Bronny had a less-than-stellar freshman season and is opting to bet on himself to make it to the NBA. It is more likely that Bronny won’t be selected in the 2024 NBA Draft. The latest ESPN Mock draft has Bronny embarrassingly going undrafted. While it’s just a mock draft, it represents many scouts’ opinions of Bronny. He didn’t put up spectacular numbers as a freshman, and while there’s obvious talent, there isn’t enough evidence to draft him.

Many believe he should go back to school, but that might not be a bad idea. Going back to school, he could show that his freshman season was a fluke and that he is the real deal. Additionally, there’s a possibility that even if he goes undrafted, he will try to grind it out and make an NBA roster via the G-League. Bronny is LeBron’s son, so he will most likely get a thorough look this summer as the combine approaches and draft workouts take place. Still, it’s pretty demoralizing not even being considered worth using a second-round pick on.

Bronny James averaged 4.8 points per game on 36.6% shooting from the field, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 25 games. He displayed energy and athleticism on defense but was not very effective when he was on the course. Some believe Bronny still has the potential to be an impactful player at the next level. In high school, Bronny was a knockdown shooter with great defensive instincts. You will always have a place in the league if you can defend and hit threes in the NBA. He will get the opportunity to go up against his fellow draft hopefuls, and it may push him up some draft boards enough for a team to pick him in the second round.

Bronny had a turbulent freshman season at USC. He suffered from cardiac arrest during the Triojans summer workouts, putting his playing career in doubt. He recovered strong and was able to make his debut for USC four months after his heart surgery. Bronny didn’t get a complete off-season to get acclimated to college. He made his debut and had to learn on the fly on a team that wasn’t very good. Bronny will for sure get a shot at the NBA. He may end up going back to college for another year, but the NBA will always be the endgame for Bronny.

Bronny James shocked the world last week when he decided to declare for the NBA Draft. Overall, his decision was one that surprised a whole lot of people. After all, he only averaged 4.8 points per game in his first season at USC, which is not exactly NBA material. However, a lot of this had to do with his cardiac arrest he suffered prior to the start of the season. He needed to play catch up and it is clear his confidence wasn’t there. Regardless, the odds do not seem particularly stacked in favor of him being drafted.

For instance, an anonymous executive recently came out and said that Bronny has no chance of getting drafted. He said that Bronny was not an NBA caliber prospect and that there were three rounds of players who could be taken above him. These were pretty harsh words, although not everyone seems to agree. In a new report from Bleacher Report, Jonathan Wasserman gave his view of Bronny and what he thinks the kid could potentially accomplish.

Wasserman believes that Bronny could actually become a solid three and D player in the league. In fact, Bronny was compared specifically to Quentin Grimes. While some may find this to be an underwhelming comp, Grimes is in the NBA and has proven to be an impactful player. Ultimately, it beats not being in the league whatsoever.

However, the support for LeBron’s oldest son seems to be dwindling by the second, especially since he announced he would be entering the NBA Draft. It was a pretty shocking report considering how much he struggled offensively (4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists). But he does have some strong defensive prowess, so perhaps that was enough for him to test his luck. He is able to stay in school if things do not play out and that seems to be the trajectory he is on right now. According to TMZ Sports and The Ringer, teams might want to skip on Bronny James in the upcoming draft.

“Bronny is nowhere near ready. He should go back to school to develop at his own pace or he risks getting lost in the shuffle, whether or not he’s playing with his dad.” Those were the words on anonymous NBA general manager to The Ringer this morning. Kevin O’Connor interviewed one GM, a front office executive, and a scout from separate organizations to get a larger gauge on Bronny and if skills could translate to the big leagues.

This NBA GM Kept It A Buck On Bronny James’ Draft Stock

There is some optimism for him, as he is built and in great physical condition even with his scary heart issue before the season began. But the shooting percentages are a major concern. “Bronny is an undersized non-shooting guard. The shot looks good but doesn’t go in. Those guys scare me the most,” the scout said. “It’s either lack of touch or mental, and either way those take years to correct.” At the moment, Bronny is not on the 2024 Draft board and is projected to be a second round look in 2025.

Either way, fans have been a bit concerned about his development. Even LeBron had to step back at one point and tell people to cut his kid some slack.

The son of LeBron James is now entering the NBA Draft. Furthermore, he is going to maintain his college eligibility, just in case no one wants to take him. Lastly, he will also enter the transfer portal for good measure. No matter what, he has played his final game for the Trojans.

Is Bronny James Declaring For The NBA Draft? Rich Paul Gives Update On USC Freshman’s Thinking

Rich Paul has stated that Bronny James’ draft decision will be based on “team interest” and not projected draft position. “I don’t value a young player getting into the lottery as much as I do getting him on the right team in the right developmental situation,” Paul told ESPN. Furthermore, Paul noted that LeBron James’ long-stated desire to play with his son will not factor into the decision. However, Paul did note that LeBron would be “head over heels” if it happened “organically”. This comment also appeared to put to bed the idea that LeBron would leave the Lakers to play with Bronny.

It has been a less-than-ideal season for Bronny James. Entering college as a top-15 recruit, the start of his season was derailed by a cardiac arrest suffered last July. While that congenital defect has reportedly been addressed, Bronny will still have to get clearance from the NBA’s Fitness to Play panel. Additionally, Bronny has simply not played like an NBA prospect. He has averaged 5/2.8/2.4 a game for a Trojans team that has fallen well short of expectations. Projected to finish second in the Pac-12, USC is second-last in the division with two games left on the schedule.

Austin Rivers And Stephen Jackson Feud Over Bronny James

Of course, Bronny’s NBA fit remains a heated point of discussion. Stephen Jackson took offense to Austin Rivers’ rationale behind why LeBron and Bronny shouldn’t play on the same team if Bronny makes the move to the NBA. “Difference is you trash, Bronny not. You can’t compare to him scrub. And your daddy not LeBron. Shut up,” Jackson wrote in the comments on an Instagram post reporting Rivers’ original comments. Rivers later replied to the former NBA player. “All smiles…I didn’t even have to fight my own battles with ignorance, yall corrected it for me!! Thank you for not siding with delusion. An X (Twitter) account NBACentral sent out information on LBJ’s son’s latest draft stock and it is not looking good for the USC product. ESPN has removed the 19 year-old from the 2024 mock draft and is now slated to be selected in 2025. The Los Angeles Laker has been hyping up his oldest kid, but things just have not panned out yet. However, Lebron saw Bronny’s mock draft tweet and his reaction is causing a stir on the platform.

It appears his fiery message has been deleted, but DJ Akademiks was able to snag a screenshot of it. “Can y’all please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball. The work and results will ultimately do the talking no matter what he decides to do.” LeBron continues, “If y’all don’t know he doesn’t care what a mock draft says, he just WORKS! Earned Not Given!”

Bronny James Hits Three In Front Of Booing Crowd, But Fans Still Call Cap On His Skill

Bronny James opened USC’s recent game against Cal with a three-pointer hit at the top of the arc. Furthermore, Bronny hit the shot despite prominent boos ringing out at Haas Pavillion. However, while Bronny’s diehard supporters claimed that Bronny was proving his god-like hype, other hoop fans weren’t as impressed. Bronny would go on to make just one other basket during the game, finishing with 5 points and 5 rebounds as USC lost 83-77. LeBron James, Bronny’s father, was in attendance for the game and happily embraced his song after the OT loss. Bronny played 28 minutes but continued to be a non-factor for the Trojans as they dropped to 3-9 in conference play and dead last in the Pac-12. USC was projected to finish 2nd in the preseason media poll.

While the life-changing circumstances of Bronny’s cardiac arrest last July must be considered, the son of one of basketball’s greatest players is simply not living up to the hype. He is currently averaging 5.8/3.0/2.5 a game and has completely fallen out of most NBA mock drafts. However, Bronny still commands a rabid fanbase who believe that he is poised to take over from his father in the NBA, despite the subpar basketball that he is playing.

Austin Rivers And Stephen Jackson Feud About Bronny James

Meanwhile, the topic of Bronny recently sparked a feud between Austin Rivers and Stephen Jackson. Jackson called Rivers “trash” and “a scrub” after Rivers spoke about Bronny on ESPN. It was a bizarre reaction given that Rivers’ point was that Bronny and LeBron shouldn’t play together so that Bronny had the chance to forge his own legacy in the NBA. “I don’t want to see Bronny play with [LeBron]… Him getting drafted & playing with his dad, I don’t want that negativity to come his way.
