Why Did J. Cole Name His Album ‘The Fall Off?’

It has been over two years since J. Cole’s last album The Off-Season, and fans can’t wait for his next album, The Fall Off. He’s been teasing it for some time, but what exactly does he mean by titling it “The Fall Off?”

He’s gone into some detail before, but today, he gave much more insight while appearing on Lil Yachty’s A Safe Space Podcast. He tells his “Secret Recipe” collaborator that the title originated from a moment in which he felt “comfortable” with his success and began contemplating retirement.

“Oh, you lost a step in this regard,” he told himself, talking about his usually witty lyrics. “I had a real talk with myself… ‘You made it to where you wanted to make it to. Do you wanna keep going or do you just want to chill and go start a family? Do you want to retire right now?’”

The answer was that if he was going to walk away from the rap game, he wanted to do so at the height of his powers, not after a long … fall off.

Cole previously addressed the subject in his cover story for Slam, saying, “It was the first time that I became conscious of, like, Oh, this is where n****s fall off. This is where it happens. This is the point where it takes place, where the n****s that you love, when it just didn’t hit the same. It was literally like looking at a fork in the road. OK, you can go this way and continue to grow and get better, and push yourself and still feel feelings of exhilaration when you tap into new sh-t and move on. Or, you can go this way and live a more comfortable life that’s less inspired, less push, less stretching yourself, and getting out of your comfort zone.”

Latto Says She Knew That “Put It On Da Floor” Would Be A Hit

Last year, Latto had her breakthrough commercial moment with her song “Big Energy.” The track was an absolute smash hit that ended up as one of the highest-selling songs of 2022. She didn’t slow down much going into 2023 with her next hit “Put It On Da Floor” dropping early this year. While the song did initially make a splash, it was once Cardi B teamed up for a remix that it hit its peak. After debuting at number 13 on the Hot 100 the song hovered in the top 50 for months.

“I ain’t gonna lie, ‘Put It On Da Floor’ I knew was gonna go,” she begins after being asked if she can tell which songs will be hits. Latto Knows When A Song Will Be A Hit

If Latto really does recognize a hit when she hears one, then she must have lit up for “Seven.” Her collaboration with K-pop star Jung Kook was an instant smash debuting at the number-one spot on the Hot 100. Though it isn’t technically a rap song, the track still made Latto the first rapper to appear at the top spot on the Hot 100 in 2023.

The song just hit another impressive milestone. It officially became the fastest song to hit 1 billion streams in Spotify history. The track currently sits a just over a billion streams and with Jung Kook’s new album due to drop this week it could get a substantial boost. Meek Mill Seeking Major Distributor For “Dream Chaser Records”

Meek Mill needs help, and though fans might not be able to do much, they can annoy major labels as much as possible to complete the mission. Moreover, he recently took to Twitter to ask for assistance in taking his endeavors, career, and artistic oversight to new heights. “Looking for major distribution for ‘DREAM CHASER RECORDS’ asap!” the Philly MC expressed on the social media platform on Thursday (November 2). What’s more is that he actually has a couple of options if he wanted to get in touch with the game to find a loophole around this. Furthermore, that’s because if the Roc Nation affiliate is taking to Twitter for this, maybe he hasn’t had much luck by traditional means.

As such, perhaps his good friend and frequent collaborator Rick Ross, who’s dropping a collab album with him very soon, could help. After all, Rozay offered to distribute Kanye West’s new album and seemed very open to the idea. Of course, that comes with a lot of public baggage due to Ye’s controversial statements and behavior as of late, but what better way to get press than to ruffle some feathers? Overall, it stands to reason that a partnership between Dream Chasers and Maybach Music Group would be a fitting and fruitful venture for Meek Mill.

Meek Mill Issues A Call For A Major Distributor To Help Dream Chasers

Not only that, but this is especially relevant considering the major developments and strides that he’s made in his career recently. For example, Meek Mill recently announced that authorities officially and fully cleared his criminal record, overcoming a tumultuous and far too cumbersome part of his life and career that is too deep to sum up quickly. In addition, he also revealed that his next album will be a sequel to Championships, establishing more legacy within his career. Hopefully the 36-year-old is able to carry out his goals with or without this major distribution.

Meanwhile, it’s undeniable that it would certainly be a boost. We don’t know exactly what this is for, though; is it for his own projects or does he want stronger resources to uplift his own artists? Either way, both goals are attainable at the same time. For more news and the latest updates on Meek Mill, stay logged into HNHH.

Benny The Butcher Praises J. Cole For Recognizing His Status In The Game

Benny The Butcher and J. Cole have a lot of love for each other, not just as collaborators, but as top-dog lyricists in the game. It’s an appreciation and respect that they often talk about, especially when it comes to Benny’s belief that Cole is the best rapper right now. Moreover, he recently spoke about the Dreamville boss’ important place within hip-hip to Elliott Wilson on the Rap Radar podcast. During the Griselda alum’s remarks, he lamented many of the most commercially successful or prominent MCs today “not [being] worried about pushing the culture forward.” But the North Carolina spitter knows this very well, and that’s why The Butcher gives him his flowers whenever he gets the chance.

“A lot of things that he do that he don’t have to do,” Benny The Butcher explained. “I know we can say that about a lot of people but it seems to me like he take interest in things like that, and that’s the difference. He realizes his responsibility of him being the top guy. And make no mistake, he’s the top guy. Cole is the top f***ing guy in this s**t right now, you know what I’m saying? And for him to understand there’s a responsibility just says a lot about him, ’cause a lot of these dudes don’t, man.”

Benny The Butcher Speaks On J. Cole As A Hip-Hop Leader On The Rap Radar Podcast

In addition to this discourse, the Buffalo, New York native recently gave his thoughts on one of J. Cole’s most praised talents as a rapper. At the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards, HipHopDX asked him what Cole’s best feature of all time is. “Honestly, ‘Johnny P’s Caddy,’” Benny The Butcher remarked, clearly with no sort of bias to a song that appeared on his album. Jokes aside, it definitely deserves that praise regardless of who you are. “I have to rank it at the top. Y’all know why. He’s on there with another spitter. I don’t know, bro, I gotta go check that [Lil Yachty] song out. I was listening to it the other day. I’ma listen to it better, but I think ‘Johnny P’s Caddy’ Cole verse still got the best title.”

Meanwhile, what do you think about all this? Is the “No Role Modelz” icon a role model in hip-hop or could he be doing more to carry out the weight of his responsibility? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments section down below. Also, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Benny The Butcher.
