Tommy Richman Under Fire For Rap Grammy Submissions After Claiming He’s Not Hip-Hop

Earlier this month, Tommy Richman took to Twitter/X with a controversial declaration. “I’m not a hip hop artist,” he wrote simply. The message sparked a response from DJ Hed, who was quick to call Richman out. “Fasho. So every Hip-Hop station playing MDB or DIAL should stop today. Thanks for the Heds Up [fist emoji],” he wrote at the time. “Glad I got the PSA before I did my radio mix. I now have 2 open slots. What should I play? (From an artist proud to be Hip-Hop).”

This prompted Richman to clarify. “I’ll say again, Im thankful for everything. I’m saying I don’t wanna be boxed in. I grew up on hip hop. But I’m a singer,” he went on to explain. Regardless, the comment still didn’t sit right with many, who think he might have been better off not saying anything at all.

Tommy Richman Earns Backlash Over Grammy Submissions After Controversial Hip-Hop Remarks

Now, some of this backlash has come back up to the surface, as Richman recently submitted his hit song “Million Dollar Baby” for Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2025 Grammys. Social media users in the NFR Podcast‘s comments section are calling him out for seemingly changing his tune now that awards are on the table.

“Thought he said he wasn’t hip hop ?” one X user writes. “Bro not a rapper tho @DJHed until he wants a better shot at a Grammy,” another claims. What do you think of Tommy Richman submitting “Million Dollar Baby” for Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2025 Grammys despite previously saying he’s not a hip-hop artist? Do you think he has a chance of winning? Do you think he deserves the backlash he’s receiving for it or not? Ray J Eviscerates Jaguar Wright For Allegations About Whitney Houston, Beyonce & Jay-Z

Amid Jaguar Wright’s many salacious allegations, she’s also questioned Ray J’s relationship with Whitney Houston and speculated on her death, theories and statements that Ray was absolutely appalled by. “First off, I want to say Whitney Houston was a very special person in my life.” he told The Reality Check. “She has a very special place in my heart. […] I’m not going to talk s**t about you, Jaguar. But when you are creating these stories and pushing narratives with no real basis, it’s clear that you’re doing some kind of attention-chasing or you’re doing this s**t for clout. Or just for negative destruction, right? Is that about seeking the truth? You want to stir up the pot for your own gain?

“I mean, really, we got to move away from this type of destructive energy and focus on building, not tearing down,” Ray J continued. “Our culture needs more truth and integrity, not chaos and confusion. People were listening. You got our attention. Is what you’re saying true? Because this s**t is outrageous. But I came to the conclusion that once I seen a story about me, and what you had to say about me and situations in my past, that is where I started to understand that you are totally fabricating stories and you are a complete liar. So that means that I have no respect for you and nothing you’re saying. So now I’ma go further. How dare you disrespect Jay-Z and Beyoncé? Jay-Z is an OG. Don’t ever disrespect Beyoncé.

Ray J Speaks On Jaguar Wright

“Because now that you’re lying on me, and I know for sure that all the s**t you’re saying is a lie, now you want to go for Beyoncé?” Ray J alleged. “Jaguar, you done f***ed up. Jaguar Wright, you done f***ed up. You know you f***ed up, don’t you? You know you f***ed up. Jaguar Wright, you done f***ed up. You done f***ed up. Because now you lying on me. I know a lie when I know I didn’t do something, right? You know somebody’s lying about you when you know the facts. Jaguar, you have lied about the wrong person. And I’m not talking about me. Because I don’t give a f**k about what you said about me, because that’s nonsense.

“What I do care about is you talking about Beyoncé,” Ray J concluded. “I don’t like when people talk about Beyoncé. We not gon’ do that. You done f***ed up. Jay-Z is an OG. Brush that s**t off. And I’m sure Beyoncé gives no hells and no f**ks. But Beyoncé has never done nothing to nobody. I haven’t seen Beyoncé make one mistake. And you know what? That’s somebody that’s really trying to make sure that her image is in the forefront and be a role model for all these young girls and all the people that’s [inspired] to be like her or to follow down a path like that. That’s a path you want to follow down. Why are you trying to f**k that up? Why are you lying on Jay-Z and Beyoncé? How do we create a solution so these Jaguar Wrights don’t exist in our new [or perhaps ‘news’] society?

DJ Akademiks Alleges That Halle Bailey & DDG Broke Up A Long Time Ago

A lot of people are talking about DDG and Halle Bailey calling it quits after years of romance, although we don’t really have many explanations as to why. However, a lot of fans also speculated that the two have been rocky for a while, especially given previous scandals. Well, DJ Akademiks recently took to his livestream to address the issue, making the bombshell claim that they split up a while ago. Even though he didn’t choose to provide proof or read into the situation too deeply, he did recall a recent conversation with the Michigan rapper.

“[A] breakup letter, if you want to call it,” DJ Akademiks said of DDG’s breakup message. “I understood it. You know why I understood it? Because what y’all haven’t known is that they have been separated for a while. This is facts, I’m telling you this as fact. They have been separated for a while. You just didn’t know. A lot of people on The Shade Room didn’t know. They’re usually pretty quiet, they keep their business to themselves. I don’t know if she’s f***ing with other people, but she, you know, she’s living her life. She’s around, she’s having fun. Hanging around celebrities.

DJ Akademiks On Halle & DDG

“There’s videos and pictures as proof, I won’t even put it up,” DJ Akademiks continued. “Because they on DDG’s a**, that n***a can’t do a motherf***ing thing. ‘Cause the whole perception of the whole Internet is that they’re still together. So you know why DDG had to post this s**t? To let everybody know, ‘If eventually you see me take a picture with another woman, even if I have no interest in her, I’m not cheating on this woman that y’all love so much.’ And I said, ‘Goddamn.’ And I told him yesterday. I said, ‘Man, it’s sad that you got to let these hordes of obsessed Stans – that’s Stans over a relationship – know that the relationship’s over.”

Elsewhere, DDG is butting heads with Joe Budden over the Halle Bailey breakup, so we’ll see how this situation continues to evolve in the media. For now, it looks like the theories are just getting started.

Luke Bryan Speculates On Why Beyonce Isn’t Getting Her Respect In Country Music

Many Beyonce fans have a bone to pick with the country music community, specifically with the lack of prizes and nominations at events like People’s Choice Country Awards and the Country Music Awards this year. Moreover, they believe that she’s not getting the respect she deserves only because of her usual association to other genres, as well as claims of racism. After all, COWBOY CARTER has proven to be culturally, critically, and commercially successful. However, country artists have their own perspective. During an appearance on Andy Cohen’s podcast, star Luke Bryan theorized as to why this disconnect might exist, and what the Houston superstar could do to change that.

“It’s a tricky question because, obviously, Beyoncé made a country album and Beyoncé has a lot of fans out there that have her back,” Luke Bryan suggested. “And if she doesn’t get something they want, man, they come at you, as fans should do. I’m all for everybody coming in and making country albums and all that. […] A lot of great music is overlooked. Just because she made one … just ‘cause I make one, I don’t get any nominations.

Luke Bryan Speaks On Beyonce

“Everybody loved that Beyoncé made a country album. Nobody’s mad about it,” Luke Bryan continued. “But where things get a little tricky – if you’re gonna make country albums, come into our world and be country with us a little bit. Like, Beyoncé can do exactly what she wants to. She’s probably the biggest star in music. But come to an award show and high-five us and have fun and get in the family too. And I’m not saying she didn’t do that… But country music is a lot about family.”

Ironically enough, Luke Bryan will host the Country Music Awards this year, his fourth appearance as the ceremony’s guide. Of course, Beyonce could continue to make country music as she sees fit – and with whoever she wants – while showing off her love of Levi’s jeans. Yet the way that Bryan speaks on the matter could parallel how other communities feel about artists that are not like them engaging in their craft. There’s also a long and complicated history about the exploitation of Black genres and art forms that is too important for this sole article to cover. But it’s a worthy question to ask.

Orlando Brown Mocks Lil Wayne While Addressing Super Bowl Halftime Show Controversy

Everybody has a hot take of their own about the Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl halftime show debate. However, no matter what choice you would’ve made if you were in charge of the selection process, we can all agree that we don’t need to disrespect either artist to make our arguments. But Orlando Brown is different. During a recent appearance on Cam Capone News, he gave his take on the whole situation and revealed his thoughts on Jay-Z’s (alleged) decision to purposely pick K.Dot and omit NOLA native Weezy despite Super Bowl LIX taking place in his city. But while doing so, the actor mocked the New Orleans legend and posited that he would be a poor performer.

“I think that Jay-Z made the best decision ever,” Orlando Brown’s remarks on Lil Wayne began. Then, he proceeded to imitate the rapper’s nasal, warbled, and mumble-heavy vocal tone and delivery. “What the f**k is that, bro?” Brown continued. “‘Put that s**t on stage!’ *laughs* ‘That’s hot!’ When you listen to [“A Milli”] today, it sounds like, ‘*gibberish*.’ If you actually go back and listen to the record, it’s just like, ‘What the f**k was he saying? He’s high. On pills.’ *laughs*.” At least he actually knew the “A Milli” lyrics…

Orlando Brown Wouldn’t Have Picked Lil Wayne For The Super Bowl Halftime Show

On the other hand, here’s what New Orleans native Big Freedia told TMZ concerning the Super Bowl halftime show debate. “I don’t think that it was just, you know… People don’t really know, I guess, whose decision it was to have the headliner or whatever,” he shared. “And I think that, you know, me on the outside looking in, I think that Apple was the one who was able to pick the headliner because of that spot that Apple holds for the halftime show. A lot of people blaming Jay-Z, a lot of people blaming this one and that one. I think that it could be a collaboration effort for Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar to perform together. Who knows, you know, where the show might end up?

New Orleans is definitely sad that Lil Wayne is not the headliner,” Big Freedia continued. “I think that they should have had some Southern artists for sure on the ticket. You know, I think the Cash Money and No Limit family should’ve definitely been involved. But who knows what’s going to happen with the days ahead? I think [Kendrick inviting Wayne to perform] would be a great gesture. And I think it would be a nice thing for Kendrick Lamar to do. I think he would definitely, you know, get his love from Louisiana and from down South if he was to make that happen.”

Boosie Badazz’s Daughter Claps Back At His Criticism Of Her Sexuality

Boosie Badazz consistently draws backlash for his lack of support concerning the LGBTQIA2+ community, even when it concerns his family. For those unaware, he was Yung Miami’s latest guest on the Caresha Please podcast during REVOLT World 2024 last weekend, and footage from it hit the Internet around Friday (September 27). During their conversation, the Baton Rouge rapper explained why he doesn’t allow his openly lesbian daughter Poison Ivi to bring her partner into his home. When the former City Girl asked why, he expressed fear over his daughter’s sexuality “contaminating” the rest of his children. In other words, Boosie wants to shield his kids from homosexuality and queer identities.

“It was nothing,” Boosie Badazz said of the matter. “I mean, she still can’t bring her situation to our house, my daughter’s grown. Because I don’t want it to contaminate her other… It’s a generation we raising. I don’t want her to contaminate her other six, seven sisters who look up to her. I want them to bring me grandchildren the right way. If I want grandchildren the right way, that’s what I’ma stand on. If I don’t want my other little girl to look at daddy and say, ‘What’s that, daddy?’ to somebody she looks up to? It’s not gonna come around. My grandfather didn’t let it, my daddy didn’t let it and I didn’t let it.”

Boosie’s Daughter Responds

Now, Poison Ivi has responded to her father Boosie’s new comments via Instagram Live. “Emotionally, mentally, you suck,” she clapped back. “You suck, bruh. And I know you suck with that cause you’d rather go to the Internet and have a conversation with the Internet about your kids before you come to us and have that conversation.” Ivi acknowledged him as a provider and said that she doesn’t want to “disrespect” him because he’s not “a bad father.”

“I’m not finna get on here and go against the grain and go against my daddy,” Poison Ivi continued. “Nobody finna make me do that. But it’s like, you making me do that, they not even making me do that. You making me do that. You steady speaking on me, you steady. Like, I would respect if you just say, just one time, just say, ‘My daughter know how I feel about that, can we move on to the next question?’” In a 2023 DJ Vlad interview, Boosie said he and his family still love her despite their intolerance of her sexuality.

Dwyane Wade Divides Thirsty Fans And Dismissive Haters Over New Cover Shoot

Dwyane Wade is far more of a divisive pop culture figure than he should be, but he’s still got plenty of supporters looking past the bigoted backlash to his LGBTQIA2+ allyship. If you need proof of that, look no further than the reception to his latest CR Men Fashion Book photoshoot for its cover. Some fans are lusting over the basketball superstar in the comments section, whereas others are making fun of his style and of his previous life choices. There’s a lot of discrimination to unpack, a lot of thirsty comments, and also plenty of debate within the comments section.

Furthermore, Boose Badazz most recently offered his conflicted thoughts on Dwyane Wade, specifically about his nail care brand. “I don’t even got to say nothing,” he said of sexuality rumors that the brand caused. “The world is going to say it. […] I don’t know. I mean… He part of the movement. I mean, I don’t like to say too much about those people because I don’t want that to be in my motherf***ing… When people think of me, they think of that. A lot of people do, but… I just, you know, he do what he do. He feel like that’s how he support his… It make me shake my head. Because, you know, I don’t like that, bro. When… I don’t know. He might be living through… I don’t know, I don’t know.”

Dwyane Wade’s Newest Cover Shoot

Elsewhere, Shaq recently revealed how an argument with Dwyane Wade resulted in an NBA championship. “D-Wade, our first argument was in the Finals,” he told Draymond Green on the Warrior’s podcast. “We go down 0-2. I’m declining as Shaq. I’m going through a divorce. I’m not Shaq. My first three guys are terrible, awful. So I pulled D-Wade in the room and said, ‘What the f**k you gonna do man?’

“‘Motherf***er, you want to be the man, what the f**k you gonna do?’” Shaq recalled. “I wasn’t trying to fight; I was just asking questions. He had a look of relief like, ‘Oh, I can?’ So yeah, motherf***er, I got four people on me.’ And he said, ‘Okay, Shaq.’ And he went off.” As you can see, Dwyane Wade turns any form of pressure into diamonds.

Young Dolph Murder Trial: Prosecutors Explain Why Alleged Mastermind Was Not Tried

The jury presiding over the trial for the murder of Young Dolph heard closing statements from lawyers on Thursday (September 26), but these remarks left some lingering questions. Most importantly, the court did not hear from the attack’s alleged mastermind Hernandez Govan. Instead, Justin Johnson (the alleged gunman in the case) was the only one who stood trial, as Cornelius Smith – the other alleged gunman – confessed to the murder in testimony on Monday (September 23) and stated that Johnson was his accomplice. On the other hand, Govan was expected to testify against his codefendant Johnson, but never took the stand.

Prosecutors in the Young Dolph murder trial had some interesting explanations for this. “I don’t want to go into too much detail,” Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy expressed to journalists on the scene. “But not every potential witness that we might have is necessary in a case. It’s not always necessary to bring everything you have to bear in order to prove everything beyond a reasonable doubt.” Johnson’s lawyer Luke Evans proposed that Govan did not testify because his side of the story would not have favored the prosecution.

Young Dolph Trial Livestream

“I don’t have the ability to wave a magic wand and give him a reduced sentence if he comes in and testify for me,” Evans reportedly remarked to jurors. “So he’s to my exclusion, to Mr. Johnson’s exclusion and to your exclusion. And if this is a truth-seeking function, why didn’t the state call him?” However, the prosecution in the Young Dolph case dismissed this argument. “He is a defendant,” Shelby County Deputy District Attorney Paul Hagerman stated while defending Govan’s right to not incriminate himself. “He is not a missing witness. That would be be insane.”

Johnson, Smith, and Govan faced first-degree murder charges, whereas a fourth accomplice (Johnson’s brother Jermarcus) pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder charges. While the court did not try them alongside Johnson, Smith and Govan inked no formal plea deals. Smith claimed that he and Johnson carried out a $100K hit on Young Dolph (which Govan allegedly helped organize) at the behest of Yo Gotti’s brother Big Jook, who was murdered in Memphis in January. No arrests have emerged in that case. As of writing this article, jurors will begin to deliberate this afternoon.

Drake Called Out For Top5 Support By Alleged Murder Victim’s Family

For a couple of different reasons, Top5’s release from prison drew a lot of controversy online. Of course, a big and obvious one was how he threatened Kendrick Lamar and Metro Boomin while livestreaming with DJ Akademiks shortly after returning home. But a larger point of contention is how the Toronto rapper (real name Hassan Ali) claimed via social media that Drake paid for his legal fees. For those unaware, he faced trial for the fatal shooting fo 20-year-old Hashim Omar Hashi. Earlier this week. a judge determined that various pieces of evidence were inadmissible in court, so the case stopped there.

However, while Top5 thanked Drake for this, he reportedly edited the post afterward to remove any mention of him. Many believe that this case is one of mistaken identity, as Hashi studied accounting and had no verifiable gang ties. Now, the OVO mogul received some scathing criticism from the victim’s cousin. “Zero clue this was even a thing,” they shared on their Instagram Story. “This s**t hit like a blow to the stomach […] THIS IS THE WILDEST MOVE. WHAT THE F**K ARE YALL DOING @champagnepapi #JusticeForHashim.

Drake Gets Harsh Criticism For Supporting Top5

“Thank you @champagnepapi your version of justice means Hashim’s sister had to watch her brother’s murderer celebrating on TV,” they continued against Drake. “He insisted if that tells you anything about the [caliber] of people we’re dealing with here – during her honeymoon. When I came back from Portland, they told me @ovo40 was one of the good guys, he was really tryna find a solution for what’s going on in the city. THIS IS THE SOLUTION?! Any and everything he does hereafter, every mom that has to hear him sing abt murdering their kid — THAT’S ON YALL!! The blood is on your hands.

As for Top5’s case, he was not the suspected gunman, but rather a passenger alongside whoever shot Hashi from a vehicle. He continues to stand by his innocence in this case and denies any and all ties to any gang. “An innocent man just came home. I hope they find whoever they did that. R.I.P.,” the Toronto MC told press outside of the courthouse after his release.

Usher Scrutinized For Diddy Relationship After Mysteriously Deleting All His Twitter Posts

Usher has fallen under a lot of social media scrutiny over the past few months due to his connection to Diddy, as they had a collaborative relationship from very early in the former’s career. Given the Bad Boy mogul’s current incarceration and federal indictment against him, many raised their eyebrows at a recent social media development. Moreover, the R&B star or someone from his team seemingly wiped all of his Twitter posts from his page, leading to many theories that this has something to do with Sean Combs’ scandal. However, there’s nothing explicitly hinting at that or suggesting it either in the legal space or online, so we’ll have to see if he elaborates on his social media pages.

Still, some highlighted posts remain at press time, including tour announcements, ticket sales, some NFT stuff apparently, and a Twitter Spaces post from earlier this month. On the other hand, Usher’s Twitter account says that it still has 7,112 posts as of writing this article, but none of them are visible. This is all very odd and unexplainable, so hopefully someone sheds more light on the situation, whether it’s the Super Bowl halftime performer himself or his team.

Usher Seemingly Deletes All His Twitter Posts

For those unaware, Usher’s name is rumored to have been redacted in one of the first lawsuits against Diddy, and this caused their entire relationship to fall further into question. “I got a chance to see some things. I went there to see the lifestyle, and I saw it,” he said back in 2016 about living with the Bad Boy mogul when he was just 13. “It was pretty wild. It was crazy. They called me Baby Boo. He wasn’t disciplinary, he was letting me be a young man. He was always a family member from afar, so I never felt a disconnection. I will always look at him like a brother.” The singer also stated that he would in no way allow his children to go through the same experience.

Meanwhile, Katt Williams is the latest celebrity to react to the Diddy arrest. He believes that the executive will end up snitching on everybody. A lot of people are very curious about this possibility, as part of what makes this scandal so horrifying is just how large the scope of celebrity influence is and how many people this situation seemingly affected and continues to affect. As such, whenever someone like Usher does anything mysterious, folks can’t help but tie it back to this controversy.
