Gunna’s Team Hands Out $100K In Gift Cards After Christmas Giveaway Cancelled

Shortly after Gunna copped an Alford plea, Walmart abruptly canceled the 5th Annual Gunna’s Great Giveaway. At this time, 1,000 families sign up for assistance from Gunna in partnership with Goodr.

“Gunna and the entire Goodr team were looking forward to brightening the holidays of the 1,000 families that registered. We are aware of how much the promised gifts meant to those families and we are collectively working to find an alternate solution. Registered families will be updated about the event’s status. Goodr apologizes for any inconvenience this unexpected turn of events has caused.”

Gunna didn’t allow Walmart to prevent his annual giveaway from going down, especially on the 5th year. The rapper and his team handed out $100K in gift cards to the families involved with the Gunna’s Great Giveaway. Jasmine Crowe, Goodr’s founder and CEO, issued a statement surrounding the event.

“… I wanted to inform you that we contacted all 1,000 families this week. Working with the City Of South Fulton, every family received their gift cards and gifts today. It’s important to note this event is in its 5th year. Since 2018, we have worked with Gunna to host his $100K Christmas Giveaway — this was not a first-time event,” Crowe wrote. She added that many families contacted her about the significance of the giveaway.

“It was essential to Gunna, his Great Giveaway Family Foundation, and Goodr to make sure that families received the assistance promised to them no matter what,” the message read.

We haven’t heard anything from Gunna since his release. However, it appears that he’s already back in the studio cooking up new music. At the same time, he continues to face backlash for admitting that YSL is a gang in court. It’s unclear what he has in store for 2023 but it looks like he’s trying to regain the momentum he had when DS4Ever dropped.

Nike Air Force 1 Low x ATL

The next Air Force 1 Low is inspired by the city of Atlanta. In the official images below, you can even see that the colorway has some vintage Hawks inspiration. Not to mention, the ATL script on the insole and the back heel or all great nods to the city.

Firstly, this shoe opens up with red overlays that extend to the back heel and even the tongue. Secondly, the toe box and side panels of this sneaker are a dark shade of orange. Lastly, the Nike swoosh is a brighter orange that lends itself well to some contrast.

Lil Baby Labels Atlanta The “Ruler Of The Culture”

Lil Baby says that the city of Atlanta is currently the “ruler of the culture” with regard to the state of hip-hop. Baby spoke about the influence of his hometown with Billboard during the LA3C festival in Los Angeles.

“Definitely, before I start, I will definitely give a big, big shout-out to Atlanta,” Lil Baby began. “The whole city. I definitely appreciate them for giving me recognition like that.”

He continued: “As far as culture, I feel like I been feeling. Atlanta is like the ruler of the culture as far as Hip Hop… It hasn’t been a new artist in like the last two or three years that really just emerged. But for the most part, I feel like Atlanta is still the ruler of Hip Hop’s core of culture.”

Atlanta is home to dozens of the biggest artists in hip-hop at the moment. In addition to Baby, Future, Young Thug, Gunna, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, Playboi Carti, and many more hail from the city.

Baby’s comments come after the city recognized him with his own day last month. November 13th will now be known as Dominique “Lil Baby” Jones Day in Atlanta.

Baby released his latest album, It’s Only Me, back in October. The project features guest appearances from Nardo Wick, Young Thug, Fridayy, Future, Rylo Rodriguez, Jeremih, EST Gee, and Pooh Shiesty. It debuted atop the US Billboard 200 while moving 216,000 album-equivalent units. At the time, he was able to chart 25 songs simultaneously, giving him control of one-fourth of the entire Billboard Hot 100.
