Polo G Advocates For His Brother’s Freedom

According to Polo G, his brother, rapper Trench Baby, needs to be released from prison as soon as possible. On Wednesday (Nov. 13), G posted an Instagram post asking for his fans to chant for the release of his brother. He wrote, “Free trench just cuz I ain’t said it in a while I love lil bro even when we don’t see [eye emoji] to [eye emoji]. I’m his big brother I always have and always will play a protective roll no matter how much he feel like he can hold his own dats my real blood and can’t sh** change that but us [100 emoji][100 emoji].”

Polo and Trench were arrested in July for illegal firearm following a raid of the rapper’s Los Angeles home. The arrest led to Trench Baby being sentenced by a judge for violations in September. Before Trench Baby’s Los Angeles arrest, the rapper was wanted in a robbery case and was taken into police custody. Altercations between Polo G’s mother and sister have made his family issues public over the summer.

Polo G continues to have run-ins with police since his brother arrest. The “3 Headed Goat” hitmaker was arrested for weapon possession in October. The Los Angeles Sherifs would release the rap star after a three-day detainment. In accordance with Section 849(b)(1) of the California Penal Code, his release was justified by the following statement: “The officer is satisfied that there are insufficient grounds for making a criminal complaint against the person arrested.”

Polo G is headlining “The Hood Poet Tour,” a nationwide concert supporting his latest album. “I’ve always put my heart into my music, and now I’m bringing that energy to the stage,” he said in a press release. “This tour is for the fans who’ve been with me since day one and for everyone who’s been part of this journey. I can’t wait to share this experience with y’all.” The new album features G-Herbo, Offset, Lil Durk, GloRilla, and Future. The tour’s supporting acts are VonOff1700 and Diany Dior.

King Von Fan Goes Viral For Cleaning Up His Vandalized O-Block Mural

A fan of King Von appears to have cleared up his mural in Chicago after the artwork was vandalized, earlier this week. Images from O-Block showed “Andy [hearts] Suki,” tagged over the original image of the later rapper. Akademiks and other popular social media accounts have since shared a video of a girl clearing it off. “If anybody asks who cleaned this, Melody By Lena,” she said in the video.

Fans on Instagram have been having mixed responses to the viral clip. “She had ta make dat as street as possible ‘fvck is u talking about’ …’fvck is u talm bout’ relax Mel Mel,” one user joked. Others came to her defense with one user writing: “She wasn’t alone. Them members from the O was watching her back [laughing emoji] yall need to stay out Chicago business.”

The vandalism occurred just days after authorities arrested Lil Durk for allegedly orchestrating an attempted murder of Quando Rondo. In their complaint, they alleged: “Banks [Lil Durk] put a monetary bounty out for an individual with whom Banks was feuding named T.B. Banks ordered T.B.’s murder and that the hitmen used Banks and OTF-related finances to carry out the murder.” It went on to allege that the move was in retaliation for the 2020 killing of King Von.

As for Lil Durk, authorities arrested him in Miami as he approached the airport with several international flights allegedly booked. Lil Durk Loses Key To City After Arrest For Alleged Murder-For-Hire

Earlier this month, Lil Durk was granted keys to Broadview and Bellwood, two villages just outside of Chicago. He was recognized for the philanthropic efforts of his Neighborhood Heroes Foundation. Not everyone was on board, however. Several social media users argued that there were plenty of individuals more deserving of the honor, such as a local teacher, doctor, or first responder.

Of course, this backlash was only compounded yesterday, when the rapper was arrested for alleged murder-for-hire. He was taken into custody in Broward County and has since been transferred out. According to DJ Akademiks, he’s most likely headed to Florida, though this is not confirmed. Reportedly, he could potentially face life imprisonment or even the death penalty if found guilty.

In response to the debacle, Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson took to social media today to announce that she’s cut ties with Durk’s foundation and revoked his key. “While the American system of justice grants everyone the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law, in the village of Broadview, the court of public opinion of residents has even higher moral and ethical standards of behavior,” her statement reads in part. “And our public partners must also reflect the same uncompromising standards demanded by our residents.”

Mayor Thompson’s statement arrives amid reports that an OTF member allegedly snitched on Lil Durk by wearing a wire to provide federal agents with information. Allegedly, the individual just returned home after serving a 12-year prison sentence. Cam’ron Claims Chicago And Louisiana Produce The Best Rap Lyricists

Cam’ron is from hip-hop’s Mecca. He grew up in Harlem, and spearheaded New York’s last great run in the 00s. Cam isn’t a lyrical miracle by any stretch of the imagination, but many assumed that he would have claimed NY when asked where the best rappers come from. No dice. The rapper talked about the concept of lyricism during a recent episode of It Is What It Is. Instead of showing the East Coast some love, Cam decided to single out Chicago and Louisiana. He did, however, back up his claim.

Cam’ron and Mase were talking about the Windy City, and the former took the opportunity to praise the city’s artists. “They may have the best lyricists,” he posited. “Them and Louisiana. I’m talking about, like as far as lyricism.” It was a hot take, but Cam was confident in what he said, and proceeded to point to the elitism the NY practiced back in the 80s and 90s. “New York used to call people country,” he stated, before citing Weezy as an example. “Even thinking about Lil Wayne. You get on a record with Lil Wayne, you gotta be careful,” Cam’ron asserted. “You get on a record with Eminem, you gotta be careful.”

Lil Wayne hails from Louisiana, and Em comes from Detroit. The former supports Cam’ron’s thesis, the latter not so much. Still, the rapper doubled down. “These n**gas are really lyricists.” Cam’ron’s affinity for Weezy and Chicago artists makes sense given his track record. Dipset was early to the party when it came to recognizing Lil Wayne’s talent, and the group collaborated with him multiple times during pre-Tha Carter III days. Cam also worked with Kanye West when the Windy City producer was trying to establish himself as a rapper. He appeared on West’s second album, and West produced two stellar tracks on 2004’s Purple Haze.

Cam’ron has also been critical of New York in recent years. The rapper recently moved to Las Vegas, and cited the rat problem in NY as a major factor. “I just left New York. That sh*t was disgusting,” he told fans on Instagram Live. “I can’t do this sh*t… I’m not apologizing for it neither. I ain’t even gonna act like I’m sorry for it a little bit.” Cam’ron seems to be loving the desert, though. He attended a Vegas Fourth of July party, and turned heads by dressing up like his former podcast guest, OJ Simpson.

ScHoolboy Q Endures Another Concert Cancelation

ScHoolboy Q has had to postpone his concert in Chicago that was set for Saturday night after numerous airlines were affected by the CrowdStrike/Microsoft outage. Devin Malik, who is on the schedule to open for Q at the show, explained the postponement in a post on Instagram. “No plane in cali could get us to chicago in time forced us to move it a couple days up. See yall there,” Malik wrote.

After the announcement, Q wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “BraH” with a facepalming emoji. It’s the second time this has happened, after his concert in Toronto, Canada was scrapped due to safety concerns. At the time, he theorized on social media that Drake, who has been beefing with Kendrick Lamar, set up the cancelation.

“I lived in Chicago and they may have the best lyricists. Them and Louisiana,” Cam said. “I’m talking about as far as lyricists. We really take [it] for granted. New York used to call people ‘country’ in the ’80s and early ’90s. Even thinking about Lil Wayne. If you get on a record with Lil Wayne you gotta be careful. Lil Wayne will go crazy. If you go on a record with Eminem, you gotta be careful. These n****s are really lyricists …” From there, he brought up several Chicago artists including Twista and Yung Buk. He concluded: “I think Chicago artists are really, really underrated as far as rap is concerned.”
