G-Eazy Responds To Fans Claiming He Fell Off

G-Eazy is no stranger to receiving hate from rap fans online. Despite the hate he’s been a commercially successful. As he notes in a recent appearance on Steve-O’s Wild Ride! podcast, he went on a pretty high-selling run of albums. 2014’s These Things Happen, 2015’s When It’s Dark Out, and 2017’s The Beautiful & The Damned all went on to reach platinum status. “We had a great run, three albums in a row went platinum. Then my mom died. And COVID, my mom passing, I just finally was like, ‘I need to reset,’” the “Me, Myself & I” rapper explains.

He returned with a new album called These Things Happen Too in 2021, but it didn’t reach nearly the same level of commercial success. As he explains in the podcast, he always knew that would be a possibility. “I needed to finally give myself a break and take some pressure off of the cycle of releasing music. And that comes at a risk,” he claims. “Then I’m reading the comments… ‘Damn, he fell off.’ I should not have done this, don’t ever Google yourself. One of the top suggested was ‘Is G-Eazy still making music?’ I was just like, ‘F*ck y’all! F*ck y’all!’” he concluded. Check out the full podcast episode below.

G-Eazy Calls Out Fans Saying He Fell Off

Though G-Eazy hasn’t released a new album in three years he’s dropped a few singles in 2024 already. He confirmed elsewhere in the podcast that his next album would be called Freak Show. He’s confirmed that both the singles he dropped this year will appear on the album. The first was “Femme Fatale” which featured guest verses from Coi Leray and Kaliii. That was followed a few weeks later by the third song in his Lady Killers series “Lady Killers III.”

What do you think of G-Eazy’s response to fan claims that he fell off after his 2017 album? Do you think he will ever have another one of his albums go platinum going forward? Let us know in the comment section below.

PinkPantheress Delivers A Hot Take On Song Length

PinkPantheress has made a career off of writing very short songs. Her DIY homespun sound comes hand-in-hand with shorter length tracks. That’s why its no surprise some of her tracks with sugary sweet hooks have become hits propelled by social media platforms like TikTok. Despite her increased commercial success, which peaked with the Ice Spice suported remix of “Boys a liar,” some online have criticized her artistic approach. Her songs being too short has become a common motif of those criticizing her music.

Unsurprisingly though. it’s a critique PinkPantheress herself doesn’t agree with. In a recent interview with ABC, she made her case for shorter song lengths. She first claimed that tracks didn’t need to be any longer than two minutes and thirty seconds. She justified that length by explaining that her songs don’t include bridges or unnecessarily long outros which keeps them so short. The comments sparked plenty of debate among fans online. They discussed whether or not there’s an ideal length for all songs and what that length might be. Check out the interview that sparked the debate below.

PinkPantheress Fans Debate Song Length

Last week PinkPantheress dropped her newest single “Turn It Up.” The track is her first new release of 2024 so far and follows in line with her DIY dancy pop style. It also makes use of a sample of Selena’s “Dreaming Of You,” something fans first took notice of when the track was teased with a snippet on TikTok.

Earlier this year PinkPantheress was photographed hanging out with Ice Spice and breakout R&B star Tyla. Fans immediately called for the three young stars to collaborate on some music together, with some even billing them as a potential smash girl group. What do you think of PinkPantheress’ take that songs don’t need to be any longer than two minutes and thirty seconds? Do you think there’s an ideal length for all or most songs? Let us know in the comment section below.

Drake Vs. Kendrick Lamar: DJ Akademiks’ Hate-Botting Theory Trashed By Fans

Overall, the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud has led to a whole lot of wild conspiracy theories online. Fans have been looking for clues in odd places, and have tried to piece together narratives that may or may not exist. Having said that, there is no denying that as it stands, Drizzy is the loser of the battle. Kendrick took the wind out of Drake’s sails with the song “Meet The Grahams,” and he eventually called game with the song “Not Like Us.”

If you have been going to YouTube, you will notice that a lot of Drake’s most recent songs have been inundated with dislikes. “The Heart Part 6” has over 1 million dislikes right now. Moreover, “Family Matters” has 400K dislikes to 800K likes. Lastly, his new collaboration with Sexyy Red currently stands at 80 percent dislikes on YouTube. In the eyes of DJ Akademiks, this recent trend simply isn’t normal. Instead, it appears like some sort of coordinated attack.

Drake Songs Inundated With Dislikes

“Either n****s hating on Drake or n****s hate botting his latest releases,” Akademiks wrote. “His last 2 releases has more dislikes than likes on YouTube. the heart part 6 and his newest feature on Sexyy redd song . And family matters has over 400k dislikes on YouTube. Very abnormal.” Akademiks makes an interesting point, however, for now, there is no evidence of hate-botting. In fact, fans don’t seem all that convinced that there is something nefarious going on. Instead, they think Ak’s bias is shining through here. Perhaps someday, Ak will be vindicated.

Fans React

Let us know what you make of this entire situation, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that bots are going up against Drake to take him down? DJ Akademiks Theorizes Drake’s Latest Songs Are Being Hate Botted, Points Out Like/Dislike Ratio

DJ Akademiks pointed out an “abnormal” like-to-dislike ratio on Drake’s latest songs on YouTube in a post on Twitter, on Sunday. He says people are either hating on Drake like never before or someone has been hate-botting his releases. He used Drake’s Kendrick Lamar diss tracks, “Family Matters,” and “The Heart Part 6,” as well as his Sexyy Red collaboration, “U My Everything,” as examples to show the disparity.

“Either n****s hating on Drake or n****s hate botting his latest releases,” Akademiks wrote in the post. “His last 2 releases has more dislikes than likes on YouTube. The Heart part 6 and his newest feature on Sexyy redd song. And family matters has over 400k dislikes on YouTube. Very abnormal.” Fans were more skeptical in the comments section of his post. “N****s can’t just not dislike a song?” one user asked. Another wrote: “Or the sh*t wasn’t good? Family Matters is good. Heart Part 6 is so bad it’s almost funny. That Sexyy Redd song is ass outside of Drake’s verse so no sh*t it has mad dislikes.”

For the Sexyy Red collaboration, Drake raps over Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy,” diss instrumental. He flips the concept of the song by rapping: “BBL Drizzy, they want a new body, they ask me for it.” As for “The Heart Part 6,” he used the track to claim he set Kendrick Lamar up with false information amid their feud and made several disses against him. The title is a reference to Lamar’s “The Heart” series of songs.

Tyla Recruits Gunna And Skillibeng For Flashy New “Jump” Music Video

Last year, Tyla seemingly became an R&B superstar overnight. It arrived on the back of her song “Water” which dropped last year and slowly crept up the Hot 100. Eventually the song became a total smash hit peaking at number 3 on the chart. The song has racked up more than 600 million streams on Spotify alone and even got a remix with Travis Scott late last year. She followed that up with her self-titled debut album earlier this year, for which she recruited a couple of high profile features.

Two of those features also showed up in her newest video for the song “Jump.” Gunna and Skillibeng both feature on the track, which has rocketed up to her second most-streamed song on Spotify. They’re also present in the video which is shot in a variety of locations within Tyla’s native Johannesburg. It also features shots of Skillibeng from his own hometown of Kingston, Jamaica. The video was directed by NABIL and has already racked up more than 600k views in just its first few hours while hitting YouTube’s trending page. Check out the new visuals she shared for “Jump” below.

Tyla Drops New Music Video For “Jump”

Earlier this year, Tyla canceled a world tour she had previously announced for 2024. In a statement released alongside the announcement of the cancelation. she cited health issues that prevented her from following through on the tour. Since then, however, that explanation has stuck with fans and they bring it up regularly. The R&B star has been spotted partying all over the world in recent months and doesn’t look particularly encumbered in her new music video. That’s led to some fans speculating that there could be alternate reasons for the tour’s canceling.

What do you think of the new music video Tyla, Gunna, and Skillibeng released for their new collaboration “Jump?” What’s your favorite song from the breakthrough R&B star’s new debut album? Let us know in the comment section below.

Cardi B Celebrates Having 4 Songs With More Than A Billion Streams On Spotify

Collecting over a billion streams on Spotify is an incredible achievement. Thousands of songs are uploaded to the platform every day and only a small fraction of them ever have a chance to get close to the impressive milestone. That’s why its so stunning when some of the biggest artists around pull off the massive achievement multiple times. That’s the case with Cardi B who lands two of her own songs and two high profile featured appearances on the list of songs with over 1 billion streams. She recently stopped by Spotify’s Billionaires Club series to reflect on all four of the songs.

Each of her billion stream songs is a collaboration, though two of them are her own tracks. “I Like It” landed on her debut album Invasion Of Privacy back in 2018. The song became an absolute smash hit after the album dropped and featured memorable performances from Bad Bunny and J Balvin. A few years later she dropped “WAP” her sexually charged crossover with Megan Thee Stallion. Both songs have comfortably surpassed 1 billion streams. She’s also credited for two smash hits she features on. The first is Maroon 5’s 2018 smash hit “Girls Like You.” The second is DJ Snake’s “Taki Taki” which also features Selena Gomez and Ozuna. Check out her reflecting on all four of the billion-stream songs below.

Cardi B Talks About Her Biggest Hits For Spotify

Fans were hoping that 2024 would be the year Cardi released a full new album worth of songs that could potentially hit 1 billion streams. She is still yet to follow up her 2018 debut studio album Invasion Of Privacy. 2024 got off to a promising start with her dropping two singles already. But earlier this week she tweeted and then deleted a claim that there would be no new album in 2024 as she was taking the time to relax.

What do you think of Cardi B’s thoughts on her four different songs that have been streamed more than 1 billion times on Spotify? Are there any tracks you’re surprised have crossed the billion stream threshold? Let us know in the comment section below.

Ice Spice Is Flashier Then Ever Before In New “Gimmie A Light” Music Video

Ice Spice’s Y2K era is fully underway. After she kicked off the new album with the release of “Think U The Sh*t” earlier this year the second single has finally arrived. Much like its predecessor it was also teased on social media for weeks in the lead-up to its eventual release. After teasing the title, lyrics, and even a snippet of the song with fans she shared a teaser for the music video earlier this week. Now the video is out in full and fans are unpacking the various different highly stylized scenes it deploys throughout.

The video is self-directed with Ice Spice taking over the role herself alongside two collaborators. Though it’s a short overall video matching the songs barely two-minute runtime she manages to fit a lot into it. She makes use of the pink Range Rover which was also used to promote the song earlier this week. The car makes multiple appearances as she drives it around smoking out the window and later shows off her twerking skills in the backseat. In another scene she hits a packed club with her signature long-hair look and a pink bodysuit. Check out the stylish visuals for the song below.

Ice Spice Drops “Gimmie A Light” Music Video

Later this year Ice Spice will release her debut album Y2K. The NY rapper has experienced a meteoric rise to fame on the back of her Like..? EP and collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, and Pink pantheress. She’s achieved an incredibly impressive amount of fame for someone who hasn’t even released a debut album yet. That’s why fans were so excited for her new era, though both of the singles so far have been met with mixed reviews by certain parts of her fanbase.

What do you think of Ice Spice’s new single “Gimmie A Light” and the accompanying music video? Are you looking forward to the release of her debut album Y2K later this year? Let us know in the comment section below.

Megan Thee Stallion Drops Flurry Of Bars On “I Think I Love Her Freestyle”

Megan Thee Stallion is looking to put her stamp on her self-proclaimed “Megan May” with a new freestyle called “I Think I Love Her.” This off-the-dome session was just uploaded on the Texas rapper’s various social media platforms. The track, standing at 1:43 sees her spit with great proficiency as she brags over the grimy guitar-backed instrumental. If the beat sounds familiar at all, that is because Gucci Mane made a song of the same name on his 2015 mixtape Wilt Chamberlain (Pt.5).

However, we talked about this Guwop classic much sooner. In fact, it was back in January of this year when Erica Banks, a fellow Texas femcee, spit some bars on “I Think I Love Em (Freestyle).” The remix did well for the “Buss It” rapper, and now its Megan’s turn. This aggressive cut is also a pretty big deal for the Hotties, as this is a long overdue return of #MeganMonday.

Listen To “I Think I Love Her Freestyle” By Megan Thee Stallion

This is a series she has been doing for quite some time and this is certainly a great way to revive it. “Every Monday they gon’ wait for the freestyle / Call me out once, you do not get a redial,” Megan raps. It is clear that Megan is looking to regain her throne at the top of the female rap game. That has been apparent ever since she dropped “Cobra” late last year, as well as her ruthless Nicki Minaj diss track “HISS” in February.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new freestyle “I Think I Love Her” by Megan Thee Stallion? Do you think she should continue to release more of these, why or why not? Are #MeganMondays going to a recurring thing in your opinion? Could you see her dropping her album or new single this Friday? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Megan Thee Stallion. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

21 Savage Finally Meets Nardwuar For An Interview

Nardwuar The Human Serviette has added to his legendary roster with a new interview in Vancouver with 21 Savage, who just kicked off his American Dream tour in the city earlier this week. Of course, it was a pretty chill, wholesome, and interesting interview that saw the rapper go down memory lane with a whole lot of “How do you know that?” answers. Moreover, the two talked about the history behind some of the Atlanta MC’s beats, his London background and that of his mother, what’s next for him on the trek, and his first-ever show in the A.

Overall, it was a nice interview to watch as usual, and a nice cool-down moment amid absolute warfare in the hip-hop game. Kendrick Lamar just name-dropped 21 Savage as one of the Atlanta artists that Drake is “colonizing” on his latest diss track in their battle, “Not Like Us.” As such, a lot of people reacted comically to this in the interview’s YouTube comments section and on social media, remarking how he’s just having fun and keeping busy while his Her Loss partner is on the battlefield. Some even joked that 21 is the mole, and that Nardwuar is the one that has been feeding both sides all that information.

21 Savage’s Nardwuar Interview: Watch

Jokes aside, though, we’ve actually seen 21 Savage living his best life these days amid a busy tour schedule, such as singing on Instagram again and showing some love to Ayra Starr. It’s unclear whether he or other name-dropped artists on either side will chime into this beef, especially in his specific case as he’s on tour right now and probably wouldn’t want to have any part in it. It’s not like they should in the first place, but it’s an interesting parallel since Drake was on tour when Kendrick Lamar dropped “Like That” and only responded after. But that’s enough speculation… we’re not Nardwuar, after all.

Meanwhile, speaking of the “Jimmy Cooks” duo, Drake and 21 Savage recently appeared in the city of Chicago’s lawsuit against Glock, with that track specifically seeing mention as an example of prolific references to the gun brand in media. Probably not the association that they expected, but here we are. It doesn’t affect either MC in any way, but it does go to show the very tangible and unignored reach that they have. It also shows how folks will only question these references when they’re not in an entertainment or capitalistic context… but that’s another story.
