Steve Stoute Uncovers The Origin Of 50 Cent & Ja Rule’s Long-Standing Feud

Steve Stoute’s recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay expectedly arrived with plenty of shocking revelations. For one, the music exec tore into fellow industry mainstay Dame Dash, claiming that his separation from Jay-Z was the simple result of his huge “ego.” He went on to detail yet another high-profile falling out between 50 Cent and Ja Rule, revealing that he doesn’t believe they’ll ever be back on good terms.

“I think 50 knew that Ja was not who he was portraying as an image. Ja [was a] Jehovah’s Witness… I’m not saying they not supposed to rap, but Ja was coming up with this gangster image. It was like, ‘That’s a stretch for you…’ They had some very neighborhood beef,” Stoute began. “I remember when we signed 50 there was something going on. I think he snatched Ja’s chain, or somebody snatched somebody’s… And then they had a fight in Atlanta…and it was just like, I never understood it.”

“I was like, ‘Why do you keep having problems with this guy?’ It was like he was always looking for problems…I think it was driven by this idea that this image he was portraying he didn’t think was authentic… It led to big issues. Ja and his guys ran up on 50 in the studio one day. They touched him up,” he continued. “They’re never gonna be cool, and now, I’m happy that it’s all kind of over with… What I don’t like at this point as older statesmen is…it makes the artform look bad.”

“These guys are made men now,” Stoute also added. “The leaders of the artform doin well, being positive, representing…the movement and the culture of Hip Hop well. For guys still to be beefing and still…dragging that back in…you in your 40s, bro. What are you talking about? Yesterday (March 6) marked the arrival of Shannon Sharpe’s latest Club Shay Shay interview. This week, Unc sat down with music industry executive Steve Stoute, also bringing in Illmatic MC Nas via FaceTime to talk about coming up out of the Queensbridge Projects around the same time. After recalling the beginnings of his career, Stoute shared some stories about his personal life – including the time Kanye West took over the microphone at his wedding to freestyle.

When Sharpe asked his guest about the rumoured moment, the 53-year-old was shocked that others knew about it. “Man, how do you know this? Man, shut up. Who told you that? Nah man, who told you this?” he responded in disbelief. The ex-athlete teased, “The night has a thousand eyes. Steve, I’m just asking the question. I just wanna know. My audience wanna know. Maxwell was performing, Kanye got in there and started freestyling. Yes or no that happened?”

Seeing as Ye infamously stole Taylor Swift’s microphone to speak up for Beyonce at the 2009 MTV VMAs, it’s not hard to imagine him interrupting someone else. “That’s so wild that you know that, man. Who would tell you that? Yes, Kanye grabbed the mic and started freestyling, and it was… craziness. That’s all I can tell you. It was crazy,” Stoute reflected around the 1:11:48 mark in the video below.

Dame Dash Rips Steve Stoute To Shreds For Commenting On Jay-Z Feud

Earlier this week, record executive Steve Stoute became the most recent guest to sit down with Shannon Sharpe for the Club Shay Shay podcast. As you’d expect, he discussed a variety of topics from his decades in the music industry and even made some comments that rubbed a few prominent figures the wrong way. One of the people discussed was Jay-Z, who Stoute has a decades-long business and personal relationship with. In particular he discussed the evolving relationship between Jay and Dame Dash.

“He’s a gigantic, almost, almost not. He blew it. He had the most important artist of a generation,” Stoute began. ”Dame’s antics. Dame wouldn’t change. The way he spoke to people, they he treated people. He was angry because he had a strong perspective on his business philosophy. Jay saw Dame’s ceiling,” he concluded. It didn’t take long before Dame heard the comments and felt the need to post a response. ”This is the reason I had to smack the sh*t out of @stevestoute a couple years ago…because he’s always speaking on other men’s business good thing I’ve evolved,” Dame captioned an Instagram post responding to the comments. Another connection Dame Dash has to Jay-Z may have to be severed soon. A judgment spawning from a copyright infringement case a few years ago was never paid by Dame and the judge is willing to go to significant lengths to get the money secured. That may even include forcing Dame to sell his shares of Roc-A-Fella records. Despite their split, Jay-Z is attempting to prevent that sale from happening. He’s citing the fact that it would be bad for both the company and the other shareholders.

Steve Stoute Shades Skip Bayless, Says He “Doesn’t Understand” Why Black Athletes Go On “Undisputed”

Steve Stoute took shots at Skip Bayless during his recent appearance on Club Shay Shay. “I watched your ex-host, Skip – I don’t even understand why all these other Black athletes even go on the show now. I don’t even understand what they’re doing. To me, it’s so clear that he needs Black talent, athletes, rappers. He’s doing everything to prop himself up. And I know he’s getting paid over there and everybody else is getting pennies on the dollar. I’m like, ‘Why would you do that!?’ He clearly isn’t the guy. He needs you. Why don’t everybody leave the show and let’s watch him do it for a minute. That show would be dead, immediately,” Stoute said.

After Sharpe’s sudden departure from Undisputed, Bayless hired Richard Sherman, Michael Irvin, and Keyshawn Johnson, and Lil Wayne as regular contributors. However, the overhaul has done nothing to improve the show’s viewership. Undisputed remains far behind First Take in terms of average daily viewers. Many have questioned just how long Fox will continue to try and win a war they have long since lost.

Steve Stoute Accuses Diddy Of 1999 Assault

Stoute has found himself in the news a lot recently. Stoute accused Diddy of assaulting him in 1999, per a report from Radar Online. According to Stoute, Diddy “attacked” him following a disagreement on the set of Nas‘ “Hate Me Now” video. Diddy reportedly had a change of heart about being nailed to a cross in the Jesus-themed video. Stoute objected to the change, given that the scene had been Diddy’s idea and Stoute had spent $14K to make it happen. Per the National Enquirer and a police report, Diddy and two bodyguards physically assaulted Stoute in his office after the scene was not removed.

“One minute I’m in the middle of a meeting. And the next minute I’m down on the floor and Puffy and his guys are kicking and pounding me. One of them picks up a chair and throws it at me. Then Puffy throws my desk over and they just walk out like nothing happened. My jaw and my head were all swollen. It was a traumatic experience, and in the middle of it, I didn’t know exactly how to feel. I was upset. Embarrassed. Scared. Angry. As far as I’m concerned, this was an attempt on my life. The only reason I’m not dead is because they missed,” Stoute told The Times. However, he later asked for the charges to be dropped after the rapper apologized.

Shannon Sharpe recently unveiled a new episode of Club Shay Shay featuring Steve Stoute, and as expected, the interview was jam-packed with revelations. The record executive shared his take on Dame Dash, for example, explaining why he believes nobody in the industry wants to work with him. According to Stoute, the Roc-A-Fella co-founder sports a bad attitude that he refuses to change. He claims that this led others to the conclusion that they don’t need Dash to succeed.

“Dame wouldn’t change,” he described. “The way he spoke to people, the way he treated people. He was angry. He was angry because he had a strong perspective about his business philosophy … People were becoming less beholden to him. But he was unaware of it. While he was ‘building businesses,’ which partly he was, he would go off all around the world with cameras and girls and all kinds of cr*zy sh*t and then come back flipping on everybody.”

Stoute continued, claiming that while he thinks Dash is smart and talented, his stubborn outlook pushes others in the business away. “Jay grew up,” he explained. “Jay wanted more. I think Jay seen Dame’s ceiling. I think that’s really what it was. Jay seen Dame’s ceiling. He wanted more. And everybody wanted more. Dame just had a very particular way of approaching it. He’s far from st*pid. Very very very smart. Very talented. Ego through the roof. Through the roof! So, there was no working with him. No one wanted to work with him. As much talent as he has, nobody want to work with him.”

Johnny Manziel Apologizes To Drake

Johnny Manziel has apologized to Drake for “letting down” the rapper. “Who believes in curses like that [The Drake Curse]? That guy’s the most positive energy, great aura. Maybe he picks wrong sometimes in the people, teams or whatever it is or his bets, but that’s life, right? There is no curse. That’s to each his own, you know? If I handle my business in the proper way, I make him proud, right? Our relationship changes; so like there’s a lot of people that I let down and I truly feel like him and LeBron [James] at a point in time were people that I really really let down, you know? At that point in time [2016], I was so selfish that I was dragging everybody that was tied to me through the mud,” Manziel told Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay.

Drake was one of Manziel’s biggest supporters as the Texas A&M QB looked toward the NFL. In fact, Drizzy went as far as to pen the track “Draft Day” in honor of Manziel. However, as we all know, Manziel simply wasn’t cut out for the NFL. After being drafted 22nd overall by the Browns, Manziel was out of the league two seasons later, being cut after the 2015 season.

Meanwhile, Manziel bared it all in an episode of Netflix’s Untold series that aired last year. “I think I was just running from problems. It was probably a $5 million bender. Spend as much money as I possibly could and then my plan was to take my life. Months prior, I went and bought a gun I knew I was going to use. I wanted to get as bad as humanly possible to where it made sense and it made it seem like an excuse and an out for me,” Manziel revealed.

Manziel is in a much better place now. Prior to the release of Untold: Johnny Football, he announced that he was going to return to Texas A&M. His plan was to establish “Johnny Manziel’s Money Bar”, a new sports bar on campus. He was able to get the project up and running before the start of A&M’s football season. The season of Untold also included episodes about the infamous Urban Meyer Florida Gators as well as Jake Paul.

Family feuds are among the messiest and most stressful that make it into the news cycle for celebrities. Currently, comedian Mo’Nique is feeling the heat after her firstborn, Shalon Jackson responded to her comments about parenting on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast. “I would like to free her from having to continue telling that lie,” he told viewers of his 10-minute TikTok video that details things from his perspective. To avoid being overcome by emotions or getting off track, Jackson wrote down his thoughts and read them out earlier this week.

“Faith without work is dead, and neither one of us cares to put forth any effort to reconcile with the other. We are separate as she put it because she doesn’t care to be my mother any more than I care to be her son,” the 34-year-old shared. Their relationship has come to a standstill, as neither is making moves to contact the other, Vibe notes. Additionally, Jackson is hurt that his mother’s new husband, known to her as “Daddy,” doesn’t acknowledge him.

Getting ahead of any critics, Mo’s son noted, “Responding this way allows me to say my peace uninterrupted. To all those wondering, why say something now? Call it a form of therapy.” While they don’t have active communication, Jackson did confirm that his family matriarch admitted to not doing her best work in raising him. “My mother does a fantastic job of acknowledging a lot of things, but she doesn’t take accountability very well and anything that she may take true accountability for is only at her convenience in my experience.”

That is exactly what happened today as he took aim at Shannon Sharpe. Overall, his gripe against Shannon came in relation to the NFL legend’s feud with Mike Epps. Although Shannon and Epps are on track for an amicable conversation, Holcomb decided to weigh in with some thoughts of his own.

If you recall, this all started when Epps accused Shannon Sharpe of being gay. “That n***a Shannon Sharpe called me trying to do an interview. I said ‘no Medea, I ain’t doing no interview with you’ – so you can sit across from me and look at my balls,” Epps said. “The n***a sh*t is called Shay Shay the n*gga is telling you. Put a wig on that motherf*cker and tell me if that ain’t motherf*cking Madea sister.” Sharpe then clapped back by saying that Epps is a liar and he can expose DMs if necessary. As for Holcomb’s comments, he continued to push the narrative that Sharpe might be gay.

Why Mo’Nique & D.L. Hughley Are At Odds

Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast has continued in recent weeks to garner a reputation for being the premiere platform for comedians and public figures to air their grievances and double down on their public feuds. Last week, comedian and actress Mo’Nique joined the pod, delivering a few scathing takes about Oprah, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Tyler Perry, and others. However, the biggest bombshell dropped on the appearance was Mo’Nique’s opinion of Kings of Comedy comedian D.L. Hughley, escalating a dispute that dates back to 2022.

According to Mo’Nique, D.L. Hughley has been speaking negatively about her for years, though their actual feud began during a 2022 stand-up comedy performance in Detroit, Michigan. Apparently, both Mo’Nique and D.L. Hughley had listed in their contracts that they were to headline the event, and neither party would agree to go on stage before the other. While some comedians could have simply swallowed their pride and accepted the terms of the stalemate, Mo’Nique and D.L. Hughley took the spat to social media, where things became far more heated and personal.

So personal, in fact, that Mo’Nique called out Hughley for not publicly naming the person who sexually assaulted his daughter, Ryan Nicole Shepard. Hughley has spoken about the assault publicly in the past and explained that he had trouble believing his daughter at first because the alleged abuser was someone he trusted and respected. After the heated exchange, both parties seemed to put the beef to rest for a time, and though they never truly reconciled, it appeared as though the feud was over.

Monique’s Comments Reignited The Rivalry

During her Club Shay Shay appearance, Mo’Nique discussed an incident in which she appeared on D.L. Hughley’s radio show (without the King of Comedy star present) and became offended at the line of questioning she received during a segment of “Would You Rather.” According to Mo’Nique, she had a personal discussion with Hughley after the event in which the comedian was incredibly dismissive of her grievances. D.L. Hughley denies being dismissive of her, as he agreed to pull the entire “Would You Rather” segment, which is still not available for the public to hear to this day.

After the Club Shay Shay appearance, D.L. Hughley responded to Mo’Nique’s comments via Instagram. In the explosive video, Hughley mocked the comedian’s career, made fun of her weight, and exposed several alleged lies that Mo’Nique has told to the public in recent years. He also called her Netflix special “trash” and claimed that the stand-up comedy routine “got the worst reviews of any Netflix special in history.”

Since then, the pair have continued to fire shots back and forth at one another through social media, with no sign of an end in sight. Mo’Nique will likely continue to drag the feud out in public as promotion for her upcoming stint on Katt Williams’ Dark Matter tour, which she is poised to join later this month.

Mo’Nique Joins Katt Williams’ Tour Amid “Club Shay Shay” Fallout

Earlier this week, Mo’Nique’s eagerly anticipated Club Shay Shay interview finally dropped, and it didn’t disappoint. The performer discussed being shunned by her celebrity peers, calling out people like Oprah, Tyler Perry, Kevin Hart, and more. Even before the interview was released, social media users began to draw comparisons between Mo’Nique and Katt Williams, who just appeared on Club Shay Shay last month.

His interview went viral, as he similarly put several of his fellow comedians on blast. He dissed Kevin Hart, Rickey Smiley, Cedric The Entertainer, and more. Now, amid the fallout of Mo’Nique’s interview, she’s announced that she’ll be hopping on Williams’ Dark Matter tour. Kevin Hart’s ex-wife Torrei and Mark Curry will also join them on the tour.

Mo’Nique and her husband Sidney Hicks shared the news during an Instagram Live earlier today. The couple was addressing D.L. Hughley’s response to her callout on Club Shay Shay, as well as thanking the hosts of The Breakfast Club for their recent apologies. She had claimed that she was made uncomfortable during a game of “Would You Rather” on Hughley’s radio show, prompting him to fire back. “Every time I see Mo’Nique these days, she’s doing some greasy a** video with her and her daddy complaining about something or working out,” he said, also dubbing her a “liar.” According to Mo’Nique and Hicks, however, Hughley only scrapped the interview because they had gotten their attorney involved, though they hadn’t yet reached the point of sending him a cease and desist.

At some point in the Instagram Live, they snuck the announcement in. Fans note that Mo’Nique’s inclusion on the tour is sure to make it all the more explosive.
