7. “1 Hell Of A Life” – Young Dolph & Key Glock

“1 Hell Of A Life” is one of many collaborations by Young Dolph and Key Glock. The song explores themes of sacrifice, as well as the struggles of becoming something from nothing. Here, Young Dolph and Key Glock take turns dropping bars and narrating personal experiences. “1 Hell of a Life” comes off the pair’s collaborative album, Dum And Dummer. The 2019 project eventually led to a sequel, titled Dum And Dummer 2. With just over 40 million streams on Spotify, “1 Hell of a Life” is undoubtedly one of the most popular songs by Young Dolph.

6. “No Sense” Ft. Key Glock

“No Sense” is another collaboration with Key Glock on this list. The song brings them back to their stomping ground with references to Memphis, Tennessee scattered across the record. “No Sense” is also marked by a pulsating beat and sharp production, fostering an infectious energy that lasts throughout the track. Young Dolph and Key Glock take turns to deliver verses that effortlessly blend braggadocio with authenticity. Currently, the track’s music video has close to 10 million YouTube views.

5. “To Be Honest”

“To Be Honest” comes with one of Dolph’s most popular projects, Rich Slave. As the song’s title implies, this track features the Chicago-born rapper simply putting his thoughts out there. He narrates his experiences, coming from living in the “’jects” to being a famous, rich rapper. Over a captivating beat with heavy drums, “To Be Honest” touches on various aspects of life. The rapper also discusses his relationships and journey in the music industry, inviting listeners to engage with him on a deeper level.

4. “On The River” Ft. Wiz Khalifa

“On The River” is a vibrant, energetic track featuring Dolph’s signature gritty delivery. His bars are accompanied by a catchy beat that seamlessly fuses classic Hip Hop beats and trap. The song’s theme suggests a date where the Memphis rapper takes a girl out on a date, and they end up going out to the river. Moreover, Wiz Khalifa also brings his unique swag to the track, and he and Young Dolph spew out cannabis-related lyrics with style.

3. “100 Shots”

“100 Shots” is a track aimed at Dolph’s enemies. The chorus that ends with, “how the f*ck you miss a hunnid shots?” is directed at the people who the Memphis native thought had it out for him. On this track, Young Dolph once again employs braggadocio. Lyrically, he explains that his enemies always miss, but his longevity is proof of his prowess. Released in 2017, “100 Shots” turned out to be a hit in no time. The track has earned millions of streams across platforms, including more than 100 million streams on Spotify.

2. “1 Scale” Ft. G Herbo

With over 111 million streams on Spotify, “1 Scale” is Young Dolph’s most streamed song on the platform. It features heavy trap beats and a lot of references to the streets. The title itself, “1 Scale,” hints at Young Dolph’s and G Herbo’s familiarity with the drug trade; a scale is an important tool for measuring illicit substances. In braggadocious style, familiar with many rap stars, the artists move around the track with great synergy, exchanging tales of their experiences, as well as triumphs in the game. There are also references to expensive clothes, cars, and clothing accessories. All in all, “1 Scale” is a testament to both artists’ growth in their craft and is arguably Young Dolph’s most popular song.

1. “Major” Ft. Key Glock

“Major,” featuring Key Glock is a riveting Young Dolph collaboration that showcases his Memphis style. The song references the drug trade, with both rappers spitting about how much the trade can bring in. Furthermore, the track’s title, “Major,” hints at Dolph’s and Glock’s commitment to making a significant impact in the rap game, and the track’s robust beat does this theme justice. Overall, Key Glock and Young Dolph do well to show off not only their wealth but also their lyrical prowess. “Major” has since been certified Platinum, and peaked atop the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.

Young Dolph’s “Dolph Day” Heading To Multiple Cities To Honor Rapper’s Memory

Today (Friday, November 17) marks the two-year anniversary of Young Dolph’s tragic murder in his home city of Memphis. Moreover, his family, friends, collaborators, industry peers, community cohorts, and fans from all over the world poured their tributes out online. As saddening as this is, folks also took it upon themselves to celebrate the rapper’s legacy, give back to his community, and preserve his impact within his circles and beyond. As such, the “Dolph Day” weekend event on this occasion expanded to multiple cities outside of Memphis, namely Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas.

Furthermore, these community activities consisted of turkey giveaways, basketball tournaments, restaurant partnerships, hygiene kit giveaways, holiday dinners, and more. Many of Young Dolph’s Paper Route Empire (PRE) label roster will participate in these, as well as plenty of other local rappers, businesspeople, community leaders, and the like. Also, this follows November 17 becoming the Adolf “Young Dolph” Thornton Jr. Day of Service in Tennessee and Georgia. In collaboration with PRE, his family’s estate- the Ida Mae Foundation- handled all of this planning and execution to make sure that this year’s Dolph Day was something special.

Young Dolph’s “Dolph Day” Expands

Events like these help many mournful individuals, be they famous or not, focus on the positives that Young Dolph left behind, as much as his absence is a painful reality. “Landing in Memphis and not reaching out to my potna to get the fire is cr*zy man,” Curren$y somberly shared on Twitter back in October. “Long live flipper,” he concluded with a dolphin emoji. However, Dolph Day is an opportunity for folks to engage with their grief, give their respects, and share love, generosity, and humanity with each other in ways that much of rap music is unrightfully blocked from by media saturation, economic interests in perpetuating beef, and exploitation.

Meanwhile, this is taking place as the late MC’s legal case continues to develop concerning his alleged murderers. Hopefully, that case also provides some closure and justice for his family. With the heartening and strong impact that Dolph Day yields in 2023, we can only hope that we continue to honor this legacy for years to come. Key Glock Doesn’t Want To Talk To Anyone About Young Dolph

Last month, Key Glock announced his new project Glocktober. He released a new album earlier this year back in February called Glockoma 2. He followed it up a few months later with a deluxe edition that brought even more fans into his signature southern rap style. The first single from Glocktober dropped a little over a month ago with “No Hook 2.” The hard-hitting track also clicked with fans for the tune of more than 4 million streams on Spotify since it was released.

Key Glock followed it up with even more new singles leading up to the album throughout October. The second single “Murder & Millions” dropped just a week after the first and yet another single called “One Me” a week after that. Young Dolph’s Murder Trial’s Judge Removed, Will Get Replacement: Report

The murder trial of Young Dolph was already a complicated and arduously lengthy affair, but things just got another twist. Moreover, the Court of Criminal Appeals removed Judge Lee Coffee from the case, according to AllHipHop, who presided over the case up until this point. For those unaware, four individuals currently face charges for the 2021 murder of the Memphis rapper at his favorite bakery, Makeda’s Homemade Cookies. Specifically, Coffee’s recusal reportedly stems from his alleged mistreatment of one of the defendants, Justin Johnson. Also known by his rap name Straight Drop, he released the track “No Statements” from behind bars last year on YouTube.

Furthermore, Judge Lee Coffee apparently got in touch with the chief jailer and demanded that Young Dolph’s accused killer move to administrative isolation. He made this request despite conclusions from prison authorities that this release did not break any regulations. Afterwards, Johnson’s lawyers requested Coffee’s removal, which the judge obviously dismissed but could not prevent form moving to a successful appeal. As such, the Court of Criminal Appeals stated that “it would appear to a reasonable person that Judge Coffee has a prejudice of a personal character directed at the defendant.”

The Song That Got Young Dolph’s Murder Trial’s Judge Mad- And In Trouble

Their ruling severed Coffee from the Young Dolph case, responding directly to previously overlooked power imbalances and a lack of impartiality. This means that this trial needs a new judge, which will likely enter the case within due time. Hopefully it’s quickly, as this process could delay an already years-long case with more roadblocks in its way that don’t relate to this. While the defendants could face a better chance with another authority at the head, the opposite is equally possible, and justice could come more effectively now.

Meanwhile, this comes as folks continue to celebrate Dolph’s legacy, impact, and reverence within his community and the representation of Memphis rap across the whole genre. Even though it’s unclear what implications this judge swap will yield for the case, fans are holding out hope that this is the light at the end of the tunnel. Until we fully emerge on the other side, though, anything could happen. For more news and the latest updates on Young Dolph, log back into HNHH.

Mia Jaye Dedicates Song To Young Dolph’s Killers: “How Could You Take A Father From His Family?”

The death of Young Dolph took a hard hit on the world of hip-hop – especially the Paper Route Empire that he and Key Glock were building down south. Thankfully other artists in the “Water on Water” hitmaker’s community have since stepped up to ensure his legacy lives on. Outside of being a talented rapper, Dolph was also known to be a family man through and through. His fiancee, Mia Jaye, and their young children were devastated upon hearing news of his 2021 murder.

On Saturday (September 2), the widow decided to express herself musically on social media, sending out a message to his accused killers. In an acapella video posted to her Instagram Story, Jaye sang, “How could you take a father from his family and kids / Mr. Shooter, dear Mr. Shooter, what the f**k was you thinkin’/ You done f**ked up now.” The emotion in her voice is obvious. It also isn’t surprising considering the fashion designer has frequently spoken about the pain she feels while mourning Dolph.

Mia Jaye Has a Message for Young Dolph’s Murderers

“I wish I could turn back the hands of time… Every fibre in my body wants Adolph back,” Mia tweeted last year, as HipHopDX pointed out. “My life was so complete… My children’s lives were so complete. As more time passes by I am constantly reminded of how incomplete our lives are.” There’s unfortunately nothing that can be done to bring the creative back from the dead. Thankfully he spent his short life working toward making a difference in his community.

As the time since Young Dolph’s sudden departure grows longer, those closest to the late rapper continue to keep his memory alive. Apart from Mia Jaye’s recent musical tribute, the couple’s 9-year-old son also recently launched a clothing line in honour of his father. Read more about that initiative at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
