Ryan Garcia Responds To Devin Haney’s Battery & Fraud Lawsuit

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney have a pretty explosive and scandalous rivalry, and their fight earlier this year in April continues to haunt them. Garcia won that bout, but officials later ruled it a no-contest due to his ingestion of the performance-enhancing drug ostarine. This week, Haney filed suit in New York, accusing his opponent of battery and fraud both before and during their match-up. He pursues unspecified damages and maintains that “his contest should have adhered to fair rules.” “While Devin Haney agreed to participate in a prize fight against Garcia, at no time did he agree to engage in a bout against an individual who had taken a performance-enhancing drug,” the lawsuit reportedly reads.

Now, Ryan Garcia has responded to Devin Haney’s lawsuit via an Instagram post. “I’m being sued for doing my job,” he wrote. “This fight has been a Netflix documentary but this right here is the finale. Your honor he simply struggles with left hook syndrome.” As for the fraud element of this debacle, Haney claims that Garcia “tried to make weight and failed” when it came to his pursuit of Haney’s WBC junior welterweight title.

Ryan Garcia’s Response To Devin Haney’s Lawsuit

In addition to Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney’s lawsuit also accuses Golden Boy Promotions of breach of contract concerning these circumstances. Haney claims the situation provoked “physical injury, reputational harm worth millions, and emotional and mental distress.” Previously, he had reacted to Garcia’s suspension from boxing. “I want to thank the commission and the fans who stood by me during this whole process,” Haney told ESPN. “The facts are the facts, and I wasn’t on an even playing field. Happy I was able to receive justice for what happened. It’s all part of my story and it’s only going to make me better. I look to enjoy this time with my family and friends and see what’s next.

“I’m a clean athlete and boxing is a brutal sport where one fight can literally change your life,” Devin Haney added concerning the Ryan Garcia situation. “I think it’s important for fighters to be clean, and I want to become an advocate for clean athletes for my experience in this situation.”

Consequence Returns After 13 Years With “Nice Doing Business With You”

Consequence was hyping up Nice Doing Business With You in April of 2022, labeling it as essentially a perfect summer album. “I’m looking forward to people being able to ride out for the spring and the summer”, he told AllHipHop. Not too long after that, the New York veteran would go on to release its stacked lead single “Blood Stain”. Featuring production from Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Ojivolta, and 88 Keys, it was (and still is) a tremendous track and one that embodies Consequence’s trademark jazzy/soulful style.

However, despite a few loose singles, it seemed like Nice Doing Business With You was going to be shelved. But hope was restored in the summer of this year with another Ye collab, “No Apologies”, and “Overdose” with YNW Melly. The latter might seem unlikely, however, according to Hot 97, this cut was also in the works for a while. Consequence says it went something like, “He literally was just like, ‘Yo, I got you OG yeah,’ wrote the s***. He just was on some, ‘Yo, yeah I got you, Unc,’ type s***. So, he ain’t do nothing but respect me…Then literally the next week I think is when that s*** started cooking with the case… So I think this might be the last feature he did”. Overall, we are just happy to have ‘Quence back and we are even more ecstatic that the quality is high even with a 13-year gap in between albums.

Cardi B Continues To Dismiss Offset Scandal With Another Gorgeous Paris Fashion Week Look

Cardi B is dealing with a social media firestorm right now due to her online spat with her ex husband, Offset. They accused each other of some pretty disrespectful and hurtful behavior, mainly cheating allegations from one side to another. However, any fan of either artist knows that this is far from the first time that they’ve clashed over these issues. Still, amid it all, the Bronx femcee is not acting bothered in the public eye. She pulled up to the Vivienne Westwood show for Paris Fashion Week this weekend in a colorful graffiti dress and fishnets, and fans can’t believe she had a baby just mere weeks ago.

Elsewhere, the hip-hop media world is reacting to the Cardi B and Offset drama, including Melyssa Ford on The Joe Budden Podcast. “I don’t believe it,” she argued. “Do I believe that there’s a possibility that there might have been some text exchanges that might be a little too colorful, and he’s made a huge assumption based on the texts? It’s quite possible, yes. But do I believe that she actually had sex with another man while she was pregnant? No, I don’t believe that for a single, solitary second. And also, I do believe that there is the potential that she allowed him to see those f***ing texts to let him think something as payback for all the bulls**t.”

Cardi B’s Latest PFW Look

For those curious, the latest update in this saga is a Cardi B pop-off on producer ATL Jacob after he allegedly shaded her. “P***y a** b***h stop playing with me,” she tweeted at him. “You a whole man and stop shading me when I don’t even know you. I got a n***a for you to square up with tho. If you really got an issue. Send your best b***h.”

Meanwhile, Cardi B also engaged in other extracurricular ventures to distract herself (or dismiss) the Offset situation. For example, she partnered with the WWE for an inaugural two-night Summer Slam event for next year. Hopefully the two can hash things out privately and at least lay off each other on social media. It might be notable and important to report on and discuss, but that doesn’t make the rift any less ugly.

Hunxho Gives Us Two Emotionally Charged Cuts With “Part Of The Plan” & “Hold Me Down”

2024’s XXL Freshman Class has some potential. It’s not always easy to predict who will and who won’t breakout in the future. But with this year’s edition, there a couple that we are starting to see the vision with One of those is Hunxho, an Atlanta native who is already developing a pretty recognizable melodic delivery. His sound is also a nice blend of traditional trap with some hints of introspection, emo rap, and R&B. We would argue that all of these elements are on these two new tracks from Hunxho, “Part Of The Plan” and “Hold Me Down”.

The six-year veteran has been dropping quite a bit since achieving the honor, with six singles and a mini project making up the releases so far. The latter of them, Before The Album, had some solid ideas at its core, however, there are some slight mixing errors that we noted. Hopefully, when the real LP arrives, Hunxho will be able to correct them. “Part Of The Plan” and “Hold Me Down” sound like they were put together pretty flawlessly, including the messaging of each one. The former is a mini commentary on the “bulls***” state of music, as well as his goals and ambitions. “Hold Me Down” is a love cut in which Hunxho is yearning for a deep connection. Overall, both have a lot to like, so spin ’em below.

Quotable Lyrics From “Part Of The Plan”:

You give ’em a chance, they’d probably talk s*** about God
They talk s*** about n****s who done made it, beat the odds
They can say whatevеr, but don’t act like I ain’t raw
If she older than my agе, then we can’t date, is that a law?
I never seen so many people judge like they Allah
Agreein’ to the hate like it ain’t fake, that s*** be flaw

ASAP Bari Says “It Can Never Be Over For Drake” After Kendrick Lamar Battle

At this point, any mention of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle this year probably sounds nauseating to you. But folks continue to debate and discuss it with a lot of fervor, especially now that we are seeing the outcome of it play out. Some fans just wanted a great lyrical exchange, others demanded proof and for whoever was the most “right” or “correct” to win, and a select few wanted the winner to destroy the loser’s career. That last possibility was never a reasonable end scenario either way, and during an appearance on the No Funny S**t program, ASAP Bari said that it’s not over for Drake.

“Nah, it can never be over for Drake. Drake is Drake,” A$AP Bari posited. “Hell no, hell no. It can never be over for Drake, honestly. I just feel like – Well, I was mad at the point of, like… I feel like, you know, if you gon’ start some s**t, finish it, you feel me? But that’s what we from. We from Harlem, we from New York, just period. You know, I’ma start a fight, I’ma finish it, you feel me? Nah, I feel like it was something that ticked him off and he wasn’t trying to take it that far. You understand?

ASAP Bari On Drake

“But, you know, I don’t think it’s over, you feel me?” A$AP Bari continued. “The fighting ain’t over until you see a n***a fall down, you feel me? So he could probably just be sitting back seeing what’s going on, and the rounds could go back, you feel me? There could be a part two, you feel me? I think they should’ve went down for three rounds. You lost the first round, let’s see what goes the second round, you feel me? Drake is the GOAT, man. Hell no, never over Hov.”

For those unaware, A$AP Bari does have some alleged issues with A$AP Rocky, and we all know how he and Drake feel about each other. But Bari is still correct in assessing that to count the Toronto superstar out entirely is an illusion. Round 2 is out of the question, but he’s enough of a hitmaker to brush a loss off.

Kanye West Sings “Only One” To North In Wholesome China Concert Moment

Kanye West’s China concert series has been notable for many reasons, whether it’s new teased tracks or big announcements. But it also held some wholesome West family moments, even amid all the controversy and backlash that Ye has received over the years. During one part of his second show in the country this year, he sang his 2014 track “Only One” to its inspiration: his daughter North West. Not only was it a heartfelt and touching moment with one of the Chicago artist’s most gorgeous cuts ever, but it also symbolized the growth of their relationship, as North is now much older and a musical artist in her own right on a couple of her dad’s songs.

Speaking of North’s dad’s songs, it looks like we will get a lot more records from him very soon. Kanye West also announced his upcoming solo album BULLY at this China show, even previewing a new track called “Beauty And The Beast.” Of course, we wouldn’t get our hopes up too much: Yeezy fans have been in this boat before. Whether it’s Yandhi, Good A** Job, or any other of the various scrapped projects over the years, we won’t believe these announcements until they manifest.

Kanye West Sings To North

What’s more is that this adds to more recent speculation about Kanye West’s current and past moves. For example, Consequence recently re-sparked speculation around how Ye and Kendrick Lamar apparently have a whole album’s worth of unreleased material produced by Madlib. Hardcore fans of the designer know that these rumors began years ago, and yet we have no new collabs to account for them. As such, it will probably remain a hidden hip-hop treasure.

Still, all this conversation around Kanye West’s next moves put the future of his VULTURES collaborative album series with Ty Dolla $ign into question. Ty says that VULTURES 3 is still happening, but considering the shoddy release of its predecessors, some fans would rather not demand it as vehemently as they did before. Regardless of all of that, it’s at least nice to see Ye share these special moments with his family and his fans.

Orlando Brown Mocks Lil Wayne While Addressing Super Bowl Halftime Show Controversy

Everybody has a hot take of their own about the Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl halftime show debate. However, no matter what choice you would’ve made if you were in charge of the selection process, we can all agree that we don’t need to disrespect either artist to make our arguments. But Orlando Brown is different. During a recent appearance on Cam Capone News, he gave his take on the whole situation and revealed his thoughts on Jay-Z’s (alleged) decision to purposely pick K.Dot and omit NOLA native Weezy despite Super Bowl LIX taking place in his city. But while doing so, the actor mocked the New Orleans legend and posited that he would be a poor performer.

“I think that Jay-Z made the best decision ever,” Orlando Brown’s remarks on Lil Wayne began. Then, he proceeded to imitate the rapper’s nasal, warbled, and mumble-heavy vocal tone and delivery. “What the f**k is that, bro?” Brown continued. “‘Put that s**t on stage!’ *laughs* ‘That’s hot!’ When you listen to [“A Milli”] today, it sounds like, ‘*gibberish*.’ If you actually go back and listen to the record, it’s just like, ‘What the f**k was he saying? He’s high. On pills.’ *laughs*.” At least he actually knew the “A Milli” lyrics…

Orlando Brown Wouldn’t Have Picked Lil Wayne For The Super Bowl Halftime Show

On the other hand, here’s what New Orleans native Big Freedia told TMZ concerning the Super Bowl halftime show debate. “I don’t think that it was just, you know… People don’t really know, I guess, whose decision it was to have the headliner or whatever,” he shared. “And I think that, you know, me on the outside looking in, I think that Apple was the one who was able to pick the headliner because of that spot that Apple holds for the halftime show. A lot of people blaming Jay-Z, a lot of people blaming this one and that one. I think that it could be a collaboration effort for Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar to perform together. Who knows, you know, where the show might end up?

New Orleans is definitely sad that Lil Wayne is not the headliner,” Big Freedia continued. “I think that they should have had some Southern artists for sure on the ticket. You know, I think the Cash Money and No Limit family should’ve definitely been involved. But who knows what’s going to happen with the days ahead? I think [Kendrick inviting Wayne to perform] would be a great gesture. And I think it would be a nice thing for Kendrick Lamar to do. I think he would definitely, you know, get his love from Louisiana and from down South if he was to make that happen.”

Ciara & Busta Rhymes Stunt On The Haters With “Wassup”

Ciara seems to be on her more hip-hop centric vibes lately because this new Busta Rhymes collab, “Wassup”, is definitely keeping that theme going. Just last month, the Texas born R&B icon put out “Run It Up” with BossMan Dlow in a surprising turn of events. Overall, this team up was a shocker just purely based on their respective sounds alone. But we have to give it its due for not being as much of a mess as it sounds on paper. Thankfully, Ciara is putting her better foot forward on “Wassup”.

She sounds much more at home on this club-friendly instrumental. Speaking of that, it seems like CiCi is aiming for that sort of vibe on her next record. Nothing is confirmed yet, nor has it been announced. But given how little time there is in between tracks, there’s a good chance we get that reveal sooner than later. For Ciara and Busta, this is just their second time being on a song, with their last link-up being on Janet Jackson’s “Feedback (So So Def Remix)” in 2008. “Wassup” is a pretty standard flex anthem, with Mr. Rhymes bringing his signature speedy flow and Ciara sounding like Nicki Minaj at points in her vocal delivery. Overall, it’s a solid effort that should get some decent play at nightclubs across the country.

See, we done bought the bar, don’t worry ’bout the price (That’s right)
