The cover was a match made in heaven, and Black is definitely ready to take things to the next level.

While walking the red carpet for Kung Panda 4, Black made it abundantly clear that the D is ready to collaborate with Britney at the drop of a hat. Just say the word, and they’re there.

“Britney, if you’re watching, I love you. I love the song,” Black told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m here! I’m ready when you are. I’m waiting by the phone. I got kicks! I don’t quite have Britney kicks, but you know, I got some moves.”

Black also hopes Britney saw the cover and liked what she saw.

“We’re very proud of it, [and] I hope you like it, too,” Black said.

The Tenacious D cover has already racked up over 3 million likes thanks to Black absolutely going for it. You can watch his madcap performance below complete with Gass pulling off his best dance moves in the background and the words “Baby” written across Black’s knuckle in this hilariously badass cover of a stone-cold classic:

Taylor Swift And Beyoncé’s Concert Films Were Behind Not Just A Lot, But ‘Literally, All’ Of AMC’s Q4 Earnings Increase

Move over Mission Impossible. If anyone needed even more confirmation that pop stars saved movie theaters in 2023, AMC Theaters revealed just how thankful they were for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour and Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour being released as films through unique deals with their chain.

Both Beyoncé and Swift distributed their concert films directly through AMC, even before working with any studios or streaming platforms.

“What is particularly noteworthy is how much AMC benefited from our trailblazing industry leading efforts with our highly successful distribution of two concert movies Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour and Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé,” AMC’s CEO Adam Aron shared with Deadline. He also noted, “Literally, all of that increase in AMC’s Revenue and EBITDA is attributable to our having shown these two movies in our theatres in the U.S. and internationally.”

By their two movies alone, their fourth-quarter earnings rose by 11%, providing the theater company with $1.1 billion in revenue. This was way higher than what Wall Street had apparently initially projected for AMC.

“This is a stunning result given that neither of these films were on anyone’s drawing board until mid-year, and that they were the first movies ever distributed by AMC in our entire 103-year history,” Aron said.

“To that end, our praise for Taylor Swift and Beyoncé Knowles Carter has no limit, and we offer our boundless thanks to these two world class artists for entrusting AMC to collaborate with them as to the theatrical exhibition of their two masterpiece creations,” he added.

Who Is Performing At The 2024 Oscars?

Ryan Gosling Ken Barbie
Warner Bros.

For a little while, there was some uncertainty about whether Ryan Gosling would perform his Barbie movie favorite “I’m Just Ken” at the 2024 Oscars. A few days ago, though, Variety confirmed that he will take the Academy Awards stage to bust out the song, and now the Academy itself has revealed the full list of musical performers set to play their songs at this year’s ceremony, on March 10 at 7 p.m. ET.

Who Is Performing At The 2024 Oscars?

There are five songs nominated for the Best Original Song award this year, and as Variety notes, all of them will be performed during this year’s ceremony. The list of songs and their performers is as follows:

  • “The Fire Inside” from Flamin’ Hot (performed by Becky G, music and lyrics by Diane Warren)
  • “I’m Just Ken” from Barbie (performed by Ryan Gosling and Mark Ronson, music and lyrics by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt)
  • “It Never Went Away” from American Symphony (performed by Jon Batiste, music and lyrics by Jon Batiste and Dan Wilson)
  • “Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People)” from Killers Of The Flower Moon (performed by Scott George and the Osage Singers, music and lyrics by Scott George)
  • “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie (performed by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, music and lyrics by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell).

People Think Beyoncé’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ Sounds Like The ‘Franklin’ Theme Song And Even The TV Tune’s Writer Sort Of Agrees

“Texas Hold ‘Em” has proven to be a major song for Beyoncé. It recently became the first song by a Black woman to lead the Billboard country charts, and a few days ago, it became her ninth No. 1 single on the Hot 100. Some, though, couldn’t help but notice some similarities between Beyoncé’s single and the theme song of Franklin, the classic turtle-starring kids show from the late ’90s and early ’00s.

Here’s a video comparing the two songs:

As TMZ notes, the comparison has generated some attention on TikTok. Now, Bruce Cockburn, the beloved Canadian singer-songwriter who wrote and performed the Franklin theme, has shared his thoughts. He told the publication, “I think Beyoncé’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ is a good record. Unfortunately, I can’t claim to have had any part in writing it. The rhythmic feel is similar to my theme song for the Franklin TV series, but to my ears, that’s where the similarity stops. ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ is her song, and I wish her success with it!”

So, it doesn’t look like Beyoncé is about to get dragged into a legal battle over her new music. Kanye West can’t say the say the same thing right now, though, as it looks like he’s getting sued by Donna Summer’s estate.

Kevin Bacon And Kyra Sedgwick Serenade Their Farm Animals With Lively Rendition Of Beyonce’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’

Kevin Bacon has played his fair share of weirdos throughout his long and successful career. Over the last few years, he’s starred in a handful of creepy thrillers and horror flicks, which is why it’s refreshing to learn that the man is pretty much the opposite in real life. Not only is he beloved by movie lovers everywhere, but he also has found fans in the hardest demographic of all, Gen Z, thanks to his impressive TikTok skills.

Bacon and his wife, actress Kyra Sedgwick, are not shy about sharing their quaint farm life, which is a nice departure from the way we’ve seen Bacon in the past. This week, the two shared a cheerful rendition of Beyonce’s latest track “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” with Sedgwick providing very enthusiastic backup vocals. Their audience included their pigs, Johnny and June, and their miniature horse. A sold-out show!

Oh, to be a pig on Kevin Bacon’s serene little farm…what a magical life that would be. The word “bacon” would have such a different meaning over there. He also has a goat named Macon Bacon, by the way.

He doesn’t only use his Instagram for singing with his farm family, though he does it often. He also celebrated the 40th anniversary of Footloose by doing…whatever this trend is:

The husband and wife duo are set to star alongside one another for the first time in two decades. Maybe their nepo pig Johnny will get some roles soon.

A ‘Mean Girls’ Movie Musical Line That Left Lindsay Lohan ‘Very Hurt And Disappointed’ Has Been Removed

Paramount Pictures

Did you know that Mean Girls is the second highest-grossing movie of 2024 so far, behind only Wonka? And that it’s number one among films released this year? (Wonka came out last December.) This goes to show a) it’s been a slow year for movies (save us, Dune: Part Two), and b) the Mean Girls movie musical exceeded expectations. It was also at the center of a mini-controversy involving the original film’s star, Lindsay Lohan. The actress’ representative said that she was “very hurt and disappointed” by a reference to the term “fire crotch” made by Megan Thee Stallion in the movie musical.

TMZ reports that the line has been removed from the digital version.

The rebooted flick — which is now a musical — finally hit VOD this week… so it’s available to rent on all your major players, Amazon and the like. The only difference this time around… Meg’s quote that pissed off LiLo in theaters is completely gone. Indeed… eagle-eyed fans noticed it right away as they started to stream the flick from home — the part where Megan Thee Stallion is supposed to say “Y2K fire crotch is back” has been edited out.

Megan’s line now ends with her saying “we are going back to red,” and cuts to the “Not My Fault” rapper laughing. This is like the Star Wars special editions, except instead of George Lucas adding a scene where Han Solo steps on Jabba the Hutt’s tail, it’s the Mean Girls musical removing a joke about fire crotches. Otherwise, practically identical.

Bradley Cooper Recalls His ‘Crazy’ Visit With Beyoncé, Which Featured Jay-Z Watching ‘Judge Judy’

There are many people who would pay good money to get a glimpse of what Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s home life is like. Well, Bradley Cooper is somebody who’s seen it, and he described the experience as “crazy.”

During a recent SAG-AFTRA Foundation interview with Willie Geist, Cooper explained that he was trying to recruit Beyoncé to star alongside him in A Star Is Born, and he reminisced about a time he visited her at home:

“I went to Beyoncé’s house, and Jay-Z was watching Judge Judy, I still remember. Yeah, I’m not kidding. And I was freaking… I was so… I remember I had this weird cough when I was pitching it to her, it was so crazy. And she was incredible and so was he. And we developed it for like a year together. I mean, she’s one of the greatest people of all time, and then that fell through.

For the record, the bit about Beyoncé nearly being in the movie isn’t news, as it’s mentioned in this 2018 Variety feature. Interestingly, as that piece also notes, the idea for the A Star Is Born remake (the original movie came out in 1937 and was remade in 1976) had been around since the ’90s. At one point, Whitney Houston was apparently considered to star.

Check out Cooper’s full interview above, with the A Star Is Born story starting at about 41 minutes in.

On top of the difficulties finding any takers for the series, Staples was not getting favorable feedback on his acting chops.

Vince Staples Tells Fans That ‘Peer Pressure Works’ And Wants Netflix To Renew ‘The Vince Staples Show’

Vince Staples recently encouraged fans to help boost the success of his recent Netflix series, The Vince Staples Show, so the streaming platform will renew it for more episodes. As of right now, there are only five — and the program is a limited series.

His post started after a fan asked where the rest of the episodes were, as it seemed like a smaller number than the average show gets on the site.

“Netflix didn’t buy anymore episodes so make sure you hit that double thumbs up,” Staples wrote. “Peer pressure works and I’m tryna re up.”

Since he put the post out, fans have started tagging Netflix in tweets to hopefully get them to reconsider. “gf and I watched all 5 yesterday, hit the double thumbs up immediately,” one user replied to Staples. “Really hope they order at least 20 more episodes.”

“That season deserves an Emmy IMMEDIATELY,” another added.

The series uses Staples’ life as an inspiration. “That’s just the opportunity that we got, so we just try to make the best out of the opportunity,” Staples told Uproxx about how the show moved from YouTube. “Hopefully, it performs well and we are able to keep it going. That’s kind of how we got situated over here with Netflix, and I think it came out good. I feel like no matter how it ends up, we gave a round story and gave it some closure, some context. So I think we’ll be good either way.”

Jennifer Lopez’s Song About Her Sex Life With Ben Affleck Is… Something Else

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck haven’t reached Will and Jada levels of “we know far too much about these people,” but they’re getting there. A song on J-Lo’s ninth studio album and first in 10 years, This Is Me… Now, is unmistakably about her Dunkin’-loving husband — and their sex life.

“Greatest Love Story Never Told” (you can listen to the song below) begins with Lopez referencing her and Affleck’s on again, off again, on again romance: “Different roads, two lost souls / Never thought we’d find our way back / Could’ve lost what matters most / How could I live with that?” Then things get racy: “Missing your body climbing on top of me, slippin’ inside of me / Way that I ride it, bodies aligning, look at our timing / Forget about the world when we’re alone / Only thing that ever felt, felt like home.”

Anyone who has seen Gone Girl knows what “it” is.

While Ben obviously served as a major inspo on the new album, he also got involved personally — lending some background vocals for “Not Going Anywhere.” Yep, he’s credited.

Lopez is also releasing a documentary about the album titled The Greatest Love Story Never Told, but Jane Fonda, who appears in the film, thinks maybe she should calm things down by like 10 percent. According to Pajiba, the actress warned Lopez that while she’s rooting for her and Affleck to stay together forever, “it feels too much like you’re trying to prove something instead of just living it. You know, every other photograph is the two of you kissing and the two of you hugging.”

That’s how people felt about Gigli, too, and now it’s part of the Criterion collection. You win this round, Ben and Jen.
