Snoop Dogg Reminisced About ‘Quitting’ Smoking Weed 20 Years Ago On The ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ Anniversary Episode

Last night (January 26), Jimmy Kimmel Live! celebrated its 20th anniversary with a special episode looking back at the show’s two-decade run. They even got the celebrity guests from the debut episode back: Snoop Dogg (who served as co-host on the 2003 episode) and George Clooney. The two had a retrospective conversation, in which they discussed how at the time back then, Snoop had apparently just quit smoking weed… or so he told Kimmel.

Kimmel brought that up and followed up, “How is that going?” Snoop, who is of course one of pop culture’s most famous marijuana connoisseurs, gave a fake sigh and replied, “Well, I guess I’ve relapsed.”

From there, Kimmel revealed he has hung on to Snoop’s 2003 rider (a list of things he wanted in his dressing room) for all these years and rattled off the items, which were mostly junk food. He then compared it to Snoop’s current rider, which is essentially the same but just a lot longer. Snoop laughed as he read the newer rider and then explained, “You got to look at it like this: Every opportunity to go on a television show is like a shopping spree. I get a chance to get some free groceries.”

Drake Revived His Classic ‘Degrassi’ Character During His Apollo Theater Concert

Drake postponed his first-ever shows at the Apollo Theater from early December to Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22, and the general consensus is that he could have postponed them to January 2024 and the wait would have been worth it. From performing an exhaustive set list to teasing a potential new project, Drake brought everything to the stage.

According to Billboard, Drake’s set was just as much a visual chronicle of his journey as it was a musical one. Drake opened the show with “Over My Dead Body” from 2011’s Take Care while wearing the same basketball jersey worn by Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Drake starred in the role from 2001 to 2009 — when he was still best known as Aubrey Graham — and he also mocked his haircut from that time elsewhere in the show.

“I wanted to make this show about gratitude,” Drake told the crowd near the top of the show, per Billboard. “This is a little story we put together about my deep love for my family, for my dear friends and for each and every one of you that have been supporting me for a long time.”

Drake also shared the stage with his Her Loss collaborator 21 Savage, Dipset, and Lil Uzi Vert across the two nights. Check out clips below.

Kylie Jenner Finally Revealed The Name Of Her And Travis Scott’s Son

Kylie Jenner has finally revealed the name of her and Travis Scott‘s son. Today (January 21) the reality star and makeup mogul took to Instagram to share an adorable set of photos of her and her son. The photo was captioned “AIRE” with a white heart emoji. While it was rather cryptic, Kylie’s mom, Kris Jenner commented on the post saying, “I love you Aire Webster,” confirming the baby’s name.

Aire was born last February, and Kylie and Scott had previously shared that their son’s name was Wolf Jacques Webster. However, shortly after revealing the name, Kylie took to her Instagram story to reveal that their son’s name was no longer Wolf.

“We just really didn’t feel like it was him.” Jenner said. “Just wanted to share because I keep seeing Wolf everywhere.”

Earlier this month, Kylie and Scott reportedly broke up, however, they are still said to be co-parenting Aire and their first-born daughter, Stormi.

“Kylie and Travis are off again, they were supposed to spend the holidays together, but she went to Aspen to be with her family and friends up there,” said the source close to the Kardashians. “This has happened so many times before, they’re known to be on again off again, but always remain friends and great coparents.”

Today, Madonna announced The Celebration Tour, a trek that will see Madonna playing hits from across her four-decade career. Madonna, ever the shock-friendly performer, unveiled the news with a wild new video featuring Jack Black, Lil Wayne, Diplo, Judd Apatow, Eric Andre, Amy Schumer, Bob The Drag Queen, Kate Berlant, Larry Owens, and Meg Stalter.

The five-minute clip features a truth-or-dare game between the celebrities as they sit around a table. Madonna kicks things off by daring Schumer to simulate how she would lick her husband’s butt, which she does by not doing it. Andre then dared Diplo to dip his balls in his margarita and drink it, and he obliged. Diplo then turned the tables back on Madonna, who he instructed to “tongue-kiss” Black, and indeed, she did just that.

There are some more shenanigans from there — including Madonna, Wayne, and Black posing for a racy photo — but the whole thing ends with one final dare, from Schumer to Madonna: to go on a world tour. Of course, given the purpose of the video, Madonna accepted.

In a statement, Madonna said of the upcoming trek, “I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for.”

Janelle Monáe’s Pronouns Are ‘She/Her, They/Them, And Free-Ass Motherf*cker,’ She Declared In A Powerful Critics Choice Awards Speech

This weekend, Janelle Monáe popped up at the Critics Choice Awards, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Glass Onion. While that award ended up going to Angela Bassett for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Monáe was given the SeeHer Award, which “honors a woman who advocates for gender equality, portrays characters with authenticity, defies stereotypes and pushes boundaries,” per the Critics Choice Association.

Monáe made her acceptance speech memorable, too.

Introducing Monáe, Glass Onion co-star Kate Hudson said (as The Hollywood Reporter notes), “There are so many ways to describe Janelle: visionary artist, brilliant musician, inspirational, one-of-a-kind human being. I remember the moment we met on Glass Onion. Janelle walked down the staircase in this bright yellow dress, just exuding goddess, regal energy. It was like the seas parted. Everyone’s jaws dropped and the room instantly fell in love. It’s hard not to, but to know her, to see the care and dedication she nurtures in her relationships and in her art, is to really fall in love with her.”

Monáe then started her speech by saying her pronouns are “she/her, they/them, and free-ass motherf*cker,” per People.

She continued:

“I’ve tried to make an effort in my work — whether it’s storytelling through music, through film, through TV, through fashion, through literature — to highlight the ones who have been pushed to the margins of society who’ve been outcast or relegated to the other. I am non-binary, I am queer, and my identity influences my decisions in my work. I’ve always believed that through storytelling, we are able to shed light on a human experience, an experience that most people around this world won’t get an opportunity to see. And I keep this glimmer of hope in my heart that when someone meets a character, like the ones I’ve had an opportunity to play, you’d be more empathetic to their experience. […] You want to be more like them. You want to be more kind, less judgmental, and more eager to advocate for them.”

John Legend And Chrissy Teigen Have Reportedly Welcomed Their Third Child

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have reportedly welcomed their third child.

Legend revealed the news this Friday (January 13) during a private concert, People reports. He reportedly told the audience that he and Teigen had welcomed “the little baby this morning.”

Legend continued, saying that he “didn’t get a lot of sleep” but he felt “energized” after having spent “a lot of time” at the hospital overnight. The couple has not yet shared a name for the baby or any images of the baby on social media, however, Legend was said to be in bright spirits. He was said to have been over the moon, exclaiming, “What a blessed day.”

Legend and Teigen are already parents to son Miles, 4, and daughter Luna, 6. In an interview on Good Morning Britain that took place last September, Legend revealed that Miles and Luna are excited to bring a new sibling into the family. He also noted that he and Teigen were approaching the pregnancy with caution after she had suffered pregnancy complications back in October of 2020.

“Whenever you lose a pregnancy there is always cautious optimism when you’re pregnant again,” he said. “because you never know what could happen and you’ve experienced that tragedy of losing one. But everything has been great so far, the kids are excited, we’re all excited and can’t wait to welcome the new baby into the world.”

Demi Lovato, Rick Ross, Killer Mike, And More Will Guest Star On Season 3 Of ‘Dave’

After a nearly two-year hiatus, Dave is set to return for a third season this April. The show sees rapper Lil Dicky play a fictional version of himself as he navigates the rap game, with his hype-man GaTa, and his producer, Elz (Travis Bennett).

In the previous two seasons, several of Lil Dicky’s peers in the industry have made guest appearances on the show, including Gunna, Trippie Redd, Doja Cat, and Benny Blanco. The upcoming third season will continue the show’s run of star-studded guest line-ups. Today (January 13), the show’s official Twitter account revealed a list of who to expect on Dave this season.

Among this season’s guest stars are rappers Killer Mike, Rick Ross, and Machine Gun Kelly. Kelly’s fiance, actress Megan Fox, is also set to appear this season. Pop icon Demi Lovato and superproducer and drummer Travis Barker will also appear, as well as actor Don Cheadle.

Not much else is known about Dave‘s upcoming third season, however, the show’s namesake took to Twitter to promise a treat for the fans.

“third time’s the charm – most rapping, most funny, most cinematic, most romantic, most definitely the most exciting season ever!!!!!!,” said Lil Dicky.

Despite Her Impressive Acting Resume, Janelle Monáe Doesn’t Consider Herself A ‘Serious Actor’

Over the years, Janelle Monáe has shown to be quite the multihyphenate. On top of an incredible music discography, Monáe has been quite the scene stealer in movies like Moonlight, Hidden Figures, and most recently, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Still, she thinks of herself as a musician first.

In a recent interview with W, Monáe revealed that she still feels as though she’s dipping her toes in the acting waters.

“I’m still not a serious actor,” she said. “It’s all about playing, being silly. When you see me in a film, I don’t want you to see Janelle Monáe.”

Still, she said the elements of a film, like characters and a storyline, come into play when she makes her albums.

“…my albums are all concept albums, so they center around characters like the Dirty Computer, the Electric Lady, the ArchAndroid,” she said. “It’s in my blood to play characters and to do world-building.”

Perhaps we’ll get to see these theatrics at work soon. Earlier this month, she shared a video on Instagram of herself in the studio, playing what sounded like a snippet of a new song.

Beyoncé And Kendrick Lamar Lead The 2023 NAACP Image Awards Nominees

The NAACP Image Awards are set to return next month. Leading the nominations in the recording categories are Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar, both of whom have five nominations. Both Bey and Lamar are nominated for Outstanding Album, for their respective works, Renaissance and Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which dropped last year.

It’s also worth noting that this year’s Entertainer Of The Year category is completely filled with women nominees, including Mary J. Blige, Angela Bassett, Quinta Brunson, Zendaya, and Viola Davis.

The ceremony will air on Saturday, February 25 at 8 p.m. EST on BET. In the week leading up to the ceremony, the NAACP will announce winners in the non-televised categories. Fans can vote for their favorite nominees in music, television, and motion picture here until February 10.

Pharrell Explained Why He Doesn’t See Himself Ever Creating A Film Score

For over three decades, Pharrell Williams has been one of the strongest forces in music. Having produced music for some of the biggest artists in pop, hip-hop, and R&B, as well as his solo projects, and his projects with NERD., there’s no denying Pharrell has the magic touch. While he’s also produced commercial jingles, and even the opening music for Chelsea Handler’s old late-night talk show, Chelsea Lately, fans of Pharrell shouldn’t get their hopes up for any long-form pieces from him.

In an extensive interview with The Guardian, Pharrell was asked if he would ever consider scoring for a film franchise like Star Trek. He revealed that while he is a fan of Star Trek, he doesn’t feel that scoring films is in his wheelhouse.

“Scoring is a different speed,” he said. “There are all kinds of races: relay, marathons, cross-country, sprints. A film is a marathon. Every step has to be penciled in to take people on a journey. A 15-second jingle would be a sprint. My specialty is the three-to-five-minute race. I don’t have the mental endurance to stay on something as long as a film score. There’s a reason Hans Zimmer has two Oscars. I’m not an actor, so the only thing I would ever consider would be a Wes Anderson film because I’m a huge Wes Anderson fan. I have very peculiar tastes as to how I like to escape, so I would completely lose myself and be any character he asked.”

Though it seems scoring a film is out of the question, fans can always enjoy the prolific producer’s expansive discography. Additionally, he is set to drop a new album called Phriends, Vol. 1 this year.
