21 Savage has plenty to be proud of right now. That is mainly because he might have just come through with his strongest LP to date, american dream. Originally, it was thought of as a soundtrack to his upcoming biopic American Dream: The 21 Savage Story. For those who are wondering, that will drop on Independence Day. But, this project is his third solo studio album, so it is separate from the motion picture.

The tracklist is great from beginning to end and never fails to entertain you. One of the songs that perhaps brings the most energy is “née-nah.” Produced by 21’s most frequent producer, Metro Boomin, and maybe his best collaborator, Travis Scott, there is so much to like here. The great sample flip of Maclom McLaren’s “About Her” is a perfect compliment to the booming beat.

On the performance side, Travis opens things up with a very contagious flow without any auto-tune. 21 Savage Calls Kai Cenat After “American Dream” Release, Streamer Shares His Rating

It’s been an exciting few months for 21 Savage, from touring with Drake to finally securing his green card. It doesn’t look like the performer is showing any signs of slowing down either, kicking off 2024 with a brand-new project. He unveiled his third solo album American Dream today, complete with several impressive features. He’s joined by Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, Doja Cat, and more on the 15-track LP. So far, fans are loving his latest effort.

To celebrate, 21 Savage recently gave Kai Cenat a call during one of the 22-year-old’s streams. During their conversation, Cenat praised him for American Dream, even giving it a pretty solid rating out of 10. “Bro, I was listening to this sh*t bro,” the streamer began enthusiastically, “You did your thing, gang.”

Cenat continued to praise the rapper for the album. He pointed out the track “prove it” with Summer Walker in particular. “I was rating it one through ten right now,” he explained. “I want to say a nine. It’s first listen, it’s first listen… If I’m being completely honest with you bro, I’mma say 8.5.” 21 Savage seemed to be satisfied with Cenat’s rating, chiming in to say, “That’s good!”

“That’s hella good,” Cenat remarked. “I ain’t gon lie great album, bro. Deada**.” The new album isn’t the only thing 21 Savage has to be excited about these days, however. 21 Savage Takes Us Back To His Hometown Roots In “Redrum” Music Video

21 Savage is taking the music world by storm with his brand-new album american dream. It has been a long time coming for the UK-bred rap superstar. The last time we got a new project from him was back in December of 2018 with i am > i was. Fans are really enjoying what he is bringing to the record. While it is not a change-up from his signature murderous style, 21 has seemingly taken it to new and exciting heights. One of the songs that is deservedly receiving tons of positive feedback is the third track “redrum.”

It might be a bold take for how fresh this is in our minds, but this may be Savage’s best performance ever. “redrum” features a killer beat (pun intended) from London on da Track. It effortlessly weaves in a sample of “Serenata do Adeus,” which is a famous piece by Brazilian composer composer Vinícius de Moraes. According to fans, hundreds of singers have redone this classic. The one singing is Elizeth Cardoso or Elza Laranjeira. Regardless of who it is it sounds fantastic and haunting.

It fits perfectly because “redrum” is a reference to one of the greatest horror flicks of all time, The Shining. 21 even incorporated Jack Nicholson’s iconic line “Here’s Johnny!” The music video above is also out now. That belief is going around because they feel he could have recreated the shots from the movie and its redrum hallway scene. Nonetheless, the track is doing numbers already. 21 Savage And Doja Cat Play An NSFW Game Of ‘N.H.I.E.’ In Their Catchy Song From 21’s ‘American Dream’ Album

American Dream, 21 Savage’s new album and first solo release since 2018, boasts a stacked roster of featured artists, including (but not limited to) Burna Boy, Doja Cat, Lil Durk, Metro Boomin, Travis Scott, and Young Thug.

The fourth track on the album is “N.H.I.E.,” which presumably is being used as the acronym for the game Never Have I Ever, featuring Doja Cat. I would do almost anything to witness Doja participate in Never Have I Ever, but, luckily, all we have to do is click play on YouTube.

The smooth trap beat complements 21 and Doja’s flows. 21 Savage goes first, rapping about his now-resolved immigration status (“Green card, green tips in the strap / Keep talkin’ ’bout where I was born / Like a n***a won’t still get clapped”), his never-ending romantic options, and general wealth.

“That ain’t something I would do,” 21 Savage asserts in the chorus. “Hell nah, let you slide like it’s cool / N***a, hell nah, fake the truth / Play by rules / Play with you / That ain’t something I would do.”

And then, it’s Doja’s turn. Her list of non-negotiables is quite lengthy yet unsurprising, given her track record of doing exactly what she wants and giving approximately zero you-know-whats. Her verse is so perfectly Doja that it deserves a blockquote:

“Yeah, I would never lie / I would never try / I would never holler at you, I would never cry / I would never start no petty beef, that do not fly / I would never put myself beneath one of my idols / I wouldn’t submit (Money), I’d make you submissive / I can’t f*ck nobody man, but old girl need that assistance / I don’t beeline to no D, like, I don’t be like none these b*tches / If I feel like havin’ free time, hit the seaside with them fishes.”

21 Savage Dissed Gunna On “american dream,” Fans Theorize

21 Savage just dropped his new album american dream to usher in what will hopefully be a very stacked year for hip-hop. It’s a very busy week, what with Kid Cudi’s INSANO and a new Lil Nas X single, but the introspection, consistency, and weight of this new project stands tall among the crowd. What’s more is that fans are already diving into the lyrics and songs here to pinpoint what exactly he’s trying to say here. As such, fans found a potential reference to the Young Thug and YSL RICO case in which the Slaughter Gang boss might’ve dissed Gunna. It’s on the track “letter to my brudda,” a cut about the hardships of street life that many interpreted as a Thugger tribute, who features on the preceding song off the LP, “pop ur s**t.”

Furthermore, here’s the first part of 21 Savage’s first verse. “Once you cross that line, it ain’t no trying to fix it, you want me to forgive you, let’s be realistic,” he raps. “I can’t kick it with your kind like I tore my meniscus, how you go from co-defendant to a f***ing witness? They’ll stand on couches with you, but won’t stand on business. Woah, I watched everybody turn on my brother like he ain’t have them out here flying jets and f***ing b***hes. This s**t ridiculous.”

21 Savage’s “letter to my brudda”: Stream

Meanwhile, here’s the second part, in which 21 Savage switches to talk about “his brother.” “I feel your pain, my brother, I know you from the struggle, I know how hard you hustled just to take care of your mother,” he spits. “I know you took clothes off your back for n***as you call brother, I know how hard it get in this jungle. Trying to prevail without being tried like you no sucker. Huh, life’s a motherf***er, yeah, I know ain’t nobody perfect. But what’s the point in making it out if all they do is cuff you?”

Of course, this could apply to a lot of different situations, and there’s nothing specifically tying this to the ongoing YSL case. Still, it’s hard for fans to hear this and not think of Jeffery, especially given his feature on the preceding song on american dream. Regardless, the most salient and important message delivered here is empathy for those in much tougher situations, something we could all use a little more of. One person who’s noticed that is 21 Savage. Earlier this week he made a series of announcements that had fans buzzing. It started when he confirmed that a biopic based on his life story would be dropping soon. Fans were surprised to see that Donald Glover was involved in the project, though at the time his role was unclear. Later when a trailer for the film dropped, it was revealed that he will be playing Savage at an earlier point in the rapper’s life.
