Young Dolph Murder Investigation: CEO Teezy Reportedly Killed After Being Named Person Of Interest

Young Dolph’s friends and family haven’t seen legal justice quite yet. Still, the city of Memphis is making it clear that they continue to go hard for the late rapper. Not long after being named a person of interest in the long-running investigation, a man named CEO Teezy was reportedly shot and killed in the city on Tuesday (June 13) night. Local police received a “man down” call shortly before 1 PM local time from Spottswood Avenue near Buntyn Street on Wednesday. There, they found Teezy’s dead body hours after the incident took place.

According to a tweet from ABC24 Memphis reporter Ian Ripple, multiple sources have confirmed the victim’s identity. “The shooting happened last night. MPD was searching for a victim but never found one in the area,” he shared yesterday. “His body was discovered shortly after noon today.” Teezy, and another man, Devin Burns, were both of interest to Memphis PD regarding Dolph’s murder. The former had yet to be formally questioned by police. Elsewhere, the latter was arrested in February 2022 thanks to unrelated charges.

CEO Teezy Murder Reports Surface Online

At the time, Burns was charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of property theft amounting $10K – $60K, as per AllHipHop. He received a bond of $100K. The nature of both him and Teezy’s involvement in the PRE rapper’s death remains unclear, though more information will surely come to light as the investigation continues. No suspect information related to CEO’s death has been shared by local police, but they’re continuing to look into that as well.

As the news of Teezy’s death hit social media, the late southern lyricst began trending on Twitter. “If my friends not sliding for me like Young Dolph’s ni**a’s I don’t want it,” one user wrote. “They just dropped that ni**a name yesterday and he off the map today 😭.” Make sure to check back in later for more updates on Young Dolph’s murder investigation, as well as on your other favourite artists. Two years ago Memphis rapper Young Dolph was gunned down in broad daylight outside his favorite cookie shop. Now a person of interest in the case has also been killed.

According to multiple reports Josh Taylor aka CEO Teezy has been killed in Memphis’ Orange Mound Neighborhood. CEO Teezy has never been charged with the murder of Young Dolph.- One of the men accused in Young Dolph’s murder pleaded guilty in his court hearing on Friday morning. Jermarcus Johnson, 26, is accused as an accessory after the fact of conspiring to murder Memphis rapper Young Dolph. Johnson is one of four men charged in the case.
He admitted to assisting his brother Justin Johnson in the days after the rapper was killed by taking possession of Justin Johnson’s cell phone and car, so authorities would think Justin was not in Memphis.
Last week, 26-year-old Jermarcus Johnson pleaded guilty to three counts of accessory after the fact in Dolph’s murder.

While Johnson had no role in Dolph’s killing he was accused of helping alleged shooters Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith after they did the deed.

Justin Johnson and Smith have yet to go to trial.

Young Dolph’s Alleged Killer, Jermarcus Johnson, Pleads Guilty To 3 Counts Of Accessory After The Fact

This November will sadly mark the two-year anniversary of Young Dolph’s unexpected and tragic death. Unfortunately his friends and family are still awaiting justice as the Chicago native’s alleged killers go through the court process. One of them, Hernandez Govan, was recently granted a $90K bond. This sent shock and outrage out seeing as he allegedly ordered a hit on the PRE head. Another involved in the case, Jermarcus Johnson, finally pleaded guilty to three counts of accessory after the fact on Friday (June 9).

As WREG reports, Jermarcus is the half-brother of Justin, yet another co-defendant in the case. He’s believed to have acted as a gunman alongside Cornelius Smith during the incident. During today’s hearing, prosecutor Paul Hagerman made it clear that the former wasn’t involved in the planning or shooting of Dolph. Rather, his role was accepting a car and cell phone from his sibling in an attempt to trick probation officers and allow Justin to escape from Memphis, where the rapper was murdered a week before. Despite his attempt to flee, authorities ultimately caught up with Johnson in Indiana.

Jermarcus Johnson Takes Responsibility for His Actions

Presiding Judge Lee Coffee agreed to the terms of the plea deal, which leaves Jermarcus to serve six to 12 years. His exact fate will remain unknown until August 10, when sentencing has been scheduled for. In addition, the accused killer was given a bond of $25K. Prior to today’s agreement, Jermarcus was charged with conspiracy to first-degree murder. Obviously, his new charges are far less substantial but still disappointing to fans of the fallen rapper and his community.

In lighter news, Young Dolph’s estate shared his posthumous Paper Route Frank project in late 2022. The alleged mastermind behind the death of Young Dolph has received a bond amount. According to WREG-Memphis, Govan’s bond is set at $90,000.

“The lawyer talked to me yesterday about Mr. Govan’s presence and we decided his presence was not necessary,” Judge Lee Coffee said.

If Goven is able to post bond, he will be placed on house arrest and can only leave for medical needs or to discuss the case with his lawyers.

Govan is said to have blood pressure issues, along with chest pains and arm tingling. District Attorney Steve Mulroy revealed the bond amount was agreed upon by Young Dolph’s family.

“We have come into some information about Mr. Govan’s role and medical conditions that makes us think this is the best resolution in order to get justice for the case,” Mulroy said.

Young Dolph Murder Suspect, Hernandez Govan, Receives $90K Bond

Young Dolph’s life was tragically taken far too soon a year and a half ago now. Still, his family awaits justice via the legal system. In late April, one of the suspects, Hernandez Govan, made headlines after appearing in court without his lawyer. It was previously reported that after nearly half a year of working with his client, William Massey could no longer represent Govan. “Some sort of conflict [has] arisen. I don’t know the nature of it,” the presiding judge explained at the time.

Ultimately, attorney Handel Durham Jr. was appointed to Young Dolph’s alleged killer’s case. So far, the two seem to be working very well together. On Thursday (May 11), FOX13 Memphis reporter Jeremy Pierre revealed via Twitter that Govan has been given a surprisingly low bond of $90K after months of waiting behind bars. “Hernandez Govan charged with the first-degree murder of Young Dolph,” the post reminded users. “He’s also charged with attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder of [the rapper].”

Judge Sets Hernandez Govan’s Bond in First-Degree Murder Case

Following the news breaking earlier this morning, various blogs have reposted it, only to see upset reactions pouring in non-stop. “Should be no bond,” one person argued in @theshaderoom’s comments. “BOND! Bruh, they ’bout to turn UP in the city,” another user suggested, hinting at potential chaos unravelling in Memphis as a result of the ruling. “Mind y’all he really only need $9,000 to bond out… Crazy,” a third comment reminds readers, pointing out just how simple it’ll be for Govan to walk free as he awaits trial.

Dolph lost his life on November 17, 2021 during a targeted shooting at a cookie shop in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. An autopsy later revealed that he received 22 gunshot wounds, some of which hit his forehead and back. Five men (including Govan) have been accused of his murder, the others are Justin Johnson, Cornelius Smith, Jemarcus Johnson, and Shundale Barnett. Are you surprised by the news of Hernandez Govan’s low bond? Let us know in the comments below, and tap back in with HNHH later for any updates on Young Dolph’s murder trial. RIP.
