Lil Baby Previews New Music After Young Thug Teased Comeback Collab

Lil Baby is working on a new album, and though it’s been a long time coming, fans recently got a couple of reasons to re-energize their excitement. For example, he previewed new music during a performance at the Don’t Fall In Love festival in San Bernardino, California on Saturday (November 2). The “Options” rapper’s new track will apparently appear on his next project, and it’s a slow trap banger with a fast flow switch-up and shimmering chimes. It’s not the most unique sound in the world, but it’s great to hear him in this mode. Of course, fans will wait until the new album to make a judgement call, but regardless of whether you’re liking it or not, there’s another new music hint that will demand your attention.

Following his release from jail, Young Thug tweeted the following at Lil Baby on Sunday morning (November 3): “Wham let’s drop one on these rats peter.” Baby responded with a heartfelt message. “I missed you mf !!” he shared via an Instagram Story post. “Welcome home my brudda! Thank god you able to get back to the fam in good health and spirits! Wish ya none but billions jack! #whateverwhamsaygoes.”

As such, it seems like Young Thug and Lil Baby will team up for a collab soon, and fans can’t wait to hear the former back in the booth after such a long time without truly new music. Sure, BUSINESS IS BUSINESS last year was great, but that was more of a vault collection and not wholly new material. Also, fans are particularly interested due to a viral theory that Thugger shaded Gunna with this tweet. Baby’s been allegedly throwing shots at the YSL MC for allegedly “snitching” with his plea deal almost two years ago, and he’s allegedly responded in kind. But considering that Thug requested to maintain his working relationship with Wunna while negotiating his probation conditions, these mixed signals are in dire need of clarification.

With that in mind, take all that discussion with a grain of salt. As for Lil Baby, this proved to be a hectic year for him, whether for a lawsuit from a music video shooting or his Vegas arrest earlier this year. Hopefully this new music, in any capacity, gets him right back on track.

Lil Baby Responds To Young Thug With Heartfelt Message Amid Possible Gunna Shade

Young Thug got out of jail this week following his plea deal in the YSL RICO case, something which has provoked a whole lot of conversations in the hip-hop world and beyond. Today (Sunday, November 3), Thugger himself stirred up the pot a little with a pretty interesting tweet that both excited and confused fans. “Wham let’s drop one on these rats peter,” he posted, referring to his colleague Lil Baby and a possible collab on the way. Fans have their theories as to what this message means, particularly the references to “rats” and whoever “Peter” is. Before getting into that too deeply, Baby himself responded to this and to the Atlanta MC’s freedom via an Instagram Story post on Sunday.

Moreover, fans think that Young Thug might have been throwing shade at Gunna with this tweet at Lil Baby, since he also took a plea deal in the YSL RICO case almost two years ago. Many assumed that he was a snitch, including the It’s Only Me rapper himself thanks to what fans perceived as multiple alleged lyrical shots. In fact, some fans think that the One Of Wun artist responded to these bars as well through subliminals of his own. But fans’ real confusion stems from one of the conditions that the judge granted Thug while determining the guidelines for his 15 years of probation.

Via his lawyer Brian Steel, Young Thug asked to be able to continue to collaborate with Gunna as label mates, even though another condition was that he couldn’t associate with YSL affiliates. The judge approved this, and this mixed signal is what has fans asking questions. Young Thug is celebrating his release from prison, taking to Twitter to break his silence and offer his first public statement on the matter following his in-court apology. “Real plea deal jack!” he posted, and while there are many different possible interpretations of this, we also recognize that it’s probably not that deep. However, it was Thugger’s tweet on Sunday (November 3) that really sparked fans’ interest. “Wham let’s drop one on these rats peter,” he shared. For those unaware, “Wham” refers to frequent collaborator Lil Baby, seemingly teasing that they will drop a collab as possibly the first post-prison release material.

Given this hint, a lot of fans immediately got to speculating, especially when it comes to another frequent collaborator of Lil Baby and Young Thug’s. Gunna took a plea deal almost two years ago, and Baby seemed to join in on people calling him a “snitch” over this. As such, a lot of people assumed that this indicated how Thug feels about his YSL colleague. But things might not be so simple when you consider one of his requests concerning his probation.

It’s important to note that the One Of Wun artist advocated for his Atlanta mentor’s freedom, and that he denied any snitching claims.

Also, you may have seen a viral clip of a fake, A.I.-generated Thugger “first day out” verse that praises Gunna, but listeners quickly debunked that. It’s no secret that Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby have made some great music together. Unfortunately, however, it’s unclear whether or not they ever will again. Back in 2022, he unveiled his album Baby On Baby 2, and threw some serious shade on “BOOGEYMAN.” Essentially, he alleged that he slept with Meg right before she was shot by Tory Lanez.

“The day before she said that Tory Lanez shot her, I was f*ckin’ on Megan Thee Stallion,” he raps. “Waited to say that sh*t on my next album/ Hit it the day before too.” He was also previously called out by Meg for retweeting a joke about the shooting. Now, DaBaby seems interested in teaming up with her again despite this, as he thinks that none of her other collaborations live up to what they’ve created in the past.

Late last week, Rod Wave unveiled his anxiously awaited sixth studio album, Last Lap. The 23-track project boasts just a few guest appearances from Rylo Rodriguez, Lil Baby, and Lil Yachty. The latter two rappers join the Florida-born artist for the song “F*ck Fame,” which sees them delve into the trials and tribulations that can come along with fame.

The track is grounded by a mellow beat and features candid bars about fake friends, losing loved ones, and more. Overall, the song puts each artist’s talent on full display, and fans are here for the collab. “Ion expect a lil yachty and rod wave feature but ts hard,” one YouTube commenter notes. “Damn this combo fire,” another says.

Last Lap arrives just in time for Rod Wave’s tour in support of the project, which is scheduled to begin later this week. Moneybagg Yo and Toosii will accompany him on the North American leg of the tour. Moreover, the former recently revealed the reason why during his latest interview with PEOPLE. Of course, these two have a pretty long history together, and it’s one that they’re looking forward to continue writing together. For example, Tha Doggfather will be a part of the multi-hyphenate’s Piece By Piece LEGO biopic. But Snoop revealed how this collaborative track, more than being another timeline point in their journey, actually inspired him to change how he stamped his own legacy in hip-hop when it comes to female representation.

“[Pharrell] made me do that song,” Snoop Dogg expressed concerning “Beautiful.” “I would never do a song like that in the ’90s, but he tapped me into the side that I really never paid attention to. He was like, ‘You’ve been rapping about women and calling them h*es and they love you. When are you going to take time to show them that you love them and appreciate them?’ I was like, ‘I get it … put the beat on.’ Since then I’ve been on more of a ‘respect my queen‘ rather than use derogatory words to explain my feeling towards females.”

Rod Wave Previews Drake Collab: “GOAT”

Fans of Rod Wave are probably pretty familiar with his love of Drake, and their musical similarities are easy to identify. They both can deliver soulful vocals over melancholy atmospheres, and they’ve had some chances to link up in the past. Now, it seems like those opportunities finally manifested themselves into something concrete. Moreover, Wave recently previewed a new song with the 6ix God on his Instagram Story, captioning it with a goat emoji and a turtle emoji. The Toronto superstar flows mellowly over a drill-inspired instrumental and croons about even best friends having to end sometimes. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

Before we get ahead of ourselves, though, do we really need to tie these lyrics into the great rap beef of 2024 yet again? We don’t think so. Beyond that, it’s just exciting to see these two artists work together in their new eras, as it seems like this might land on Rod Wave’s next album. As for Drake, this new tease indicates that he’s still putting in a lot of work for the rest of the year, so we’ll see what other updates emerge on that. After all, OVO die-hards apparently have a PARTYNEXTDOOR collab album to look forward to from The Boy.

Playboi Carti is back… For now. Of course, it’s entirely possible that this whole rollout hype ends up being a false flag, but we’d rather keep our optimism while we can. As such, many fans are more excited than ever for the confirmed release of his new album, I AM MUSIC (or just MUSIC? We’ll see…). This became especially true after the Atlanta rage star hinted at more Kanye West collabs on this next project. “@ye KANT WAIT 2 SHOW THE WORLD WHAT WE BEEN WORKING ON WIT DIS ALBUM WE DA REAL 5L NO DOUBT,” he shared on his Instagram Story on Friday (September 13), which is coincidentally Carti’s birthday. Happy trip around the sun!

However, just as many fans are skeptical due to Ye’s shoddy releases as of late. But the two have a relatively extensive collaborative history dating back to the Chicago artist’s executive production on Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red and feature on its track “Go2DaMoon.” Almost everything else has been on Kanye West albums: “Off The Grid” and “Junya” off Donda, “Mr. Miyagi” off Donda 2, “FUK SUMN” and “CARNIVAL” off VULTURES 1, “FIELD TRIP” off VULTURES 2, and Ye’s production on Carti’s “2024.” Another reason for skepticism, though, concerns Carti’s new single “ALL RED.”

Furthermore, many fans think that Playboi Carti emulated Future too much on this new song, even if they’re grateful that he finally seems to be kicking his next era into full gear. We’ll see what the next step is in this process. Elsewhere, he also put up pre-orders for box sets of the new album, which you can pair with a hoodie, a T-shirt, or a hat. As far as a release date or anything like that, everyone is still in the dark.

According to the Opium boss’ website, these pre-orders will ship no later than six months after September 12, so that’s at least one indication suggesting that the latest we could get the LP is around March or April of next year. Hopefully, it’s sooner… Regardless of all this, there is one other Playboi Carti collab on the horizon that definitely has fans more excited. He recently was a special guest at The Weeknd’s São Paulo show to debut a new song together.

Kendrick Lamar & Playboi Carti Affiliate Hints At Collaboration

A mutual friend of Kendrick Lamar and Playboi Carti’s has just given both fanbases exactly what the want, but precisely what they don’t need: hope. Moreover, after a fan proposed to Hitta that they should work together, he had the following to say: “Bet we can get this done when the time right most def.” For those unaware, he’s a longtime affiliate of both MCs, although this obviously isn’t 100% confirmation that his word is gospel. Still, it does contribute to wildly hyped new album rumors concerning these creatives, which have followed Carti for four years and Kendrick for two.

Of course, in Kendrick Lamar’s case, the hype for a new album looks very different thanks to his Drake battle and West Coast renaissance. For Playboi Carti, this might just be yet another attempt at a rollout, but it’s easily his most complete yet since Whole Lotta Red dropped in 2020. IG-only singles, massive collaborations, rare media appearances, and more keep fans foaming at the mouth with every new minuscule detail. All we can hope for concerning this Hitta update is that, if they ever do cross over, they execute it creatively, purposefully, and in an excitingly fresh way.

Will Kendrick Lamar & Playboi Carti Collaborate One Day?

After all, both Kendrick Lamar and Playboi Carti are great artists with wildly different skill sets, albeit with some similarities here and there. Just think of K.Dot’s vocal dynamism on any number of cuts from TPAB, Mr. Morale, etc. The wild energy that Carti brings to the table on Die Lit and other projects (as well as his psychedelic croons and wails) aren’t that far off. Maybe these artists are losing their window to drop as fans grow more impatient, disillusioned, and disinterested. But a collab would certainly change that conversation, especially since the Atlanta rage icon was just removed from a recent Drake collab…

Meanwhile, Playboi Carti recently debuted new material with The Weeknd, and the Kendrick Lamar rumors still run rampant. We don’t know what a collab would really sound like or if it would even work in the first place. But both rappers have the creativity and artistic drive necessary to build bridges and make magic with like-minded individuals. If they can connect and land on any sort of common ground, the results could be a generational torch-passing from one vocal chameleon to another. Or just a straight-up banger; either is fine.
