ScHoolboy Q Reacts To Anthony Fantano’s Review Of His New Album

Earlier this month, ScHoolboy Q released his new album Blue Lips. The project was his first since 2019’s CrasH Talk and kicked off what’s expected to be a major year for his label Top Dawg Entertainment. The album has an impressive roster of features including Rico Nasty, Devin Malik, Lance Skiiiwalker, Az Chike, Freddie Gibbs, Ab-Soul, Jozzy, and Childish Major all appear on the album. The album has received pretty strong reviews from fans and even a few key endorsements from critics.

One of those critics is the self-proclaimed internet’s busiest music nerd, Anthony Fantano. He posted a review of the record to his YouTube channel where he delivered mostly positive feedback for the album. He shouted out songs like “Blueslides” and “Pop” as being among his favorites on the record and gave the entire album a 7 out of 10. But after someone on Twitter brought the review to ScHoolboy Q’s attention, he had some thoughts. “I don’t tHink anytHings perfect but 9/10 would’ve been correct” he said in a tweet response. Check out his post and various fan reactions to it below.

ScHoolboy Q Thinks “Blue Lips” Is A 9/10

That wasn’t the only commentary ScHoolboy Q shared recently on his own discography. He took to Twitter earlier this week to share his own definitive ranking of his discography. Even that left some fans pretty shocked, specifically when he called his most acclaimed album Oxymoron his 4th best full-length work. Unsurprisingly, Blue Lips topped the list just ahead of his 2016 album Blank Face LP.

Additionally, he revealed that he spent the entire 5 years between Blue Lips and CrasH Talk working on a follow-up. He revealed to fans that the album went through a years-long process before finally arriving at the finished product. What do you think of Anthony Fantano’s rating of Blue Lips? Do you agree with ScHoolboy Q that the album should be a 9/10? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s Apple Music Bio Mentions Anthony Fantano, Fans Think It’s A Hack

As if Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign didn’t face enough issues already with releasing their album Vultures on Apple Music, it seems like someone hacked their artist bio. Either that, or they wanted to make the best troll artist description they could come up with while taking shots at the Internet’s busiest music nerd. Moreover, on their artist page on the streaming platform under the moniker ¥$, their bio is a bizarre and most likely fake Q&A excerpt that goes over some curious claims, including references to music critic Anthony Fantano of The Needle Drop. Hats off to whichever fan was cheeky enough to include this and do so successfully, or to Ye and Ty Dolla to taking very legitimate criticism of their work (particularly the former’s) with some sense of humor.

We’ll include the whole bio here in case it really is fake and Apple Music takes it down soon. Before that, this is notable because Anthony Fantano called Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures “unreviewable” for its quality and the antisemitic background behind it. That caused an absolute uproar online from Ye stans and melonheads alike. Whether you agree or not, it’s fair to say that things definitely went a little too far in folks’ responses to this.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign Raise Eyebrows With Likely Hacked Apple Music Bio

“In the artist’s words:,” Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s bio begins. “‘Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.’ ¥$’s first music experience as a group was listening to our second single ‘Cool beat 1’ and working on the critically acclaimed song ‘Back to Me.’” Also, the bio asks the duo their three all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and it mentions The College Dropout, Vultures, and Featuring Ty Dolla $ign. Here’s the first Fantano reference, made when “answering” a question about their favorite song of theirs on the platform. “‘CARNIVAL’ is the most popular Ye Dolla song by far. As stated by the YouTube famous music reviewer Anthony Fantano stated, ‘This song is absolutely amazing and is a shining light in Ye and Ty’s respective catalogues.’” If the backlash didn’t spoil it, he never said this in the first place.

Meanwhile, here’s how the “bio” closes out. The bio “asks”: “‘What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?’” Their “response”: “For one, being the #1 collaboration album worldwide in more countries than ever know. Secondly, being the best selling and most successful independent album on streaming platforms, and third being the first album to be known Unreviewable by Midtano.” Yikes. Check out their Apple Music page to see if it’s still there. Otherwise, log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Kanye West, Ty Dolla Sign, and Anthony Fantano.

Anthony Fantano Had The Internet Stunned After His OnlyFans Model Ex Posted NSFW Photos Of The Music Reviewer

Anthony Fantano has had a pretty interesting week. Overall, it began with his review of Vultures 1. The internet music reviewer was admonished by Kanye West fans for his thoughts on Ye’s new album. He said that the album was essentially “unreviewable.” Ultimately, Fantano made some very good points in his video. However, the Ye cult took it the wrong way, and he ended up as a trending topic on Twitter. The discourse was getting pretty dry, and the average music fan found themselves on Fantano’s side.

A couple of nights ago, Fantano began to trend online once again. However, this time it was for a completely different reason. An OnlyFans model was claiming to have had a relationship with the YouTube star. After people dared her to drop some photos, she did just that. In these photos, Fantano can be seen holding her from behind. There are other images in which he is grabbing her butt with pure joy on his face. These NSFW images came as a shock to fans, and as you can imagine, Twitter was abuzz with reactions.

Anthony Fantano Goes To War With Kanye West’s Fanbase After Calling “Vultures” An “Unreviewable” Album

Anthony Fantano is easily one of the most famous music reviewers on the entire planet. However, he is also extremely controversial for this very reason. Giving your opinions can lead to a lot of pushback. Overall, this is especially true when you are reviewing albums from artists who have a cultish fanbase. Kanye West is certainly one of those artists. His diehard fans will do anything he says, and they will twist narratives to make it seem like everyone else is incorrect. They think they have the whole world figured out, but oftentimes, it is just 15-year-olds looking to be entirely too edgy.

Before Fantano even attempted to review Vultures, Ye’s fans ganged up on him and predicted a negative review. The YouTuber listened to the album on a livestream and clearly did not enjoy it. However, instead of giving one of his usual reviews, he dubbed the album “Unreviewable.” In the video below, he makes a compelling case for why this is true. Ultimately, it boils down to Ye’s fans diluting the discourse and being extremely toxic. Fantano knows whatever he says won’t be taken in good faith, so why even bother?

Anthony Fantano Makes A Compelling Case

As you can imagine, this conclusion set off a fury of anger amongst Kanye’s hivemind. Numerous fans posted Fantano’s reaction to the Playboi Carti verse on “Carnival” and dubbed it “disrespectful.” Others said Fantano was trying to be a good person by bringing up the political aspects of Ye’s work. Moreover, plenty of other Ye stans resorted to name-calling. For instance, some pounced on Fantano for being divorced. Ironically enough, so is Kanye West. Sure, Kanye has married again, but let’s be for real for a second.

Ye Fans React

The average Kanye west stan on Twitter is filled with delusion and hate. A Fantano review should never make you this mad. As he says at the end of all of his videos, it is just his opinion. If you can’t handle that, then maybe the internet just isn’t for you. You can see some of the tweets from Ye stans, down below.

Anthony Fantano Gives Drake Another Strong 5 For “Scary Hours 3”

Earlier this year, Drake dropped one of the biggest rap records of 2023. For All The Dogs arrived with a ton of hype and a ton of high-profile features and sold tons of copies as a result. But while fans seemed to eat the album up, critics were much more mixed on it. Review conglomerate website Metacritic currently lists the album with a score of 53 out of 100 based on 13 critics who reviewed it.

That’s pretty much exactly in line with what the “internet’s busiest music nerd” Anthony Fantano gave the album. In a review posted shortly after the release of the album Fantano shared his thoughts. He took the chance to highlight plenty of tracks he likes including “Slime You Out,” “8am In Charlotte,” “Rich Baby Daddy,” and “First Person Shooter.” But he ultimately concluded that the project was very middle of the road and awarded it a score of Strong 5. Check out his thoughts on Drake’s newest EP below.

Anthony Fantano Hits Drake With His Second Consecutive 5

Despite claiming that he was going to take a hiatus from releasing new music shortly after the album dropped, he returned with a new EP. Once again, Anthony Fantano covered the project and once again he had mixed feelings. Fantano highlighted “Stories About My Brother” and “The Shoe Fits” as highlights on the short project. But ultimately he gave it the exact same score as the album that preceded it, a Strong 5.

Much like For All The Dogs, Drake brings up plenty of beef on Scary Hours 3. In the short tracklist he takes shots at Pusha T, Joe Budden, Kanye West, 6ix9ine, and more. Some of those were expected, as he’s often beefed with Pusha T over the years and has been back and forth with Joe Budden since the podcaster criticized For All The Dogs himself. What do you think about Anthony Fantano’s score for Drake’s Scary Hours 3 EP? Let us know in the comment section below.

Anthony Fantano Reacts To “For All The Dogs”: “This Is A Top 10 Drake Song”: Watch

The Internet’s busiest music nerd recently reacted to Drake’s For All The Dogs on stream, and his thoughts might surprise you. For those unaware, Anthony Fantano (The Needle Drop on YouTube) is arguably the most popular, respected, and simultaneously most notorious music critic online right now. Following a string of negative reviews, the Toronto superstar actually took shots at him head-on via a Twitter direct message, which Drizzy himself exposed. As such, you can imagine that people don’t expect Fantano to be an OVO fan. However, amid a lot of other takes, he actually had a lot of nice things to say about the new album.

For example, Anthony Fantano called Drake’s track “Tried Our Best” a top 10 track in his discography. Calling it “one of his best songs in a long time,” the reviewer called it a beautiful cut. Still, he said there were only a couple of bars that he was lukewarm on, so it’s a bit of a back-handed compliment. Regardless of that, The Needle Drop labeled it a great progression, much to the disbelief of his fanbase in the chat. Maybe that’s not because they disagree, but because the Connecticut native is usually not a fan of the 6 God’s material, especially the slower and smoother offerings.

Anthony Fantano Praises Drake’s “Tried Our Best”: Watch

All that said, Anthony Fantano still had his fair share of criticisms for the project on first impact. We’ll see what his review looks like in a few days, and it will be interesting to see if Drake responds to this in any way. After all, we know that he isn’t shy about blasting criticism of his work and reopening past wounds. In the case of For All The Dogs, that’s what’s happening right now with his Joe Budden feud, who wasn’t fond of it.

Meanwhile, The Needle Drop fanbase knows that the bar for a good Aubrey project in his eyes isn’t high. Perhaps this will become one of his favorite albums from him in years, but at the end of the day, who cares? All that matters is your thoughts on For All The Dogs, and that fans of either are getting a lot of entertainment right now. You can check out Melon’s full reaction to the LP here. With all that in mind, stay posted on HNHH for more on Anthony Fantano and the latest news and updates on Drake.

Anthony Fantano Is A “Colonizer” & “Outsider,” According To Killer Mike

Anthony Fantano is one of the more well-known names in the world of music critics. Still, that definitely doesn’t mean the public always agrees with his opinion. Just last month he made headlines by scoring Gunna’s surprise a Gift & a Curse album a measly 1/10 on his YouTube channel, The Needle Drop. Later on in June, Fantano gave a listen to hip-hop icon Killer Mike’s MICHAEL LP, which received a 79/100 rating on Metacritic.com shortly after its debut.

“If you’re familiar with Killer Mike, you know he’s no stranger to throwing political views out there. On previous records, I feel like that mostly worked in his favour,” the internet personality told viewers tuning in. “But on MICHAEL, I’m kinda scratching my head because I feel like a lot of it isn’t fully lining up,” Fantano added, ultimately scoring it a 6/10. “Are you 12 years old? Are you literally a 12-year-old boy? If you took these lyrics and you showed them to me and told me they were some kinda MAGA rapper from the internet, I would have to believe you,” he asked Mike during one rant.

Anthony Fantano Reviews MICHAEL

The 48-year-old has obviously gotten wind of the slander circulating about his album, and he didn’t hold back when addressing it on Twitter. “People have forgot that Mike is an artist above all and braggadocious rap is part of it. Y’all prefer he rap about drugs?” one Twitter user pondered in response to Fantano’s review.

To this, Mike wrote, “His opinion on life and culture cannot possibly understand.” He went on to say,”[It’s] laughable and shows you the arrogance of the outsider or colonizer. I encourage all to listen and feel something special. #MICHAEL, a truly Black Southern American experience.”

Anthony Fantano Hits Gunna With A 1 Out Of 10

Gunna came through with his comeback album on Friday, titled A Gift & A Curse. Overall, a lot of fans are loving this new project. Although many swore off Gunna due to snitching allegations, there are still those who are curious about what he has to say. For the most part, the artist did a solid job of addressing all of the claims. Moreover, he gave a project filled with steady flows and catchy beats. One can just look at the song “fukumean” to understand exactly what we mean.

Unfortunately for Gunna, not everyone is feeling this brand-new album. Perhaps the biggest critic of this project so far has been none other than Anthony Fantano. Fantano has always seemingly had it out for Gunna and artists like him, such as Lil Baby. The last time Wunna dropped a project, it received a “NOT GOOD.” This is a score reserved for projects that Fantano already had low expectations for. Needless to say, fans expected this latest project to get an unfavorable review.

Gunna Gets An Unfavorable Review

Well, that is exactly what happened. The famous critic was wearing a red flannel in the video, which was indicative of a bad score. Typically, he wears a yellow flannel when the album scores an eight or above. The red is brought out for scores of 3 and below. Upon watching the video, you will come to find out that he gave Gunna a measly 1 out of 10. Overall, this is actually a step up from the “NOT GOOD” he received last year.

For the most part, Fantano didn’t care for the production, the flows, the songwriting, or the lyrics. It is pretty clear that he is not a fan of Gunna’s sound whatsoever, and the score reflected that. Since dropping this review, Fantano has been inundated with hate and has been heavily criticized for his scoring of modern trap music. Let us know what you think of the review, down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the music world.

Anthony Fantano Compares Yeat To Kendrick Lamar

Music reviewer Anthony Fantano’s long history of controversial takes makes each new review a must-watch. For his hip-hop album reviews in particular, it can be tough to predict how he’ll feel about a project until he releases his YouTube review. This is especially true in the case of Drake, whose albums Fantano is hardly ever super fond of. But, that is what captivates fans the most about Fantano. His insight, or at times lack thereof, can come off as grouchy or misunderstanding of the genre. This has led to many actual rappers disagreeing with his take on their albums or their peers’ albums.

In Fantano’s latest review, he spoke about Portland rapper Yeat’s new LP Aftërlyfe. Emerging from the underground with unique vocal inflections and experimental trap production, Yeat continues to ascend with each new project. In prior reviews, Fantano has not taken to Yeat’s style. Using his 1-10 scale for rating albums, Fantano previously gave Yeat two scores of 4 for his albums Lyfë and 2 Alivë, respectively. But, for Aftërlyfe, Anthony had a different tone. Along with praising the album with a score of 7, he also had a few noteworthy comparisons for Yeat’s approach.

Anthony Fantano’s Bizarre Analogies

At around the 7-minute mark (7:05) of Fantano’s Aftërlyfe review, he discusses how Yeat’s vocal inflections resemble Kendrick Lamar’s. “Not to mention all the times on this thing where Yeat is making all matter of weird, wild, out there sounds with his mouth, dousing them with effects and just filling the backgrounds of these tracks with them,” he said. “He’s a man of a dozen voices at this point, like Kendrick Lamar. Except instead of switching his style up for some kind of narrative point, Yeat is doing it just to be a silly goose seemingly.”

Yeat and Lamar share very little in common in terms of artistry. However, Fantano’s point of vocal manipulation is not necessarily wrong. Each of the two rappers certainly channels different characters in their music, but for very different purposes. Also throughout his review, Fantano said he prefers Aftërlyfe to Whole Lotta Red by Playboi Carti, in which he scored a 5 in 2020. In prior videos, Fantano always accused Yeat of being too influenced by Carti. But now, he alleges that the student has surpassed the teacher. What do you think of both of these opinions by Fantano? Watch his entire review of Yeat’s Aftërlyfe above.
