Jack Harlow And Dave Embrace Their Status As Seasoned Professionals In Their ‘Stop Giving Me Advice’ Video

Worlds are colliding on Jack Harlow and Dave‘s new Lyrical Lemonade collaboration. Tonight (December 8), Louisville native Harlow has teamed up with UK rapper Dave on their breezy new cut, “Stop Giving Me Advice.”

On the song, Harlow reflects on a rapid rise to stardom. Having been through the motions of a hip-hop artist and pop star, Harlow already knows the game well, and is not here for anyone’s unsolicited input.

“Have you ever had to hide where exactly you reside? / Have you been to the Waffle House on Northside? / Have you ever made a popstar wanna be your bride? / Have you hugged someone and they cried? / Have you had your heroes sit you down and give you the guide? / Have you ever spoken somethin’ into existence / Or do you just talk about other people’s lives?,” raps Harlow on his verse.

While Harlow is still reckoning with the price of fame, Dave reflects on his past relationships, and how his lifestyle has affected those.

“You left somebody that you love at the bottom of a mountain? / ‘Cah they afraid to climb it, have you changed your climate? / Had her Insta’ and made her change to private? / Had her fly economy and make her change to private?,” raps Dave.

In the accompanying video, directed by Cole Bennett, the two rock black suits with vibrant yellow ties throughout a town, where they seem to be the only inhabitants.

Cole Bennett Appears To Respond To Sommer Ray Diss

During a recent N3on stream, Sommer Ray claimed that she’s slept with Cole Bennett. The Instagram model also shared that she doesn’t sleep with well-known people, later whispering that Bennett isn’t “famous.” Though Ray’s revelation was an accident, as she forgot she was wearing a microphone, it’s sparked some debate surrounding the Lyrical Lemonade founder’s notoriety.

While Bennett’s well-established career as a music video director has certainly gained him the respect of his peers, it seems as though Ray wouldn’t exactly consider him a household name. Regardless, he appears to be unbothered amid the whole debacle. Recently, he took to Twitter to share a message with followers, and many think it was a response.

Cole Bennett Seems To Want Out Of The Drama

“If it’s not about art, leave me out of the conversation,” the 27-year-old wrote yesterday. It’s unconfirmed whether or not his message was actually a response to Ray’s comments. It’s clear, however, that Bennett would rather focus on his work than gossip surrounding his love life. He’s surely been busy, recently dropping off a new music video for Drake’s For All The Dogs track “Another Late Night” featuring Lil Yachty. He teamed up with Yachty again in August to create a visual for his single “TESLA.”

Last year, he also appeared on the Full Send Podcast, where he reflected on working alongside Kanye West on YNW Melly’s “Mixed Personalities” video shoot. As expected, he claimed that it wasn’t all that easy. “Kanye hits me the night it’s supposed to drop – the night before – and he’s like, ‘let’s make the video black and white,’” he recalled. “I said we have to think about Melly here. It’s his song at the end of the day. It’s his vision. He’s also not here to have an input on it.” What do you think of Sommer Ray’s diss? Do you think Cole Bennett’s Tweet was a response? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Cole Bennett.

Sommer Ray Says She Slept With Cole Bennett, Claims He Isn’t Famous

Model Sommer Ray revealed on a recent N3on stream that she had previously slept with music video director Cole Bennett. Furthermore, Ray claimed that Bennett “wasn’t famous”. Bennett is best known as the founder of Lyrical Lemonade. Lyrical Lemonade, also known as LL, is a blog that has helped given rise to a number of popular rappers. Figures such as Lil Pump and Ski Mask the Slump God had their early rises featured on the blog, helping their achieve larger mainstream success. Bennett also directed the music for for “Lucid Dreams” by the late Juice WLRD. Bennett’s 2023 credits include Jack Black’s “Peaches” and Drake’s “Another Late Night”.

It’s not the first time that Ray has opened up about her love life. Back in 2021, Ray claimed that Machine Gun Kelly cheated on her with Megan Fox, leading to their now-infamous relationship. Bennett has not issued a response to Ray’s savage admission at the time of writing.

Big Year For Cole Bennett

While Bennett, like many music video directors, may not be a household name, his work certainly is. Aside from the aforementioned projects, he also linked with Lil Yachty to direct the colorful music video for “Tesla”. Elsewhere, Bennett also made an appearance at the NFL draft for his hometown Bears. “It’s pretty crazy to be here right now. I’m off a few Bud Lights so give me a second here. But I recognize that I’m in Kansas City, so go Chiefs. But I’m really here to say bear down. Where we at Chicago?” Bennett joked with the crowd during the third round. After composing himself, Bennett announced the 64th overall pick, with the Bears taking defensive tackle Zacch Pickens.

Meanwhile, back in 2022, Bennett also recalled a “texting war” he had with Kanye West. “Kanye hits me the night it’s supposed to drop — the night before — and he’s like, ‘let’s make the video black and white’.” Bennett said of Ye’s “Mixed Personalities” video. “I said we have to think about Melly here. It’s his song at the end of the day. It’s his vision. He’s also not here to have an input on it. So I really think we should follow the initial vision that we all had,” Bennett continued, noting that Ye was not the lead artist on the track.

That Cole Bennett-Directed Drake Video Has Finally Arrived, And It’s For ‘Another Late Night’ Featuring Lil Yachty

Hours before For All The Dogs arrived, Drake set the table by releasing “8AM In Charlotte” alongside an adorable video co-starring his nearly six-year-old son, Adonis, who happens to be the artist of the album’s cover art. And tonight (October 6), Drake served fans some dessert to cap off an eventful release day: The video for “Another Late Night” featuring Lil Yachty, directed by Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett.

Bennett directed and edited the three-minute video, shot in Maple Ridge in Vancouver, Canada. It has a Christmas-adjacent theme. A Christmas carol is the first sound we hear, followed by someone saying, “Christmas came early.” Christmas lights are everywhere, fully coating a luxurious car, while Lil Boat and Drake’s bars beam bright into the night.

On October 1 — the 10-year anniversary of Lyrical Lemonade — Bennett detailed his first-ever collaboration with Drake while visiting with Kids Take Over — putting fans on high alert.

“Drake had a few off-days in Vancouver, and he wanted to shoot a video while he was out there,” the prolific director said. “We’re working on a few different projects right now, one of which was to knock something out in Vancouver. With an artist of his size, you have to be aware of — you know, just, we looked at a few locations in Vancouver, it was a little hot. … The Maple Ridge location felt the most tucked away and ducked off, and it was surrounded by trees, and it just felt like the safest place to do it.”

He added, “I’ve known [Drake] for a few years. We’ve talked about working for a few years now, and I just knew it was gonna be when the time was right. I was supposed to do the ‘Search & Rescue‘ video.”

While this marks the first time Bennett and Drake have professionally linked, Bennett previously directed Lil Yachty’s videos for “Poland” and “Strike (Holster).”

Drake celebrated For All The Dogs by performing his It’s All A Blur Tour at his hometown Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, where he’ll return for another show on Saturday night (October 7).

Cole Bennett Reveals Title Of Drake & Lil Yachty Song & Details Music Video Shoot

We’re just days away from the release of Drake’s forthcoming album, For All The Dogs. In the past few months, the rapper has provided a handful of updates during the It’s All A Blur tour. Still, we still don’t know what exactly to expect. Singles like “Search & Rescue” and “Slime You Out” ft. SZA seemed to indicate that he might be in his R&B bag. But then, there was a preview of his upcoming collab with Lil Yachty. Fans spotted Drizzy and Lil Boat shooting a music video in Surrey, BC with Cole Bennett, who recently shared some details on the record.

Bennett told Kids Take Over revealed that the title of Drake and Lil Yachty’s new song is “Another Late Night.” The Lyrical Lemonade mastermind revealed that the two are working on a “few different projects” together. However, the rapper wanted to film a music video in British Columbia. While Vancouver didn’t work out, they scoped out a lowkey location in Maple Ridge, B.C. where they shot the upcoming video for “Another Late Night” with Lil Yachty.

Cole Bennett Discusses Drake’s Creative Process

Bennett shared a bit more insight into Drake’s upcoming album. He revealed that he already heard it a few times, although many of the records were unfinished. “Right now, [Drake]’s finishing up the album and he’s very on the go between the show and him finishing up his album,” Bennett said. He added that he already heard the song before Yachty jumped on it and Drake already intended to shoot a music video for it.

However, in Vancouver, Drake said Cole could shoot a video for whatever song he wanted after hearing For All The Dogs. “There are great moments on the album, a lot of which aren’t done. I kind of came to the conclusion that if we shoot one of these songs that aren’t fully finished, we might never finish it,” Bennett added. “He has such a brilliant mind but it’s always moving so he’s always on to the next thing.” The famed director also revealed that he was supposed to direct “Search & Rescue.” Check the full interview above. Bennett talks Drake at the 3:22 mark.

Lil Durk And Kid Cudi’s ‘Guitar In My Room’ Video Is A Luminous Look At Rap’s Most Influential Signature Sounds

If hip-hop’s 50th-anniversary celebrations have taught fans of the culture anything, it’s just how expansive the music has been. Rapper Lil Durk and Kid Cudi are two shining examples of the genre’s growth. The two sub-section innovators linked up for a new track titled “Guitar In My Room.”

Both the track and its official accompanying video are spearheaded by Cole Bennett. As the second single off Bennett’s forthcoming compilation album, “Guitar In My Room,” is a luminous look at their duo’s influential signature sounds. To open the record, Durk lets listeners into his bittersweet reality.

“I’m in a room with my guitar, I’m tryna prove that I’m a star / But I hate when we keep distance ’cause it’s a difference with response / Keep it natural the first day, we gon’ watch Tubi in the car / Ask me what’s my motivation, I say, ‘The trenches,’ she say, ‘Why?’ / I was takin’ all prescriptions, them drugs / I wanna ask for your permission, don’t judge / Before you ever get a job, get a gun,” rapped Durk.

Cudi shifts the energy from gloomy to litty when it is his turn on the mic. “Caught you in a dream, I hit you with that sauce / If we aim at the moon, no, baby, we won’t fall / She said she miss that feeling / A real n**** that is so appealin’ / Keep it low, baby, I’m not leavin’ / Soakin’ up your glory days slow / If there’s problems, I’ll solve ’em, no lie / You never had a n**** catchin’ all the signs / It’s time, baby, lost in the lights,” rapped Cudi.

Drake & Cole Bennett Announce Music Video In The Works

Amid a lot of hype for his upcoming album For All The Dogs, Drake recently announced what’s assumedly a big part of his rollout. There are a lot of things that can contribute to a project lead-up: singles, press runs, tours, and of course, music videos. What’s more is that this marks a first-time collaboration between the “Privileged Rappers” MC and one of the best in the game when it comes to visuals. Moreover, he recently posted on his Instagram Story that he’s working on a music video with none other than Cole Bennett. If you don’t recognize that name, you will most definitely recognize many MVs from his long list of directed work via his creative outlet, Lyrical Lemonade.

“Coming soon,” Drake captioned a picture of Cole with a camera with an owl and lemon emoji. “I was gonna keep it a secret but…” Bennett replied in an IG Story of his own reposting Drizzy’s photo. This is overall a very exciting prospect, not just for the historic nature of this team-up but for the anticipation surrounding For All The Dogs. More importantly, though, it’s a massive level-up for the acclaimed director in terms of visibility, though he doesn’t need the OVO mogul to keep building his career forward.

Drake & Cole Bennett Are Cooking Up Something Special

For example, Cole Bennett recently worked with Lil Yachty once more for the video for his recent single, “TESLA.” With colorfully coordinated shots, crisp clarity, and compelling composition, it’s a simple but effective display of his talents. Considering Yachty and Drake’s own great relationship, maybe this is the connection that Bennett needed to link up with the latter. However, with the massive reputation he’s already amassed, there’s no way that the Toronto superstar wasn’t aware of his reach.

No matter how you slice it, this opportunity gathered more conversation and buzz than most music videos these days. It’ll be very exciting to see what they craft together. All we can hope for is that, if they’re happy with it and fans are too, it won’t be their last team-up. For more news and the latest updates on Drake and Cole Bennett, come back to HNHH.

Trippie Redd & Roddy Ricch’s ‘Closed Doors’ Video Is A Sweet Bite-Sized Look Into Their More Romantic Sides

Trippie Redd is among the biggest rap ragers, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a soft spot. On his new single, “Closed Doors,” off his new album, A Love Letter To You 5, Trippie teams with Roddy Ricch to show off their more romantic sides. The official video for the track, which was directed by Cole Bennett, is a sweet bite-sized look at the lengths the pair will go to for their special ladies.

In the video, Trippie and Roddy visually shrink themselves down as a metaphor for how they are willing to step out of their superstar personas for their gals. Although Trippie is known for his signature grunge sound, he has no problems throwing himself into the song’s R&B sounds.

Trippee even pays homage to singer Lloyd’s 2004 song “Southside” as Trippie melodically raps, “I done popped a Perky, waitin’ on an Addy / Got us doin’ things we ain’t done before / F*ckin’ you in mansions, crib came with expansions / Doing dirty things behind closed doors / I got you Dior sight / Got you catchin’ feelings, we was so tight / That p*ssy good, I co-sign / We both end up doin’ dirty things behind closed doors.”

This small tribute was a stellar touch on the part of the producers of “Closed Doors,” Igor Mamet, Puku, Niketaz, and OneintheForest.

Roddy Ricch’s verse perfectly aligns with “Closed Doors”‘ theme, with him dedicating his stanza to his better half: “I love the way you deal with a nigga, that’s so anti / Knew it was real when you got my name tatted on your backside / You love my highs and my lows in the worst way / And you make every day I wake up feel like my birthday.”

Juice WRLD And Cordae’s ‘Doomsday’ Video Puts Deepfake Technology To Mind-Bending Good Use

Generally, I find all the deepfakes and AI use in music today — especially when it comes to deceased artists’ posthumous releases — ethically iffy, if not downright creepy. I’m willing to make an exception for Lyrical Lemonade’s off-the-wall “Doomsday” collab between Juice WRLD and Cordae, though. For one, Juice and Cordae were very tight in real life, and for another, both were extremely close with director Cole Bennett, who was instrumental to both of their careers.

But mostly, it’s because the project came out super tight, which is something you can’t always say for similar works. In this case, we get another opportunity to hear both young rappers at the respective heights of their game — something they got too few chances to give us while Juice was alive — as well as to hear Juice really rapping. Also, the deepfake effect in the video is used in a creative way, allowing Cordae to perform for the both of them as he morphs back and forth between his own face and Juice’s.

Eminem, whose song “Role Model” is sampled here, even makes an appearance at the beginning of the video and his association with Cordae and Juice is just enough to make you wonder whether it’s more digital trickery, or really the man himself showing love to the younger rappers (and Cole, who directed his “Godzilla” video).

Check out the “Doomsday” video above.
