Headie One, Stormzy, & Tay Keith Unite For High-Profile Collab “Cry No More”

Headie One and Stormzy, two UK veteran rappers are some of the more prominent voices in the drill scene across the pond. In fact, they have a combined 17 years plus of experience and their undeniable chemistry shows up whenever they collaborate. Pretty soon, Headie One will be dropping his new project The Last One, so to hype it up, he just put out a new single “Cry No More.”

According to Genius, the prolific veteran will have it out by June 14. So far there have been two singles released ahead of it. One of them is of course “Cry No More,” and the other is “Martin’s Sofa.” That one is a bit peculiar, since it came out back in January of 2023. In terms of collaborations between Headie and Stormzy, this is now their third ever song.

Also in the fold for this track are high-end producers Tay Keith and Pooh Beatz. Both have crafted up some of the biggest trap bangers here in the states. But they are dabbling in UK drill in this case and it goes over well. Headie One spoke with Complex why he was so happy to work with both of them and why this is one of his favorites from The Last One. “This is one of my favorites from the album. I loved the sample and 808s straight away when Tay and Pooh played it in the studio. Stormzy went crazy on it, too.”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Cry No More” by Headie One, Stormzy, and Tay Keith? Is this one of Headie’s strongest tracks as of late, why or why not? Does this get you excited for his upcoming album The Last One? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Take a look at these diamonds wrong, then the mandem gon’ turn you sprinter
I do the Uno reverse, might ski all summer, do beach in winter
I just laugh when they say that I can’t go higher, I’m a frequent flyer
My last album’s cold, but my new one’s fire, I might call it Maya
I got back pain and I got neck pain ‘cah I got the weight of the game on my shoulder

Stove God Cooks & Stoupe Link For Intimidating “We Ballin Again”

Stove God Cooks is always impressive when he drops a new single or a feature. However, the underground New York rapper from Syracuse is someone we have been waiting on to drop a new album. It has been over four years since we got his debut project Reasonable Drought. Even then, it was not even a solo project. It was a collaboration with fellow underground New Yorker and lyricist Roc Marciano. But there is a ton of optimism that maybe some time this year, the Babygrande Records signee will come through with something truly spectacular. The reason why we think that is because of the steady stream of quality singles.

2024 has already been one of his most productive years since starting out in 2020. Stove God Cooks was essentially ready from the beginning with “Melo Chip and a Brick.” The excellent jazz rap cut with dirty horns courtesy of Conductor Williams, and the hungry rapping from SGC all amounted to something rewarding. Then, he came through with “Carbone,” with production from Stoupe on March 1.

Listen To “We Ballin Again” By Stove God Cooks & Stoupe

For “We Ballin Again,” Stove God’s latest offering, Stoupe joins him again. For us, we prefer this over “Carbone” because the instrumental is haunting, and Cooks’ bars are intimidating. He also delivers better flows with animated adlibs, and the awkward chorus is not there from “Carbone.” Be sure to run it up with the link above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “We Ballin Again” by Stove God Cooks and Stoupe? Is this his best song as of late, why or why not? Which element of the track did you find to be more enjoyable and why? Do you think he is getting ready for a new album soon? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Snoop Dogg Surprises Everyone As Tha Dogg Pound Reunites For Bouncy “Smoke Up”

Just hours ago, word came out that Tha Dogg Pound, could be up to something exciting. Numerous reports, including from us, discovered that Snoop Dogg was resharing some clips from other rap icons and current stars all asking similar questions. “Dog, I gotta question: what happened to Tha Dogg Pound? I heard they broke up, is that true? That’s what I heard.” Those were the words of Swizz Beatz, but others such as Tyrese Gibson, Flavor Flav, and NLE Choppa were sending in the same inquiries. Well, we have now come to learn that those FaceTime calls were being compiled for a single from Tha Dogg Pound called “Smoke Up.”

It all makes sense when you watch the music video below. They were all chopped together before Snoop finally comes in and shuts down the breakup rumors. “Damn, everybody sayin’ the same s*** huh. Well, check this out. F*** what you heard.” It then cuts to a G-funk banger with the trio sporting matching tracksuits.

Listen To “Smoke Up” By Snoop Dogg & Tha Dogg Pound

Snoop, Kurupt, and Daz Dillinger sound extremely hungry over the hard-hitting instrumental as they call out all the people saying the group was finished. It has the ultimate 90s feel and this one of the best posse cuts we have heard so far. After the song ends, it seems there is another snippet of some other track and an interesting outro. It involves dolls of Snoop, Michael Myers, and The Joker; yes you heard that correctly.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Smoke Up” by Tha Dogg Pound and Snoop Dogg? Is the start of something bigger for Snoop and the rap group, why or why not? Who had the strongest performance on the track and why? What are your thoughts on the music video? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Myaap & Chicken P Are “Actin Up” On Their New Single

One of the dominant lanes of hip-hop right now is trap rap without a doubt. A subset of the long-running subgenre that has become increasingly more popular is ratchet rap. The female MCs have grown this area quite substantially over the past couple of years or so. Artists like Sexyy Red, Sukihana, Erica Banks, Stunna Girl, and City Girls, are just a handful of them. Someone you will want to add to that list is Myaap. She hails from the unsuspecting city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and she has been gaining some steam recently. The last and only time we have covered her work happened back in January.

Myaap worked alongside MG Sleepy for a quirky trap cut called “I Ain’t Hidin.” It featured one of the catchier cadences we have heard all year, and it is one we encourage you give a try. As for “Actin Up,” Myaap is teaming up with another up and comer, Chicken P. Where we think “I Ain’t Hidin” works for us is the creativity and carefree nature.

Listen To “Actin Up” By Myaap & Chicken P

“Actin Up” feels more like a carbon copy of what Sexxy Red is doing right now. That of which is the nonchalant, booty shaking club bangers. While Myaap is certainly not the only artist to present her art in this way, deviating from her avant-garde-like style might be something to reconsider. This is not a bad song by any means, but it could get lost in the shuffle.

What are your thoughts on “Actin Up” by Myaap & Chicken P? Is this the best track she has released as of late, why or why not? Where do you rank this song amongst the rest of her entire discography? Do you think she has what it takes to thrive in the rap game? Is she the hottest rapper out of Wisconsin right now? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Myaap. Midwxst & DC The Don Reunite For Reflective Single “FIRE”

If we had to name artists that impressed us thoroughly in 2023, it would be a pretty long list. One of them we would have to include would be midwxst. He is not necessarily a new kid on the block, but he definitely snuck up on us. Last year, the Indiana multi-hyphenate went and dropped his debut album E3 and it saw him operate in the lanes of hyper pop, R&B, hip-hop, and etc. He really went for it all and it paid off. Fairly soon, he will be following that up with another project sometime this year and to promote it, midwxst is back with a new single “FIRE.”

This is not the first track that is rumored to be on BACK IN ACTION 4.0. In late February, midwxst dropped “mistakes” with 9lives, which was a cut about toxic relationships. Similarly, “FIRE” explores those themes, but also sees him reflect on how he has been struggling to feel happy with himself. He is also having a hard time admitting his faults, especially when he says, “I’ve had problems since I was a youngin’ / Need to cut out the lies and the frontin’.”

Like “mistakes,” midwxst has decided to tap a guest. This time fellow emo rapper and singer DC The Don is joining him. These two have a solid work history together, featuring on a couple of songs for each other. While their voices do sound similar back to back, DC does pen a solid verse. “My ex-b**** just wanna be famous / ‘Cause she a crash-out, hit ninety while she lane switch / Afraid to die, but she don’t wanna die nameless (Ooh).”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “FIRE” by midwxst and DC The Don? Is this the best track from either rapper as of late, why or why not? Does this get you excited for midwxst’s upcoming project BACK IN ACTION 4.0? Is this their best collaboration after hearing this? Quotable Lyrics:

You know what they say, “Play with fire, you get burned”
Come away with nothin’ from the lessons that I learn
I been runnin’ ’round in circles, I been stuck at every turn

Ruin everything I touch, sometimes, I feel like I’m a germ
I’m not good at listenin’, no, I don’t like to come to terms

Strick & 6LACK Make It Clear They Are Top-Tier Men On “COME ALIVE”

Strick continues to prove to people that he can consistently go toe to toe with the best in the industry. The North Carolina R&B singer has been able to score collaborations with names like James Blake, Young Thug, Skepta, Ty Dolla $ign and so much more. The YSL signee has been keeping fans waiting for about two years for another new album, and a new one might be on the way shortly. We say that because Strick is back to working with another R&B veteran 6LACK for a new single “COME ALIVE.”

This is his second single of the year, and it follows up “KISSES MAKE SURE” with his mentor, Thugger, and James Blake. It seems like this next album could be stacked with big features. As we mentioned, this is Strick and 6LACK’s newest song together and its now their second. They previously worked on “Desire” back in 2019 off of The Machine, Vol. 2.

“COME ALIVE” sees both passionate singers on this ballad hyping themselves up as being a sought-after man in the dating world. Strick says even though this woman he really likes is trying to find someone else after he messed up, she still cannot do better. “You come alive when I’m inside you, girl / What else I gotta do to remind you, girl? / N****s ain’t like me, they ain’t even tryna change your world.” You can check out the toxic love single with the link above.

1999 WRITE THE FUTURE & Jean Dawson Make Perfect Sense On “Fit Check Freestyle”

1999 WRITE THE FUTURE and Jean Dawson have been flying under a lot of people’s radars consistently. Both have been flourishing in the experimental side of hip-hop, as well as the alternative genre. Which is why their marriage here makes so much sense. For 1999’s latest single, they have decided to finally tap Jean Dawson for a collab called “fIT chECK fREEsTYle.”

The jack of all trades collective has been tearing it up with unique team-ups for the last several months now. It led to 1999 dropping their debut project hella. Rich Brian and the 88rising label have done some tremendous work getting this idea off the ground quickly and it led to some of our favorite songs of the year in 2023. As for Jean, he has continuously impressed, even this year, especially with his “New Age Crisis” single.

It seems that 1999 might be getting ready for a possible deluxe of hella, or just another project entirely. This is now their third single past the album, and they have worked with names like TiaCorine and Deb Never. “fIT chECK fREEsTYle” mixes a whole plethora of sounds and textures, from guitars, to drums, a trap instrumental, and everything in between. It is extremely progressive but it is not too much on the ears. It all flows seamlessly from one sound to the next.

Brother Ali & UnJUST Drop Two More Promo Singles With “Worthy” & “Gauntlet” Featuring Roc Marciano

Brother Ali is one of the more intriguing prospects in the underground conscious rap scene. The longtime Wisconsin artist has an intricate pen game and understated delivery. He likes focusing more on the words rather than the cadence, which is highly commendable. Brother Ali is doing more of the same great stuff on two new singles, “Worthy” and “Gauntlet.”

Both of these Brother Ali tracks are produced by unJUST, as have the last three singles. All five are out to bring hype to the rapper’s forthcoming record Love & Service, his first in three years. The project is due on April 26 and to our knowledge, we know of one feature. That would be Roc Marciano, who actually features on “Gauntlet.” For those wondering where he dropped the former and “Worthy,” Brother Ali dropped the Roc collab on Apple Music only, and the solo track on Spotify.

At the bottom there is just one sample of what Ali is bringing to the table. If you want to hear the rest of the great talent behind the mic, check out “Worthy” and “Gauntlet” on their respective platforms.

What are your thoughts on these brand-new singles, “Worthy” and “Gauntlet,” by Brother Ali, unJUST, and Roc Marciano? Which track is the better of the two and why? TOBi & Mick Jenkins Bring Some Top-Tier Writing To The Table On “Forgot We Were Seeds”

TOBi and Mick Jenkins are easily some of the most underrated MCs in the game as we speak. Both are able to write some top-flight raps, all while bring their distinct personalities to every track they lay down. The Nigerian native and Alabama-bred artists are teaming for just the second time in their careers, but you can tell they have effortless chemistry regardless. Speaking of which, the last time they were on the same song happened in 2021 with “Off The Drugs.” These two are once again rekindling their relationship on lyrically-focused TOBi single called “Forgot We Were Seeds.”

The last time we spoke about TOBi was for his 2023 album PANIC. That ended a three-year drought in between projects. For 2024, he is already off to a fast start, featuring on two singles “For Anybody” and “Back For Me.” So, “Forgot We Were Seeds” is TOBI’s first solo release. Outside of Mick Jenkins bringing tons of firepower to this song, the extremely-talented Dahi, formerly DJ Dahi, is laying down a funky boom bap instrumental.

As we mentioned, this song is filled with slick bars from both TOBi and Mick. The chorus also is excellently written too, “They tried to bury us and forgot we were seedsStay down through the lowest,” TOBi sings. It’s a hot girl summer ’cause we had ’em all winter ah… / They hate the world woke ’cause they love when you sleep n****,” he raps on his verse. These are just a few of the gems sprinkled throughout the track, so be sure to listen for yourself above.

Yung Miami & Skilla Baby Are On That “CFWM” Energy: Listen

Yung Miami has been dealing with a lot of noise in her life mainly due to her troubled man Diddy. However, she has not been in the clear either. The femcee was handed down a lawsuit for copyright over “Act Bad,” a collaboration with Diddy and Fabolous. She did not appreciate how that all went down, saying, “I’m so tired of the internet & ppl f***ing with me everyday!!!” Furthermore, her and her City Girls bandmate JT were also at odds for a minute before eventually making up on X.

Clearly, there is a lot on Yung Miami’s mind and she may have just vented those frustrations on “CFWM.” It is an all-new single that dropped today and it features Detroit’s own Skilla Baby. This is the first these two have come together for a track and it is all about feeling beautiful and confident. It is a self-affirming anthem for the ladies and Miami definitely delivers the energy.

There is a possibility that this could be the start of the rollout for her solo project. JT is rumored to be dropping her own sometime in 2024, while Miami has been pushing the Yams era on her social media. It is a way of spelling out her hometown of Miami, but it is also the mindset she has going forward. You can stream “CFWM” with the link above.
