For over a year, Consequence and Talib Kweli have been entangled in an on-again, off-again beef. The feud originated from a 2022 incident when Consequence revealed his continued support for Kanye West, even after the rap superstar engaged in a months-long tirade of anti-Semitic comments. Kweli responded by sharing images of his Black Star cohort Yasiin Bey in an altered version of Kanye’s “White Lives Matter” shirt, instead reading “White Lies Matter.” From there, the pair continued to exchange words on social media, eventually leading to Consequence airing out his frustrations on wax.

Consequence Released A Track Titled “Beef Forever”

The beef between Consequence and Talib Kweli seemed to reach a boiling point last week when the Queens-born lyricist took to a record to flame his opponent. The song, titled “Beef Forever,” clocks in at just over 90 seconds and features a host of jabs directed at Kweli. On the track, Cons name-checks Kweli’s ex-wife and references sexual harassment claims made against Kweli by rapper Res in 2018. The track features lyrics such as “You probably so afraid of that left from Eque, and that’s the reason why them other girls got MeToo’d. You never been more than a Mr. Me Too.”

After hearing the record, and, crucially, seeing that media personality DJ Akademiks had platformed the diss, Kweli responded via Instagram, accusing both parties of being right-wingers with a questionable history of sexual misconduct.

Talib Kweli Claims Consequence & DJ Akademiks Have Formed An Alliance Against Him

Kweli’s Instagram post included a video of DJ Akademiks agreeing with comments made by former president Trump, as well as a screenshot of Akademiks’ support of the diss record. After humorously nicknaming the duo “DJ Wackademiks” and “Dexter,” Kweli continued to call the new song trash and imply that the pair stand on an alliance with amoral figures such as nazis and rapists.

Kweli continued dissing the pair in additional posts, including one that establishes a bizarre and disturbing pattern of behavior from both Ak and Cons, again maligning them as part of a boys club rife with sexual impropriety. In these posts, Kweli actively exposes photos of the pair hanging out with Tekashi 6ix9ine, who has faced accusations of sexually assaulting a child.

Talib Kweli Exposes DJ Akademiks For An Alleged Sexual Assault

In the midst of this beef, a woman has stepped forward to accuse DJ Akademiks of sexual assault, lending further credence to Talib Kweli’s claims. After sharing several posts targeted at Consequence and the media personality, Kweli blocked the pair in an effort to end the discourse. Consequence saw this move as an act of retreat and shared a screenshot with the caption, “HE TAPPED OUT @talibkweli Blocking Pages Like A [B****].”

The Feud Shows No Signs Of Ending

In the days since the release of “Beef Forever,” the pair have actively exchanged words on social media, with no new ground covered. Both Consequence and Talib Kweli have continued to throw shots at each other, including each rapper claiming that the other has failed at their music career. Further, they argued that the other relies on this beef to maintain relevance. While some prominent rap figures have weighed in to mediate, it doesn’t seem like either party is interested in squashing this war of words any time soon.

Consequence Calls Out Kanye West: ‘NEVER Again Say You Are ALONE’

Consequence has some words for Kanye West. While assisting in the promotion of Ye’s YZY PODS shoes, Consequence had to “get something off my chest.”

Seemingly hearing Ye’s rant last week, Consequence wanted to address Ye’s belief that he is operating alone.

“NEVER again say in public or to others in private that you are ALONE,” Cons wrote. “That’s the biggest SLAP IN THE FACE you could give to your TEAM

“Guys like me, Don C, Monop, GL, Doe,IBN,Arrow and even Virgil (RIP) have given you big portions of our Adult lives so that we could all be ‘The Bulls’”

He later would write, “You can be the one with the Money And even the Power But I will always need my RESPECT.”

Consequence would then call out Ye’s recent apology to the Jewish community: “If you can apologize to the Jewish community in Hebrew…Then maybe you should apologize to a few of your guys in English”

Kanye West has dropped his first post-Adidas footwear. Kanye dropped the shoe on Yeezy.com for a retail price of $200. The new shoe is calf-high and in all-black, available in only three sizes.

Before the shoe’s release, Kanye West issued an apology to the Jewish community after his name was written on a missile that is being used in the Hamas war. Ye issued his apology for antisemitic remarks and Hitler’s support in Hebrew.

The statement was shared on Ye’s Instagram account, apologizing for his offensive remarks over the past year. A translation of the apology reads:

“I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions, it was not my intention to hurt or disrespect, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused. I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity.”

According to TMZ, Haim Gozali, an Israeli mixed-martial artist, wrote his name on the weapon and has a history of celebrating the death of Palestinians.

The message sent with Gozali’s tweet reads: “@kanyewest you don’t like us jewish. So we don’t like you too!!!!”

The message on the missile reads: “Kanye West Flying to Gaza Haim Gozali.”

Consequence Reworks “BLOOD STAIN 2”

A little over a year ago, Queens, New York rap legend Consequence released another collaboration with Kanye West. The single, “Blood Stain,” did not have a Ye verse, but he provided another fire beat per usual. Consequence also bodied it with his tremendous command of the mic and dazzling verses. The song was received so well that the 46-year-old decided to release a sequel titled, “BLOOD STAIN 2.” It brought on the likes of Miami rap icon Rick Ross and R&B singer Amerie.

The second version was put out on streaming services almost a year later on March 17, 2023. However, a final rendition is on YouTube, but this time it is without Rozay’s opening verse. Instead, it only includes Amerie’s intro where she sings, “From the blood stain (ooh) / I know just one thing / There’s love and there’s pain / I’mma rise through my veins, yeah / It’s from the blood stains (ooh).” Then, it hops into the second Consequence verse and then back to Amerie’s outro.

Is Consequence’s Song Still Heat?

Overall, does this edition of Consequence’s track still sound just as good? Well, we will leave that up to you guys in the comments. However, the production is still great, nothing has changed there. Ye and Consequence have so much chemistry so that part is flawless. He rides the beat perfectly and Amerie, who was singing the background vocals in the original song gets the full credit here and they sound wonderful. Her part is very catchy and adds a nice atmosphere to a more overall aggressive tone.

Consequence Almost Signed To Diddy Until Q-Tip Intervened

Though Consequence serves as Kanye’s de facto spokesperson these days, he has a storied career that goes back decades. He made his debut in 1996 on A Tribe Called Quest’s Beats, Rhymes and Life before delivering his debut album, Don’t Quit Your Day Job! In 2007 through G.O.O.D Music. But, before then, there was a time when Diddy had a deal for him on the table. Even though he could’ve been on the same label as Biggie, Q-Tip intervened.

Cons recently sat down with Vlad TV where he discussed his dealings with ATCQ and the potential deal with Bad Boy. Though his appearance on Beats, Rhymes And Life admittedly changed the dynamic of the group, Q-Tip insisted on Consequence’s presence on the album. “I actually had a deal on the table with Puff,” he said, “I never got the paperwork because Q-Tip intercepted it and just said, ‘Yo, I’m putting you in the group.” He recalled, “I see you got a deal — good enough for me! Let’s go!’ But I did get a verbal interest from Puff during the B.I.G. and Mack campaign.”

Consequence & Bad Boy 

During an interview with HipHopDx, Consequence explained how Q-Tip’s shout-out on Craig Mack’s “Get Down” remix sparked Diddy’s interest. At the time, he was known as “Ray Tip,” which Q-Tip name-dropped during his verse. When Cons dropped “Living It Up,” Diddy was keen on inking a deal with him. “When Q-Tip played ‘Living It Up’ for Puff, Puff was like, ‘Yo, lemme get playboy, I’ll sign him right now. He’s fire,’” he recalled.

However, Q-Tip’s plans for Consequence were far different than Puff’s. Instead of having him join Bad Boy, he wanted him to become a member of Tribe. “[Diddy’s interest] led to Q-Tip and I having a conversation, which led to Q-Tip deciding that instead of me signing to Puff, he wanted me to join A Tribe Called Quest as the new member. Which, you know, probably one of the craziest ways anybody could start their career in the ’90s. I was blessed,” he continued. However, Consequence maintained a strong relationship with Diddy since, even working with the Bad Boy head honcho and former signees The LOX on “Whatever You Want.” 

Mike Dean Calls Consequence A Clown

Mike Dean is a legend when it comes to the music world. Overall, he has production credits on some of hip-hop’s greatest tracks and albums. Moreover, he is mostly known for his work with Kanye West. Although he has also worked with Travis Scott, The Weeknd, and more, it’s Dean’s work with Ye that is always mentioned. These days, however, it should be noted that Dean isn’t messing with Ye like he used to. After all of the anti-semitic ramblings from the artist, Dean has taken a step back to pursue other endeavors.

On the flip side, there are others who have remained 100 percent loyal to West, regardless of his Nazi fetish. One such person is none other than Consequence. Cons has steadily been working with Ye over the last few decades, and he has no plans of quitting. Consequence even dropped a song called “Disappointed” where he clapped back at those who have abandoned Ye. Interestingly enough, a fan suggested that he should have Mike Dean do some tinkering on the song. However, the fan was met with a less than enthusiastic response as Cons wrote “Nah I’m straight on dat.”

Mike Dean Doesn’t Hold Back

Dean was shown the screenshot of this conversation, and he was very quick to reply. “I’m good too. Thanks,” Dean wrote. Subsequently, a fan replied by saying, “cons has been acting so weird recently, I cant take him seriously.” Dean then replied to that with a clown emoji. Needless to say, Dean does not think highly of Consequence. Overall, Cons has been erratic at times, and his recent comments about those who have abandoned Ye are certainly eyebrow-raising. Either way, these two probably won’t be working together, anytime soon.

In terms of Dean’s career, he has a lot going on right now. He is consistently working on new projects. Moreover, we’re sure he has been hard at work with Travis Scott on UTOPIA which is set to drop fairly soon. He can certainly survive without the approval of Consequence. Consequence Airs Out Former G.O.O.D Music Artists On “Disappointed”

Ye basically dismantled his empire in a matter of months. Though his behavior since 2017 has been largely problematic, most people, including his inner circle, have been willing to work with him regardless. Unfortunately, things took a turn last year following controversial appearances on Drink Champs and other right-leaning podcasts where he spewed anti-Semitic comments alongside a known Holocaust denier. Everybody from fans to friends and family members distanced himself as brands like Adidas cut him off.

Ultimately, it appears that this strained his relationship with artists on the G.O.O.D Music roster. Pusha T, the former G.O.O.D Music president, confirmed that he isn’t part of the label. A month prior, Def Jam said the Ye-founded label was no longer part of their roster. This led close associates like Consequence to air out their feelings towards the signees, claiming that they turned their backs on Ye. “Does Pusha T have a right to distance himself from situations he don’t want to be in? Yeah. He a man. Do those two have grievances behind the scenes that are not being spoke about? Yes, they do,” Consequence explained of Pusha T and Kanye’s relationship.

Consequence Is “Disappointed” In G.O.O.D Music Artists

This week, Consequence addressed his issues with the G.O.O.D Music camp on his new single, “Disappointed.” The song is expected to land on his forthcoming album, NIce Doing Business With You. The effort finds Consequence speaking on his disappointment with numerous members of the G.O.O.D Music camp who turned their backs on Ye when things got rough. “When we in the crisis, you could see whose ungrateful/ The whole label ran instead of having Ye’s back,” he raps on the song.

He elaborated on his decision to release the song on Instagram, explaining that he’s been extremely vocal in the press about his displeasure with numerous signees. Once again, he calls out those who previously signed to Ye for supposedly abandoning him in a time of crisis. “If you were only around for the G.O.O.D. times then you were never on OUR team to begin with…,” he wrote. Consequence Recalls Beanie Sigel Protecting Kanye West Against Chain Snatchers

A story that Beanie Sigel first told over a decade ago is receiving a co-sign from Consequence. The rapper and producer recently caught up with The Art of Dialogue to revisit highlights of his career. Within the conversation also arrived behind-the-scenes tales of Cons and his peers—including one about Sigel saving Ye from getting his chain snatched.

“Ye hit me the same night in the situation with the girl. I think it might have been a chick named Sydney or some sh*t like that. He took her out,” said Cons. “You know, n*gga one-two’ing. Listen, n*gga running around with a Roc-A-Fella chain on. You know what that sh*t do for your p*ssy rate?”

Cons then shared that the chain West was wearing came from Dame Dash. “He had the sh*t off of Dame neck, so he had the sh*t with the Cuban in the sh*t, ice just shining,” he recalled. “N*ggas seen that man in there and was like, ‘Yo!’ N*ggas was at the Chelsea Diner on 23rd street. N*ggas hit n*ggas with the motherf*ckin’ Raekwon and Ghostface skit. ‘Word? What do we have here?’”

“I was in Queens. I woulda had to get on the train with the gun and all that sh*t.” Cons also said. However, he was glad that there was a nearby recording studio. “But you know, fortunately, Baseline wasn’t but five blocks away. They came over and held a n*gga down. I always f*cked with them n*ggas for that sh*t. They ain’t have to.”

When Sigel first delivered the tale all those years ago, he suggested West “feel threatened.” The State Property star said he told the wanna-be theives that “nothing was going to go down” as long as he was there. Consequence Says That Kanye Thought His Career Was Over After Taylor Swift VMA’s Incident

Kanye’s Taylor Swift VMA’s incident is one of the most talked about and infamous moments in hip-hop history. The incident even caught the attention of former President Barack Obama who called Ye a “jackass” for getting on stage and saying Beyoncé should have won. The backlash Kanye got from the incident was overwhelming, causing Ye to go into isolation for over a year while he crafted what he called his “apology” album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. While most people look back and laugh, and even agree with Ye, at the time, it looked like Ye’s career might’ve never recovered. According to Consequence, Ye even thought his career was over after the incident.

In an interview with HipHopDX, Consequence shared some insight into Kanye’s mindset after the incident, and thought that his actions cost him his career after “Power” failed to garner the same attention as other singles like “Gold Digger,” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” and “Stronger.”

“To be 100 percent honest, ‘Power’ is ‘Power’ now, but that was the first record off that cycle and ‘Power’ was kinda the first time it didn’t go all the way,” Cons said. “It didn’t do what ‘Gold Digger’ did, it didn’t do what ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ did, and it didn’t do what ‘Stronger’ did.

“So it was kinda like, ‘What we gonna do?’ We ain’t got no out-the-gates smash. We got a single and they playing it, but it wasn’t that one. That’s how G.O.O.D. Fridays come about.”

He added that this situation made Kanye change his rollout strategy, and ended up creating G.O.O.D. Fridays, where he would release a new song every Friday until MBDTF released.

“It doesn’t eradicate the Taylor Swift incident. It’s not big enough to K.O. that. Brands ain’t gonna forget that, touring ain’t gonna forget that, so forth and so on. So which put Kanye in a corner, and he came out flying with G.O.O.D. Fridays.”
