K per year. This is hardly enough to sustain oneself in today’s economy, and the employee made that clear.

Steve-O recently reflected on the time Raekwon confronted him over his “disrespectful” tribute to the late Wu-Tang Clan rapper, Ol’ Dirty Bastard. In a video posted on his Facebook page, Tuesday, the Jackass star recalled the first time he watched ODB perform in New York City and took note of his on-stage antics.

“[ODB] was the king of not giving a fuck, way before Kanye did it,” the comedian said. He recalled ODB “on stage with his pants down, dick out, smoking a huge blunt of PCP… I just thought, ‘That is my hero.’”

Method Man apparently advised against doing so, but Steve-O said, “Dirty would love that!”

“All of a sudden, Raekwon stops the show completely,” Steve-O recalled. “He grabs me by my neck and drags me to the front of the stage.” From there, Steve shares never-before-seen footage from the incident. Raekwon says: “I didn’t appreciate that, and I’ma tell you right now in front of all these people, you gonna apologize or I’ma knock you out in front of all these people. ‘I’m not playing, straight up, that was disrespectful. I’m ready to fuck you up, so you better apologize right now. And I’m going to jail, straight up.’”

“I’ve never considered myself a tough guy, but even I was surprised by what a bitch I was in that moment,” Steve-O then joked. “After that, I was allowed to go. And security told us that I really should go because I was definitely not safe.”

Steve-O Reflects On The Incident

Steve-O added that he tried to make things right with the group to no avail. He explained: “I’ve reached out to Raekwon to try to make it right with him as well, but Raekwon is not interested in talking to me about it. If I ever get the chance to meet Raekwon, I hope that we can be cool. But if he makes me apologize again, I absolutely will, very quickly.”

Mark Zuckerberg Announces Paid Service For Facebook & IG Similar To Twitter

Mark Zuckerberg says that Meta is launching a paid service for Facebook and Instagram, noticeably similar to the Twitter Blue service that Elon Musk recently went forth with. The subscription will cost $11.99 per month on web browsers or $14.99 per month on iOS. Zuckerberg made the announcement on his Instagram Story, on Sunday.

“Good morning and new product announcement: this week we’re starting to roll out Meta Verified — a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support. This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services. Meta Verified starts at $11.99 / month on web or $14.99 / month on iOS. We’ll be rolling out in Australia and New Zealand this week and more countries soon.”

A spokesperson for Meta confirmed to CNN that the company will shift the emphasis of the blue badge to authenticity in order to verify more people. “We are evolving the meaning of the blue badge to focus on authenticity so we can expand verification access to more people,” the Meta spokesperson said. “We will display follower count in more places so people can distinguish which accounts are notable public figures among accounts that share the same name.”

Elon Musk launched a similar idea for Twitter back in December. While the service has undergone many changes since then, it costs $11 a month for iOS and Android subscribers. Discord, Reddit, and YouTube are other social media platforms to offer similar subscription-based features.

Unlike Twitter, Meta users looking for verification will have to submit government IDs and match them up to their own profile. This will hopefully prevent the spread of fake accounts posing as celebrities, as has been a problem on Musk’s site. Musk responded to the Meta news on Twitter, Sunday, while reacting to a meme that implied Zuckerberg is cheating off of Musk’s ideas. He also described the decision by Meta as “Inevitable.” Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion, last year.
