Joyner Lucas & Conway The Machine Flex Their Lyrical Muscles On “Sticks & Stones”

Massachusetts rapper Joyner Lucas is a confusing rapper at times. He can truly blow you away with his technical ability. However, there are other instances where he comes across as bland and forgettable. Every artist has moments like that, but it seems that fans hold him to a higher standard. Other reasons for his inconsistencies are because of his projects and their rollouts. ADHD had way too many singles released ahead of it, leading to a fairly boring album listen. The same can be said about Not Now, I’m Busy.

In a lengthy November Instagram post, Joyner revealed that the album was in the works for about two years and was finished five months prior. However, due to the reactions that fans were giving to the singles, Joyner felt it was not a project that fans would enjoy. So, he decided to scrap that record that was expected to drop last year and has been reshaping the tracklist ever since. According to Genius, the songs that are rumored to make the final cut have been trimmed down to six, instead of seven.

“Blackout” with Future, and “Devil’s Work 2,” are currently not on the LP. One of the tracks that will take its place is “Sticks & Stones” with Conway the Machine. The song sees the production fit what the Buffalo MC is used to rapping over and Joyner does a solid job fitting in. On top of those changes we just mentioned, Not Now, I’m Busy is getting a brand-new cover art and official release date. The original artwork saw Joyner falling out of the sky with an exploding orange car. This new one has an orange color scheme, but the big change shows Lucas’s face in a bloody close-up. Fans should expect the tape to drop on March 22.

Quotable Lyrics:

I accomplished a bunch of s*** that’s way out of your reach
And I’m still not at my peak, screamin’ on the label, “All of them budgets gotta increase”
My project complete, yeah (This s*** finished)
Look, if it ain’t the Spade, this a bottle of Clicq’
[?] inside of my Greek, you know the model, make a million dollars, repeat (Ooh)
Got that dollar routine (Talk to ’em)

Conway The Machine, Westside Gunn, & The Alchemist Release Their Physical Copy Exclusive “Halal”

You would be hard pressed to find another rapper who had a more productive and successful 2023 than Conway the Machine. There are a lot of artists that constantly have new music ready, but not many can top the quality of the Griselda affiliate. It was especially incredible to see how the Buffalo native was able to squeak out two records within the last week of 2023. One of those two records was Hall & Nash 2 with Westside Gunn and The Alchemist. It was a nine-song tape; that is if you bought a physical copy. If you did you would be able to hear Conway the Machine on “Halal.”

Additionally, if you were able to snag either a vinyl or CD of the record, the album cover was different. You can see the alternate work up above. Now, everyone can hear this bonus track, as it is currently on YouTube. Conway kicks off “Halal” with signature crackly and gravelly flows.

Westside Gunn pops in for the second verse right after. The Alchemist brings a light piano-heavy instrumental that allows both spitters to effortlessly coast over it. These three have an undeniable connection with so many collaborations throughout the last few years. Be sure to check out “Halal” now.

Conway The Machine & Joey Bada$$ Go The Distance On “Vertino”

It seems like Conway the Machine always has a new track, EP, or album out every Friday. To some that can be very annoying. The reason why is because his voice and messages in his songs can get stale very quick. However, the Buffalo native always finds a way to keep things interesting even with the frequent release pace. That can be said about Conway the Machine’s brand-new single “Vertino.”

He grabs Joey Bada$$ for this one and both sound great over this dark boom-bap instrumental. The beat is not anything we have not heard Conway on before. But, it just sounds good. Especially at the very end when the grimy guitar loop rolls in. Both New Yorkers rap extensive verses while Joey handles the chorus.

This is the second single that will eventually be on Conway’s upcoming project WON’T HE DO IT: Side B. Of course, this is a sequel of sorts to one of his many 2023 releases, WON’T HE DO IT. We got our first taste of it a couple of weeks ago with the song “Give & Give” with production credits from Cool & Dre. That was paired with another track “Mutty,” in a two for one situation.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Vertino,” by Conway the Machine and Joey Bada$$? Does this song get you excited for Conway’s upcoming record WON’T HE DO IT: Side B, why or why not? Is this the better of the two tracks to be on the project? Would you want to see a Joey and Conway collab album? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Conway The Machine Releases Big Ghost Ltd. Edition Of “Latex Gloves” With Lloyd Banks & 38 Spesh

In early September of last year, legendary New York MCs Conway the Machine and 38 Spesh combined their talents for a collaboration tape. Cleverly named Speshal Machinery, the all-killer and no-filler 10-song tracklist featured strong tracks front to back. Both Conway and Spesh were on their A-game, bringing gritty and intelligent wordplay throughout. Production was also a highlight, especially on tracks like “Latex Gloves.”

It was one of the few songs previewed before its project’s September 9th release date. “Latex Gloves” featured production from 38 Spesh and Jimmy Dukes, as well as a verse from Lloyd Banks. With it being one of the stronger cuts from the stacked tracklist, how could it get any better? Well, look no further than the “Big Ghost Ltd. Version.”

This is not the first time Conway has gotten the talented producer to redo one of his tracks. Last year, they worked together to recreate “Made Bosses,” “Last Week,” “Unruly,” “Been Through,” and so many more. It seems they are remastering each song from Speshal Machinery, including “Latex Gloves.” What is cool about these collabs, is that Big Ghost does a great job giving you something totally different without it doing too much. He is known to bring darker sounds into the fold and that is the case here. There is a cool West Coast nod with the sharp synths as soon as 38 starts his verse. “Goodfellas” was also redone a couple of weeks ago, so maybe there will be a Big Ghost version of the album instead of just having them as singles.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Latex Gloves (Big Ghost Ltd. Version),” by Conway The Machine, 38 Spesh, Big Ghost Ltd., and Lloyd Banks? Do you think this version is better than the original, why or why not? Is this the best song from Speshal Machinery? Is this Conway’s best project from last year? Who had the best verse and why? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. There’s diamonds and emeralds and rubies in my jewelry box

Walkin’ ’round your b**** crib in my drawers and Louis socks
Got me confused, dawg, y’all thought who’d be stopped?

Conway The Machine Drops Excellent Two-Pack “Give & Give/Mutty” With Production From Cool & Dre And Conductor Williams

Conway the Machine loves to drop frequently as most know and that is fine by us when he is dropping stuff like this. That “stuff” is two new tracks with production from some of the very best in the business. The Griselda superstar teams up with Cool & Dre for “Give & Give” and Conductor Williams on “Mutty.” Apparently, they will be a part of Side B version on one of Conway’s many projects from 2023.

According to Genius, they will be on his lone solo release WON’T HE DO IT. What is really cool about “Give & Give/Mutty” is the stark contrast between them. The Cool & Dre collab is more upbeat and it complements Conway’s monotone delivery well. Then, when it is the Conductor’s turn, things slow down and the Buffalo native rides a more dusty and low-key beat.

He is bringing some top-tier rhyming schemes and bars on each one which is no surprise. The music video also does a great job of painting a vivid picture of the lyrics he pens about expensive cars and other amenities. He appears to be in Venice, Italy. Overall, these are two standout moments in what should be another jam-packed year for Conway. Again, we are all eyes and ears for it.

What are your thoughts on these brand-new singles, “Give & Give/Mutty,” by Conway the Machine, Cool & Dre, and Conductor Williams? Which one is better and why? Are these cuts some of his best in recent memory, why or why not? Do you think a Side B of WON’T HE DO IT needs to happen? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. It’s gory gory, my aura more of a horror story

They tried to cut off my power but I kept soarin’, soarin’

Conway The Machine & Swizz Beatz Have A Collab On The Way, Griselda Alum Shares

If you still caught up with hip-hop releases during the 2023 holiday season, you probably heard Conway The Machine’s newly released collaborative tape with Westside Gunn and The Alchemist, Hall & Nash 2. Moreover, you’ll be very pleased to know that he apparently doesn’t plan to slow down his prolific release schedule at all in 2024. Not only does the Drumwork label boss have his artists to push and support, but he’s also cooking up plenty of material on his own. During an Instagram Live session on Friday (December 29), he previewed a hopefully upcoming collaboration with none other than legendary Ruff Ryders (and beyond) producer Swizz Beatz.

Unfortunately, that snippet is pretty much all the information that we have about this cut: no title, no release date, and no project it’s set to appear on. Hopefully that changes soon as both artists think of what their next moves will be. The one and only Swizz Beatz, for example, recently shared that he has enough DMX material in the vault to craft a posthumous album. It’s unclear whether he’ll actually go through with it, though, as those releases tend to be pretty difficult, let alone controversial if done with the slightest disrespect or lack of care.

Conway The Machine Previews Swizz Beatz Collab: Listen

Other than Swizz Beatz and The Alchemist, Conway The Machine linked with the likes of Big Ghost Ltd., Wun Two, Conductor Williams, and many more beatsmiths for either single releases or full-length project team-ups. Of these, we’d highly recommend you check out the Williams-led CONDUCTOR MACHINE. With the Griselda-adjacent sound becoming so popular and imitated, there’s nothing like an OG pairing to refresh its quality. That’s exactly what this duo achieved over just a few tracks, and hopefully quality continues to trump quantity.

Meanwhile, Swizz recently joined Timbaland at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards to announce that Verzuz is making a return. If the drumless/Griselda-affiliated camp were to participate, which two MCs of this style would you like to see face off in one of these battles? Let us know in the comments section down below. In addition, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Conway The Machine and Swizz Beatz.
