Kevin Durant Executive Produced YSL Records Rapper T-Shyne’s New Album With Young Thug
The connections between the modern NBA and hip-hop are growing all the time and with the latest announcement out of Young Thug’s YSL Records camp, they’ve become the most pronounced they’ve ever been. YSL Records fixture T-Shyne is set to release his new album, Confetti Nights, which is naturally executive-produced by YSL’s founder Young Thug on April 1… along with some help from none other than the Brooklyn Nets’ recently returned All-Star forward, Kevin Durant.
It’s not the first time that an NBA player applied their talents to musical curation. In 2021, Durant’s fellow NBA champ Kawhi Leonard executive produced the Culture Jam Vol. 1 compilation featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Gunna, Lil Uzi Vert, Polo G, Rod Wave, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Meanwhile, Damian Lillard, the All-Star guard for the Portland Trailblazers, has had a flourishing rap career as Dame D.O.L.L.A., dropping four studio albums that featured Lil Wayne, Raphael Saadiq, and Snoop Dogg.
In addition to producing albums, Durant has also been a movie producer, commissioning the Basketball County: Something In The Water documentary in 2020. Durant’s music connections came in handy there, too, as he recruited fellow Prince George’s County native IDK as music supervisor for the film.
Meanwhile, YSL Records is coming off a stellar 2021 that saw Young Thug’s Punk on the Billboard charts, followed this year by Gunna’s outstanding DS4EVER. With plenty of the roster yet to release — Lil Keed, Strick, and others are especially anticipated — 2022 figures to be another pivotal year for the Atlanta-based label.
Confetti Nights is due 4/1 via YSL and 300 Entertainment.

Young Thug Previews New Music Online
Young Thug is back in the booth. Yesterday, Thug shared a snippet on social media that hints that new music is arriving. Recently, the Atlanta rapper called out his peers to help African males escape Ukraine.
It’s uncertain if this track will be on a Young Thug album, but fans gave positive feedback. “yeah, we’re gonna need that one asap,” one fan tweeted, and another dropped a fire emoji.

On top of this, Young Thug revealed that he’d be featured on Wiz Khalifa’s album.
Young Thug has been on go mode since the fourth quarter of 2021. He dropped his Punk album in October. He’s on Gunna’s DS4Ever, and he’s on the Encanto soundtrack, which is currently No.1 for the seventh consecutive week, according to the Billboard 200.

Young Thug Calls On Other Rappers To Help African Students Get Out Of Ukraine After Racism At Border
Over the last week, many Ukrainians have fled their country after Russian President Vladimir Putin began a invasion of Ukraine under the guise of a “peacekeeping operation.” You would think that in a crisis like this, people would be decent human beings. Think again.
Over the weekend, video surfaced of African students being denied passage on a train taking citizens out of the country.
The videos spread across social media, and has prompted Young Thug, even though is thousands of miles away from the situation, to do something about it.
The Atlanta artist took to his Instagram Stories where he called upon his fellow rappers to help the thousands of African students get out of the country.
“If some of my rap brothers are in I’m willing to help Africans get out of Ukraine however I can sense they not letting us pass” Thug posted on his IG story. “Who ever holds the info for these movements please contact me ASAP I’m ready.”

Many students that are stranded in Ukraine have taken to social media to let the world know the racism that they are facing as they are trying to leave the country.
One student tweeted how the police threatened to shoot them and refused to let Africans cross into Poland and are allowing only Ukranians to pass.
“Watch how they are threatening to shoot us! We are currently at the Ukraine-Poland border. Their Police and Army refused to let Africans cross they only allow Ukrainian. Some have slept here for 2 days under this scorching cold weather, while many have gone back to Lviv.”

Young Thug Wants To Help African Residents Trying To Escape Ukraine Amid Discrimination Accusations
Days after multiple videos emerged online purporting to depict Ukrainian authorities discriminating against African residents seeking to flee the nation as its ongoing conflict with Russia escalates, help for those residents may soon come from a surprising source: Young Thug. Thug posted to his Instagram Story offering his assistance and calling for his “rap brothers” to pitch in as well.
“lf some of my rap brothers are in, I’m willing to help Africans get out of Ukraine,” he wrote. “However I can sense they not letting us pass. Who ever holds the info for these movements please contact me ASAP I’m ready.” It didn’t take long for him to secure pledges from the likes of music impresario Kevin Liles, private jet broker Kelvin Mensah, and YSL Records rapper Strick, who all reshared his post.
Thugger is developing a penchant for putting his money where his mouth is when it comes to helping out those less fortunate than him. In 2017, he donated to Planned Parenthood against threats to defund the organization from Donald Trump, while in 2021, he and his artist Gunna paid bail for 30 Fulton County Jail inmates and hosted a dinner for their families while expressing plans to continue doing so in the future. He’s even gotten more hands-on of late, kicking off the new year by helping a stranded motorist jumpstart his car. Thugger is a man of the people.
