Ice Spice Failed To Live Up To Her Name, Joining The ‘Hot Ones’ Hall Of Shame

In the annals of Hot Ones history, only a handful of the show’s guests have been unable to complete the gauntlet of Wings Of Death. Unfortunately for breakout star Ice Spice, she has joined the rolls of the Hall Of Shame, failing to finish her interview, despite having “Spice” in her name (I swear I did not mean for that to rhyme). At least she’s in good company; fellow rappers who also dropped the ball include E-40, Lil Yachty, Pusha T, Quavo, and Shaquille O’Neal (if we count his four rap albums of the 1990s).

The “Boy’s A Liar” rapper is working up to the release of her debut album, Y2K, which she said releases this year after finishing it earlier this month. Host Sean Evans got some insight into her creative process, which is the opposite of the usual “record 50 songs and whittle it down” approach. He also invited Spice to explain how she writes her catchy hooks, her car test, and her bond with producer RiotUSA, including the iconic “Stop playin’ with ’em, Riot” tag.

However, despite Ice’s prediction that “I think I can get through this,” but as with others before her, the sauce that took her out was the infamous #8: Da Bomb: Beyond Insanity. She tapped out just ahead of wing #9, saying, “I’m not gonna do that to my throat,” as the Hot Ones producers played a montage of prior early withdrawals. She seemed to be a good sport about it, and maintained her composure better than some (there probably won’t be too many memes hitting the socials from this episode) while delivering some truly good answers, she just couldn’t get over the line. I didn’t do a very good job of burying the lede here. Yes, Tanner Adell is on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter. According to Genius, Adell is featured on “Blackbiird,” Beyoncé’s aforementioned cover of The Beatles’ 1968 classic “Blackbird.”

In February 2023, Kyle Denis examined Black artists forging a path on TikTok for Uproxx and described Adell as having a sonic profile that “blends the vocal bombast of a young Carrie Underwood with the lyrical flourishes of early Taylor Swift.” This February, after Beyoncé released “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em” during Super Bowl LVIII, Adell posted something on X (formerly Twitter) that packs a much heavier punch now: “As one of the only Black girls in [the] country music scene, I hope Bey decides to sprinkle me with a dash of her magic for a collab.” Well, she did!

Is Drake Featured On Bfb Da Packman’s ‘Olympic Sh*t Talkin?’

While much of the world prepares for the arrival of Beyoncé’s long-awaited country album Cowboy Carter, stalwart fans of Flint rapper Bfb Da Packman have been hyping the impending release of his album, Forget Me Not. Rap fans were surprised and enthused when he shared the tracklist, which promised a Drake feature on the song “Olympic Sh*t Talkin” — especially with, well, circumstances. However, there appears to be a wrinkle: According to Complex on Twitter, Drake doesn’t appear on the song at all.

However, Packman responded to Complex’s post, calling it “Fake news” shortly after.

So, which is it? Is Drake featured on ‘Olympic Sh*t Talkin’” or not?

According to Packman, the discrepancy is due to timezones and a recent change to the album’s tracklist with his distribution service, TuneCore. It looks like Drake’s verse came through after the album was uploaded to the distribution service, so an update was made that hasn’t taken effect yet in timezones where the album is already out. The version of the song with Drake’s verse should appear when the album goes live on streamers at midnight ET / 9pm PT tonight.

Packman had one more thing to say on the matter, though. He’s convinced that “someone” (he doesn’t specify who) is trying to sabotage his release. However, it’s more likely that because updates were made at the last minute, they had yet to take effect, and fans commenting on the discrepancy naturally warranting reporting since the song was so heavily anticipated. In all likelihood, Packman may want to view this as a good thing, because it means people are definitely going to be checking for his album, even with a new Beyoncé album on the same day. Pretty impressive for an independent artist.
