Dr Umar Thinks Drake Has A Case Against UMG Over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”

In November, Drake filed a pre-action petition against Universal Music Group and Spotify over Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us.” In it, he accuses the companies of artificially boosting the song using bots, payola, and more. He also accuses UMG of defamation, alleging that they could have prevented the release of the song in which Kendrick labels him an alleged predator. Unsurprisingly, this has been one of the Toronto rapper’s most controversial moves yet. While many have been clowning him over it, others think there’s a chance that he could actually expose alleged corruption in the music industry.

During a recent interview with The Art Of Dialogue, for example, Dr Umar Johnson explained why he thinks Drake has a case. “Drake is alleging that Universal Music Group is suppressing his music, suppressing his streams… They haven’t been marketing him as strongly as they have been marketing Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick and Drake are both signed to labels that are subsidiaries of Universal Music Group. So that is a conflict of interest. You represent me and you represent my arch nemesis, that’s a conflict of interest,” he alleged.

Dr Umar Calls UMG Representing Drake & Kendrick Lamar An Alleged “Conflict Of Interest”

“Categorically and qualitatively speaking,” Dr Umar continued, “I have heard Kendrick’s ‘Not Like Us’ a whole lot more since it dropped than I’ve heard Drake. And mind you, even though I don’t listen to them personally […] I’m around enough other people Art, that I know what people are listening to and what’s on the radio is Kendrick and not Drake as much.” Elsewhere in the interview, Dr Umar revealed why he doesn’t listen to Kendrick or Drake, claiming that it’s all because they’ve been in interracial relationships.

“If brother Kendrick who I love and respect, Drake I love and respect, y’all this ain’t no personal issue… But if Kendrick tells me that his fiancée does not identify as a Black woman on a full-time basis then he is a bunny hopper and I cannot listen to his music.”

Dr Umar Johnson Is Outraged By Jay-Z Allegations And Cautions His Accuser

Hip-hop culture isn’t the only group going wild over the allegations against Jay-Z, as an anonymous woman accused both him and Diddy of sexually assaulting her at a 2000 VMAs after party when she was just 13 years old. This proved to be a controversial situation not only because of the weight of these claims, but also due to folks questioning the Jane Doe’s story and pointing out supposed holes in her recollections. Dr Umar Johnson is the latest celebrity to speak out about this, and he took a pretty nuanced stance all things considered. He hopes the victim finds justice if she’s innocent, but if she’s fabricating this, he thinks that she might’ve prompted her own undoing by requesting a jury trial that could reveal if she’s lying or not.

“Now, in the civil suit paperwork, according to Tony Buzbee, what he read, her attorney based in Houston, Texas,” Dr. Umar Johnson began regarding the Jay-Z situation. “According to the civil suit, she demands a jury trial. That really caught me. I was surprised at that. She’s demanding a jury trial. Why am I surprised? Because if she’s demanding a jury trial, she’s going to have to take the stand. She has to testify!”

Furthermore, Dr. Umar Johnson explained that Jay-Z and Diddy can plead their Fifth Amendment rights to refuse to testify, since they are the ones whom the plaintiff accused. However, as for the accuser herself, her reported desire for a jury trial means that she cannot plead the Fifth and will most likely have to testify if it goes to a jury trial. While he questioned this move, he also made it clear that he doesn’t know whether she or Hov are lying or not, and that he is praying that she gets all that she wants if she really suffered this abhorrent event.

Then, Dr. Umar Johnson claimed that racism is what caused the court to deny Diddy’s bail for a third time. His argument pointed to Vince McMahon, whom authorities still haven’t arrested, as an example with similar allegations of this presumed double standard. Dr. Umar also posited that this is a “loud message” to Black celebrities such as Jay-Z that they will face a takedown if they do not comply with the industry.

Joe Budden Wants Dr Umar To Explain His Criticism Of Hip-Hop In The Black Community

Dr. Umar Johnson dished out yet another controversial take on the Hustle Over Everything podcast, questioning what good hip-hop has done for the Black community. “I’m talking about both,” he answered when asked by Mouse Jones whether his disappointment in rap music is about its culture or its industry. “You’re still selling death and destruction to my kids while your kids are going to $30,000-a-year privileged white schools. That’s what you call a traitor. The hip-hop community has betrayed Black America. […] It ain’t did s**t in 50 years for the community. It made individuals rich and it’s it. And it gave out a couple of jobs. So did the drug dealer.”

The Joe Budden Podcast discussed this take, in which Dr. Umar posited that education should’ve been a stronger institution that hip-hop culture should’ve created, citing Jay-Z as an example of a success story that owes something to the Black community. Johnson and Jones agreed that the rap community needs accountability and more #MeToo-like initiatives. Moving on to the Slaughterhouse MC’s pod’ though, the cohosts argued that hip-hop can sometimes – but not always – promote street life that Black folks engage in out of necessity and survival. However, they don’t think that hip-hop caused this systemic cycle, hinting at a larger oppressive system that rap music did not create.

The Joe Budden Podcast‘s Takes On Dr. Umar’s Dismissal Of Hip-Hop In The Black Community

“And I want to make it perfectly clear that we’re using the word or the words ‘hip-hop,’” Joe Budden remarked. “I’m not certain, again, that he is referring to the culture of hip-hop. When he is saying ‘hip-hop,’ he is talking to the music and entertainment business that is controlled by Jewish people [an often bigoted insinuation that Budden doesn’t seem to endorse, but is assuming Dr. Umar’s intention with]. It would be tough for him to have that conversation with me as somebody who hip-hop saved my life. Like, he maybe can talk like that to Mouse Jones. He can’t say that to me.”

Elsewhere, The Joe Budden Podcast‘s cohosts spoke on how hip-hop as a whole provides employment for struggling families, and seemingly didn’t catch Dr. Umar’s statement that his take is about both the culture and the industry. The titular host specifically used the controversial of Russell Simmons saying that he’s been here too long and helped too many people to be “canceled.” “Like, we’re talking about over 50 years of people helping people,” Budden expressed. “My other problem with Dr. Umar is [that] he came right up here and said part of our problem is we want to do it for us and we’re not selfless enough to do it for the generations to come. He came in here and said that. I remember. It stuck out like a f***ing sore thumb. I’ll give him this: music – not the music business – but music is many kids’ way through life.”

Ray J & Dr. Umar Have A Heated Exchange Over Sukihana

Earlier this year, Sukihana and Ray J sparked rampant dating rumors when they were spotted exchanging luxury gifts, enjoying shopping high-end sprees together, and more. They since appear to have shut the speculation down, as Suki unveiled her new boyfriend last month. It seems as though she and Ray J were simply spending a lot of time together to promote their endeavors with Tronix Network, and were never anything more than collaborators.

Over the weekend, however, Suki was spotted alongside Dr. Umar in Miami. The two of them have quite a history, though it doesn’t look like there’s anything extracurricular going on between them either. Regardless, social media users were quick to point out that the duo looked surprisingly good as a couple. The link-up even prompted a heated response from Ray J, who slid into Dr. Umar’s DMs with a threatening message almost immediately.

“SUKI is my girl— STAND DOWN FAM,” he wrote. As expected, Dr. Umar didn’t take too kindly to Ray J’s demands and didn’t hesitate to fire back. “Good brother,” he began. “I don’t take orders from men. You do you and I’m going to do me. With that being said we can leave it right there Bruh…..” Clearly, neither Ray J nor Dr. Umar is willing to back off of Sukihana. As for the Baddies star, she’s yet to address the debacle.

Instead, Suki’s been hard at work promoting her new single “Suki Suki,” which she dropped last week. What do you think of Ray J sliding into Dr. Umar’s DMs with a heated message after he linked up with Sukihana in Miami? Are you surprised or not? What about Dr. Umar’s response to Ray J? Dr Umar Reveals The Bizarre Reason Why He Doesn’t Support Bronny James

A lot of folks are talking about Bronny James right now, firing off hot takes about his father LeBron James’ current team, the Los Angeles Lakers, drafting him. While this obviously prompted a lot of criticism and defense, not a lot of people brought race into the equation. Well, Dr Umar Johnson offered his latest piece of Black culture commentary surrounding Bronny’s white girlfriend. We have to admit that this became a pretty surprising and spicy point of view to have about the basketball player.

“I will watch Bronny James play when he drops the snow bunny,” Dr. Umar’s social media message began. “I don’t support Black men who date out the race. So until Bronny James stops bunny-hopping, I can’t do it. I’m happy for him and his father, though… If Bronny James stops bunny-hopping. If he doesn’t stop bunny-hopping, I can’t support that. No snow bunnies, no sand bunnies, no salsa bunnies. No salsa, no sand, no snow, no rice. I said: no salsa, no sand, no snow, no rice. I said: no salsa bunnies, no snow bunnies, no sand bunnies, no rice bunnies.

Dr Umar’s Thoughts On Bronny James

“I’m happy for Bronny James,” Dr. Umar continued. “I want to see LeBron and his son on the court together. But “Snow Bunny” Bronny James isn’t going to solve your problems. “Snow Bunny” Bronny James isn’t going to solve your problems. CNN: Caucasian News Network. Waiting for the elections is waiting on the white man. Waiting for reparations is waiting for the white man. And many of you pray to a white Jesus, so waiting on God is also waiting for a white man. They will reject all advances from [Black] peers. If the snow bunnies care about the future of [the] Black [United States], reject all thirsty, low self-esteem, [Black]-being males. That’s all. Reject them. Reject them. Send them back to their community, that’s all you got to do.”

Meanwhile, even LeBron’s wife Savannah is posting memes about Bronny James as a Laker. This is a pretty interesting and anticipated topic in the NBA world that folks have debated for a long time now. Who knew that Dr Umar would step in to add a little bit more gasoline to that fire? We’ll see if this is a common talking point or if he will stand alone.

Dr Umar Johnson Believes Diddy Is Going To Start A Mega Church Following Cassie Assault Footage Scandal

Dr Umar Johnson is someone who comments on some of the biggest topics in pop culture. Overall, Dr. Umar is known for having some controversial opinions. However, he has a pretty sizable fanbase who agrees with a lot of what he has to say. While some may take offense to his words, it is clear that he knows how to get people talking, for better or for worse. Dr Umar Johnson Speaks

Dr. Umar claims that Diddy will be baptized and that creating this church will make him more money than he ever made as a music mogul. Essentially, Johnson believes that Diddy is going to become some sort of grifter with religion as his main focus. Of course, this is simply a prediction and not a true sign of what is to come. Moreover, Dr. Umar also spoke about colorism and how it plays into the backlash Diddy is receiving. He questioned whether or not society would be as upset with Diddy had he assaulted a woman of darker complexion.

Dr. Umar Reacts To Heckler Claiming They Slept Together The Night Before Event

Dr. Umar Johnson is not nearly as know for his recent hot takes on Eminem as he is for his studies and expression on Pan-Africanism, relationship dynamics, sexuality, and so much more. He touches on a lot of spicy and often contentious topics, especially within the Black community, so it’s no surprise that folks can have pretty strong reactions. However, none of those justifiably end in violence, and a woman at the media personality’s recent appearance in Atlanta almost took things a little too far. She approached him onstage and threw something at him before security at the venue appeared.

“Who’s that queen?” Dr. Umar Johnson asked plainly when the woman approached him, and she seemed to claim that they had slept together the night before. He claimed that he had never seen her in his life, and security promptly escorted her out as he continued his speech and riled the crowd up to quickly move past that interruption. Fortunately, the 49-year-old avoided any serious or harmful situation, and could go back to delivering his unfiltered and steamy takes on pop culture. Another recent topic of debate was his accusations against Cassie and Christian Keyes for “financial exploitation” amid their claims of sexual abuse against powerful individuals.

If that sounds confusing, it’s because Dr. Umar has spent a lot of time calling out people who call others out, making it a pretty cyclical interaction sometimes. Say what you will about his views, but it’s clear that his thoughts and how he carries himself as a personality has garnered a lot of sympathizers. Some are very questionable, such as Andrew Tate, but who’s to say there can’t be common ground? Hopefully people just look at these topics at face value and don’t let other perspectives or biases cloud them.

Meanwhile, other supporters appreciated the Philly native’s criticism of Vanessa Bryant for how she handled her money after Kobe’s tragic loss. Whether that’s wrong or not is up to you to decide, but it’s clear that his views can often come across as very harmful to their intended targets. Maybe Dr. Umar’s next responses and events will see him turn a new leaf and be more empathetic and understanding rather than demonizing. With that in mind, stay up to date on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Umar Johnson.

[WATCH] Dr. Umar Johnson Sparks Controversy With Views On Promiscuity, Rappers And Colorism

Screen Shot 2024 01 17 at 12.17.51 PM

In a recent appearance on the “Highly Initiated” podcast, social media influencer Dr. Umar Johnson stirred up more controversy with his statements linking emotional damage to sexual promiscuity in women. The podcast, which aired on January 14, featured Dr. Umar expressing his views on the impact of emotional trauma on relationships.

During the discussion, Dr. Umar shared, “If you are traumatized, if you are emotionally damaged; you are promiscuous.” He went on to say that emotionally traumatized individuals seek constant validation from others, leading to behaviors he associates with promiscuity.

His main argument is the belief that children need both parents for emotional and psychological development, emphasizing the significance of a father figure. Dr. Umar stated, “If a woman’s father loved her, she won’t have trouble loving a man,” suggesting that a father’s presence in a child’s life is crucial for healthy emotional development.

According to Dr. Umar, women who had their fathers actively involved in their lives “operate in the dating game completely different” compared to those who did not. He implies that the absence of a father figure may contribute to trust issues and a lack of confidence in navigating relationships for some women.

His remarks have sparked discussions around personal experiences, parenting, and the impact on romantic relationships.

Critics point out that attributing promiscuity solely to emotional trauma may perpetuate harmful stereotypes and stigmatize individuals who have experienced trauma. It raises concerns about the potential for victim-blaming and reinforces outdated beliefs about women’s behavior based on their upbringing. He also spoke on rappers showing color preferences including Jay-Z and ‘woke’ black conscious communities.

MC Shan Dismisses Dr. Umar’s Eminem Comments: “You Know That N***a Nice”

The GOAT debate is one of the pillars of hip-hop community discussion, and one contender in particular carries more baggage than most. Eminem is widely respected as one of the most impactful and skilled lyricists in rap history, but his status as the biggest rapper paired with the fact that he’s white doesn’t sit well with many. Dr. Umar Johnson recently reopened this grievance, saying that to call Em the best rapper of all time would be “white supremacy.” Many took issue with this dismissal, including Queensbridge legend MC Shan, who recently blasted Umar on Instagram Live on Saturday (December 30).

“Mister motherf***ing Umar, you just make everything a race thing, n***a,” MC Shan exclaimed. “Everything ain’t no f***ing race thing. Eminem– motherf***er, you know that n***a nice. Em deserves a motherf***ing slot in this game! Em wasn’t no rich motherf***er that come and rob the rap game, and step off. Em motherf***ing came in this motherf***er, he had more problems than any Black n***a. His plate was just as f***ed up as some of us in the Black community. Nobody’s robbing us.

“If you don’t wanna respect him, you do what you do, n***a,” MC Shan continued. “We don’t f**k with you anyway like that, n***a. We talk our hip-hop s**t. You talking Black racial, Black f***ing culture rhythm. Yeah, we on that, but n***a, we don’t f**k with that s**t. Leave us over here. Em is down with us, son.” Furthermore, this is ironic because, in his double-down of this perspective, Umar made it clear that he has no personal issue with Eminem. His artistry is undeniable, but he called to attention people who call him the best, which to him is blasphemous.

Meanwhile, Shan got out of a feud with Nas earlier this year, so maybe there will be a reconciliation with the media figure down the line. Both men are definitely not alone in their indignation, and it’s a conversation that might persist for the rest of time. As long as Slim Shady is relevant and beloved, we’ll get so many differing perspectives on what his legacy should be. On that note, come back to HNHH for more news and updates on Eminem, Dr. Umar, and MC Shan.

Throughout his time on the pod, Johnson speaks against interracial marriages, zeroing in on Bryant and what he believes is a lack of financial support to the Black community with the money her husband made.

“Kobe Bryant. Vanessa inherited his wealth and guess what? Is Vanessa Bryant using any of his money to do good in the Black community,” Johnson said.

Johnson’s claim was responded to with immediate challenges from the JBP cast. You can hear it all below.
