Bronny James Hits Three In Front Of Booing Crowd, But Fans Still Call Cap On His Skill

Bronny James opened USC’s recent game against Cal with a three-pointer hit at the top of the arc. Furthermore, Bronny hit the shot despite prominent boos ringing out at Haas Pavillion. However, while Bronny’s diehard supporters claimed that Bronny was proving his god-like hype, other hoop fans weren’t as impressed. Bronny would go on to make just one other basket during the game, finishing with 5 points and 5 rebounds as USC lost 83-77. LeBron James, Bronny’s father, was in attendance for the game and happily embraced his song after the OT loss. Bronny played 28 minutes but continued to be a non-factor for the Trojans as they dropped to 3-9 in conference play and dead last in the Pac-12. USC was projected to finish 2nd in the preseason media poll.

While the life-changing circumstances of Bronny’s cardiac arrest last July must be considered, the son of one of basketball’s greatest players is simply not living up to the hype. He is currently averaging 5.8/3.0/2.5 a game and has completely fallen out of most NBA mock drafts. However, Bronny still commands a rabid fanbase who believe that he is poised to take over from his father in the NBA, despite the subpar basketball that he is playing.

Austin Rivers And Stephen Jackson Feud About Bronny James

Meanwhile, the topic of Bronny recently sparked a feud between Austin Rivers and Stephen Jackson. Jackson called Rivers “trash” and “a scrub” after Rivers spoke about Bronny on ESPN. It was a bizarre reaction given that Rivers’ point was that Bronny and LeBron shouldn’t play together so that Bronny had the chance to forge his own legacy in the NBA. “I don’t want to see Bronny play with [LeBron]… Him getting drafted & playing with his dad, I don’t want that negativity to come his way. He doesn’t deserve it… [He needs to] play somewhere where he can niche out his own identity,” Rivers told NBA Today.

Later, Rivers would respond to Jackson on X, formerly Twitter. “All smiles…I didn’t even have to fight my own battles with ignorance, yall corrected it for me!! Thank you for not siding with delusion. Have a blessed day,” Rivers wrote.

Austin Rivers Responds To Stephen Jackson Rant

Austin Rivers has responded to Stephen Jackon’s heated reaction to his comments on ESPN about Bronny James. “All smiles…I didn’t even have to fight my own battles with ignorance, yall corrected it for me!! Thank you for not siding with delusion. Have a blessed day,” Rivers wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Jackson had taken offense to Austin Rivers’ rationale behind why LeBron and Bronny shouldn’t play on the same team if Bronny makes the move to the NBA. “Difference is you trash, Bronny not. You can’t compare to him scrub. And your daddy not LeBron. Shut up,” Jackson wrote in the comments on an Instagram post reporting Rivers’ original comments.

However, as mentioned, it was a bizarre reaction given that Rivers had been arguing that Bronny doesn’t need the added obstacle of playing in his father’s shadow. “I don’t want to see Bronny play with [LeBron]… Him getting drafted & playing with his dad, I don’t want that negativity to come his way. He doesn’t deserve it… [He needs to] play somewhere where he can niche out his own identity,” Rivers told NBA Today.

Bronny James Struggles Despite Stephen Jackson Support

Furthermore, despite Jackson’s passionate defense, Bronny has not exactly been living up to expectations at the college level. While his sidelining due to a congenital heart issue must be acknowledged, Bronny has struggled to elevate his game. Bronny is currently averaging 5.9/2.9/2.6 off the bench for a floundering USC squad. His draft projection has gone from late first-round to being omitted from many mock drafts entirely. As much as Jackson may like Bronny, there is not a lot going on game nights to back up the defense.

It’s widely expected that if Bronny James doesn’t become a Laker this summer, LeBron will decline his player option year and follow his son to a new team. Prior to Bronny’s struggles at USC, one potentially floated destination was being drafted by Atlanta. One person who seemed excited by this was Hawks star Trae Young. Last summer, in response to an NBA Central post hypothesizing a LeBron-Bronny partnership on the Hawks, Young tweeted “Talk soon” in response. This immediately set off the rumor mill that the Hawks might push for a LeBron trade.

Where Will Bronny James End Up?

However, for the time being, LeBron is seeing out the year in LA. “LeBron won’t be traded, and we aren’t asking to be,” Rich Paul said in response to growing speculation that LeBron might be leaving the Lakers midseason. Of course, LeBron hasn’t helped quiet the rumors. Following a Lakers loss last week, LeBron posted an hourglass emoji to social media.

Bronny James Trolled For Wild Stat Line Versus UCLA

Bronny James has been widely mocked online after dropping a wild stat line for USC against UCLA. Bronny went 0-for-3 on the night, picking up his two total points from a pair of free throws. He also added one block…and one technical foul from said block. Bronny was called for the tech after yelling “Give me that sh-t” after putting down the monster block.

People were quick to roast Bronny for the performance as he continues to fall short of the hype that came with his freshman year with the Trojans. This is especially as USC, projected to finished second in the Pac-12 this season, are dead last in the conference with a 2-7 Pac-12 record. The team is 8-12 overall and have lost their last five games.

Lebron James Watches Bronny’s USC Game While Doing Media Interviews

Despite how he plays, Bronny can be secure in the knowledge that his dad will always be watching. LeBron James was a little more distracted than usual during his post-game media interviews on January 17 as he tried to watch his son Bronny take on Arizona at the same time. The first indication that James was not giving the media his full attention was when he rebuffed scrum reporters in the tunnel saying he had to go watch Bronny. While James did fulfill his media obligations, he would often look past the reporters to focus on the screen showing the USC game.

However, he focused a little more when one reporter asked him whether it was tougher to lose with the Lakers or watch Bronny and USC struggle. “Watching college basketball alone is tough. Then you add my son in there, it’s even … yeah, yeah, cause I’m … it’s hard to watch. It’s hard to watch. Yeah, I’m a dad, but also, love the game of basketball and college basketball, just, it’s like ten people in the paint at the same time. It’s very hard at times to watch. But USC’s a great program, Arizona’s a great program, you get a good opportunity to watch some good basketball in this game,” James said.

Bronny James Hears “Overrated” Chants” From ASU Students After Blowing Easy Layup: Watch

When you share the same last name as LeBron James, expectations are going to be sky-high. That is the challenge that the media, fans, and basketball savants are thrusting at Bronny as his young college career continues. Many saw him as a fairly high-level recruit for USC. However, the freshman is still trying to put it all together. Of course, coming into the season, Bronny had dealt with a lot of uncertainty after going into cardiac arrest during training. So, it is just good to see him get some run this year in what is shaping up to be a lost season for the Trojans.

At just about the halfway mark of the 2023-2024 campaign, USC sits at 11th in the Pac-12 with a record of 8-11 (2-6). They are also on a four-game skid. The respected program was ranked as the 21st best team in the country heading in. However, any expectations of reaching the March Madness tournament are all but over. The team is still desperately missing their two best players, Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier, to injury. But, even with some extra minutes being trickled down to Bronny, he cannot seem to find a rhythm.

Bronny James Is Still Growing

That was apparent this past weekend with another in-conference matchup with Arizona State on the road. They would go on to lose 67-82 and that snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Trojans for ASU. On top of the loss, Bronny also had a blunder near the end of the game. On a fast break, he had a gift of a layup but it missed. Moments after the play, the student section rained down “overrated” chants toward him. Vlad TV is credited for finding the clip above. Fans are going to want to see greatness, especially when you have a dad who is a basketball legend. But, it does not come as easy for everyone. Bronny still has a ways to go, and that is okay.

What are your thoughts on Bronny James missing an open fast break layup against Arizona State? Is he shaping up to be a bust if he gets drafted to an NBA team? How long will he stay in college, and should he stay for more than two years? Why do you think he is struggling right now? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Bronny James’ First USC Start Ends As A Scoreless Nightmare

Bronny James went 0-for-7 and only managed two rebounds and an assist in his first start for USC. James was elevated for the starting line-up as USC adjusted to compensate for a spate of injuries. However, the son of LeBron James made little impact in either half of the game, as Colorado slowly took over to take a 68-58 win. The loss drops the Trojans to 8-9 on the season and a lowly ninth in the Pac-12. In nine games, Bronny is averaging 5.2 points and 2.2 rebounds. He is yet to live up to his top-20 prospect billing.

However, things don’t get easier for USC. The team stays on the road for their Arizona swing, which includes No. 8 Arizona. The Trojans, projected to finish second in the Pac-12, have lost four of their first six conference games. This includes a loss to Oregon, who are 5-0 in conference play. According to the latest Bracketology from ESPN, USC is not currently a March Madness team.

LeBron James Sits Out Lakers Loss

Meanwhile, there wasn’t much for the James family to celebrate. LeBron missed his fourth game of the season through injury, sitting out a matchup against Utah. Despite Anthony Davis recording his second career triple-double, the Lakers were soundly beaten. Davis, who had six turnovers and shot 5-for-21 on the night, blamed himself. “Everyone did their job except me. I didn’t do my job. Obviously, Bron was out and everyone had to step up and those guys did. Except myself. So this one’s on me,” Davis said.

Like the younger James and USC, LeBron and the Lakers are now 2-4 in their last six games. The Lakers are 19-21 and now sit outside the playoff bubble. The team is 11th in the Western Conference and one game back from the 10th-place Rockets. The team now heads back to Crypto.com Arena for a four-game homestand, facing Oklahoma City, Dallas, Brooklyn, and Portland. LeBron is expected to return to the lineup in due course.

Bronny James “Finding His Groove” As He Throws Down Huge Dunk Against Cal

Bronny James is “finding his groove” according to USC head coach Andy Enfield as the freshman scored 10 in the Trojans’ Pac-12 home opener against Cal. “When he first got back, he was on a [tighter] minutes restriction and he [was] kind of antsy about what to do. But now he’s starting to get into his groove and starting to become the player that everybody knows he is,” Enfield said. James also added to his highlight reel with a thundering alley-oop dunk set up by fellow freshman Isiah Collier.

The Trojans snapped a two-game losing streak in conference play to grab an 82-74 win over Cal. Boogie Ellis led USC with 15 points as the team moved back to .500. The game against Cal was the first of three consecutive home games at home for the Trojans, with Stanford and Washington State both visiting the Galen Center over the next six days. The team will be hoping to ride the momentum of their Cal win, as it marked just their second victory in their last seven games. USC hasn’t won back-to-back games since beating Brown and Seton Hall in November.

LeBron James Wants To Start Streaming

Meanwhile, Bronny’s father LeBron recently suggested that he wants to start livestreaming his Madden games when he plays against other people. “Thinking of live streaming my @EAMaddenNFL games when I play. 🤔. Who should I stream with? Meaning which platform brand 👑,” LeBron tweeted. Of course, the Lakers star was bombarded with suggestions ranging from Twitch to Rumble to Kick to OnlyFans. Overall, people were very excited to see it happen.

LeBron would become just the latest athlete to start streaming. Packers running back AJ Dillon has gone viral in recent months for late-night Twitch streams of Farming Simulator. Dillon’s activities were particularly notable because he would often be seen streaming late into the night on days before the Packers had games. Would you like to see LeBron stream Madden? Who would you like to see him play against? Let us know in the comments.

Damar Hamlin Gets New Tattoo on First Anniversary of Cardiac Arrest Incident

Damar Hamlin received a tattoo of his heart hand gesture on his neck, commemorating the first anniversary of suffering cardiac arrest during a Monday Night Football game. The tattoo was done by Alexander Brenes, who captured the moment for Instagram.

Damar Hamlin made his return to the football field last year (Aug. 12) in a preseason matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. During his return, Hamlin registered three tackles in the 23-19 win. In the regular season, Hamlin has registered two tackles.

“It was super fun,” Hamlin said. “It was a great experience. Just another milestone and a step up just getting back to myself as far as in the football space and in the NFL.

“Just my first few plays in being pressures, and there’s my number being called. So, all of the jitters, all the nerves, that was like out the window right there, like right then and there. But it was good for me. It was able to get me going.”

Bronny James Uninspiring In Pac-12 Debut, LeBron Praises Bryce

Bronny James managed five points and three rebounds in his minutes-limited Pac-12 debut. A second-half rally made the final score look closer than it was, but Oregon thoroughly earned the win to open conference play. The Ducks nearly doubled up on the Trojans in the first half, holding USC to just 25 points before the break. Furthermore, no Trojan managed to reach 15 points as they fell to.500 with a 6-6 record.

Meanwhile, LeBron James was more focused on his younger son, Bryce. After Bleacher Report posted highlights of Bryce in a big win for Sierra Canyon game, LeBron reposted it. “Yessir!! He just working and striving for greatness! 🤴🏾,” the Lakers veteran added to the repost. As for Bronny, he remains in the Pacific Northwest. USC have another road game, this time against Oregon State, before their Pac-12 home opener. The 8-4 Beavers also lost their Pac-12 opener, falling to UCLA. The Trojans open at home on January 3 against California. It is unknown when the minutes restriction on Bronny will be lifted.

Kendrick Perkins Suggests Zach LaVine As A Playing Partner For LeBron James

Meanwhile, Kendrick Perkins declared that the perfect Christmas gift for LeBron James from the Lakers would be trading for Zach LaVine. “They need that third superstar. They need someone who can play at the perimeter, someone who can score 20 consistently.” In short, Perkins wanted the Lakers to trade for someone who could help take the pressure off LeBron, who turns 39 on Saturday. Injuries and offensive struggles have meant that LeBron has a high workload beyond his years.

LaVine is currently out with a foot injury that sidelined him in early December. However, he is expected back in early January. Before he went down, he was averaging 21 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists a game. That would make LaVine the third-highest scorer on the Lakers and the team’s 20-point scorer after LeBron and Anthony Davis. Whether they make this move remains to be seen.

Bronny James Still Riding The Bench As Pac-12 Play Begins

Bronny James will continue to play off the bench for USC as they open conference play at Oregon on Thursday. James has been limited to 16 minutes a game due to his ongoing recovery from heart surgery. Additionally, his talent level compared to the Trojan starting five is also a factor. Despite the idea that James would play as a 3-and-D anchor, he is 30% from three and 33.3% from the field. Some USC writers have argued that James was never meant to be a prolific scorer. However, most agree that 5 points a game isn’t going to cut it.

Entering conference play, the Trojans are 6-5, having ended a three-game slide with a win over Alabama State. Despite being projected to finish second in the Pac-12, USC struggled immensely across their non-conference slate and will need to address some serious issues if they want to live up to expectations come March.

Bronny James Falters While JuJu Watkins Soars

While James has been underwhelming in his return, the true freshman success story can be found in USC’s women’s team. Juju Watkins, the No. 1 recruit in the 2023 class, has been absolutely electric to start her college career. Watkins is second in the nation in scoring with 26.8 points per game. Her contributions were a major contributor to USC’s undefeated non-conference slate. The 10-0 run included a season-opening win over then-No. 7 Ohio State and has seen USC enter conference played ranked No. 6 in the nation.

However, the start of the Pac-12 slate brings with it USC’s toughest game yet. On Saturday, they face No. 2 UCLA in a game that could easily be a deciding factor in the regular-season title race. The Bruins are 11-0 and have notched ranked wins over UConn, Florida State, and Ohio State. Sophomore transfer Lauren Betts is having a huge breakout after seeing limited freshman minutes at Stanford. Betts also has the nation’s best shooting percentage, as the center is sinking 77.1% of her shots. However, UCLA also has the second-worst turnover rate in the Pac-12, something that could be key to a USC upset this weekend.
