21 Savage And Brent Faiyaz Offer Advice For A Romantic Rendezvous In The ‘Should’ve Wore A Bonnet’ Video

Atlanta rapper 21 Savage and Maryland crooner Brent Faiyaz have some advice for their romantic partners ahead of a rendezvous in their new video for “Should’ve Wore A Bonnet.” The video, shot in delirious lo-fi, follows the duo as they throw a high-class house party full of sexy women and their fellow entertainers. While they perform their seductive verses, bodies gyrate around them and rappers like Offset of Migos make cameo appearances. The low-key vibe fits the laid-back beat of the song, which appears on Savage’s January album, American Dream. They also performed the song together on Saturday Night Live earlier this year.

Savage is now just a little under a month away from his first US tour in five years to support the album. The American Dream Tour kicks off on May 1 in Vancouver with opening acts JID, Nardo Wick, and 21 Lil Harold. Savage’s previous 2019 tour wasa success, but any future movement was curtailed by his arrest by US Immigration and his five-year fight to secure citizenship against the threat of deportation to the UK. Meanwhile, Faiyaz is just six months removed from the release of his last album, Larger Than Life but has yet to announce a tour for the album.

Amid all of the drama between his Her Loss collaborator Drake and Metro Boomin, Future, and more, 21 Savage remains unbothered. As of late, the hitmaker continues to celebrate the success of his latest album, which he released in January of this year, American Dream. The project has been a success among fans so far, selling 131K album-equivalent units in its first week, up to par with his 2018 solo LP i am > i was.

21 is also gearing up to embark on a tour in support of the project, which begins in May. The UK-born performer will be joined by JID, 21 Lil Harold, and Nardo Wick. His newly secured green card will even him to stop in Vancouver. Before he sets off, however, he’s come through with a new music video for his track from the album with Brent Faiyaz, “should’ve wore a bonnet.”

21 Savage & Brent Faiyaz Team Up For New Video

The laid-back, VHS-inspired visual sees the two performers at a party surrounded by countless women, celebrity peers, and more. The dreamy, nostalgic music video fits the mellow track well, and stays on theme with the album’s other visuals. The duo also recently linked up to perform the song on Saturday Night Live in February. 21 was also joined by Summer Walker for a performance of “Prove It.”

It’s speculated that some shade has been thrown 21 Savage’s way lately, and fans are itching to hear him respond. It doesn’t look like he plans to, however. He’s instead been spending his days promoting his music, hitting up Disneyland, and more. What do you think of 21 Savage’s new music video for “should’ve wore a bonnet” with Brent Faiyaz? 21 Savage Announces Tour For “American Dream” With JID, Nardo Wick & More

2024 is clearly 21 Savage’s year, and he just gave fans another reason as to why it’s his for the taking. Moreover, he just announced The American Dream tour in North America in support of his new album of the same title, running from all of May to mid-June. Not only that, but the Slaughter Gang rapper will hit the stage along with fellow ATLiens JID and 21 Lil Harold, as well as Jacksonville’s own Nardo Wick. If you’re interested in going, it will kick off on May 1 in Vancouver and will wrap up with a hometown show in Atlanta on June 15. Furthermore, the presale goes live on Thursday (February 29) at an unspecified time, with the password “DREAMTOUR” getting you access.

In addition to all the hype surrounding 21 Savage’s american dream, this also completes a full promo rollout for the big release. For example, he recently performed on Saturday Night Live with special guests, which is a much more controlled performance environment. As such, fans are more excited to see the London native in a full tour setting again, just like his recent It’s All A Blur run with Drake. Speaking of the U.K., fans wonder whether The American Dream tour will include a European leg.

Of course, 21 Savage already had his homecoming show there following his immigration struggles and citizenship status. But a lot of other places want to hear what he can bring to a full arena, especially with this new album’s material in mind. Tracks like “née-nah,” “redrum,” and “dangerous” would absolutely pop off in the pits, and the “out for the night” MC has the backing and status to warrant some impressive visuals and set-ups. This isn’t even accounting for the skill, energy, and complete rap performance package that JID, Nardo Wick, and 21 Lil Harold will provide.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old also found some extra promo for his moves in an unexpected place. Still, a gambling scam scandal with streamer Adin Ross was something he probably did not expect to shock as much as it did. Regardless, it doesn’t make excitement for this tour any less palpable. 21 Savage Put His Creative Vision On Full Display With A Performance Of ‘Redrum’ On ‘Saturday Night Live’

21 savage snl
NBC

21 Savage made a much-anticipated appearance on screen tonight (February 24). No, not in the mythical movie that was said to accompany his American Dream album, but as the captivating musical guest on tonight’s Saturday Night Live. In his first performance, 21 delivered a fire set, featuring “Redrum” from American Dream.

The performance opened with a violinist playing an orchestral intro to the song. Ballet dancers move smoothly about the stage, as 21 emerges front and center. 21 maintains a natural stage presence, displaying his star power as he raps. But the visuals brought back an artistic element that has been missing within the mainstream landscape amid the content and streaming era. If this performance is proof of anything, it’s that 21 Savage is what hip-hop needs right now.

In a piece for Interview, 21 shared that he is having fun playing with fashions for his stage looks.

“Being able to perform is something I am always grateful for, I enjoyed showcasing more fashion looks while I’m on tour,” he said. “I kicked off my tour in Paris at Zenith and wore some looks by brands I like to work with Celine and Prada—I am looking forward to keep building my tour looks with some more amazing designers.”

You can see the performance of “Redrum” above.

Is The 21 Savage ‘American Dream’ Movie Real?

Earlier this month, before 21 Savage released his new album American Dream, he hyped up the project with a trailer for a movie. It was called American Dream: The 21 Savage Story, starring Donald Glover and Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin portraying the rapper at different points in his life.

However, 21 has a bit of a history with trickery, like when he and Drake did a mock Vogue cover to promote their album Her Loss. So, what’s the deal with the American Dream movie?

Is The 21 Savage ‘American Dream’ Movie Real?

It’s not, no.

Savage made the reveal in an interview with Shannon Sharpe on a new episode of Club Shay Shay (as Complex notes). Sharpe asked if the movie was coming out soon, and Savage let the cat out of the bag, answering, “Nah, that was a parody.”

Sharpe was insistent that Savage’s life story actually could make for an interesting movie, though, to which the rapper replied, “I feel like it could be one day. They would hate on it now, though. Because they gon’ be like, ‘What the f*ck 21 Savage deserve a story for, a movie about him for? What he did?’ You know how they do.”

So, American Dream: The 21 Savage Story isn’t real, but we’ll always have the trailer, which you can revisit above. Also check out the full interview with Sharpe below.
