Young Thug’s Latest Attempt To Have RICO Case Thrown Out Is Denied

Judge Ural Glanville in Georgia has denied Young Thug’s motion to have his RICO case thrown out. The rapper’s attorney, Brian Steel, argued that the grand jury failed to properly accuse Young Thug of knowingly committing the allegations in the original indictment.

“Mr. Williams is innocent of all charges in the above-referenced indictment,” Steel wrote in the motion. “The grand jury wrongfully re-indicted Mr. Williams in the above-reference case on or about October 5, 2022 in count one – conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influence and Corrupt Organizations Act; count 56 and 57 – participation in criminal street gang activity; counts 58, 59 and 60 – violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act; count 61 – possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; and count 62 – possession of a machine gun.”

Glanville disagreed with Steel’s argument, instead suggesting that the language used was sufficient. “I find that the state’s indictment tracks the language of the statute and is sufficient therein for counts one, 56, 57, 58, 59 and 60, 61 and 62 as it pertains to the state versus Mr. Jeffery Williams,” the judge said. “For those reasons, the court is going to deny the defendant’s plea and bar motion to dismiss general demurrer.”

In the end, Glanville noted that Thug could still appeal his initial ruling, but that it “won’t stop the trial of this matter.” The decision comes as opening statements are scheduled to begin on November 27. While Thug waits behind bars, his partner, Mariah The Scientist, recently revealed that the two intend to get married when he’s a free man. During a recent interview, she added that she thinks about what life will be like once Thug gets out “all day long.” “I feel like being imaginative can help every human being on earth not lose your mind. It is like a little slight state of delusion,” she said. Be on the lookout for further updates on Young Thug’s case on HotNewHipHop.

Young Thug Will Beat His Case, Meek Mill Believes

Young Thug and YSL’s RICO case is finally moving forward, with the court seating a final jury in the trial. As such, many folks expressed concern about what this proceeding could bring, as this is a very complicated and high-profile situation. Moreover, the court severed various individuals from the trial for mental health reasons and other crimes, and also faced other developments like improper jurors, withholding evidence, jury selection delays, and so much more. Naturally, this case also inspires a lot of sympathy from the hip-hop community, especially those who can relate to these struggles. For example, Meek Mill recently voiced his belief that Thugger’s going to be okay.

“Jeff gon’ beat this case it’s too messy!” he expressed on Twitter recently. Specifically, Meek Mill reacted to the news that Judge Glanville, who’s overseeing the trial, isn’t happy with the prosecution. Furthermore, this stems from the fact that they’re withholding evidence, as previously mentioned, in an effort to carry their word- and only their word- as far as they can. While the six remaining defendants including Young Thug await their fate, we can look back on the turbulent road to get here.

On that note, this is also a case that brought up a lot of humanitarian issues with the prison system, regardless of whether the Atlanta collective is guilty or not. One worrisome instance of this was Young Thug’s multiple hospitalizations while the court disallowed him to get bond. Others stem from plea deals in the case, like Gunna’s, that put a target on his back and might’ve negatively impacted his cohorts. Of course, that’s all purely speculative, but this indictment has a lot of shifting parts throughout. In fact, it’s something that Meek Mill, of all people, can really relate to given his own difficult and often unfair experience with the law.

Meanwhile, we’ll see whether song lyrics end up becoming a major factor in this case. That’s under a lot of public scrutiny, but the prosecution seems intent on their importance. It’s just one of many other webs to untangle in this RICO situation, one that Meek sees the light at the end of. We’ll see if he’s right. Derontae Bebee Accepts Plea Deal In YSL RICO Case, Six Defendants Remain

Recently, YSL affiliate Derontae Bebee entered a guilty plea on RICO charges. He took a deal that will see him serving out a 15-year sentence, five years behind bars and 10 on probation. He may now be called to testify in the upcoming YSL RICO trial, though prosecutors have indicated that they won’t require him to.

Durante Partridge, Bebee’s attorney, has pushed for a reduced sentence as an opportunity for the 23-year-old to turn his life around. Judge Ural Glanville reminded him of the importance of making the most of the opportunity, and taking accountability for his actions. The YSL RICO trial is scheduled to commence later this month, with only six defendants remaining.

YSL RICO Trial Commences On November 27

Earlier this week, the jury selection process was completed after months of delays, meaning that the YSL RICO trial could finally proceed. Young Thug and his co-defendants’ trial will begin on November 27. Finding suitable jurors has proven to be a tough and lengthy process. The seated jury consists of seven Black women, two white women, two Black men, and one white man. It’s also remained controversial whether or not prosecutors should be allowed to use song lyrics in the trial. It’s admissible in Georgia, however, and Fulton County DA Fani Willis is in full support of it.

“I think if you decide to admit your crimes over a beat, I’m going to use it,” she told reporters. “I’m going to continue to do that; people can continue to be angry about it. I have some legal advice: Don’t confess to crimes on rap lyrics if you do not want them used. Or at least get out of my county.” Prosecutors made several errors when they submitted a list of lyrics they intended to use as evidence last week. The list featured misattributed lyrics, incorrect release dates, and even a YNW Melly song. What do you think of Derontae Bebee accepting a plea deal? Young Thug’s Jury Selection Is Tomorrow, Trial Set For November As D.A. Fani Willis Faces Threats

It’s been a hot minute since any major updates regarding Young Thug’s future have come out of Atlanta. However, on Tuesday (October 31) evening, it was confirmed that his trial isn’t far off from starting. After spending the better part of 2023 hunting down a suitable pool of 50 jury candidates, on Wednesday, 12 of them will be picked (along with six alternates) to listen to prosecutor Fani Willis and her team’s RICO case against YSL.

Journalist Jozsef Papp shared the update via Twitter. He specifically noted November 27 as the planned start date for the highly anticipated trial. Thug has been showered with support from longtime friends, collaborators, and fans while behind bars. Still, this time likely hasn’t been easy on his mental health. Seeing as he’s sitting with several co-defendants, it’s likely the legal proceedings will stretch on for some time. Nevertheless, Thugger remains confident in his ability to return home with a clean name.

Young Thug Finally Gets Good News

As he keeps himself occupied by playing Candy Crush behind bars, AllHipHop reports that Willis is facing concerning threats thanks to ongoing cases with both Thug and former POTUS, Donald Trump. The Fulton County DA claims to be receiving “hundreds” of inappropriate messages daily. Her staff is working overtime to track down the aggressors.

One of them, an Alabama resident named Arthur Ray Hansen II, has even been indicted thanks to his threats aimed at Willis and Patrick Labat, the local sheriff. “If you think you gonna take a mugshot of my President Donald Trump and it’s gonna be ok, you gonna find out that after you take that mugshot, some bad s**t probably gonna happen to you,” one voicemail the latter received says, according to the indictment.

Young Thug Sees Little Progress In YSL RICO Trial, Jury Selection Moving At Snail’s Pace

Young Thug was arrested alongside Gunna and over two dozen others back in May of 2022. Overall, these individuals were all hit with RICO charges. Since that time, many of these men have been released. However, this has come with a lot of criticism and some accusations of snitching. Gunna knows this all too well as numerous artists in hip-hop have decided to never work with him again. As for Thugger, well, he is still waiting to go to trial. Unfortunately, things are moving incredibly slowly.

It seems like Young Thug is in the courtroom every single day. His lawyers are doing everything they can to make sure this trial is a speedy one. After all, it is every individual’s right to have a speedy trial. If they are not granted that, then there is an argument to be made that the prosecution is acting in bad faith. Regardless, Thugger is in a bind right now, and as it turns out, things are not getting much better. According to Jozsef Papp of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, there is an update in the case, although one that just leads to more waiting.

Young Thug Plays The Waiting Game

In the tweet above, you can see that there are two more jurors who have been qualified to partake in the trial. So far, over 30 people have been approved. However, none of them have actually officially been selected and seated. Instead, qualified jurors have to wait over a month just to be contacted again. From there, they will narrow down the pool and make a decision on who will get to be part of this RICO trial. This is a very tricky case, so it is no surprise that jury selection is taking an incredibly long time.

Hopefully, for Young Thug and others, the process begins to get faster over these coming weeks. In the meantime, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates regarding the trial. We will always keep you informed. Additionally, let us know what you think of these proceedings, in the comments section below.

YSL Polo Removed From YSL RICO Trial

Back in May of 2022, YSL Polo was indicted as part of the YSL RICO case. Now, prosecutor Adriane Love has revealed that his charges have been dropped. The rapper was found guilty of murdering Xavier Arlandor Turner in 2020 recently, and has since displayed some unusual behavior. “In the interest of judicial economy and efficiency,” they’ll be moving forward without him.

A clip of YSL Polo acting out of character recently went viral, causing Young Thug’s attorney to take action. He filed to sever him from the YSL trial in order to ensure a fair trial for Young Thug. “Mr. Dorsey, a co-indictee, has displayed unprofessional and unacceptable conduct in Court, in the presence of this Honorable Court, as announced on the Record on Thursday, August 31, 2023,” his motion read. YSL Polo is also already serving a life sentence for a separate murder charge.

“I’m a little disappointed that it took the state nine months to realize this is a major waste of taxpayer dollars,” YSL Polo’s attorney Chadha Jimenez explained. “Mr. Dorsey should have never been part of this. He was already serving a life sentence without parole.” He was previously convicted of homicide after he was caught on camera shooting a 39-year-old man outside of a gas station during an armed robbery.

Young Thug remains behind bars, awaiting jury selection. He’s been in prison since May of last year while countless peers and fans have called for his release. Earlier this week, it was reported that he’s filed legal paperwork calling for a speedy trial. There’s been concerning reports surrounding the status of the rapper’s health, with his defense claiming that the prison is keeping him in poor conditions. Allegedly, the prison is offering inmates inadequate food options, depriving Young Thug of sleep, and limiting his access to sunlight. Share your thoughts in the comments section below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on YSL Polo.

Unfoonk Sentenced To Nearly 10 Years In Jail After Violating YSL Plea Agreement

Unfoonk, Young Thug’s brother, is one of the YSL co-defendants who previously earned their freedom back via a plea deal. Unfortunately, the embattled artist was arrested again last month for violating the terms of his agreement. At the time, officers found a weapon on his person. Unfoonk was brought in on charges of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, persons associated with a criminal street gang to participate in illegal activity, and a few other traffic offences, as HipHopDX reports.

Today (June 5), the Georgia native had his day in court. Sadly for him, Judge Ural Glanville sentenced him to nearly a decade in jail. “Part of the special condition was that you were not supposed to possess a gun,” Unfoonk – born Quantavious Grier – was lectured by the Glanville. “And the state was pretty clear. I find, based upon a preponderance of the evidence, that the state has proved its case that you have violated your probation.”

Unfoonk Has His Day in Court

“Your attorney has asked me to consider a revocation of two years. And I certainly respect her, and I respect that you don’t know unless you ask. But the issue I find aggravating in this particular circumstance is that you got arrested with a gun within six months of you being placed on probation,” the judge continued. Afterward, he made it clear that he doesn’t see Unfoonk as a candidate for probation due to his recent antics.

Other conditions that were a part of last December’s plea deal included staying out of contact with Thugger and other co-defendants until the end of the trial, completing 750 hours of community service, and sticking to a 10 PM to 6 AM curfew. Elsewhere in the news, a deputy affiliated with the YSL case was arrested earlier this month. She’s since had a $1M bond set, which you can read all about at the link below. Lil Durk Accuses Gunna Of Snitching In YSL RICO Trial: “That Man Told”

Since it began earlier this year, the YSL RICO trial has come with more speedbumps and drama than anyone could have anticipated. One of the biggest figures in the case, Young Thug, has been denied bond four times now. Several of his co-defendants, including Gunna, however, are back to freedom after taking plea deals. The “Pushin P” hitmaker has denied allegations of snitching rising up against him over the past but hasn’t done much to change the opinions of some of his contemporaries – including Lil Durk.

The Chicago native was the latest to join DJ Akademiks on the Off the Record podcast, at which time he shared his thoughts on snitching in general, as well as the Gunna situation. “Now I don’t sit up here and play games, man,” Durkio said, making it abundantly clear he’s not one to beat around the bush. “That man told. You should have went in there and kept your mouth closed,” the father of six insisted, before expressing his own love for Thugger.

Lil Durk Speaks on Gunna’s Plea Deal with DJ Akademiks

“If you a rat, you a rat. If you rewind this clip a little bit, I looked into the camera and told you, if you a rat, I f*cking hate you. Because I love Thug,” Durk vented to the host. Elsewhere in the same conversation, the “All My Life” hitmaker revealed that the reason he has so much disdain for snitches is that one took away his father at a young age, leaving him to be raised alone by a woman without a strong male role model to lead the way for him.

While the 30-year-old gears up for the arrival of his highly anticipated album this Friday (May 26), the Atlanta-based artist has been keeping a relatively low profile lately. However, more photos have been surfacing as of late, revealing that he’s gone through significant weight loss since his release from prison. Do you agree with Lil Durk’s take on Gunna’s plea deal? Young Thug Seeks Bond As Concerns For His Health Continue To Grow

Young Thug has been through a lot over the last year. It was around this time in 2022 that Thugger and Gunna were arrested on RICO charges. However, Gunna has since been released, and Young Thug’s fate continues to be up in the air. Overall, there has been a concerted effort to get the legendary artist out of jail. Although, RICO cases are incredibly hard to beat. Moreover, he has sought bond on three separate occasions. Each time, the judge has said “no” as they believe he is a flight risk.

Over these past few weeks, the YSL Rico trial has continued to go on, and these have led to very long hours for the artist. Consequently, there are concerns that his health could be in jeopardy right now. His attorney, Brian Steel, is now asking for bond, for the fourth time in the past year. Although it is uncertain as to whether or not Young Thug will be freed amidst the trial, Steel is trying to put forth a compelling case. According to ABC News, he told the judge that he has “previously put forth compelling evidence, without doubt, that conditions can be imposed which permit bond to be set.”

Young Thug Remains On Trial

“Mr. Williams is not a risk to commit a crime and he’s not a risk to flee the jurisdiction and that’s what bond is about,” Steel told the outlet. With the long hours that Young Thug is being subjected to, he has been dealing with fatigue. Furthermore, there is a worry that he may not have all of his faculties as the trial goes on. This sleep deprivation argument could potentially be helpful for Thug’s case. However, it remains to be seen what the judge will decide here.

If there is one thing for sure, it’s that this trial has been filled with antics. Whether it is people screaming in court, or lawyers being arrested, there has been a lot on display. Let us know what you think of all this, in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news from the music world.
