Bobby Shmurda Drops Diss Track Allegedly Aimed At Gunna Titled “Rat N****s”

There’s no secret that Brooklyn drill mainstay Bobby Shmurda is a “no snitching” advocate, but it appears that the “Hot N***a” took his ideals a step further after teasing a new track that seems to be aiming at YSL’s Gunna titled “Rat N****s.”

Some say that Shmurda is aiming at Gunna, who took a plea deal in the YSL RICO case, which still leaves Young Slime Life capo and Gunna’s partner in rhyme, Young Thug, still behind bars. In the lyrics, Shmurda rapped, “Took a plea deal … left your dog in that pen … why they playback in that courtroom, keeps playing back in his head.”

Shmurda’s loyalty to his crew can never be questioned, as he added two years to his sentence in 2016 to take five years off Rowdy Rebel’s sentence.

Gunna took an Alford Plea in his RICO conspiracy case, which his lawyer Steven Shadow says does not influence the result of any of the other YSL members’ cases.

Young Thug maybe facing life in prison if convicted of the YSL RICO charge he faces at trial this month, but that won’t stop him from calling on his entertainment industry colleagues and friends as potential witnesses at trial.

According to WSBTV‘s Michael Seiden, music exec Lyor Cohen and ATL rapper and political activist Killer Mike were just two of the 28 names listed as potential witnesses for Young Thug’s defense, which is called the “state’s witness list.”

Cohen co-founded 300 Entertainment along with Kevin Liles, who signed Thugger to the label back in 2014. Liles, who took the stand during one of Thug’s bond hearings, called for legislators to stop using song lyrics in court against entertainers like Young Thug.

Eight of Thugger’s co-defendants have already taken plea deals, dodging prison time with an admission of guilt in the conspiracy to violate the RICO Act. Two of his co-defendants, Tenquarius “Nard” Mender and Derontae Bebee, rejected their plea deals and will be at trial with Thug next week. Nard faces 50 years with a conviction, while Bebee is looking at a life sentence.

Young Thug’s Father Says He Wants Son To Reject Plea Deal If Offered One

Young Thug Makes First Court Appearance in Months

The YSL RICO trial begins next week, and its highly unlikely that Young Thug will receive a plea deal before then. In a recent interview, Young Thug’s father says that if his son was given a plea deal, he’d advise him not to take it.

Thug’s father, Jeffery Williams Sr, said in a recent interview with Infamous Sylvia that he still believes his son is innocent and that he should not take a plea deal if offered one.

“I can’t answer that because I’m not him,” he said of a possible plea deal. “I’m his father. My son is not guilty of a lot of things that these people [prosecutors] probably saying about him. As a father, if they came to him with a plea deal and he left it up to me to give him the advice, I would tell him, ‘No.’”

Jeffery Williams Sr. added that he will be present in the courtroom when the trial starts next week. “I’m a parent. I’m a father. I’m not that daddy who just there. Right now, it’s me and him against the world.”

Last week, two more YSL affiliates took plea deals in connection with the RICO case. Trontavious Stephens, a.k.a. “Tick” and another member known as “Slug” took a plea deal.

Prosecutors also named YFN Lucci as a possible witness during the trial dur to Yount Thug reportedly put out a hit on Lucci while he was behind bars on murder charges. However, Lucci’s lawyer, Drew Findling announced that his client would not be testifying. “Any party can announce for example that Abraham Lincoln is on their witness list, but those words alone are meaningless,” Findling said. “So, to be 100 percent clear, Rayshawn Bennett (YFN Lucci) will not be a witness in the YSL case.”

Boosie Says He Wants To Direct Movie About YSL RICO Case

The YSL RICO case is still underway with the trial set to begin next year. However, that is not going to stop Boosie from making a movie about it.

Boosie made the announcement while premiering his latest self-produced film Where’s MJ, at Clark Atlanta University last week. “I’ll document it. I’ll shoot the film,” he said. “Free all them boys. I don’t want nobody in there.”

During the premiere, Boosie also advocated for YFN Lucci’s release who is also in jail for RICO charges. Lucci also claimed that Young Thug tried to put a hit on him while he was locked up. He says that a YSL co-defendant, Antonio Sumlin, sought permission from Thugger to attempt a second hit on him in March.

The YSL trial is set to begin on January 5th of next year. Since the indictments began, 6 members of YSL have taken plea deals for their involvement in the record label and alleged gang including Gunna, Young Thug’s brother, Slimelife Shawty, Lil Duke, and YSL co-founder Walter Murphy. This has brought the number of defendants down from 28 to 22.

Following Gunna’s release from prison after accepting his plea deal, a video of Gunna admitting to a judge a series of questions involving YSL hit social media. Many were quick to call Gunna a snitch, and one person even found his car and threw cheese in front of it. It was later revealed that Gunna accepted an Alford plea, a plea in which a defendant does not admit guilt but admits that the evidence presented by the prosecution would persuade the judge or jury that they are guilty of the crimes they are being charged for.

Screen Shot 2022 12 26 at 10.12.22 AM

According to Atlanta CBS news affiliate WSB-TV, an associate of the Young Slime Life collective is the most recent defendant to take a plea deal in the YSL RICO case.

Antonio Sumlin, also known as Obama, as plead guilty to conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime and participation in criminal street gang activity last week. In exchange for his plea agreement, Sumlin was sentenced to 15 years probation as a part of his negotiation.

Sumlin is one of two defendants accused of stabbing YFN Lucci inside of the Fulton County Jail in March of this year. He and another YSL associate, Christian Eppinger, allegedly got Young Thug’s permission to execute the stabbing.

Lucci begged the judge for house arrest because he knew there was a bounty on his head, but was denied.

Gunna was released from jail last week after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors, which was time served and an additional four years, which will be served in the form of 500 hours of community service. Young Thug’s brother, YSL co-founder Walter Murphy and two other YSL members have accepted plea offers in the RICO case.

Obama is now the sixth defendant to plead guilty ahead of the YSL RICO trial, which is due to begin on January 9.

Gunna released a statement regarding taking the Alford plea, saying, “I have chosen to end my own RICO case with an Alford plea and end my personal ordeal by publicly acknowledging my association with YSL.” Gunna added, “An Alford plea in my case is the entry of a guilty plea to the one charge against me, which is in my best interest, while at the same time maintaining my innocence toward the same charge.”

Young Thug remains in jail without bond pending the YSL RICO trial, which is scheduled to get underway in January 2023.

Screen Shot 2022 12 16 at 8.37.41 AM

News reports have confirmed that an alleged co-founder of the now-infamous Young Slime Life reached a plea agreement with Fulton County prosecutors before YSL’s RICO trial, securing his freedom and walked out of jail a free man.

Walter Murphy entered a guilty plea earlier this week and will receive a one year jail sentence, to which he will be given time served of his ten-year sentence, of which the remaining nine will be served on supervised probation.

Murphy’s indictment alleges he committed an aggravated assault in 2013 and an attempted murder in 2015, which allegedly had four victims. Murphys is also being named as one of the co-founders of YSL alongside co-defendant Trontavious Stephens.

In an interview with Atlanta’s CBS affiliate WSB-TV Channel 2, Murphy was vehement about YSL not being a gang, saying, “I would rather say it’s more like a record label or a family,” Murphy said. “Once upon a time I was actually a road manager on that label.”

Fulton County D.A. Fani Willis Defends Using Rap Lyrics As Criminal Evidence In Drug Rich Gang and YSL R.I.C.O. Cases

fani willis

In a new press conference, Fulton County, GA District Attorney Fani Willis defended using rap lyrics as criminal evidence in the YSL and Drug Rich Gang R.I.C.O. cases. This comes after 26 alleged members of the Drug Rich Gang were arrested in Atlanta and have been in connection with a string of high profile home invasions and other violent crimes in the Atlanta area.

“I think if you decide to admit your crimes over a beat, I’m gonna use it,” Willis said. “You do not get to commit crimes in my county and then decide to brag on it, which you do that for a form of intimidation and to further the gang, and not be held responsible.”

“Just one of the lyrics used in this indictment is: ‘Me and my crew striking out, striking in all black / Send me the drop, we’ll kick in the house / If we steal a car, we’re gonna take off the tags.’ Well, they’re kicking in doors, committing home invasions and now I’m using those lyrics that they’re admitting to doing that.”

Fani continued, saying; “I’m going to continue to do that, people can continue to be angry about it. I have some legal advice: don’t confess to crimes on rap lyrics if you do not want them used — or at least get out of my county.”

Yesterday it was announced that 26 alleged members of the Drug Rich Gang were arrested and hit with R.I.C.O. charges in connection to multiple home invasions and other violent crimes. Investigators used music videos, rap lyrics, and social media posts to tie members of the gang to the indictment.

According to the indictment, the gang targeted homes belonging to Mariah Carrey, Atlanta Falcons star Calvin Ridley, and Future’s baby mother Brittni Mealy.

According to Yahoo News, the presiding  judge said, “I have considered those arguments. And I’ve considered the proffers made by the state, I’ve considered the arguments of the defense. At this point in time, though… I am still not convinced that what you’ve argued anew, and taking into account what I have heard already… I am going to deny bond.”

Prosecutors claim Thugger is the leader of the Young Slime Life street gang aka YSL, which Thug and his defense attorneys strongly deny.

Young Thug will remain behind bars in the Cobb County Jail until his trial begins in January 2023.
