Frank Ocean in Talks to Direct First Feature Film

Frank Ocean is ready to take Hollywood by storm.

The singer is looking to write and direct his first feature film. According to Discussing Film, talks are already underway with distributors A24 and 2AM.

Production is slated to begin this fall and wrap before the new year. Ocean is reportedly eyeing New Mexico as a potential location to film his feature directorial debut, which has the internal working title Philly.

The 34-year-old Grammy winner previously showcased his filmmaking skills when he wrote and directed his 2016 visual album Endless. The 46-minute performance was live-streamed and showed Ocean silently woodworking on a staircase.

2AM is a relatively new production company, which has developed two films so far, the upcoming slasher Bodies, Bodies, Bodies and Past Lives, A24’s yet-to-be-released drama. The executives behind 2AM have worked on films including Vox Lux, American Woman, Zola, and The Electrical Life of Louis Wain.

Ocean has collaborated with A24 in the past. He wrote the forward for Barry Jenkins’ screenplay book release of Moonlight. His music was also featured prominently throughout Trey Edward Shults’ 2019 drama Waves.

Ocean, whose last album Blonde was released in 2016, is reportedly trying to coordinate the film shoot around his busy schedule, which includes a headlining slot at Coachella in 2023.

Ralo Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison

Ralo could be spending the next eight years behind bars.

A judge has sentenced the Atlanta rapper, born Terrell Davis, to eight years in federal prison. He will receive four years credit for time served and another one-and-a-half years for good time before being released to a halfway house.

His team shared the announcement with fans on Ralo’s official Instagram page on Wednesday (June 1).

“The Judge sentenced Ralo to 8 years in Federal Prison, he was given over 4 years credit time served,” read the statement. “The BOP has also credited him 1 & 1/2 year for good time.”

The 1017 Records signee could be home as soon as next year. “He was recommended 1 year ankle monitor after the halfway house approve his home address; which will bring him home to us late next year, but our goal is for him to complete his GED or RDAP Drug program so we can get another year off his sentence. That will bring him home to us in less than a year. We need prayer 🙏 hands… #FreeRalo.”

According to XXL, Ralo was sentenced back in March to 97 months in prison after pleading guilty to six counts including conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute at least a kilo of marijuana, felony possession of a firearm, and money laundering.

He was arrested in April 2018 on federal drug conspiracy charges when police searched his private plane at the Atlanta airport and discovered nearly $1 million worth of marijuana. He pleaded not guilty and later turned down a five-year plea deal. In 2020, he was granted bail, but it was revoked after a judge accused Ralo of continuing to sell drugs from inside jail.

While he’s been incarcerated, Ralo has released multiple projects including 2019’s Free Ralo 2021’s Political Prisoner.

Cardi B Is Enamored With A Pair Of Dolls That Look Strikingly Like Her And Offset

Whether it’s a Snapchat filter, a drawing from a caricature artist, or a customized video game avatar, it’s always fun to see a rendering of yourself that presents you in a different light. Cardi B got a taste of that earlier this week when she shared a photo of dolls that look a great deal like herself and Offset.

In the three photos, the Offset doll lovingly embraces the Cardi figure from behind. Both are decked out in teeny-tiny jewelry, while Cardi wears a pink bikini and Offset has a sleeveless, all-white look. Cardi captioned the post, “Okay then ….MOOD [crying-laughing emoji].”

Speaking of dolls, Cardi B actually once had some big plans of her own on that front. Back in March 2021, she visited Today to announce she was working on a doll that looked like her and hoped to expand the project to include other artists, too, with the end goal being better representation in the doll space for people with different looks. By the end of the year, though, it was reported that the entire line had been canceled due to manufacturing and shipping delays caused by COVID-19, as well as quality concerns.

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Future’s Inebriated ‘Puffin On Zootiez’ Video Successfully Recreates The Feeling Of Being Stoned

Another standout single from Future’s new album, I Never Liked You, has received the video treatment. Unlike the video for “Wait For You,” which imagines Future and Drake as medieval knights, or the more abstract “Keep It Burning” video with Kanye West, the new video for “Puffin On Zootiez” takes a more literal approach, visually recreating the feeling of being extremely stoned with warped, smoky visuals. Future mainly appears in blurry, out-of-focus close-ups and performance shots seen through kaleidoscopic lenses.

I Never Liked You, Future’s ninth studio album, was also one of his most successful, landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 222,000 equivalent units sold — the biggest release of 2022 at the time. While that number was eventually blown away by Kendrick Lamar and his new album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, those 222,000 units are reflective of Future’s continued popularity after over a decade in the rap spotlight. In addition to being a big moment for Future, though, it also gave collaborators like Drake and Tems big accomplishments. “Wait For You” gave Drake his tenth No. 1 single on the Hot 100, making him the first rapper with that achievement. Tems’ appearance on the single also made her the first African artist to ever debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100.

Quotable Lyrics
Homicidal thought, bled on the streets and not a stretcher
All this mud on my feet, baby, I’m nothin’ like the rest
That one wrong move’ll get you shot
I pray to God I’m not next up
