DJ Akademiks Reacts To Seemingly Being Dissed In New Kendrick Lamar Song

Kendrick Lamar and DJ Akademiks could not be further apart when it comes to their feelings on Drake. The former is the self-proclaimed “biggest hater.” The latter has been described by many as the biggest Drake fan there is. DJ Akademiks let his bias shine through all throughout the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar beef, and it looks like the Candyman took note. Lamar just dropped off an untitled song, and in it he seemingly takes shots at the internet personality. It didn’t take long for Ak to panic.

There are lots of dense bars to get through on Lamar’s latest. The ones that seem most clear, though, are the ones fans have interpreted as being about DJ Akademiks. “Influencers talk down ’cause I’m not with the basic sh*t,” Lamar raps. “But they don’t hate me, they hate the man that I represent / The type of man that never d*ck ride ’cause I want a favor.” Ak is definitely an influencer, and has been accused of riding a little too hard for Drake over the years. The subliminals continue. “The radio personality pushing propaganda for salary,” he adds. “Let me know when they turn up as a casualty.”

DJ Akademiks Left A Panicked Comment On K. Dot’s IG

DJ Akademiks makes a living off being first to these surprise drops, so it wasn’t going to take long for him to hear it. He didn’t take it well. The internet personality dropped a comment on Lamar’s Instagram that made his discomfort with the situation crystal clear. “No no noooo,” he wrote. We get it. Being the target of a Kendrick Lamar diss has to be horrifying. That said, DJ Akademiks has been in this situation before. Lamar called out Ak by name on “6:16 In LA,” which dropped at the height of the Drake diss.

DJ Akademiks elaborated on his thoughts via during his Wednesday night live stream. The internet personality claimed that Kendrick Lamar’s decision to take shots at him was a mistake. “You can’t say there isn’t a game 2, then immediately drop a track seemingly baiting game 2,” he opined. He also fired shots back at K. Dot by mocking the rapper’s tendency for dropping on notable dates. “Drop a single,” he wrote. “No Round 2s. Just drop em hits.”

OVO Chubbs Likes IG Post Mocking ASAP Rocky’s New Drake Diss

OVO Chubbs has been riding with Drake for a decade. He’s appeared in videos and been spotted at parties with the Toronto superstar. He was even referenced by Kendrick Lamar on “Not Like Us.” The longtime OVO member has remained loyal to Drake, though, as evidenced by his recent social media activity. OVO Chubbs decided to like an Instagram post that poked fun at ASAP Rocky’s new single, “Ruby Rosary.” The single includes bars aimed at Drake, and like most people, Chubbs was not very impressed with what he heard.

@Keep6Solid made the initial IG post. It’s a pro-Drake account, as evidenced by the 6, and proceeded to lay into ASAP Rocky. The headline for the post made fun of both Rocky’s looks and his relationship with his more famous partner, Rihanna. The headline described the ASAP star as a “Metrosexual rapper and full-time kept man.” It also poked fun at J Cole, who was previously on Drake’s side before switching up. Cole contributed a verse to “Ruby Rosary,” confirming that he’s anti Aubrey moving forward. “J Cole is a slimeball,” the caption read. OVO Chubbs was seemingly onboard with both of these sentiments. He liked the post from his personal account.

OVO Chubbs’ IG Like Also Takes Shots At J Cole

ASAP Rocky’s bars are, admittedly, pretty weak. “Ruby Rosary” is a good song overall, and Cole skates, but Rocky stumbles when it comes to dissing Drizzy. Cut the sh*t, cut the lies, word to the wise,” he raps. “Who in your top five? Haha (F*ck your top five).” It’s clearly in reference to Drake, who has several top 5 bars under his belt. That said, nothing is really being said. It doesn’t get much better when ASAP Rocky tries to riff on Drake’s “Family Matters” and his “Buried Alive” interlude from 2011.

“I don’t get fresh step, b*tch, I’m buried alive,” Rocky raps. “I heard dawg talkin’ funny, like it’s Family Guy. Carin’ for n**gas like I’m Mary or Bob.” More nothing. It’s telling that Drake has become the loser of the 2024 rap beef when it comes to Kendrick Lamar. When it comes to ASAP Rocky, though, everyone agrees that Drizzy got the best of him each time out. OVO Chubbs didn’t go out of his way to bash his Harlem competitor, but his like made it clear that Rocky fell short.

Adam22 Clowns Joe Budden’s Rap Career In No Jumper Cypher: Watch

Adam22 is a podcaster by trade and a clout chaser by instinct. He knows what will generate views, and has been immensely successful at doing so. His approach has garnered criticism from other huge names in the rap podcast space, however. Joe Budden being chief among them. Adam22 and Budden do not get along, and the former decided to address their tension during the new No Jumper Cypher. Not only does Adam poke fun at Budden’s podcasting career, but he tears down his rap achievements as well.

It’s worth noting that Adam22 raps part of his “verse” with a flower beanie on his head. This is not to be taken seriously, and everybody involved knows it. Still, the podcaster gets his shots off. “Pump It Up the last time I heard Joe rap,” Adam22 spits. “That old a*s throwback finally got its Gold plaque… yall is only podcasting cause you got no other option.” He also throws in a dig about his podcasting ops being bums and “unable to eat at Sizzler.” Again, not a wordsmith by any means. Adam22 put out the verse knowing it would elicit attention from the hip hop community. And sure enough, it did.

Joe Budden Responded To Adam22’s Bars With Laughter

Joe Budden responded to the No Jumper Cypher shortly after its release. He took it about as well as one could, which is to say, he laughed it off. “Lol… Adam aside, it’s tough out here for a lot of folks,” he wrote. “Do everything you can.” Budden’s comments align with previous criticisms that he’s made about Adam and his approach to the culture as a whole. Budden feels as though Adam22 exploits hip hop for his own benefit without paying mind to the young artists he exploits. We’d list out the conflicts that the two men have had over the years, but we’d be need about 10,000 more words. It seems like they get on each other’s nerves every few months.

In May, Joe Budden claimed that he would wipe the floor with Adam22 in a fist fight. He didn’t try to be cute with his answer, either. He straight up told his co-hosts that he would demolish the other podcast titan. “I’d beat the dog sh*t out of Adam,” Budden stated. “I don’t even know if he has a dog. He would be tattoo-less.” Adam’s cypher is just the latest instance of shots being fired. It isn’t the first time, and it sure won’t be the last.

6ix9ine Drops Diss Song On Ex-Girlfriend And Singer Yailin La Mas Viral

6ix9ine is never far from drama. The rapper initially made waves for his outlandish appearance, and has done just about everything to stay in the spotlight. He knows that picking fights with other artists, and airing out dirty laundry on record is an easy hack when it comes to generating attention. He did it once again on September 4th. 6ix9ine decided to drop a diss track against his ex-girlfriend and fellow artist, Yailin La Mas Viral. It wasn’t a rush job, either. The track comes with a music video that seemingly gets into detail about the doomed relationship.

6ix9ine raps the entire song in Spanish, and adopts a more mellow sound than usual. The rapper known for his outlandish vocals and likewise fashion plays it straight. He’s even wearing a black suit. The grim nature of the lyrics are matched by the additional footage. The music video incorporates footage of the rapper and Yailin La Mas Viral when they were still together. The couple dated throughout 2023 before calling it quits in August. Yailin even joked about being single on Instagram following the split. 6ix9ine seems less willing to move on, based on the diss track.

6ix9ine Dated The Dominican Singer For A Year

The footage included in the video also sees 6ix9ine interacting with Yailin La Mas Viral’s son, whom she shares with rapper Anuel AA. It looks as though the couple got extremely close during their romance, and the lyrics, appropriately, reflect on what could have been. The relationship between 6ix9ine and Yailin was not without its bumps, though. The former was jailed in Yailin’s native Dominican Republic back in January. Daily Mail stated that 6ix9ine was locked up due to a domestic violence report made by Yailin’s mother.

Yailin La Mas Viral also dealt with legal troubles during their time together. A warrant was sworn out for her arrest in 2023. Ciber Cuba reported that the singer owed $25,500 to the New Decoración company for remodeling her apartment. 6ix9ine hopped on Instagram Live and tried stick up for Yailin despite the claims made against her. “I want to tell the audience not to believe everything that appears on social media,” he noted. “Especially from a country where there is no justice. It is very corrupt.” We will see if Yailin decides to issue a response to 6ix9ine’s diss.

Joe Budden Rips Yung Miami To Shreds For Laughing At “Pump It Up” Plaque

Earlier this week, Joe Budden received a gold plaque from the RIAA for his 2003 single, “Pump It Up.” While the feat is certainly one to celebrate, despite arriving 21 years after the track’s release, Yung Miami didn’t think so. She took to X to issue a shady response to the news, making it clear that she was not impressed.

Yung Miami reacted with a simple series of laughing emojis. Instead of engaging right away, Budden decided to bow out altogether. “It would be too easy,” he wrote. “Maybe tmw lol.” She then called him a bully, slamming him for laughing at other people’s accomplishments and suggesting she was giving him a taste of his own medicine.

Joe Budden Claims Yung Miami Would Be “Dead Last” On List Of Best Female Rappers

Now, however, he’s responded directly to the shade during an episode of his podcast. In a clip from the episode, he clarified that he doesn’t plan to disrespect Yung Miami or call her out her name, instead choosing to keep things professional. He went on to rip her career to shreds, claiming that on a list of the best female rappers, she would be “dead last.” Budden added that he didn’t expect Yung Miami to go after him like this, particularly considering issues with her label she admitted to on Caresha Please.

In the explosive season 2 premiere of her podcast, she revealed that her label told her they haven’t been seeing enough growth from her as an artist, which explains why she hasn’t put more music out. What do you think of Yung Miami clowning Joe Budden because his 2003 single just went gold? What about him dissing her in response? Who do you think is in the right? ASAP Rocky Catches Heat For His Dismissive Drake Beef Comments

ASAP Rocky and Drake exchanged a lot of shots this year, and they will probably send more each other’s way in the near future. This is especially true these days, as folks think that Drizzy dissed Rocky on the recent “It’s Up” and considering that the New York rapper will drop an album very soon. In fact, he already allegedly dissed his Toronto enemy on the single “HIGHJACK.” Regardless, what people are really talking about these days are comments from the A$AP Mob member about this feud, which basically dismissed this whole thing. This didn’t sit well with some folks, especially the OVO camp.

“You got to realize, certain n***as was throwing shots for years,” A$AP Rocky remarked about the Drake beef. “I ain’t in the middle of that s**t. That’s not how I retaliate right now. I got bigger fish to fry than some p***y boys. It is real beef outside. It is real. N***as getting really clipped and blitzed every day. N***as sniping n***as every day. That little kitty s**t ain’t about nothing.” Some detractors thought that Rocky tried too hard to sidestep actually engaging with this feud, whereas others took shots at his supposedly false street ties.

Fans Blast ASAP Rocky’s Words For Drake

But the biggest likelihood is that A$AP Rocky simply chose to focus on his album Don’t Be Dumb rather than the Drake beef. The 6ix God seems to be taking a similar approach these days, so we can probably expect some subliminal shots back and forth either way. After all, they love to shade subtly and not overtly, and they have plenty of reason to do so engagement-wise now that everyone is combing through tracks for potential disses. But DBD faced yet another delay, so we will have to wait a little more for this. Find critical reactions to this development down below.

Meanwhile, another bizarre Drake comment as of late came from none other than Kanye West. He dedicated “I Wonder” to him and Ian Connor at the VULTURES listening event in Korea, which confused many fans. Did Ye mean this shoutout as a diss or is he once again walking back his previous negative comments about his “Glow” collaborator? I mean, it’s too many options…

ASAP Rocky Finally Breaks His Silence On Drake Beef

ASAP Rocky’s new Billboard cover story is an expansive piece, which should come as no surprise. After all, he’s just as involved in music as he is in fashion and film these days, and his family life with Rihanna and their children supersedes all of that. But of course, there was no way that the outlet wasn’t going to ask about the Harlem creative’s beef with Drake, one of many stemming from a group of Kendrick Lamar-led artists dissing the Toronto superstar this year. While his thoughts definitely fulfill a fan-fueled need to learn more about their rift, his comments also make it clear that he considers this a largely irrelevant footnote when he’ll look back at 2024.

“You got to realize, certain n***as was throwing shots for years,” A$AP Rocky’s words on the Drake beef began. “I ain’t in the middle of that s**t. That’s not how I retaliate right now. I got bigger fish to fry than some p***y boys. It is real beef outside. It is real. N***as getting really clipped and blitzed every day. N***as sniping n***as every day. ASAP Rocky & Drake At The FIFA 14 Launch

Drake ASAP Rocky Beef Comments Hip Hop News

As such, it seems like A$AP Rocky’s pot shots at Drake on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Show Of Hands,” plus the ones that Drizzy for him on cuts like “Family Matters,” are just that to him: pot shots. They’re boastful but well-documented bars from two MCs who don’t like each other, but it was never going to escalate to the level of a full-blown battle. Perhaps Rocky’s next album Don’t Be Dumb will contain even more disses, but it’s clear that it’s not a focal point. It’s just lyrical content like any other in the rap game.

Meanwhile, for those unaware, A$AP Rocky and Drake’s beef might stem back to when the former first started dating Rihanna, leading up to their marriage. The fact that it seems like a petty exchange over women they’ve both been with and whether or not they’re dropping good albums makes it even more likely that not much will come from this feud. Again, we have to wait until Don’t Be Dumb to fully see, as the 6ix God may have dissed Rocky again on the recent “It’s Up” with Young Thug and 21 Savage. But if it does continue, their jabs will be nothing like the actual showdown with Kendrick Lamar, and neither lyricist probably wants to take it there at this point.

Playboi Carti Trolls Adin Ross By Including Their Phone Call In A New Leaked Track

Playboi Carti still hasn’t dropped a new album, and apart from his “officially shared” material over the past few months, plenty of unofficial leaks also surfaced. A recent unreleased track appeared online and raised many fans’ eyebrows for how it seemingly disses Adin Ross by using an alleged phone call recording of the streamer in the intro. As for the quality of the song itself, it’s basically a more low-key version of what you’d expect from this Carti era, but there’s not enough context to really tell whether this is a troll or a genuine diss. Either way, he’s definitely leaning into the bit, and we can’t imagine that Adin is too happy about this considering the money that the rapper finessed from him after their failed livestream.

Furthermore, this isn’t the first time that an alleged Playboi Carti leak has seemingly dissed Adin Ross and the higher-ups at the Kick streaming platform in the past. “I scammed a billionaire, woah,” he raps on an unreleased leaked version of “Type S**t” with Future, Metro Boomin, and Travis Scott. It’s a bit of a weird flex, but a notable line regardless.

Playboi Carti Includes Adin Ross Call In New Leak

Meanwhile, Adin Ross is not happy with Playboi Carti at all (for understandable reasons), and is even campaigning against his new music. He said that the Whole Lotta Red creative’s last “single” on social media, “KETAMINE,” is “trash” and “damage control” for all the new security footage that Adin released of their livestream moment. Of course, fans on either side have their reasons to clown their fav’s enemy, and most of them probably are just enjoying the antics and find the whole thing funny. But we doubt that things will ever get super serious between a content creator and an antisocial artist.

Don’t think Carti 2 is happening anymore,” Adin Ross expressed concerning his failed efforts to link up with Playboi Carti again. “I have a theory that Carti was just texting me to kind of just keep me in the position where I’m not gonna be on his bad side, where I’m on the internet talking crazy, if that makes sense. To get the heat off his name type s**t. I think I got played, but hey bro, it is what it is. Because I was texting his phone and he stopped answering out of nowhere. I have the warehouse footage. I’m about to just release it. Once I get the confirmation that we’re not doing part two. Is that blackmail? I mean dude, I kind of got scammed, so I’m blackmailing a f***ing scam so you can’t blame me.”

Haley Joel Osment Defends Kendrick Lamar After Confusing “Euphoria” Bar

Haley Joel Osment being a talking point in a 2024 rap battle was not on anybody’s bingo board. The actor was referenced by name on Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Euphoria.” Well, kind of. Lamar clearly references Osment, and the films he starred in as a child, but he seemingly confuses him with someone else. The someone being pastor Joel Osteen. “Am I battlin’ ghost or AI? N**ga feelin’ like Joel Osteen,” Lamar raps. “Funny, he was in a film called AI. And my sixth sense tellin’ me to off him.” Fans have tried to make sense of the reference, and Osment has finally given his two cents on the matter.

Haley Joel Osment talked about “Euphoria” during a recent AP interview. He made it clear that he doesn’t think Kendrick Lamar made a mistake with regards to his name. Osment’s reasoning? Lamar is too sharp a wordsmith to be that sloppy. “The way I’ve heard people talk about that and certain analysis that I’ve read about it,” he explained. “I think that it’s an intentional scrambling of my name and that other guy’s name because Kendrick’s too precise to just make a mistake like that, I think.” Haley Joel Osment does admit he could be wrong, but is confident in the rapper’s abilities. “I think he’s too precise,” he added. “I mean, I don’t know for sure and I’m not going to assume that he knows my exact name.”

Haley Joel Osment Doesn’t Think K. Dot Messed Up

Haley Joel Osment loved the reference. He was shooting a film in Ireland when “Euphoria” dropped, and was subsequently bombarded with messages from friends. “[I] got like a hundred texts in the middle of the night,” he recalled. “And I was like, ‘What is going on?!’” Haley Joel Osment isn’t the only Sixth Sense alum who is a K. Dot fan.

M. Night Shyamalan, the film’s director, talked about the “honor” of being referenced multiple times by the rapper. Not only does the film get a shout out on “Euphoria,” but Lamar quotes the iconic line “I see dead people” at the start of “Not Like Us.” “Someone in the office was like, ‘Oh, Kendrick just dropped something and it references one of your [movies],” Shyamalan told the Breakfast Club. “We kind of lightly know each other, and I did know [he was a fan]. He’s very gracious with me, and I love him.”

Kesha Promises To Diss Diddy On Re-Recorded Version Of “TiK ToK”

Kesha has made her distaste of Diddy’s allegations and actions very clear over the past few months, especially since her biggest song shouts him out uncritically. But that was before Sean Combs’ supposed (and his confirmed) crimes fully came into light, and while celebrating the song in question’s anniversary (“TiK ToK” came out 15 years ago in 2009) on Wednesday (August 7), she revealed that she would make sure this scandal wouldn’t taint the legacy of her track any further. Moreover, the Los Angeles native had previously changed the lyrics to the record to “f**k P. Diddy” instead of “feeling like P. Diddy” alongside Reneé Rapp during their Coachella performance (as well as other events), and it’s a change that she will make official on a re-recorded “TiK ToK” version.

“TiK ToK was the first single that I put into this world that had my voice AND my name credited!!!!” Kesha’s message about her now-Diddy-dissing cut began. “I remember making it fun and happy because that’s how I felt and wanted others to feel. What I’m so proud of is that’s how this song STILL makes me feel, through it all, and those are emotions I want all of us to connect to. 15 (!!!!!!) years later, I see this song as a snapshot into the way I saw the world at the time.

Kesha Will Include Diddy Diss In Re-Recording Of “TiK ToK”

“That girl was naive and wild and playful,” Kesha continued. “This song eternalizes a side of myself that I love very much, and now see I have to protect fiercely. The world has changed so much and so have I.⁣ I absolutely love the new lyric change. (Shout out to @reneerapp) Yes it is permanent. ⁣I will re-record it when I have legal rights to!

“Now, my first baby stands for so much,” Kesha concluded. “It stands for fiercely protecting fun and unadulterated joy, in myself and in others. The whole ride has been absolute insanity, but the JOY is still riding. ⁣I hope you all can find 3 1/2 minutes of play in this song and connect with your wild child-like joy [red heart emoji]. Thank you for making my life so magical animals, it’s one for the books! ⁣x.”
