According To 50 Cent, Drake’s Accusations Against UMG Are Actually An Admission

It was likely only a matter of time until someone in the recording industry pointed out how Drake’s legal action against Universal Music Group over its promotion of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” could sound very much like a pot calling a kettle black. It’s only right that that person turned out to be 50 Cent, who has never been afraid to bait controversy and has his fair share of battle scars.

During an appearance on BigBoyTV, 50 Cent weighed in on Drake’s controversial move, pointing out how there’s some truth to Drake’s accusations — but those accusations are admissions as much as anything. “What he’s saying the system has done, they’ve done it,” he asserted. “They’re guilty of what he said they did.” He pointed out how during his tenure at Interscope (which is also a subsidiary of UMG, and which distributes Kendrick’s music), the company promoted both sides of his famed battle with former G-Unit member The Game (Look over 50’s shoulder during the interview… UMG isn’t the only one playing both sides). “It’s just business, it’s selling the record,” he said. “But everything he said that they did for Kendrick, they did for him.”

He did allow, though, that he didn’t see the battle as being as damaging to Drake as fans seem to. “Whenever you say you lost something — what exactly did you lose?” he questioned. “There’s nobody who’s a Drake fan who won’t go out to see his show right now.”

50 Cent Reveals Drake’s Hilarious Opp List Which Includes Anthony Fantano, Kick Streamers, And Red Pill Podcasters

50 Cent and Drake are two of the biggest hip-hop artists ever, and they both know what it means to have mainstream success. Furthermore, they both know what it is like to have a lot of enemies. Fif has developed a ton of foes throughout the course of his career. However, he has rarely lost a beef and it is because of his trollish nature. He can easily disarm you with jokes and incessant ridicule. Meanwhile, Drake has even more enemies than Fif, but he hasn’t been able to neutralize them like he has in the past.

Recently, 50 Cent was on Big Boy where he spoke on a whole bunch of topics. From Jay-Z to Diddy to Drake and Kendrick Lamar, Fif was on another level, as per usual. One part of the interview is starting to garner quite a bit of attention online. Below, you can see the moment in which 50 Cent held up a paper that contained a long list of names. As Fif describes, these names are all of Drake’s opps that he has accumulated over the years.

50 Cent Shows That Drake Has Beef With Everyone

On the surface, the concept of this would not be so funny. However, it is the names that appear here that are truly hilarious. Okay sure, there are some rappers here which makes a lot of sense. Moreover, there are some massive institutions which is also pretty reasonable, all things considered. The funniest parts of the list are the ones that include YouTubers such as Anthony Fantano, Shawn Cee, and Scru Face Jean. Meanwhile, Red Pill YouTubers like Myron Gaines are also featured here.

There are some obscure names on the list here as well, including Cheesur who is a Kick streamer. It just goes to show that Drake has created a comical list of enemies for himself. You would be hard-pressed to find another artist who has angered or has been angered by such a diverse group of people. Either way, we’re sure those on the list will feel a sense of pride for making the cut.

50 Cent Explains Why Drake’s Kendrick Lamar-Inspired UMG Petition Is Hypocritical

50 Cent has become an elder statesman in the world of hip-hop and he has certainly seen it all throughout his career. Overall, he is a mogul himself, and he knows how to maneuver contracts. Furthermore, he has a very strong understanding of the music industry and how it has operated for decades. With that being said, he is the perfect person to weigh in on the fight between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and UMG.

As many of you already know, Drake has filed two petitions against UMG. In the first, he accused UMG of using bots to make Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” a viral hit. Ultimately, he thinks UMG did this to undermine his career and make sure they could pay him less on his next contract. Furthermore, Drake filed a petition for defamation given the allegations that were mentioned in “Not Like Us.” While speaking to legendary radio host Big Boy, 50 Cent gave his unfiltered thoughts on the petition.

50 Cent Gets Real About Drake

“Everything he (Drake) says they (UMG) did for Kendrick, is something they did for him,” Fif said. Simply put, 50 Cent is calling Drake a bit of a hypocrite here. One can just go back to 2018 when Drake was being featured as the cover art for Spotify playlists that didn’t even contain his music. The Scorpion rollout was a huge industry push, with Drake being forced down people’s throats. However, Drake does not seem to remember that.

As for the allegations that Kendrick used bots, well, that is impossible to say. “Not Like Us” was a mega-hit and was going to be a smash whether or not bots ever got involved. Kendrick’s new album GNX is the perfect example of how he can make a hit without ever mentioning Drake’s name. Only time will tell whether or not Drake’s petitions will prove to be successful. Or if they just completely backfire on him.

Big Boy Thinks “Something Was Done” To Keep Lil Wayne From Halftime Show

Kendrick Lamar has really been at the center of rap controversy in 2024. He was the consensus winner of the Drake battle, and now he’s set to perform at the Superbowl Halftime Show in 2025. It makes a lot of sense, frankly. Lamar is bigger than ever, having just scored the most significant single of his career. That hasn’t stop the rest of the rap community from criticizing his selection, though. Many have come out and stated that Lil Wayne should have been picked, given that his hometown of New Orleans is the location of the next Super Bowl. Big Boy is one of them.

The legendary radio host sat down with TMZ to discuss the controversial snubbing. Big Boy did not mince words when it came to his thoughts on the matter. He felt Lil Wayne should have been chosen to represent New Orleans. Furthermore, he thinks there’s some fishy things going on behind the scenes. He didn’t mention anybody by name, but JAY-Z and Roc Nation were ultimately the ones who made the final decision. “Something was done there,” Big Boy asserted. “I feel like there’s some people, getting back to the Super Bowl, saying, ‘There’s something there. There’s a reason why.’ And I don’t think people are so far off.”

Big Boy Wanted To See Young Money Reunite

The radio host also told TMZ that dismissed the notion that Lil Wayne is not relevant enough to play the Halftime Show. He pointed to Wayne’s legacy, his catalog, and the fact that he still appears on popular songs today. Furthermore, Wayne would have been able to call upon Young Money proteges like Drake and Nicki Minaj to make special appearances. “You don’t have to dig Wayne up,” Big Boy stated. “You don’t have to say, ‘Hey, remember Lil Wayne? Like, we need to get someone from New Orleans.’” The radio legend proceeded to dub Weezy the definitive New Orleans artist. “He’s that guy,” Big Boy said. “Young Money was that group.”

Big Boy’s sentiments have been shared by other big names like Master P and Cam’ron. The decision to go with Lamar, however, has fueled speculation that JAY-Z is less friendly with the Young Money camp than the public initially thought. By choosing Lamar, JAY-Z has slighted both Lil Wayne and Drake, who will undoubtedly be a focus of Lamar’s Super Bowl performance. It may have been inadvertent, but the fans have seen JAY-Z wield his power to throw digs at other artists. It’s not proven, but it’s definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

Kanye West Outlined Several Reasons Why ‘Vultures 1’ Sounds ‘Better Than Other Albums,’ Most Notably, Its Stripper-Inclusive Budget

Ye’s (the artist formally known as Kanye West) out-of-the-box thinking has been a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it has made the “Carnival” musician a decorated, highly-revered producer in rap. By the same token, it has cost him several relationships with brands and fellow recording artists.

Even still, his latest collaboration album, Vultures 1, with Ty Dolla Sign, has achieved massive feats on the music charts. In a now-deleted interview with Big Boy TV, Ye spoke about the business end of recording the project. While chatting with host Big Boy, he stressed the duo’s decision to take the direct-to-consumer route, influencing the project’s budget.

However, when Ye outlined the line items of Vulture 1’s expenses (which, of course, have a designated affordance for strippers, amongst other things), viewers couldn’t help but find the humor in the creative demands.

“A part of the reason why it’s so much better; obviously, we have super mega talents, but it costs a lot to make this album too,” he said. “We were in Saudi [Arabia] and Italy. Flights, car service, and strippers… you know it was expensive.”

Big Boy sarcastically added without missing a beat: “You gotta have that. It’s the lifestyle.”

Vultures 2 is currently in the works. As of today (March 16), it is unclear when fans should expect it.
